Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Well done everyone

Three pounds off for me

I planned every meal and snack and drink
Went out for dinner on Friday and factored that into the plan

MrsMime · 14/06/2021 08:39

Morning all! I've lost 4 lbs this week so I'm really happy and feeling motivated. My partner has done well too :)
SW: 11.5
CW: 11.1
GW: 9.4

MrsMime · 14/06/2021 08:39

Well done everyone :)

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 14/06/2021 10:12

Wow, everyone's doing great. I waited till this morning to weigh in, but I'm down more than 2 lbs from last week yay!

SW: 10st 11.8lbs
CW: 10st 9.4lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

Food wise I was a bit hit and miss, but I'm definitely getting into the mindset of have a little treat rather than scoff the whole packet of biscuits!

Also trying to do something active everyday. I'm going to do another workout this afternoon, then tomorrow is my online yoga class. Hope everyone has a good day.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 14/06/2021 10:14

Well done to everyone who's lost - or even those who haven't but are still plodding along!!

I'm down 2lb today but it's taken six weeks for me to lose this 2lb 'properly' - I lost 3lb in one go unexpectedly and since then have yo-yo'd up and down for ages. Pah! I was really hoping to be 4lb lower by now. I'll take this as my SW and go from here, as I still have 32lb to go :

SW:12st 10lb
GW: 10st 6lb

I did w4r1 today on my way home after school drop off. It was reeeeeally hot and a couple of pensioners looked at me with concern as I slogged past them incredibly slowly and dripping with sweat. @FunnyWonder Ms Tomato Face was back with a vengeance!!

poorpaws · 14/06/2021 19:28

Evening everyone

Had a lovely day out and my lunch was absolutely lovely. Settled on a home made ham ploughman’s. Too much bread I know but it was delicious.

I’ve had too much sun today so I feel a bit sickly.

Some great losses. So who is our Slimmer of the Week - any advance on @MrsMime 4 lbs?

Very well done everyone. Let’s all keep up the good work.

Day #8. Well done on all the losses-very motivating! Maybe I should get a scales. My day as been fine but I did have some crisps this eve before dinner (another bad habit). But now I've posted I shouldn't eat anything else as then I'll need to post again!

FunnyWonder · 14/06/2021 20:23

@poorpaws That ploughman's looks delicious. Just add a wee glass of white wine ... ! Ok, maybe not.

poorpaws · 14/06/2021 20:41

@FunnyWonder 😀 naughty!

I should also add that my other half had a huge waffle ice cream and the dogs had a toddler ice cream each, I had nothing 😇 (first time ever).

You've all inspired me to do better than last week, so today I've had a poached egg and tomato on toast, a tuna baguette and sausages with roast potatoes and a massive pile of veg. Plus I've been to the gym and gone on a 4 mile wall so have achieved 20k steps.

FunnyWonder · 14/06/2021 21:02

@muddledmidget That's the spirit! Coming on here and reading people's posts has really helped me to keep on track. There's some inspiration and some accountability.

poorpaws · 14/06/2021 21:14

@muddledmidget and @FunnyWonder

“There’s some inspiration and some accountability”

... and no judgement! (I think that’s important. We are here to support each other and not to judge).

@poorpaws well done on resisting the ice cream temptation!! Halo Halo

Day 1 of WW done, all food pointed and added to my tracker, I am feeling rather saintly too. Also it stopped me eating toast and marmalade earlier when I was peckish so can't be bad Grin gosh I love toast and marmalade

I'm finding the Joe Wicks programme on Netflix quite inspirational actually. It's astonishing how much weight (and how many inches) people can lose in a short space of time, but also how good it's making them feel! I'd be interested to find out how many of them stuck to it after the cameras stopped rolling - it was made in 2016 - to see if they made their target weight/ body shape and if they continue to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Well done on your day @muddledmidget, glad we have all helped!

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 15/06/2021 06:20

@Eviebeans

I keep trying to bear in mind that the weight didn't all go on in a week and won't come off in a week -need to learn patience
@Eviebeans so true!

Before I hit 40 I could easily adjust my weight in a couple of weeks, cut out bread and moderate sugar and job was done! I can't do that now so like you I need to remember that this weight has been on me for over a year so if I get half a stone off by the summer hols I'll be happy!!

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 15/06/2021 06:25

@MegBusset I read your post and thought you were me! I'd like to get down to 9 stone though!

I've not weighed yet as had a big weekend (although did damage limitation like has been mentioned) and stuck to calories all last week.

Thankfully a friend at work is also trying to lose about a stone so we are power walking every lunchtime! (and not nipping to the coop for a bar of chocolate 🤣)

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 15/06/2021 06:39

Well that's depressing, back up to start weight 😫. I've been so good all week logging everything and only Sunday was crappy so thought I'd see a shift (I did weigh last week and had lost 3lbs) all back on 😭😭

Eviebeans · 15/06/2021 07:15

I've probably got relatively little weight to lose -just over half a stone would be great. I say that having lost 2 stone in first lockdown and having put half a stone back on in the last few months. I'm hoping to be able to reach that balance where I can eat some of the things I like without an impact on my weight. I'm 58 so it is more difficult to lose weight. But not impossible!🤞

poorpaws · 15/06/2021 07:54

Good morning everyone, what are you all up to today? Whatever you are doing I hope you all have a lovely day (the last of the really hot days) and manage to eat less.

I have to drive to fetch some Balustrade spindles for the garden (we got the amount wrong that we thought we wanted). I’ve got a shorter walk with the dogs because I’m still stinging from too much sun yesterday. I have delphiniums to plant but that might not get done. I’ve already got one load of washing in and another 2 to go. Oh the excitement that is my life!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone and try and keep to plan if you can.

Good morning! I am just working today, so nothing too exciting (I have both a F/T and a P/T job which is great for my finances but bad for the amount of spare time I have). And also chugging along with paperwork for selling my flat.

A decent day yesterday. Only 7k walked but work was manic so even that was pretty good. 2l water drunk.

B: overnight oats, strawberries, almonds.
L: crackers, tomatoes, olives, cheese.
(Snack: a few cubes of cheese, almonds, a couple of raisins)
D: homemade curry, rice (small bowl) and 2 squares dark chocolate.

A PP upthread reminded me of the "eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full" thing which was my mantra for many years after I first read it on the back of a Pret sandwich while at uni (!). I must get back into that habit.

Agadorsparticus · 15/06/2021 08:29

I'd like to join please. Put on at least a stone and I was overweight to begin with. Not been this big in years and enough is enough. My poor habits include buying wine by the box, snacking and eating when not hungry. Picking up a chocolate biscuit every time I step into the kitchen needs to stop.
I've joined Les Mills which is great but I need to combine with eating better to see an improvement.
SW: 14.28
CW: 14.04
GW: 10 something

Lostmyunicorn · 15/06/2021 08:56

Morning everyone, weigh in for me this morning, I am down a measly pound but I did have wine at the weekend and a meal out so I shouldn’t complain. I’m determined to have a better week this week!

Startoftheyear2021 · 15/06/2021 09:00

Can I join a bit late please! Definitely need some motivation to lose the stone (plus) I've gained over the past year. @Agadorsparticus I could have written your post! Biscuits are just so easy to justify when I'm at home all day.
No great diet plans but I'll use MFP and I'm avoiding stupid things (like biscuits).
I'm about 11.5 stones and need to get down to 10.5 stones or lower if I can.
Thanks for the thread!

muddledmidget · 15/06/2021 09:07

Morning all,
Nothing exciting goin gin here today @poorpaws just a lot of chores before going back to work tomorrow, so new passport photos, buying yet more veg as the fridge is already empty, a big clean up and organising everything for the week (clothes and lunches) as well as figuring out a gift for fathers day.
At least this will be keeping me busy so less time for snacking, and keeping me moving especially if I walk to town

Meals for today:
Poached egg on toast
Leftover veggie bolognese with salad not pasta
Roasted veg with feta

Feel better in myself for a few days of eating well and making sure I drink plenty of water, even if I've not lost anything yet

FunnyWonder · 15/06/2021 09:28

Morning! I'm off to IKEA for some refunds and meatballs. I double ordered a mattress, so ended up with two and also ordered the wrong thing for a couple of items. This was during the last lockdown when I couldn't get to the physical shop. If you knew me, you'd just roll your eyes. If I don't come back with meatballs, the DC might disown me!

I've had a sudden flash of realisation about myself. I pick a lot during the day. So, if I spot a bag of sweets or bar of chocolate belonging to DP or the DC (because OBVIOUSLY they're not mine ...), I take 'just one' sweet/little piece. A couple of Pringles if there's an open box, a wee spoon of ice cream when I'm putting it out for everyone else. Of course, that's when I'm not just going hell for leather and eating all round me anyway. So, I need to stop this really, don't I?GrinGrin It all adds up (... to a belly I just follow around the place as if it isn't even part of me)
