Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

I just realised we are 4 weeks in Smile. If it wasn't for the accountability of this thread, I probably would have given up about 3 weeks ago!

muddledmidget · 05/07/2021 10:41

Morning!

I've just weighed in, and the results are better than expected, nowhere near your 7lb lost in total @poorpaws, but over the 4 weeks I've lost or stayed the same every week, which considering I've had 2 weeks away is a win in my eyes!

SW 12st7.
CW 12st4.
GW 9st7.

Am now at home until September, so looking forward to seeing what I can achieve. Thank you for all the support, it definitely helps knowing I have to come on here and admit it

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/07/2021 11:17

Well done to all on the losses!! A massive half pound off for me this week - which I'm slightly grumpy about given how much running/ Shredding I've done, but better than nothing...

SW 14st
CW 12st 7.5lb
GW 10st 6lb

@VenusStarr sending Flowers for your miscarriage news and IVF journey. I had IVF too and it was tough. I know when I did it the dietician recommended eating plenty of protein (for egg quality, I think?) which can also help with weight loss.

The DC have three weeks left at school Shock which means I could actually finish C25K this time, I'm currently at w7. Just not sure how I will manage any weight loss in August if I'm so dependent on exercise as we'll be away for 2 1/2 weeks?! I don't eat massive amounts, I think it's just my metabolism constantly needs kicking to actually shed any pounds. Damn you perimenopause Sad

Menora · 05/07/2021 11:23

I only lost 6lb because I lost nothing in week 1 and this is a 2 week effort 😂
I’m bracing myself for lower losses now though
I also measured my waist

It is awful feeling disgusted with yourself, people will still tell you that you look nice though trying to be kind. Be kind to yourself too

Menora · 05/07/2021 13:04

I’ve bought some bits today, has anyone tried these? I got some flaxseed and chia to add to food to try to fill me up a little bit more
Also bought some chocolate oat milk as I’m missing chocolate so much, I wonder if this will take out that craving a little

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/07/2021 13:09

I can't say that flaxseed and chia have filled me up as such @Menora but they are supposed to be good for you!

I really like Choc Shot or JimJams spread for a lower calorie chocolate hit - you can get them both in bigger Tescos/ Sainsburys as well as H&B.

Menora · 05/07/2021 13:11

Thanks, I was hoping maybe to up my protein too

I just ate a small jacket potato and was stuffed! I think the 2 pints of water helped 😂

MegBusset · 05/07/2021 14:23

I can't eat flaxseed, it makes me really bloated. I like chia seeds though, Ryvita do some nice chia seed crackers.

Menora · 05/07/2021 15:03

I love chia seeds, I am not sure about flax! I keep reading about protein pancakes and powders you add to things but slimfast I think is whey, and makes me seriously unwell with gas/bloating/upset stomach so I was looking for something else that isn’t made of bloody whey 😂

Good morning everyone and well done to all the losers yesterday.

Does anyone want to join me in setting a mini goal? I know some of you have holidays/a special occasion to work to but for the rest of us I am wondering about setting your own goal for the end of August.

I’ve got a lot to lose yet so I need to break my weight loss into bite size pieces to try to keep on track. So from yesterday it’s 8 weeks and I’d like to be 7 lbs lighter, so 11st 3lbs by then. Anyone care to join me?

You all know about the 7th week of dieting? That’s the most likely week that even the most dedicated give up because it gets monotonous and boring and the initial excitement and resolve fades. This mini challenge includes our 7th week so I’m hoping we can all get past this with a shorter time frame to a goal. Anyone up for a mini challenge?

I really struggled last night and did eat more than I should have but not massively so but I need to make sure this doesn’t become a habit.

Have a good day whatever you are doing and try not to give in to temptation. 😬

I want to be a size 14 to go to a wedding in September

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/07/2021 09:12

A mini-goal sounds like a great idea. It's my birthday in late August, so I'd like to be about 140lbs by then. That is a 7 pound weight loss in 6 weeks - difficult but (hopefully) doable!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/07/2021 11:28

a mini goal sounds great.
my weight loss is slow ATM, so I will aim for 4lb, roughly 1/2lb each week. This would also take me to under 12st, and my BMI under 25, which would be lovely.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/07/2021 12:34

A mini goal sounds great @poorpaws. I've struggled with motivation yesterday and today as I was very much hoping for more than a half pound loss Sad trying to pick myself back up today and make some better plans and not scoff lots of chocolate

poorpaws · 06/07/2021 14:22

I am so pleased so many of you are up for a mini goal.

I felt last night my resolve was fading fast as I still have so much to lose and it seems a mammoth task but if I concentrate on half a stone by the end of August it seems more manageable. Also with setting our own goals we know exactly what we can and can’t do no matter how small the goal. It’s given me a new purpose so thank you to the ones joining. We’ll see how well (positive talk here) we do and perhaps set another goal after August, we’ll see.

Food shopping tonight, I must not buy anything too calorific. I’m keeping this mantra in my head for when I’m walking around the supermarket.

Yes, a mini goal sounds great. I would be happy if the first number on my scales said 10 instead of 11 by the end of the month, which means 3lbs off. Definitely doable.

Menora · 06/07/2021 15:50

I get a bit demoralised by some other threads where everyone is cheating on themselves with foods and laughing about it - I know we all mess up and it’s not shameful but I don’t want to talk about all the lovely food as much 😂
I miss it too 😂

VenusStarr · 06/07/2021 17:33

Thank you all for the lovely welcome ☺️ I have adjusted my calorie setting on mfp, I think 1200 is too low, it's at 1350 now but that might still be too low. Not sure. My fitbit died yesterday 🤦🏻‍♀️ typical! But I need to build up to more exercise, I've been for 2 short walks today. I think I need some protein snacks, getting hungry mid-afternoon. Just having a cup of tea to keep me going until dinner! Any ideas for good, filling snacks?

I'm up for a mini goal - I have a wedding on 18th August, so about 6 weeks away and I'd like to be 7lb off by then. Still way above what I'd like to be, but maybe breaking it down into half stones is good.

MrsMime · 06/07/2021 17:40

Hi everyone I hope I can sneak back in... it's been a topsy-turvy few days. Firstly, a lovely weekend away with my DP (no kids - woohoo) and I wasn't dieting (sorry) but from an amazing high I hit a huge crash. One of my beloved cats was hit by a car yesterday and died so we've all been heartbroken. Exercise has gone out the window as I'm just too sad but I'm also too sad to eat as well. Just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know that I've not left this lovely group.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/07/2021 17:43

I read something recently about weight loss that said 'it doesn't matter how slow you go as long as you don't stop'.

Hopefully we can keep each other motivated, even when we happy the odd crappy day.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/07/2021 17:44

MrsMime I'm so sorry about your lovely cat Sad.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/07/2021 17:46

*have the odd crappy day.

We need an edit button.

VenusStarr · 06/07/2021 18:01

I'm sorry about your cat @MrsMime 💐

unicornsandchocolate · 06/07/2021 18:16

Hi all, I'm back after a hiatus. I've been ok but not as good as I should. My exercising is great but I'm still sneakily eating chocolate. I've decided to go off chocolate and Diet Coke for the summer. I am going to reward myself with new shoes (I've an eye on a pair) if I succeed. Do any of the rest of you have non-food rewards?

I saw a dreadful photo of myself last night, when I thought I was looking ok. It was quite upsetting. But it's just up to me to change things.
