Apologies, cannot remember who's idea this was for a thread title, but I have stolen it.

9st3.75 this morning, meaning I am 0.25 down from the start of April. Not great, but I did get up to 9st7 in April, so I'll take that. Would be delighted if I could lose a pound this month. Lets hope the weather picks up, I'm sure that will help everyone.

Ah, harking back to my youth is all Nutella! Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 27/05/2021 10:07

Well done HeyGirl.

I'm up again. I really need to go to the gym. The situation is: I have bought a scooter, I have insured it and taxed it and bought a new helmet as my last was nicked along with my scooter about 3.5 years ago which is the last time I rode a scooter.

Scooter has been bought so that I can go to the gym when my friend isn't free but.... I'm really nervous! I know I have to just push past it and get back on the horse as it were but I'm being a wuss.

Maybe today, day off, is the day I can push myself to get on and do it.

Period has calmed down a bit. Sorry for the tmi but it's quite a shock to have a really heavy period when you've gotten used to very light ones. My mum had really bad flooding around her menopause and I would really rather avoid that. It was hard to feel confident at work yesterday because even with tampon and towel it was still a worry.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/05/2021 10:09

Now nutella has mentioned the Chemical Brothers I can't stop playing the song in my head! I hadn't connected your name to the song till then.

Cuzco · 27/05/2021 11:50

Hi all, so much good news this week! Well done everyone. I've read it all, but I'm a few days behind so won't reply now to old posts. Just to say I hope the injury is ok now @stressbandit ?

And the sunshine certainly helps. I didn't think it was ever going to stop raining. I've been back on the steps like a demon (well, for all of two days) and I'm also finally making the most of mat leave as a lady wot lunches. So three pub lunches in the plan for this week... I'm not going to overly stress about it, but just try and be careful all the other times. And keep walking, and keep drinking water.

I've also had to buy new jeans. The big ones were ridiculous so the time had come. Managed to wedge myself into a size 14 for the first time since 2002! So now I've got a waistband to alert me if the pub lunches take their toll too much. 800g off last week. Had hoped for more with the walking, but tbh, probably shouldn't be surprised given the food,

@TheHoneyBadger Those periods sound like my mum and Grandma, and mine naturally. I can't cope with them so I have a coil fitted. I know they're not for everyone and people have valid concerns about the artificial hormones, but I've never had any problems and not having periods is bloody amazing.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/05/2021 15:31

Wohooh for new jeans!! Fabulous news for you!! I'm having a decaf cappuccino here with my book for my mid afternoon slump! So bloody tired.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/05/2021 17:04

Well done cuzco. I'm considering getting a mirena fitted because at some point sooner rather than later I'll need HRT and you can't have oestrogen without having progesterone and in the past the mini pill (progesterone only) made me bat shit crazy. I've been assured by several women who were the same with the mini pill that the mirena has been fine - I think it's quite low dose and localised effect. So the hope is if I'm already getting progesterone through the coil they'll let me have oestrogen patches and not insist on me taking progesterone orally.

I braved going out on my scooter today. I'm waiting for something to be delivered and then I'm going to try braving riding to the gym (busier roads and traffic and roundabouts so nervous but need to get over my nerves).

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/05/2021 18:59

Oh good luck Honeybadger! Hope it goes well.
Logging for the day.
Ono and cappuccino
Ratatouille and apple and pear
Chicken stir fry with veg and noodles.
Water intake reasonable, unfortunately walk impossible after all.

Octopus37 · 27/05/2021 20:29

@Cuzco well done on the new jeans. @TheHoneyBadger sounds like a mirena will be a good idea for you. Hope that you manage to get to the gym. @HeyGirlHeyBoy that new low is fantastic, 8st13 is brilliant. I need to get on it properly again, but need to sort myself out mentally a bit first. Think I might speak to the GP about HRT cause I'm struggling with my mood and other peri stuff. My nephew is getting married at the end of August. When his brother got married in 2014 I weighed 8st6 and thought I was too big then. I would be delighted in I could lose a stone for the wedding but recognise that a stone in three months might be a tall order.

Checking in after another good day! Thankfully. I weighed myself this morning and was 3lbs off my maintenance goal.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 27/05/2021 20:48

Wow Nutella, amazing!! And you were so hard on yourself so recently! Octopus, how in earth did you think yourself too big at that weight?! But you know your best weight best. Something nice to look forward to and good motivation! Teeth brushed, strawberries and Greek yoghurt ready for the morning, lunch packed and sat and sun overnight oats prepped. Ready to sit down to Friends reunion.

Octopus37 · 28/05/2021 07:44

Well done @NutellaEllaElla. @HeyGirlHeyBoy yes I did think I was too big then, probably cause I'd been down to 8st that year. Saying that It will motivate me, cause even though I have seen my BIL and SIL a couple of time since then, I hate the thought of anyone looking at me and thinking 'god she's put on weight. Know that sounds vain and ridiculous. Not enough steps yesterday, just under 10,000, but my back's playing up, also one of those just wanting to eat carbs days, so 9st4.5 this morning.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 28/05/2021 07:45

Big, unexpected jump down for me today to 8st12.25. That's the lowest since I would say last Nov/early Dec. Thrilled. My aim has to be now to make sure I don't get hungry. Large portion of stir fry leftovers set for work lunch today. Happy Friday all. Raining torrentially here!

Octopus37 · 28/05/2021 09:18

Wow well done @HeyGirlHeyBoy

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 28/05/2021 16:11

Thanks octopus. Delighted but nervous Grin

I was gifted a little homemade cookie by a child today so I ate it. Not too worried, v much separate to my binging solo so no biggie. Had my big lunch and just over the 2L water mark around now, possibly more. Enjoy your Friday evening all!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 28/05/2021 19:58

Done for the day, teeth and skincare too.
Strawberries and Greek yoghurt
Chicken stir fry leftovers, no noodles, large portion
Breaded fish, beans and chips (DH on duty!)
Water close to 3L mark.
Now feet up with a book and a Netflix.

NutellaEllaElla · 29/05/2021 00:56

A good day here, for some reason i'm far more awake far later than usual. Have used the time to prep for tomorrow/today where we're making dinner for relatives. It'll be an indulgent day.

Hope everyone enjoys the bank holiday weekend!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/05/2021 06:43

You have a bank hol there? Ours is not till next week! Enjoy all. I woke as per a work day so think will just go with it, get my walk in etc and my final assignment.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/05/2021 07:24

Two dinners yesterday and still 0.25lbs today.. 8st 12. It has to be the evening snacking and sugar intake.. It's crazy tbh. Considering an atrocious week last week. 5.75lbs down in 3 weeks. I know I will have to hang onto it but still. Waking up with a clear head and looking forward to breakfast, and all my meals is great. I know this is the better choice for feeling better etc so I have to try not to jinx myself now.

Octopus37 · 29/05/2021 08:46

@HeyGirlHeyBoy well done thats amazing. Hope everyone enjoys the bank holiday weekend. Off to work in a bit, then going to see a friend tonight who I haven't seen since January, which will be good. Re weight and everything, ended up snacking last night so 9st5 this morning. Know steps and water haven't been enough this week cause I've felt so crap. Trying not to take everything seriously, but have now got a phone appointment on Thursday to discuss HRT. Starting to think that I might need to accept my current weight and concentrate more on health and fitness, try and build some time in for exercise etc.

Sounds good octopus. I think putting your whole self, mental and physical health first, can only be the right thing. Thanks for the congrats, as I say, I'm almost panicked into worrying about self destruction but going one day, one hour even at a time. In many ways, my issue isn't weight, tho my jeans are too tight, I know I'm not 'me' but the slovenliness, dull head and lack of control that I have with sugary junk.

Monochrome4 · 29/05/2021 10:24

Hello,

I've just skimmed through a week's worth of thread. Sorry things are a bit busy but well done everyone on your successes and I'm sorry to hear about the changing rooms and body image issues. Old photos are a double-edged sword! It's nice to have photos of oneself looking great, but then I look at a photo and think wow, I was slim then and my hair looked great; why don't I look like that any more?

I recommend watching this programme:
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000wgcd/what-are-we-feeding-our-kids

Chris van Tulleken (one of the Operation Ouch twins) investigates highly processed food and the effect it has on our bodies and our brains, and argues that more regulation is needed because individuals have limited power to avoid it. The programme was the opposite of fat-shaming. Two very interesting takeaways:

  1. He interviewed a scientist who conducted an experiment with two groups of people. One group was given highly processed food. The other group given freshly-prepared food. Both sets of food had the same proportions of fat, sugar and calories. Both groups were told to eat until they were full. The group eating highly processed food ate 30% more calories than the group eating freshly-prepared food. I find this really interesting because the two sets of food were matched in terms of proportions of fat, sugar and fibre, meaning there really is something different about highly processed food other than the proportions those components.
  1. He conducted an experiment on himself for 4 weeks by switching to a diet of 80% highly processed food. He enjoyed the food itself but experienced a range of health problems including heartburn, loss of energy, constipation and he put on 6kg. But most worryingly, brain scans at the beginning and end showed signs of addiction, and a third brain scan a few weeks later showed that the brain changes were still there.

Have a nice weekend ladies!

drspouse · 29/05/2021 11:03

I thought that programme was really interesting.
Much better week, no loss but onwards.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/05/2021 12:12

I've been looking at the thread on it on here, don't know if can re watch but will try. I think the large percentage of decent food I was eating despite sugar overload has helped somewhat. Well done drspouse.

NutellaEllaElla · 29/05/2021 14:20

I was down 1lb this morning which is wonderful. I am a card carrying sugar addict, but I must say, over the last 3 days, I have put off having anything sweet as long as possible, until my 3/4pm habitual hunger and have found it easier to manage cravings than when I have something sweet mid morning.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/05/2021 19:08

Logging for the day.
Ono and 2 cappuccini (!)
Chicken stir fry leftovers
Coq au Vín with herby potatoes, carrots and broccoli.... Probably over full but absolutely delish!
