Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

@VonWeasel I think you might be right about me not wanting to go too crazy, have just done another weigh in, and I'm only 0.25lb up, if I can weigh in tomorrow with a stay the same, then I'm fully motivated for the next few weeks with no distractions at all.

What dinners is everyone having this week? I'm about to go to the supermarket and need some inspiration, when it's properly hot or properly cold I find it much easier to plan than this incessant drizzle.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 04/07/2021 10:53

I don't know how helpful my meal plan will be, as I'm not doing diet dinners, but trying to lose by sorting out breakfast, lunch and snacks (no snacks apart from fruit). I have mildly fussy DC and can't be bothered cooking separate meals. This week we're have chicken satay skewers with noodles, lentil and bacon soup (two nights), roast chicken, cold spuds and salad, egg fried rice with prawns and mushrooms, and toad in the hole.

I was supposed to record my weight in Sundays, but as I've not lost anything I'll defer to Monday and sync up with you all in the desperate hope of losing a little by then 😁.

Really frustrated that I still can't walk far, but trying to rest lots in the hope of recovering in time for our (UK) holiday at the very end of July.

My lovely neighbour just delivered a large slice of homemade apple and tayberry pie with clotted cream. My OH ate the slice shown and I had a small slice (less than half of this) without the cream. I’m feeling quite saintly now 😇 it was absolutely delicious.

Great looking pie, great willpower!

poorpaws · 04/07/2021 14:30

@TheTurn0fTheScrew it took every ounce of willpower I could muster. Tbh if it wasn’t weighin tomorrow I couldn’t have done it. The neighbour who made the pie is also on a diet but she’s having a few days off 😀 in my opinion that’s how the rot sets in unless you’re on holiday or there’s a special occasion. I really want this weight off for ever this time, I desperately don’t want to fail.

you are right poorpaws, it's too easy to give yourself a day or two off and then lose focus. However, I did give in a to home made chocolate fondant today. I'm trying to teach the kids to cook, and when it's their turn to take a lead they get to pick the menu. In my defence I didn't have ice cream on the side like the others did.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 04/07/2021 22:08

@muddledmidget I'm making sausage carbonara and chorizo & mushroom frittata this week, both from the Two Chubby Cubs cookbook. I don't mind having something like frittata with veg/ salad in this weather but salad on its own is a bit miserable when it's unseasonably cold outside!

Amazing job on resisting the pie @poorpaws! Gosh I love fruit pies!! Luckily I'm not keen on cream and will happily have them without or with a massive bowl of custard

I did a long (well, for me) run yesterday and have been busy today doing a very overdue spring clean - lots of moving furniture, dusting, vacuuming - haven't been mega strict on food but will see at tomorrow's weigh in if my calories out exceeded calories in...

MegBusset · 05/07/2021 07:12

Morning all :) another week closer to the end of term!

Scales have been all over the place this week so wasn't sure if I'd get a loss, but have managed 1lb off which I'll take:

SW: 10st 2lb
CW: 9st 8.6lb
GW: 9st 4lb

Also had a nice non-scale victory yesterday when I fit into my jeans for the first time in months!

Hope everyone has a good loss and a good week.

Menora · 05/07/2021 07:30

Morning all. A good loss last week of 6lb total

SW: 15st
CW: 14st 8lb
GW: 11st

orangejuicer · 05/07/2021 07:34

Steak salad with baby potatoes for tea tonight. Currently on day 3 of the re start!

poorpaws · 05/07/2021 07:43

Morning all

Just 1/2 lb off for me which I’m pleased with because it’s better than nothing. I promised myself on Day 1 that no matter how small the loss I would be pleased (good attitude I think), and I’m very nearly half a stone down since we started (just 1/4 lb off half a stone 😀).

Well done @MegBusset and @Menora, it’s such a great feeling to get a loss (and hopefully keep it off).

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I’m so pleased now I didn’t eat the large piece of pie.

Good luck for those still to weigh. Remember if you have a small loss, it’s still a loss.

We are doing well!.

@orangejuicer well done on re-starting. Steak salad is one of my favourites.

Room for anyone else? I have 3 stone to lose after lockdown and antidepressants had me sitting and sitting and sitting (and eating crisps)

Doing WW Blue with DH who has done it before, lost weight and then not maintained. The last time I was on a diet was the gestational diabetes diet which was very good for that purpose and I didn’t gain any weight in the last 3 months of pregnancy. That baby is now four and I’ve made up for it since

I’m one week in

Sw 13.3
CW 13
GW 10.3

7% there after a week.

poorpaws · 05/07/2021 08:19

@MegBusset I just realised I missed your no-scale victory, brilliant work. I think they are as good, if not better than the weight loss on the scales. It’s an amazing feeling when you can at last get into something smaller. It hasn’t happened to me yet but I can hardly wait. Sadly most of my clothes are two sizes too small as the weight went on so quickly so I’ll have to be patient. BUT I WILL GET THERE! well done.

Thanks, going ok so far! I've really struggled with my weight the last few years (since DS was born) and I really want to be successful this time!

poorpaws · 05/07/2021 08:24

@CarrotVan always room for one more and welcome. Good first week so keep it up. We are all doing quite well, considering how difficult it is! Keep posting on your journey (I hate the term journey for some reason) but keep in touch.

FunnyWonder · 05/07/2021 08:25

I've just had to copy and paste this from a thread about garment steamers, where I posted it by mistake. I don't even know what I was doing on there! My weight loss this week has clearly been brain mass😂

@Menora that is utterly brilliant. 6lb!

@poorpaws and @MegBusset great, you're both similar to me, as I've lost 1lb.

I'm very pleased as it was nothing last week and I vowed to give up the Saturday self sabotage - but didn't! So I can't be anything but satisfied with 1lb.

Off to get changed for my run/plod. I've been up for ages and if I don't go now, I'll start looking for excuses not to.

Have a good day everyone.

poorpaws · 05/07/2021 08:27

@orangejuicer you sound very positive and I desperately want this weight gone. It’s like wearing a huge duvet and I hate it. I’m doing everything in my power to make this work this time (so many failures). Keep this up and you’ll feel great.

VenusStarr · 05/07/2021 08:28

Morning, can I join you? I finally weighed myself this morning and really disgusted with myself and sad. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I am trying not to be too hard on myself as I've had a tough 2 years with 5 miscarriages (my last one was in June after ivf). Part of my treatment is also steroids, so they have definitely not helped. But I think this is my rock bottom, so I'm determined to get at least a stone off. I have a wedding in August, so that's a good date to work towards and hoping I'll be 7lbs down by then. I did slimming world about 18 months ago and did manage to lose a stone then (slowly!) so I'm going to do a combination of that but track on mfp and increase my exercise.

Started my day with oat milk porridge and raspberries, lunch will be chicken salad and dinner is slimming world carbonara with broccoli.

CarrotVan · 05/07/2021 08:37

@VenusStarr I am also the heaviest I’ve been (except full term with 9lb baby) and have been through the hell of multiple miscarriage. Fingers crossed for that 7lb win

poorpaws · 05/07/2021 08:50

@VenusStarr welcome. Your post made me feel so sad, I too was at my heaviest ever weight when I started this thread and I’m very nearly 7lbs down and others here have done better than me. Chin up and you know when you reach rock bottom, there’s only one place to go. Take good care of yourself and do keep posting, we are a caring group.

@FunnyWonder that’s just the kind of thing I would do, you made me chuckle, I honestly could easily do the same. Good work on the 1 lb loss.

I’m obsessed with this thread on Monday morning wait for your results. It’s like election days but more exciting. I’ve managed breakfast and a shower between reading posts but I’m not dressed yet and the dogs keep looking at me with “where’s our walk” eyes.

Morning all.
Well done MegBusset, Menora, Poorpaws, CarrotVan and FunnyWonder. It's very inspiring to hear about you all shrinking.

VenusStarr I was the fattest I'd been (pregnancy included) in April. We can do this.

Sadly the scales haven't shifted here. Not unexpected - must try harder. No gain at least. I am back in a pair of size 14 non-stretchy jeans though, which is a recent development

SW (April 2021) 13st 4
CW: 12st 3
GW: 11st

Looking for a buddy am going to do Intermittent fasting and low carbs , being veggie i find not having carbs really hard any suggestions on what to eat other than eggs , salads and some of the fruits allowed ? have 2 stone to lose . Feel crap

Guestdressquery · 05/07/2021 09:21

Good morning, all! Well done on the losses - it's pretty inspiring :)

I had an ok weekend. Lots of walking so smashed my step count but perhaps a little less water than usual.

Yesterday's meals:
B: 1 slice toast, 1 egg and smoked salmon. Small bowl of strawberries.
L: toast, carrots, low fat hummus and small bit of chorizo.
D: pasta with vegetable bolognese. 4 squares chocolate.
Snack: seared tuna sashimi.

Measured myself today. No further loss on waist but a good 3-4mm off my hips so am delighted!

Good luck this week, all.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 05/07/2021 10:13

Morning everyone! I woke up and forgot that it's weigh in morning, and went and had my coffee as usual.
Anyway, still down a pound on last week, which is good.

SW: 10st 11.8lbs
CW: 10st 7.8lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

The weigh-ins really keep me motivated, even just if I have a bad day to get back on the horse and keep going.

I keep telling myself 'slow and steady wins the race' Grin.
