Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew

yay for smaller jeans! I've been completely rubbish this week. Just totally failed to get back on the horse after our holiday. Work has been really busy and I've had a rotten cold (PCR negative) so comfort eating and no exercise. I need to get used to tolerating a little bit of hunger again. Monday will be a fresh start Smile. I think being back in the work/school/activities routine will help me focus.
I don't think I've been hungry in decades! I remember my stomach rumbling a few years ago after I had norovirus and thinking I've never heard that before 😂
professionalcockney · 04/09/2021 20:58

@Mulletsaremisunderstood

I hope you're ok poorpaws, you might have been dehydrated either. Maybe rest for the weekend and see how you feel next week. I'm sorry Clara, it's horrible to have to deal with hormones along with everything else. I'm due mine next week, and I have an all day training thingy which I'm dreading because I know I'll just want to curl up in a ball and cry, instead I have to pretend to be vaguely human Hmm.

Thanks professional, you are doing great, so well with your food - I can't believe you only had one chocolate!! So disciplined. There's nothing like an event looming in the near future to keep motivation up!
Enjoy your weekend Meg hopefully you will get good weather. Don't worry about a bad week Turn, being sick throws everything out of the window. Onward and upward next week!

Weather took a turn for the better here today so I went for a long walk in the sunshine, and then did a workout when I got back and had a relatively healthy lunch. Not sure how I feel about the weigh in on Monday, I haven't lost anything in a few weeks, so I think the scale is conspiring against me. If it still says 143.6 lbs again I may chuck it down the stairs and get a new one.

But thanks to this thread I'm feeling more positive. If I didn't have to come and confess my sins here every week I seriously would have given up when as soon as it got a bit difficultFlowers

All that exercise and moving is great! 👏
professionalcockney · 04/09/2021 20:59

@poorpaws

Thanks everyone, I’ve felt so much better today but that’s because I’ve upped my food intake dramatically. 🥴 It’ll just take longer to lose the weight but I don’t want to feel that bad again.

@MegBusset I hope you have a great break. I always have those mini Soreen bars in too, in fact I’m sick of the taste of them atm I’ve had so many.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I’m not having a better weekend than you. How about we start again on Monday after the weigh-in? I know I’ll regret this when I gain yet again but I really can’t be doing with healthy stuff tonight (or tomorrow).

@Mulletsaremisunderstood I never get chance to be dehydrated because I live on Diet Coke. I’m ashamed to admit I take 5 (yes 5) cans on a dog walk and continue to drink it when I get home until I go to bed, I have a real problem! 😳. Goodness a long walk and a workout, that’s so impressive. I don’t think your scales will give you your normal reading, it’s sure to go down after all your work today. I’m so pleased to hear you are getting something positive from this thread.

I’m so worried this evening (I don’t want to bring the tone of this thread down) but my friends 5 year old grandson has had a 6 hour heart operation and was doing well until last night and now he’s not responding to oxygen and I’m so scared we are going to lose him. I’m just sitting around waiting for news. It’s not an excuse but I think that’s why I keep going to the food cupboards and fridge.

So on a more positive note I’m going to start my Christmas shopping online to take my mind off things (16 weeks today is Christmas day 🎅🏻)

I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope things turn out well. Poor little soul.
professionalcockney · 05/09/2021 22:14

Evening check in. Meals have been good (eggs. soup and steak and veg but have snacked on crisps, popcorn and sweets - not so good!

Planning on doing a couple of light days based around vegetables - new week, new me!

I find it difficult to get out of the house to exercise at the weekend so planning on doing some form of exercise every day Monday to Friday.

I hope you have all had a nice weekend 🥰

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 08:03

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re all okay on this lovely sunny morning.

SW: 12st 2.3/4
CW: 11st 4
First mini goal: Failed
Second mini goal: I can’t remember, I’ll go back and check 🥴
GW: 9st anything or 10st nowhere near that yet

So I lost 1.1/4 lbs and very pleased. It would have been more had I not felt ill and eaten a lot. I fear this is going to be a very long journey for me but so long as I plod on at any pace, I’ll get there. The turtle wins the race😀

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 08:08

Just checked my new mini goal is 11 st that SHOULD be doable.

@Mulletsaremisunderstood I’m wonderI got (and chuckling to myself) if your scales have been thrown out yet. Good luck 🤞🏻

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/09/2021 08:29

Morning! Well done you, that’s brilliant!

As for my scales, they just about get to keep their job.

Drum roll …..143.4 lbs - so, that’s down 0.2 of a pound Grin. After the last few ridiculous weeks, I will take it!

SW: 151.8 lbs
CW: 143.4 lbs
GW: 135 lbs (or something vaguely close to it)

Hope everyone else does better than me this week.

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 08:37

@Mulletsaremisunderstood. Well done, a loss is a loss and your scales live on to fight another day.

SW 14.13
CW 12.12.5
TW 10.00

Well, that was better than expected. I was reading about a study that looked at 3 groups. One just restricted calories, one restricted calories and did cardiac exercise and one restricted calories and did resistance exercise. They found that the first 2 groups pretty much lost the same but the final group lost markedly more. Apparently 20 mins is the minimum duration. So, I gave it a go. I swam for 20 minutes 3 days and did 20 minutes of strength training (programme on the internet for "seniors") for the other 4 days. Well, it may be co-incidence but I did lose better this week - even with an "off the wagon" slip involving lots of wine and an entire packet of cashews. I'll keep it up for a few weeks and see how it goes. Anything that reduces the time it takes to get shot of this weight is worth a try!

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 10:15

Well done @bjarnum. That’s very interesting, Im a senior too, I’ll take a look.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/09/2021 11:26

Morning all
Well done Mullets, Poorpaws and Bjarnum. Lovely to see your losses.

Despite a not-very-diety week I've lost a pound. Bizarre, but I'll take it. I am still 2lbs up on my mid-August weight so not massively impressive Grin.

DC2 has gone on a residential trip with school today, so I need to be mindful that I'm not doing the school run - on Mondays I walk that mile four times, and usually squeeze in a few more trips over the week, depending on where I'm working. I need to make sure I take an evening walk every day.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/09/2021 11:27

I forgot the numbers!

SW 13st 4(April)
CW 12st 2lb
Mini goal 11st 10lb
GW 11st

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/09/2021 11:28

and then I got the numbers wrong!
current weight is 12st1lb.

MegBusset · 06/09/2021 11:44

Well done to all the losers 🙌

I've had a weekend away so not been on the scales since Friday. I ate out on Saturday and Sunday night and am eating out tonight for my wedding anniversary but have tried to stick within my calories and did a lot of walking (13m on Saturday, 10m yesterday) so hoping not to have done too much damage. Oh and my period has come a week early Hmm hooray

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 11:57

@TheTurn0fTheScrew well done on the pound. It’s good weather for an evening walk, I love them when it’s warm (but don’t do them if it’s cold). Your numbers are looking really good now, I wish I could get that first pesky stone off (so near for so long).

@MegBusset happy anniversary. Enjoy your meal out (I wish I ate out as much as you do, I’m quite envious). Well done also on all the walking, that’s an awful lot of steps 😀

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/09/2021 12:34

Everyone had a good weigh in this week, yay! (I'm taking 0.2 pounds loss as a good week).

The weather has gone back to ridiculously hot here today, it says 20c but feels more like 25c. I usually go for a long walk at lunchtime but can't face the scorching sun today.

I just wish Autumn would come once and for all, I put away most of my summer clothes already.

professionalcockney · 06/09/2021 13:13

Well done on all the losses 👍👍

CherryBlossom100 · 06/09/2021 19:37

Well done for all the losses.
I lost 3 lbs this week but think I'm still at the beginning fast loss and it'll slow down now.
SW - 12 st 4
CW - 11 st 13
TW - 9 st 6

Fell off the low carb train yesterday and ate loads but have stuck to it today. Ill try and be good the rest of the week!

professionalcockney · 06/09/2021 20:02

Evening update. Light day of eating and went for nearly a 2 hour walk. 👍

poorpaws · 06/09/2021 21:45

@CherryBlossom100 brilliant loss, well done. Think you’ve put the rest of us to shame this week. 😁

Eating far too much here and I’ve got a day out tomorrow which will most definitely involve a considerable amount of food. Perhaps I will be able to start again on Wednesday (unless I can find a good excuse😳).

Have a good week everyone.

@poorpaws cream tea 🤤

Another good food day today but I did fall into a bag of crisps! My weakness!

I also went for a 10K walk before it got too hot.

Why is weight loss so sloooowwwwwww 😫

Sofia70 · 07/09/2021 21:43

Mi

poorpaws · 08/09/2021 09:04

Well one day out, two meals out and I’ve gained 3/4 of a pound in one day! That’ll teach me not to jump off the wagon.

@professionalcockney. I’ve come to terms with the fact now that my weight loss is going to be an extremely slow process. At first I was thinking most definitely at least a pound a week and now I could get quite excited at a loss of a quarter of a pound 🤣. I just keep thinking the slower you take it off the slower you regain it, well that’s my theory. So long as we keep at it and keep on here for support it doesn’t really matter how long it takes, we’ve got to keep chugging on!

Have a really good day everyone, I hope you are all doing better than I’ve done recently.
