Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

For years I ate as if it didn't count if I ate it quickly whilst standing up -my belly says different 😆

poorpaws · 15/06/2021 11:16

@Agadorsparticus @Startoftheyear2021
Welcome to you both. It’s nice to see some new people here. Stick with us, we are doing ok. We’ve all got different problem areas and food addictions so you’ll fit in nicely whatever your problem.

I am a chocoholic and it’s a really bad addiction so I’m trying to not eat any, it’s very difficult!

Hi! Can I please join too?

Like most people, I piled on the lbs during lockdown and after seeing some truly upsetting pictures I took action in August and lost almost 2 stone.

Due a number of life events I have been truly off the wagon for the past few months and have put on 9lbs. I need to get this off ASAP before I end up right back at square one.

I weighed in on Monday 12st 13lbs. At 5ft 8 I need to be 11st 11lbs to be ah the very top end of my normal BMI so this is my first goal.

I am doing what I was doing last time which is calorie counting and IF 16:8 and min 10k steps per day. I also have a PT consultation this afternoon as I really need to start weight training for any hope of making this sustainable long term. I have got struggled with my weight my whole life Sad

I was so hungry after day 1 that I didn’t sleep last night but I know I ate enough so it’s going to be a hard few weeks of feeling hungry until my body adjusts. When I started this last time it took 6 weeks for me to not feel perpetually starving which is a very long time but it got easier after that.

Reading about everyone else’s journeys really helps to keep me motivated Halo

notevenamum1 · 15/06/2021 14:52

Had my PT consult this afternoon. Got weighed and measured including body fat% 😬 I start next week so at least I got the ball rolling today

MrsMime · 15/06/2021 17:09

Oops. Managed to scoff 2 shortbread biscuits during a (really boring) staff meeting today Confused. Feeling a bit cross with myself but it will not de-rail me!

Eviebeans · 15/06/2021 17:38

Had a good day -eaten my own body weight in vegetables (almost) so far this week. If I don't lose weight I will at least be healthier.

unicornsandchocolate · 15/06/2021 21:27

Day #9. Food ok, exercise good but I've just poured a glass of wine (trying not to drink it in the house) as I've had a crazy day at work and am just in the door. It's been too busy to log on MFP but will get back on that tomorrow.
I'm thinking of doing the 6 week Sweat challenge starting on Monday. Anyone done a Sweat challenge before?

Guestdressquery · 15/06/2021 21:38

An ok day - v.tiring on the work front. 11k steps done, not quite 2l water (and too muc black coffee). No (time for) snacks.

B: overnight oats, strawberries, almonds
L: toast, carrot sticks, low fat hummus. 2 squares dark chocolate.
D: watermelon and halloumi salad. Bread roll. 2 squares dark chocolate.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/06/2021 22:22

I haven't done a Sweat challenge @unicornsandchocolate but am trying to run or Shred every day even though the Shred nearly killed me this morning - what do you do for your 6 week challenge? I do like a challenge or structured course, it really helps me to focus, and having an 'end date' gives me something to work towards (even if I immediately start a new challenge afterwards!).

I've stuck to my WW points today although I did include some (home made, WW recipe!) chocolate brownie - it's AF time and I desperately needed a bit of chocolate...

unicornsandchocolate · 15/06/2021 23:26

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl it's a Kayla Itsines app. You've to pay for it which is a pain but essentially it's 3 HIiT sessions a week. The challenge means there is group doing it at the same time and a "community" cheering you on which I think will motivate me. I've done sweat workouts before but not a challenge though.
I was an avid shredder for years and think it's great, but now need a change!

Startoftheyear2021 · 15/06/2021 23:42

I did ok today. Started on MFP and was pretty good. Onwards and upwards (or downwards I suppose)!

Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 07:15

Morning everyone. Had a goodish day yesterday - caved in the evening and snacked on peanuts in front of the TV. A new day tho so will see how it goes.

FunnyWonder · 16/06/2021 07:32

I was ok yesterday. Far from perfect, but ok. I did what I said I should stop doing and nibbled on this and that - a crisp here, a couple of nuts and raisins there - but not as bad as usual! I did some walking and had a generally busy, active day.

I've done a 30 min run this morning and won't have breakfast until about 9.00, after I've dropped DS to school. If I eat breakfast too early, I spend the rest of the day chomping!

Have a good day everyone!

muddledmidget · 16/06/2021 07:49

Yesterday was OK,

Breakfast: poached egg on toast
Lunch: leftover veggie mince with toast
Dinner: roasted med veg with sausages and mozzarella
Snacks: a couple of biscuits sneaked in about 9.30, should have just brushed my teeth after dinner

Also did my 10k steps and drank 2 litres of water. Plus a sneaky weigh in shows I've lost the 1lb I put on while on holiday

poorpaws · 16/06/2021 08:07

Morning everyone.
Well everyone is saying I did ok yesterday so I’ll say that too. Was a bit lazy during the day because of the heat but around 8.30pm had terrible guilt because the dogs hadn’t had their walk (they were suffering with the heat too) so took them out for about 45 mins. Not our usual 2 hours but better than nothing and I was so pleased I did because I just managed my 10k steps.

No idea about today, I’ve got plenty to do outside but if this heat carries on I’ll probably melt into a garden chair with a cold diet! drink 😀

Keep trying everyone. The scales aren’t moving for me so far this week but there’s plenty of time left. Food shopping this evening will be mainly strawberries and raspberries I think (and fruit ice lollies).

Welcome @notevenamum1 happy to have more people joining us and good luck with your weight loss.

Morning all, not a bad day yesterday. Salad sort of nicoise (no olives or dressing) and a yoghurt for lunch and broccoli and asparagus omelette for supper. One light digestive and some frozen berries with yoghurt across the day. Walked the dog for 1.5 hours.
Stay strong today everyone!

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 16/06/2021 09:45

After being depressed yesterday and weighing myself and finding me back to start weight (I've only been doing it a week!) I weighed today and I'm now back to where I was when I weighed last week. Knock on of Sunday's bbq I think!

It's getting a balance isn't it, my friend brought me back some chocolate from France which reminds me of my great aunt! Had to have some so went for a walk first 🤣.

This morning I've run a mile, walked a mile (too hot to take dogs on the run) and just had a spinach and cheese omelette. I've religiously weighed the butter and cheese! Only 15g and it was more than enough

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/06/2021 10:20

Thank you @unicornsandchocolate, I'll have a look at that! I'm trying to run or Shred every day at the moment and do some work on my core - I still have terrible DR almost six years after giving birth - but it's always interesting to find out about new options. I think because I don't know many people IRL who seem to be on a weight loss journey, it's really useful for me to talk to people on the internet and discuss how things are going.

I don't know if anyone else finds this but I sometimes find this process quite lonely - might be because I'm one of life's 'joiners', always went to WW and gym classes etc! - I find it more encouraging to be in a real or virtual community, whereas some people would rather crack on on their own. DP keeps telling me he wants/ needs to lose weight (he is around 22 stone) but will do zero about it Hmm; even when I try to get us more active as a family and set a good example to the DC, he'll grumble and moan and just sit down as soon as he can Sad

However, he's at work now and I have done w4r2 of the C25K. Finished an hour ago and am still a fetching tomato colour Grin have a good day everyone!

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 16/06/2021 11:09

Didn't have a great day yesterday - I went over my calorie allowance, and only did a gentle yoga class in the evening.

Going to go for a long walk later, but I have PMT and not feeling very motivated food or exercise wise, I'm seriously craving sugar and crap and have no energy.

Anyway, hope it's just a blip and I can get back on track.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 16/06/2021 12:38

I really fancied crisps so weighed out 15g from a big pack. Actually it was enough to satisfy my craving and a tiny amount of the calories I'd normally eat!!!

FunnyWonder · 16/06/2021 12:53

@WeWantAMackerelNotASprat That is fantastically disciplined. Crisps are by far my biggest issue. Everybody else can have the chocolate (well, ok, leave me a wee bit), the biscuits and cake, but I want ALL the crisps!

unicornsandchocolate · 16/06/2021 13:43

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I'm absolutely the same. I find it so hard to do these things in my own-I need support and company!

I had chocolate this morning but had a light lunch and will try to be good this afternoon. No exercise today as I'm just too hot. I'm happy not exercising every day but as long as it's 4 days a week I'm ok.
Crisps are also a downfall of mine-you showed amazing restraint! Keep going everyone!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/06/2021 14:36

Chocolate for me too @unicornsandchocolate (I blame AF time!) - only a little bit though. And I put it on my WW tracker Halo

I think the accountability of joining a group helps me too (for example, knowing you're going to weigh in on a particular day) but I like having a schedule: do x on day 1, do y on day 2, try not to eat z if you can help it. I did Second Nature a while back and it was useful at the beginning but I was in a massive group and it became overwhelming, which was a shame as the underlying idea was great. I don't mind joining big groups like WW or SW if I know they're big before I join, but joining something that promises individual attention and then getting swamped was no fun Confused

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 16/06/2021 16:36

@FunnyWonder I surprised myself 🤣

Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 19:22

Hi everyone
B = ryvita and cheese spread
L =meat free sausages and salad in a wrap
Chocolate ice - so hot today that I couldn't resist
D = Sea bass fillet
My downfall today has been the crisps
