Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

I should have read the rules properly

@Huggybear16 I don't know what you mean? Or am I being stupid? Would love to swap out some of these step ones as I'm going to be pushed to hit them all haha.

Jumpers268 · 22/03/2021 20:46

Oh I think I get it haha. Do all the ones not on the pattern count as bonus ones?

Huggybear16 · 22/03/2021 20:56

I'm not sure if every tile gives a bonus @Jumpers268. I just turned over a tile that wasn't on my pattern, and it told me to pick any two tiles to swap. So I swapped the 40k steps tile on my pattern for a 27k steps one that wasn't. I will try another when I've done enough exercise and let you know if it gives a bonus or not. That's the only bonus I've had so far. I don't think I got a bonus when I tried it with my sister, but I can't remember as I was just trying things out and didn't really know what I was doing. It definitely reduces your tally by the corresponding number though.

Huggybear16 · 22/03/2021 21:01

So I just flipped another tile not on my pattern - it let me pick a tile to reduce the number. I picked a 16km tile and it has reduced to 8km. So that's 2 bonuses out of 2 so far this game.

Jumpers268 · 22/03/2021 21:01

@Huggybear16 I'll let you know too! I've get way more active minutes than steps haha. I saw how many steps it wants and was like wow. Hit 22k steps today which is a record for me Smile.

Jumpers268 · 22/03/2021 21:02

Oh yay @Huggybear16!!! That's really good to know.

FlatteredFool · 22/03/2021 21:06

I'm
Totally confused

@FlatteredFool
If you turn over a tile on your pattern - great, 1 less to go.
If you turn over a tile not on your pattern - you get a bonus to help with your other tiles.

It sounds more complicated that it is. It's actually quite straightforward once you see it done.

Huggybear16 · 22/03/2021 21:15

22k steps @Jumpers268!
That's fantastic! Congrats on your new record ⭐

@Huggybear16 thank you! Walked the longest possible route to my son's school haha. This thread has really pushed me (and the Bingo)!

Huggybear16 · 22/03/2021 21:22

Same here @Jumpers268 - I haven't been this motivated to move in a long time!

I just did a search - all the grey tiles give you a bonus!

Jumpers268 · 22/03/2021 21:27

Reported my comment as included a poster's picture! Essentially I chose the grey tick one (not in the pattern) and that gave me a bonus @FlatteredFool.

@Huggybear16 oh I'm so pleased it's not just me haha. Walked so far to get to my son's school 😂😂.

Jumpers268 · 22/03/2021 21:28

I'm not brave enough to use my 22k steps on one not in the pattern 🙈🙈😂😂.

Huggybear16 · 23/03/2021 05:15

You're right not to @Jumpers268, it could be a rubbish bonus that reduces a distance by 1km or something.
Good luck today everyone. I'm going to try to turn my hardest bingo tile today!

Stronghold · 23/03/2021 10:37

Woke up with a sore ankle again. I'm going to have to change my username, it's too flipping ironic at this stage. I honestly think I've cursed myself Grin

Good luck to the rest of you though! I'll be yoga-ball-bouncing alongside you in spirit.

FlatteredFool · 23/03/2021 10:44

I've obviously missed something-what have you done to your ankle? I hope it's better soon!

(Enters, sadly, with more appropriate elder scrolls name).

I don't know, I just twisted it the other week - thought it was on the mend but apparently not!

From googling it seems like ankles can be weak pitiful things that can take months to recover. It happened a while back too and took a few weeks - in normal times I'd possibly be thinking of a physio by now.

Anyway. Core strengthening stuff and a few bingo panels from me on the activity level instead...

FlatteredFool · 23/03/2021 13:37

It's not easy to rest an ankle properly. You've inspired a few of us with the exercise ball though. Mine is in the loft but I'm going to get it down.

Huggybear16 · 23/03/2021 20:12

@Mournhold my one arrived today! I have just been bouncing watching an episode of Jack Ryan. I managed to log 24 active zone minutes out of the 45 minutes I was on it so it really is a worthwhile exercise. I think I'm going to like it! Glad you recommended it. Hope your ankle gets better soon!

Jumpers268 · 23/03/2021 20:33

Where do you keep your yoga balls when not in use? I can't think of anywhere I can store it out of the way haha.

Huggybear16 · 24/03/2021 05:44

@Jumpers268 I have a problem with that - it doesn't fit anywhere! I'm just going to leave it in the corner of my living room.

Mournhold · 24/03/2021 17:06

Glad you're enjoying the yoga balls! I usually just leave mine on the floor or the bed.

As well as bouncing, you can use them to try and do some gentle core exercise or some more cardio while sitting on them.

I've been using these videos:

Mournhold · 24/03/2021 20:25

I went for an actual walk outside this evening! My foot is aching a bit now but it was so nice to be outside

It had that "cooling down after a warm day" feeling to the evening (although I know it wasn't actually that warm outside).
