Apologies, cannot remember who's idea this was for a thread title, but I have stolen it.

9st3.75 this morning, meaning I am 0.25 down from the start of April. Not great, but I did get up to 9st7 in April, so I'll take that. Would be delighted if I could lose a pound this month. Lets hope the weather picks up, I'm sure that will help everyone.

So I did manage to fast for a good 16 hours or so and have had fish rice and broccoli to eat today. Hopefully turning the corner on a week of rubbishness.

Will try to work hard again at the gym tomorrow. I'm busy researching hrt today because I think I might have had enough of this peri bollocks.

Octopus37 · 23/05/2021 09:43

Well done @TheHoneyBadger. Managed to eat a bit better yesterday, have decided to cut down on carbs, but not cut them out completely. Down a pound today. Feeling a bit under the weather, headache, coldy etc, hope it doesn't escalate, as have loads of work on this week and hae to take DS to a football tournament today.

@TheHoneyBadger, its interesting about the HRT, did you see that Davina programme the other week, I watched it on catch up last night. Also there was a good programme on Woman's Hour about menopause not long ago, I watched it on youtube. So many women are scared of HRT cause of all the stuff in the media about increased breast cancer risk a couple of decades ago, but the risks are actually very low and when you're under 50 the risk doesn't increase at all, cause its a case of topping up hormones not replacing them. Good luck

What do people do when they actually feel hungry but had their calorie allowance for the day?

NutellaEllaElla · 23/05/2021 11:17

Drink lots of water, brush your teeth and go to bed! Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2021 14:01

Eat loads of shit generally but I wouldn't recommend it stress.

What side was the Davina show on Octopus - I'd like to watch it.

Octopus37 · 23/05/2021 14:22

@TheHoneyBadger, it was on channel 4 aired on May 1st, couldn't watch it live cause my Dad was down. The programme was called Davina McCall: Sex, Myths and the Menopause. If you cannot get it on catch up, you might be able to get it on youtube, there are a a few links on youtube.

Thanks Octopus!

Worked hard at the gym again. Burnt a lot of cals on the treadmill then legs, bum, stomach and hips in the gym. Might be a bit sore tomorrow.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2021 16:13

I'm back to thinking about protein - bit pointless doing a load of resistance training then not having the protein to actually build muscle. There's such conflicting information about how much you should eat and the top end is ridiculous.

I've eaten a can of mackerel fillets, have soaked oats, seeds, almonds and protein powder to eat late tonight and am boiling a load of eggs for snacking. I should manage to get about 72g in today. The idea I could eat 2g per kg is mental.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/05/2021 21:16

Hi guys. Meekly checking in, assignment done but feeling a bit foolish after my great week last week, have not done well this week. Haven't had a chance to weigh but will in morning... It won't be good I know. The buns last Sunday opened the floodgates, you'd think I'd learn Hmm Oh well. Back on track, wallet staying home this week. Hope you're all well. Will go catch up now tho I think the thread has been quiet enough.

NutellaEllaElla · 23/05/2021 21:43

Well done on finishing your assignment. Please don't feel foolish at all. I guarantee I've done worse. Been out for 3 course meal this evening and have another booked tomorrow. It's great but also impossible to moderate, for me anyway.

Anyway, as Jordan Syatt says, you can't fuck this up unless you quit. We're far from quitting so we're doing well.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/05/2021 21:51

Thanks Nutella, appreciate that so much. I suppose I felt I was really 'winning' and then bam! And so quickly. Enjoy your meals, not like it's every night and at least it's in a vacuum as such.

drspouse · 23/05/2021 21:55

Ok day today and have various savoury snacks in for the week to help me keep off the biscuits.

NutellaEllaElla · 23/05/2021 22:13

This looks interesting, I haven't read all of it but thought others might want to have a look.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/05/2021 22:19

That's worthwhile Nutella, I'm glad I do have an awareness of lots of these things. Thank you. The idea of a weekly check in and plan is good.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2021 22:23

Well done on getting the assignment done HeyGirl. I know what you mean - for me it's almost as if feeling like I'm winning sets me off! I hit a new low last week and then nearly immediately starting bingeing on bloody crisps in a way I haven't for a long time.

So today - tin of mackerel, 4 boiled eggs and some ono. I have more ono in the fridge ready for when I get in from work tomorrow. Think I'll take steaks out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow evening to keep up the protein.

I have to keep getting protein into ds now too especially now he's going to the gym. He's 14, about 5'10 all of a sudden and 11st without being fat. He's a carbs and sugar monster so I'm trying to up his protein and encourage foods that will support the work he's doing in the gym.

Enjoy your meals nutella - at least it's real food you know? Better to indulge with real nice meals than eat crap and I bet it's good to go out after so long in lockdowns. I still haven't been to a pub or eaten out. May have to remedy that soon.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/05/2021 22:28

Absolutely Honeybadger, what's that about? It's almost a fear of doing well?! Confused

Octopus37 · 24/05/2021 07:08

Its a wierd thing isnt it, sets me off as well, never know if its self-sabotage or a false sense of security, in my case anyway. @HeyGirlHeyBoy glad you got your assignment done. @TheHoneyBadger interesting what you way about protein and your 14 year old. My DS plays a lot of football and is the same height and weight as yours, again without being fat. He eats bacon, omlettes etc, but could do with trying to steer hi away from all the carbs and sugar, not sure how successful I'll be.
Weighed 9st4.25 this morning, not enough water, was out for hours last night at a football tournament, wanted to limit loo trips. Ate less carbs yesterday, although did have three cold left over roast potatoes when I got home cause so hungry. Aiming for less not none.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/05/2021 07:44

Back to basics here - teeth, skin, water and a walk this evening. Food wise, aiming for 3 decent meals. 9st 1.75 so up two over the week [eye roll] It's self sabotage I think octopus.. Very weird psychology behind that!! Hope we all have a good week ahead!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/05/2021 08:20

I’ve managed to get mine into steak and chicken too now octopus but he does love his sugar and carbs and he won’t be able to carry on eating that way if he becomes less active. During lockdown I was worried he was putting on fat but as soon as he was back out with his mates on bikes and playing basketball it was gone.

I’m also up 2 at 13:7.8. I’m wary of giving us excuses but it has been shitty weather recently. Anyway onwards and upwards.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/05/2021 17:10

We have building works due to start at work so spent two hours after my teaching day ended clearing cupboards and rooms and lugging sets of decades old textbooks and boxing them up for removal. At least as much of a workout as the gym.

Haven't eaten yet but am on the g&t. Period is imminent according to the calendar but will see what happens. Hoping part of my gain is just pre period water retention.

Hope everyone's Monday went ok.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/05/2021 17:56

Hi all, what would I do without you!

Logging for today, feeling it a bit of an effort but not hungry at all, just the habit and the lure Angry
Berries and yoghurt, cappuccino
2xsoda bread 3 thin slices cheese and a pear
Chicken stir fry and basmati. Teeth not done but I'm shattered after last week so they'll be done before long and I'll be in bed with my book!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/05/2021 20:19

Well done heygirl.

I've had very small portion of ono, 2 boiled eggs and a portion of chicken and vegetable fried rice. About 45g+ of protein I think.

When I try to eat more protein I realise how little of it I usually eat.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/05/2021 20:27

Oh I'm the same! All sounds good there. I'm done with teeth and skincare potions now also. I manged a slow but long walk but water was just 2L today I'd say so must increase that!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/05/2021 20:52

Also 3days of ono in the fridge. Star
