Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

Well done drspouse! The steps are massive for me too flattered. Have a good day all. My coffee machine is refusing to work here grrrr..

Octopus37 · 13/02/2021 10:17

Well done @drspouse. No weigh for me today, so so day overall yesterday. Only just got up, got to go out to work so will help my steps. Think the weather is going to warm up next week which should help everything

It's going to hit double figures next week here-that's practically summer! Monday is forecast to be dry and 11 degrees so we will definitely be going for a walk that day. I think today is the last very cold day. My heating bill will be glad of it too.
I think I'll make some soup for dinner today. I've got lots of veg to use and still feel not great so soup might do the trick.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/02/2021 11:14

So true re increased temperatures. I will walk every day this week as my dh is around which frees me up. He's been in work throughout up to this. I have ordered myself a lovely cooked lunch as a treat during my training day so that will keep me away from my Dad's biscuit stock!!

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 13:35

Morning. Scales are up by over a pound but I thought it was anomalous that they were down yesterday and I had fish and chips and tmi I haven't had a bm for a few days.

Hope it's been enjoyable marmite.

I've just slept for over 13hrs Confused

Overweight · 13/02/2021 14:10

Wow @TheHoneyBadger you got my share of the sleep!

Had grand plans for a walk at National Trust place. All the baby and toddler paraphernalia in the car, managed to arrive at the booked time slot (somehow!) and within 30 mins the toddler was too cold and wanted to come home. He wouldn't walk and the more he was carried the colder he got, so we came back. What a waste of a morning.

Nothing serious in the grand scheme though. Prob won't hit my steps as that's me in for the day now, but all fine really.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 14:22

Oh that's a bit disappointing over. At least you got out

IDontMindMarmite · 13/02/2021 14:29

How are people finding their little stepper machines?

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 15:02

Mine has a lot of resistance and my Fitbit doesn't recognise my steps which makes it different to what I expected but prob very good for working all the large muscle groups of legs and bum. I find my balance a bit wobbly on it but yes useful I think.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/02/2021 15:54

That's a bit devastating about the Fitbit Grin

drspouse · 13/02/2021 16:03

Oh I'd be so annoyed! Mine doesn't count as many steps as the YouTube videos that say "3000 steps".

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 17:25

Yep. I often feel gutted if I put my Fitbit on charge, forget and go for a walk without putting it on so my walk is somehow wasted Wink

drspouse · 13/02/2021 17:27

Runkeeper logs your calories not that I'm obsessed

IDontMindMarmite · 13/02/2021 18:37

In our house we say that if it's not on Strava it didn't happen Grin
NutellaEllaElla · 13/02/2021 21:52

Oh, I've namechanged again. Got bored of Marmite and I know my true allegiance.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 14/02/2021 09:02

Ah marmite I'll miss you and hopefully won't be triggered by your new name Wink

Grand day yesterday but did have some gig rolls.. All within 10 hour window and no evening snacking, water in. Will aim to avoid today.
B: berries, yoghurt and cappuccino (coffee machine playing ball today)
L: ono (packed lunch as I go to DDad for my zooming)
D: whatever awaits me when I get home.
Will have nuts and fruit midafternoon as it was the hunger that led me to the fig rolls..
Happy Valentine's all!
Goals: 3L water, bed by 11, no after dinner snacking.

Octopus37 · 14/02/2021 09:15

Happy Valentines Day all. 9st5 this morning. Time to start to get a grip. Aiming to drink 5 pints of water today, not sure about steps as its very cold out here, hoping this will improve next week, less food overall, although I am cooking a valentines meal tonight, although I'm not sure what yet.

Morning all. I'm getting a grip from tomorrow too Octopus. My digestive system hasn't been happy for a full week now but this is the first morning I've not felt sick after breakfast so things are looking up. I need to get walking again as it will help with the sluggishness. I hope so anyway. I haven't even logged anything on mfp this weekend. I'm still mainly on biscuits, toast, and light things. I had pasta last night and had dreadful
Pains and diarrhoea a couple of hours later so I'll stick to light things for now.

TheHoneyBadger · 14/02/2021 11:24

Boo Rhubarb - hope you're recovered soon.

I've been up since about 2am - body clock a bit befuddled after my epic friday night/half of saturday day sleep. Possibly the meds switch effecting things too.

Very inactive weekend but have been fairly good with intake I think. Will check the scales tomorrow and will hopefully have had a bm by then. That might actually be my mission for the day...

Very tired but don't know whether to try and sleep or push through till evening.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 15/02/2021 08:07

Back to normal now I think. I spent the day doing out dd's bedroom so I had energy and no more nausea.

60.65kg this morning. A good walk later today should get things moving and back to IF now that I'm fully recovered.

Here's to a good week for us allSmile I'm aiming forward a solid 60kg by the end of the week.

NutellaEllaElla · 15/02/2021 08:42

Happy Monday (groan) everyone. I really low yesterday and thoroughly ate my feelings. Must remember that it doesn't actually help at all, it just loads me up with guilt on top of it all.

Right, back on the wagon today. I have a giant pot of chicken noodle soup on the hob for lunches this week. I tried a Pinch of Nom recipe for Coq au vin, it uses red wine stock pots which is a first for me. It was ok. Not as special as Coq au vin usually is but my usual recipe would blow the bank so it's a decent mid week alternative.

Drink lots of water everyone.

Octopus37 · 15/02/2021 09:06

@FlatteredRhubardFool glad you are feeling better. @NutellaEllaElla know what you mean about eating feelings. I'm back on the wagon today, no weigh in today as we had a valentines meal last night and I know it will be awful. Really need to sort out my relationship with food, its as if I'm scared of being hungry and scared of not having treats, dont know what to do about that. Aiming to have a good few days, then to weigh in on Friday morning, really need to get a grip of this now.

I think octopus that's the same panic Honeybadger and I were talking about last week.. Get it completely. Unfortunately my weekend was a write off because of constant zooming so no walks and I had a takeaway too last night on top of biscuit intake but what can you do? Aiming for 12k steps every day this week which should help. Really those 5 weeks I had without sugar were so much easier than current situation so I'm hoping to get back to it.
B: porridge with banana and blueberries, served by 8yo ds in bed
L: omlette
D: roast chicken.
3l water, 12k steps, no after dinner snacking.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/02/2021 11:33

Bit of a write off here too with crazy sleep patterns and side effects of meds switch and some half asleep sugar consumption last night. Haven't weighed this morning.

Tomorrow I drop the low dose of old med completely and increase the dose of new med. hopefully even keel on the horizon in a couple of weeks.

Today's goals are a decent fasting window, keep moving and lots of water. Oh and not kill ds who I just discovered has destroyed a good piece of furniture in his bedroom for no reason other than complete teenage thoughtlessness. Trying to not be angry and upset when it achieves nothing

Monochrome4 · 15/02/2021 12:06

Hello everyone! I've not come on here or weighed myself for a week or two, and have put on weight (62.5 this morning, up 2kg from mid-December). Home schooling has been really challenging and I've not stayed entirely sane, unfortunately. I'm not going to feel bad for comfort eating because sometimes I need to do it just to keep myself sane. But I do need to start logging calories again if I'm going to keep the weight off and not put it all on again.

I'm enjoying the mini stepper, although not using it as often as I should. I try to do some in the evenings when watching TV. It starts off with high resistance and you can only go really slowly by putting your whole weight on each step, but after a few minutes the resistance goes down and you can get a speed up and get out of breath.

Oh and a tip re takeaway chips. They freeze. If you receive a bigger portion than you want to eat, just spread them out on a baking tray, freeze them, then next day transfer to a freezer bag or box. Then when you want to eat them (or give them to the kids) you can just pour them out on to a baking tray and stick in the oven just as you would with oven chips and they're as good as new. For me it helps me to stop overeating if I know stuff isn't going to waste. Sorry if I'm sharing the bleeding obvious.
