Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

poorpaws · 06/06/2021 20:22

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Oops sorry

She’s going to be called Tilly (Matilda when she’s naughty). I’ve got it all wrong though (as usual). They are delivering her from North Devon and I read the text as THIS Friday or Saturday when it actually said A Friday or Saturday so I don’t know when she’s arriving. I’m beyond excited. She is described as a very calm, quiet dog and I just can’t wait to meet her.

@Mulletsaremisunderstood and @TheTurn0fTheScrew never mind about 1 lb, it’s not that much and you’ll make it up in no time.

Where is everyone? Hiding under a cushion trying to forget its weigh day.

FrameyMcFrame · 09/08/2021 15:15

Hi everyone.
I've just read through this thread and wondering if I'm too late to join you?

I have 2.5 stone to lose, similar situation with lockdown weight gain and stopping exercising.

I was 13 stone and already managed to lose 10 pounds.

Put a couple on so now I'm 12.stone 6 and I'm 5.4 tall.

I've had a lot of self esteem issues and my thoughts had ended up being 'what's the point in trying to lose the weight' but I'm coming around from that now and have decided I want to be the best and fittest version of me possible.

I have the Noom app which is just like MFP, meal and exercise logging.

Orangesandlemons77 · 09/08/2021 15:29

Can I join as well? I'm only 5ft 3 and weigh 13.5 stone which is more than I have ever been, I was about 10.5 before the lockdowns. I usually swim a lot so think being at home meant as well as missing school walks I also missed my swimming...and also turned to food as stressed / down to be honest. I have a real sweet tooth.

I'm doing Exante which is a meal replacement plan. It seems to be going OK. Again not swimming as much as would like to recently as it is the school holidays and the children at home requiring meals etc but going to try and carve out a bit of time for it as need to really

poorpaws · 09/08/2021 15:47

@FrameyMcFrame and @Orangesandlemons77
A very warm welcome to you both and I’m very pleased to have you on board.

We are a small group, only eight of us left now, so it is lovely to see new people. We support each other and are incredibly friendly. Most of us have some bad days (especially me I think) but there is no shaming, just incredible help.

Most of us weigh on Monday mornings (but some are hiding this week 😀). If I remember correctly (a lot of people have joined us and left) one of us weighs on a different day and one does measurements not weighing.

It’s a very easy-going thread but on the whole I think we are doing ok. We all set a mini goal for the end of August and are trying to meet the deadline. You are both welcome to set one if you’d like to.

Please stick with us, we are good company when not hiding and you might enjoy this thread, hopefully 🤞🏻

Ohh great, thanks for the welcome!

I'll weigh in tomorrow morning to catch up.

What is your mini target?

I'd like to get down to 12 stone by the end of the month, might be unrealistic!

Bjarnum · 09/08/2021 16:42

Is it too late for me to join? I'm doing Noom and need to lose at least another 3 stone! (Actually , probably 4 but 3 seems doable)
SW 14 st 13 lb
CW 13st 1lb
TW 10 st
I started at 5ft 4.5in but weight has shortened me to 5ft 2in .
I've been fat for years - but really determined this time.

Orangesandlemons77 · 09/08/2021 16:57

Thanks for the welcome Flowers just started raining here again! It has been on and off all day just been trying to go for a walk. Nice to meet some others in the same boat.

poorpaws · 09/08/2021 17:05

@Bjarnum welcome to you too. Everything I typed above applies to you as well. I hope you lose weight with us.

@FrameyMcFrame my mini target is 11st 3 lbs. We’ all just set our own, no pressure.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 09/08/2021 18:24

Thanks for letting me join - will post next Monday, hopefully having shrunk a little! Good luck all

poorpaws · 09/08/2021 19:42

So we have three lovely new people joining us today and we can watch their progress over the coming months. But where is everyone else? I think our holidaymakers are back home. I hope everyone hasn’t decided on a mass exodus. Come bacckkk! 😢

badgerswitharms · 09/08/2021 20:40

Hello!
Can I join please, I need some help with accountability.

I realised after Xmas I was 12st5lbs and had put 3st on since I had my twins (6yo!). It's been a bit up and down over last 8 months but I've managed to lose over a stone.

So...
SW 12.5
CW 10.10
TW 9.7

However I'd like to be 10.5 by end of august so I'll have lost 2st in total. It might be a bit ambitious but it would put me in normal BMI range which feels like such an achievement.

I'm mainly doing lowish carb and intermittent fasting.

FrameyMcFrame · 09/08/2021 20:52

Hi again everyone!

I'll just put my weight in properly. Never done a weight loss thread before

SW 13.0
CW 12.6
TW 10.0

Evenings are the most tricky.

I've stuck within my calorie limit today and been for a run with DS

Good to meet everyone!!

FrameyMcFrame · 09/08/2021 20:52

Hi @badgerswitharms!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 09/08/2021 23:20

Well done to any losers/ maintainers/ anyone who is sticking with us regardless of being a bit dispirited!!

I haven't dared get on the scales today Blush too much holiday food, not enough exercise, plus AF week = podgy Clara. On the bright side, I didn't go mad, but there just wasn't the option of making healthy choices that often (on site there was a fish and chip stall and a cake shop and that was it!) and there's a limit to how much walking about the DC will do before throwing themselves down and wailing for snacks Hmm

I must just get this off my chest though: DP is SO. BLOODY. LAZY Angry Angry Angry

Ah, that feels better already!! Obviously we don't spend 24/7 together during the week and it just became clear that he has very little energy any more. I know he's put on weight again - must be over 20 stone by now - but it means he quite often sits down and will not move. He asks me or the DC to pass him things, says "I JUST WANT TO REST FOR A BIT" and gets in an enormous huff if we're ready to go out, moans that he has no time to exercise but spends hours watching TV... I could go on. I saw quite a few families out and about together having been walking/ cycling/ swimming and it made me sad really, to think DP would rather be in a vile temper with us than actually get off his arse and do anything.

Perhaps we should follow your example @poorpaws and get a dog to make him move!! She looks so sweet, I'd love a greyhound!

Welcome to all the newbies. I will be back and less ranty at some point Smile

poorpaws · 10/08/2021 07:50

@badgerswitharms welcome. I hope you enjoy being with us and we all help each other lose weight. Very well done on losing over a stone that’s such an achievement. I’m still fighting for that first stone off but getting near now. I love this thread and the lovely people on it, I hope you will too.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. Rant away, get it off your chest, we’re all here to make each other feel better in every way. I’ve got the very opposite of you. I can’t get my partner to sit down, ever! I bought some outdoor seats and a bench and he’s not sat on them once. Every time he’s going to sit down he needs to weed something or feed something or water something, it drives me crazy. And apart from going to the moors which he loves because we walk all the time he won’t go anywhere. I can’t get him to go out for a meal or a coffee or to see anyone, he just works. I don’t think I’m lazy but I have ME And I have to be careful how much I do. He makes me feel very lazy because he does so much, it’s tiring just looking at him. We each have our cross to bear!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 10/08/2021 07:52

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl ... and because he works so hard, the minute the television is on he’s asleep. I don’t think he seen a television programme through for years 😀

👋 I'm still here! Sorry I didn't check in yesterday... I had a horrible gynae procedure yesterday and left really early so didn't weigh myself before. But I have been struggling this last week in the build up - I've been on steroids in preparation for it as well as additional hormones and I've been really hungry. I've not gone totally off the rails but had a couple of days not tracking at all. But I'm off my meds now, just recovering, so easing myself back into things. Normal service will resume next week :)

@poorpaws your new addition is gorgeous!

Well done all and hello to the newbies x

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/08/2021 20:36

welcome to all the new posters - lovely to have you here for support.

Venus that sounds really rough. Go easy on yourself.

I am struggling to get back into the whole dieting thing after my holiday. Funny how quickly I get used to snacking in the evenings, and how slowly I adapt to not doing so. I think I need to ban cheese from the house.

badgerswitharms · 10/08/2021 21:49

Thanks all for the lovely welcome. And as if by magic 3/4 bottle of wine has fallen down my neck. Trying not to feel too bad and enjoy it and concentrate on better tomorrow.

VenusStarr take care of yourself - steroids make you hungry and your body needs to heal.

Turn the screw - I find holidays the worst as I have loads of carbs and I find they make me more hungry so it takes me a while to get back to normal. But also I want to enjoy holidays. And be thin. Ffs!

poorpaws · 11/08/2021 08:03

Good morning all

It’s looking quite dark and cloudy out there today. No doubt I’ve still got to walk miles with the dogs!

@VenusStarr I hope you are feeling much better after your procedure. I am sure you are are allowed sick leave from the diet until you feel 100% 😀 take good care of yourself and sending you a hug.

@badgerswitharms You’ll soon make up for the wine, another day to start a new today. No good feeling bad it’s done, put it behind you. We haven’t got a naughty step yet.

I’m doing really well at the moment, I’m actually whispering that because if I say it too loudly I am bound to break into the chocolate! I think the combination of worry and excitement about this dog coming is taking my mind off food. I was really worried yesterday because she was the only girl dog in the kennels without reserved on her. I texted the lovely lady in charge and the dog is reserved for me, she just hadn’t had time to put it on the website. I’m stressing also because I don’t know when she’s actually coming here And now she’s mine rather than a dog in a kennel I want her out of there and into a cosy bed here. I’ve been stressing like hell but it is good for the diet. Also with three dogs to feed (and lots of new things to buy for her) I won’t be able to afford a lot of food for me so that’s a diet in itself 🥴.

Enjoy your Wednesday everyone and we’ll just keep plodding on.

Bjarnum · 12/08/2021 12:28

Well done everyone for hanging in there - it is so easy to get discouraged and fall face down into something tasty! On the exercise side I took the dog for a short walk and got lost! Hours later my lovely son-in-law came and found me. I hopped on the scales this morning confident I must have plummeted . Nope. 4oz.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 12/08/2021 13:26

Just did my first workout today in about a week, it didn't go that well but at least it's something.

I was feeling a bit dodgy for a few days after vaccination so just left it. Hopefully back on track now after a couple of weeks where I took my eye off the ball.

I hope everyone is doing good!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 12/08/2021 13:39

Hello all. I walked to work today (2miles). I can't normally do it as DC2's school is a mile in the opposite direction, making it 4 miles including drop off, and I often need the car in the working day. But she's at a club on the way to work today, and I'm in the office all day so no excuses! Food intake not bad, not great. Must focus a bit more.
