May I lose more this month

Apologies, cannot remember who's idea this was for a thread title, but I have stolen it.

9st3.75 this morning, meaning I am 0.25 down from the start of April. Not great, but I did get up to 9st7 in April, so I'll take that. Would be delighted if I could lose a pound this month. Lets hope the weather picks up, I'm sure that will help everyone.

Changing rooms are like torture chambers aren't they? I never want to have to stand in a changing room trying on summer clothes or swimwear ever again.

We do this awful thing of automatically judging our body based on an idealised version of what bodies should like that (which is shrinkingly rare in reality) or of what we remember looking like 20 years earlier. It's literally painful and distressing.

No weigh in today. I'm still feeling ill and have mostly chilled and taken naps today to try and recover ready for a busy day at work tomorrow.

Octopus37 · 18/05/2021 20:02

@TheHoneyBadger yes they certainly are. Think I'm doubly fed up cause I found a photo of myself from when the kids were long when I was about a stone and a half lighter. Sorry to hear that you're still feeling ill, hope you managed to get some rest today. @NutellaEllaElla hope things are easing up for you. @HeyGirlHeyBoy good luck with your assignment. Thanks for the advice re exercise, I think something else could be the answer.

Thanks Nutella and octopus! Sitting down to it now. Aiming for 1000 words tonight.

Cuzco · 18/05/2021 21:38

Checking in - I need to read all of the posts properly so not ignoring you all, I'll read them tomorrow when I'm a bit more awake.

Still feeling unwell, but managed to dodge the showers and get out for a quick walk, and felt better for it. Reasonable food today; lunch was a home cooked leftovers guesstimate so the total might be slightly low, but after last night's takeaway, I've been trying to do better.

1,306 calories
15,334 steps

Octopus37 · 19/05/2021 07:08

Just realised in my post yesterday that I meant to say "when the kids were young" not "long". Wierdly 9st3.25 despite eating my body weight in bread yesterday, lots of steps though. Do feel inspired to do better though after yesterday. Taking my Dad back today so will be a busy day, although I am staying over.

I think you will have a sense of a fresh slate tomorrow octopus. Best of luck and well done on all you've done for him, it's not easy with your own family (teens as well?!) too X No change here.

Octopus37 · 19/05/2021 08:43

Thanks @HeyGirlHeyBoy, its certainly been difficult, Feel as if I've made a real mess of things tbh, but hopefully things can improve again when we have a bit of breathing space.

Ended up on about 13,000 steps yesterday and 1,632 calories which wasn't great. My 'back on it' focussed week finished on an average of 1,474 calories per day which isn't a disaster but obviously could have been better, but that's about 100 calories per day less than I've been since before Easter. I'm happy enough.

Weigh day today, 900g / 1.9lbs off so that's good. Now 76.2 kg which is apparently 11.99945 stone, but I'll take getting under 12 as another milestone!

Will now read up on everyone's news, I'm a bit behind.

Cuzco · 20/05/2021 09:49

Hope you get a bit of space now @Octopus. The whole body image thing is interesting. I wish more than anything, when I was about 16 - 19 years old and wasn't at all fat, but thought I was with fat thighs, I wish I'd had the knowledge that I wasn't and confidence to dress better. It really affected my demeanour too. It's also weird how we are unduly tough on ourselves about image, but equally not when it comes to excusing comfort eating (or at least that's me).

Did any of you see the Loose Women pic doing the rounds this week showing airbrushed/filtered and au natural? Fascinating, and heart warming. I think so much of how we view ourselves is very long term conditioning about what other people look like and now I'm wiser and older it makes me so angry because it's all bs.

That said, I still don't know what I'm going to do about my tummy. Since putting on beer pounds on my bum and hips at uni, I've been a size 16 for about 20 years but initially always had a gappy waistband. About 10-5 years ago I've filled out the waistband. Went up to a size 18 after having my first child and it was those jeans feeling a bit tight coming out of my maternity clothes after my second which has prompted this diet. I'm now easily back in size 16, but where previously it was always thighs and bum which would be tight, now it's waistband. My boobs have also shrunk and I'm not far off tummy being bigger than boobs. Argh.

Cuzco · 20/05/2021 09:52

Good luck with the assignment @HeyGirlHeyBoy

Hope you are feeling better now @TheHoneyBadger

Sorry for the overload of posts!

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2021 09:52

Disastrous week here really. Dread to think what the scales will say.

Hope things worked out ok with your dad octopus.

I need to get back on track. Going to the gym twice this weekend but haven’t been since last Saturday as I’m dependent on lifts. I’ve bought a moped so hopefully will be mobile again soon.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 20/05/2021 10:14

Not a great week here either but half way through assignment Star

NutellaEllaElla · 20/05/2021 11:39

Shite week here too. Solidarity.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2021 12:01

I'm sure some sunshine would help!

Well done HeyGirl. Keep going.

Octopus37 · 20/05/2021 16:06

Sorry to everyone who's having a shit week. Took my Dad up yesterday, all went smoothly luckily. Hardly any steps yesterday and went out for a meal and had pie and chips, even though the rest of the day wasn't too bad. Awful eating today cause I've been travelling and just hungry, dont know if there's a hormonal element. Also very few steps again cause have been travelling and the weather is now shite. Nevermind, tomorrow's a new day, I can start with a clean slate.

Octopus37 · 20/05/2021 16:07

Also weighed about three pounds heavier on my Sister's scales, but probably water.

OP posts:
NutellaEllaElla · 20/05/2021 16:19

Can't trust different scales either.

I agree about the weather, as soon as it's nice i swear i'm gonna cancel plans and just walk all day long.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2021 17:56

Glad you’re home safe octopus.

I have been binge eating crisps. Not good.

I think hormones are at play but still. Need to get a grip on myself.

Octopus37 · 21/05/2021 07:10

Hormones are mean, cannot believe how powerful they are sometimes. 9st3.5 here this morning, but wondering if my scales are out, pleased but expected to be loads more after a couple of days of hardly any steps. Glad its Friday. Hope this bloody weather picks up soon.

drspouse · 21/05/2021 14:44

Crap week, weigh in tomorrow, we shall see.

Octopus37 · 22/05/2021 08:07

Up today, 9st4.75 as had a cider and some Bombay mix last night. Aiming to do better today. Hope everyone has a good day and that the weather improves over the weekend.

OP posts:
NutellaEllaElla · 22/05/2021 08:20

I'm not weighing this week. Period arrived and i've been off more days than i've been on to be honest. I'm off the wagon and have 2 restaurant meals this weekend, plus family over to stay next weekend. I knew lockdown lifting would be a challenge. I'll have to be back on it full on in June.

drspouse · 22/05/2021 10:12

Totally predictable 1lb on. Going to try and have a better week.

stressbandit · 22/05/2021 10:26

So disappointed I've hardly been gym this week as I've been so worn out and I've not lost anything! It doesn't help I'm struggling so bad to stop eating chocolate etc. Really need to get my arse into gear this week.

TheHoneyBadger · 22/05/2021 14:16

Also not weighing. Shit week on the food front and didn’t get to go to the gym till today so it’s probably way up.

I did a really good hour on the treadmill today though and am going back tomorrow. It’s all repairable remember!
