Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

poorpaws · 06/06/2021 20:22

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Evening check in. Spent most of the day on the road, service station food, enough said 🤮

poorpaws · 01/09/2021 21:23

@professionalcockney. I hope you had a good journey and are safely home by now. You’ll feel great restarting the diet at home although you might need a holiday 😀🥴

Hope you're not feeling too rough after service station food @professionalcockney!!

I need to set myself something a bit ambitious @poorpaws as I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut! Just can't get back into the swing of exercising and eating well. DP is being an arse at the moment which doesn't help Hmm I am utterly skint until I start my new job next week, asked if he'd pay for a big food shop to tide us over and was subjected to an enormous moan about how expensive it had been going on holiday, etc. The holiday HE HAD BOOKED and I didn't want to go on Confused

Forgot to say, I went to my friend's wedding the other day and looked (whisper it quietly) reasonably ok! I only stayed a couple of hours but it was so nice to be out. It was about 10 minutes' drive away, I drove and spent £5 on soft drinks. DP asked why I didn't take a cab and have a drink - like I have £50 to spend on socialising...

poorpaws · 01/09/2021 22:09

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. I so admire your bravery. I’ve been struggling for weeks too but I know I can’t set a big goal atm. I so wish I could keep the attitude I had when we all started this. I still want to do it, I still want to be thin but I haven’t got that “push” in me anymore. At first I found it such a challenge and quite exciting to lose weight and now I find it tedious, Monotonous, boring. I get being skint too!

I’m sure if you thought you looked reasonably okay at the wedding you actually looked amazing! We don’t see ourselves as other people see us and it’s such a shame really. All I ever see is my huge tummy, as far as I’m concerned that’s who I am, a huge blob. I bet others don’t see me like that at all.

I think we’ll just have to keep on with the ups and downs of healthy living until we get where we all want to be. It will probably be years for me, but I’ve come to the conclusion it’s better to take years than failing totally

@poorpaws I'm dying to eat salad!!

Proper detox from tomorrow 👍

poorpaws · 02/09/2021 08:12

Good morning everyone

I’m feeling much more positive this morning and I’m going to do my best to at least get a one pound off this week.

@professionalcockney enjoy your salad. You’re going to put us all to shame with your detox 😀 hope it goes well.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 02/09/2021 09:41

@professionalcockney I would love a big salad too! But have only half a courgette and some potatoes left in fresh veg so it's looking unlikely Confused hope your detox is going well!

@Mulletsaremisunderstood have you added pasta bakes/ tray bakes to your list of veggie meals? Easy to make them veggie with either veggie sausages/ Quorn pieces or just adding some cheese - if you finely grate some strong Cheddar or similar you don't need very much to add some taste.

Glad you are feeling more positive today @poorpaws! The DC are finally back at school although DS1 had a minor wobble at the classroom door when he realised that he wouldn't be back with last year's teacher, who he loved. I have mountains of cleaning and tidying to do - the house is still a state after being away for ages - and I'm away for a couple of days next week for my new job, need to burn off a few calories before then! Woke up this morning though to a very heavy AF and don't think I can move much, let alone exercise...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 02/09/2021 09:45

PS thank you for your compliments @poorpaws! I know I would have been very self conscious to turn up at the wedding at all if I hadn't lost a couple of stone already, thanks to everyone on this thread Smile

I'm still participating in the Super Program which I paid for a few weeks ago by the way, although not to the level I could be, that'll have to wait till I'm back next week. Funnily enough I heard from my flaky friend last week (the one who asked if I'd join with her then promptly ignored all my messages about it!) - it was two months since I'd last heard anything and she sent me a perfectly nice but very formal message. I did reply but again, nothing back. Still, I'm enjoying the program and finding the challenges and support useful!

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 02/09/2021 10:35

poorpaws I too am feeling much more positive this week for some reason. We're all still here, staying on the wagon (even though it's wobbling widly), and helping each other.

If I think back to the start of this, I have lost 8 pounds since then and kept it off. Not much for some people but a big achievement for me - the person who usually gives up after 5 minutes. I can get that motivation back if I keep on focus.

Thanks Clara, yes pasta is a good idea for quick filling meals. I eat fish occasionally, so tuna pasta bake should be a good one.

Feels like proper autumn here today, dull and cold. I'm quite looking forward to it, boots and scarves and jumpers and hot chocolate - low fat, obvs Grin.

professionalcockney · 02/09/2021 17:46

Evening check in. I had eggs for breakfast, a light picky lunch of ham and carrot sticks, and some lentil soup for dinner. I did have a bag of crisps (they are my nemesis!) and 1 chocolate from the posh choccy box I brought back from my holidays.

Should achieve 10,000 steps today too 🙌

How has everyone else done?

poorpaws · 03/09/2021 07:43

@professionalcockney you seem to be doing very well so far, well done.

So remember when I started this thread and my jeans were ripped and I’d got nothing to wear so I bought a fat bastard skirt (which I’ve lived in for three months) and two pairs of jeans. I wore the jeans yesterday and they felt quite loose so last night I ordered the same jeans in a size lower (size 14 when before they were 16). I am just waiting to see if they are far too tight or if I can claim an NSV 🥴 fingers most definitely very crossed.

At the moment my mindset has changed a bit and I’m getting back into this healthy eating being very important rather than a bore, I just hope I can keep this up.

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping positive.

Had a good few days, did a decent workout Wednesday and yesterday, and I'll be going for a long walk today.

Also doing some food shopping and will get healthy ingredients so I have no excuse for snacking on crap. I better have lost something by Monday or I may well burn my scales!

Hope everyone else is having a good Friday.

That's great about the smaller sizes jeans. Keep up the good work!

I too am trying to see this as a health thing rather than a weight loss thing. We are 'gaining health' not 'losing weight' = shift in mindset!

I have an event to attend in 6 weeks so that's my motivation. I am going out for a bike ride soon to get some exercise in.

CherryBlossom100 · 03/09/2021 18:36

Great about the jeans poorpaws!
I fell off the bandwagon and had macdonalds for lunch but have followed the diet and fasting the rest of the week so hoping to see a loss on Monday! I'm not feeling hungry for dinner due to the big lunch so going to skip it and hope that makes up for the blip!
Enjoy the bike ride professionalcockney!

professionalcockney · 03/09/2021 20:47

Evening update. I had a good day until I ate a piece of garlic bread with my (light) dinner and it made my stomach bloat and sooooo uncomfortable. Only just starting to feel better now.

I also went for a one hour bike ride. 🚴‍♀️

poorpaws · 03/09/2021 21:57

I thought I was doing so well and then when I came in from the dog walk at lunchtime I felt really ill. I don’t think I’d had enough to eat and we walked a long way and I felt sort of sickly and dizzy. I’ve had quite a lot to eat to make up for it and now I feel okay. I’ve got a feeling I try to do too many steps on too little food. So I’m not doing as well as I thought.

@CherryBlossom100 I haven’t got into the jeans yet 🥴 I might not squeeze myself into them but I’ll have a good try when they arrive and I’ll report back. I might need help to get into them.

@poorpaws I get that if I try to walk a long way without enough food. I presume it's a blood sugar thing.

I'm off for a weekend away with lots of walking, have packed plenty of Soreen mini bars to keep me fuelled!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 03/09/2021 22:10

Far too much snacking here Blush and no actual knuckling down to an exercise regime. I'm just so tired after weeks and bloody weeks of the DC off school and now a heavy AF. Hope everyone else has a better weekend than I'm anticipating...!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 03/09/2021 22:19

yay for smaller jeans!
I've been completely rubbish this week. Just totally failed to get back on the horse after our holiday. Work has been really busy and I've had a rotten cold (PCR negative) so comfort eating and no exercise. I need to get used to tolerating a little bit of hunger again. Monday will be a fresh start Smile. I think being back in the work/school/activities routine will help me focus.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 04/09/2021 14:01

I hope you're ok poorpaws, you might have been dehydrated either. Maybe rest for the weekend and see how you feel next week.
I'm sorry Clara, it's horrible to have to deal with hormones along with everything else. I'm due mine next week, and I have an all day training thingy which I'm dreading because I know I'll just want to curl up in a ball and cry, instead I have to pretend to be vaguely human Hmm.

Thanks professional, you are doing great, so well with your food - I can't believe you only had one chocolate!! So disciplined. There's nothing like an event looming in the near future to keep motivation up!
Enjoy your weekend Meg hopefully you will get good weather. Don't worry about a bad week Turn, being sick throws everything out of the window. Onward and upward next week!

Weather took a turn for the better here today so I went for a long walk in the sunshine, and then did a workout when I got back and had a relatively healthy lunch. Not sure how I feel about the weigh in on Monday, I haven't lost anything in a few weeks, so I think the scale is conspiring against me. If it still says 143.6 lbs again I may chuck it down the stairs and get a new one.

But thanks to this thread I'm feeling more positive. If I didn't have to come and confess my sins here every week I seriously would have given up when as soon as it got a bit difficultFlowers

poorpaws · 04/09/2021 19:59

Thanks everyone, I’ve felt so much better today but that’s because I’ve upped my food intake dramatically. 🥴 It’ll just take longer to lose the weight but I don’t want to feel that bad again.

@MegBusset I hope you have a great break. I always have those mini Soreen bars in too, in fact I’m sick of the taste of them atm I’ve had so many.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I’m not having a better weekend than you. How about we start again on Monday after the weigh-in? I know I’ll regret this when I gain yet again but I really can’t be doing with healthy stuff tonight (or tomorrow).

@Mulletsaremisunderstood I never get chance to be dehydrated because I live on Diet Coke. I’m ashamed to admit I take 5 (yes 5) cans on a dog walk and continue to drink it when I get home until I go to bed, I have a real problem! 😳. Goodness a long walk and a workout, that’s so impressive. I don’t think your scales will give you your normal reading, it’s sure to go down after all your work today. I’m so pleased to hear you are getting something positive from this thread.

I’m so worried this evening (I don’t want to bring the tone of this thread down) but my friends 5 year old grandson has had a 6 hour heart operation and was doing well until last night and now he’s not responding to oxygen and I’m so scared we are going to lose him. I’m just sitting around waiting for news. It’s not an excuse but I think that’s why I keep going to the food cupboards and fridge.

So on a more positive note I’m going to start my Christmas shopping online to take my mind off things (16 weeks today is Christmas day 🎅🏻)

Oh my god poorpaws that's awful, I hope everything turns out ok. It must be so stressful just waiting to hear news. Fingers crossed.

professionalcockney · 04/09/2021 20:55

Evening update. A bit of a wobbly day today. Saturday feels boring without fun food! Have eaten a bit more chocolate than I would've usually had. Will have to make a cup of tea to stop myself eating any more!
