Thought I would keep with the dancing theme. Happy New Year to everyone. Lets all hope for a much safer 2021.

Even though I wasn't planning to weigh in this morning, I did out of habit and weighed in at 9st5. Take away (very delayed) last night, so not surprised. My aim is to be 9st1ish by the end of January. I'm hoping to get a couple of pounds off for my Birthday on the 9th.

Hope your day gets better I dont mind Marmite. HoneyBadger, you are not colossal and you have done really well. It is so hard all this pandemic stuff especially for teachers like yourselves, and even putting that aside everything feels like such a tall order right now. You are clearly doing your best. As for your boiler situation, really doesn''t help, this was us last week and it was awful, hope you get it sorted on Friday.

DH tea was quite calorific tonight so snack this evening might have to be a very small glass of wine OR some twiglets and not both.

Octopus37 · 14/01/2021 08:27

Its raining, its pouring, the old man's snoring, all very true in our house this morning. 9st3.75 today, had a reasonable day yesterday, although did eat quite a bit of left over Christmas cake, mainly icing. Hope everyone has a good day despite the rain and forecast snow

Morning. Had a good day food wise yesterday and the usual evening walk. I haven't weighed myself this morning, tomorrow or saturday'll be the day but I did weigh myself yesterday after a higher calorie day following a higher calorie weekend/ but i did extra exercise and i was 1lb up. Hoping to be back down soon.

TheHoneyBadger · 14/01/2021 09:30

Scales are evil. Still saying the same here.

I'm all over the place with no routines. Found myself working at 11 pm last night despite having worked all day. Fell asleep for a couple of hours in the evening then wide awake and getting on with work till silly hours.

Therefore I am just eating when I realise I'm hungry at odd times and that's scuppering fasting routines. Plus having no heating encourages me to basically shelter in place in my bedroom with the fan heater!

Lots of excuses as you can see!

Keep up the good work people so there's still a wagon for me to get back on at some point Wink

FlatteredRhubardFool · 14/01/2021 09:46

@TheHoneyBadger if the wagon cones by me first I'll pick you up as I pass if you'll do the same please? At the moment I'm in a ditch at the side of the road.
The shopping is coming today and is a scandalous amount of food to stock the cupboards, fridge and freezer. I'll be overwhelmed with choice of what to have. I think I'll have a week of concentrating on healthy eating then cut down. I need to brave the scales at some point. My covid test was negative and I we can now leave the house so hoping it stops raining so much after school to go up to my mum's. its a good walk up there so nice exercise and we desperately need the fresh air. I feel like a zombie today. I did 5 hours of home schooling with ds yesterday and it's hard going plus I still don't feel well. I'm sure the healthier food will help though. Lots of fruit and veg. I'll make soup and get some in the freezer too.
I think we all need to stop beating ourselves up. It's January, we are in lockdown, it's shit, so we have to cut ourselves some slack Thanks

TheHoneyBadger · 14/01/2021 10:10

Deal flattered!

drspouse · 14/01/2021 10:25

Are you weighing every day? I would avoid that if you can. And also if possible plan your meals for the day. I've started planning snacks too so they are there to take.
And I really do find my 3 days a week with no added sugar helps.
Honey I started where you are, over 10 years ago. The first 2 to 2 1/2 stone stayed off permanently which is great for my health. Just walking a lot, running, counting everything and only aiming for 1/2 lb per week.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 14/01/2021 13:35

Hi all, waving a weak hello..! I have not been very disciplined at all but am continuing to eat 3 healthy meals and water intake pretty good. Will hit the steps today also. That's all I can do for now. Hope you're all doing OK.

Mimilondon39 · 14/01/2021 14:43

Gah this has been the week from hell! Homeschooling is a nightmare - I feel like a bad combination of chef/cleaner/unpaid tutor/washerwoman etc and my husband is working this weekend so will be more of the same (except homeschooling). Had great success with 5:2 (Fast 800) a while ago but just can’t seem to get into the mindset - as you said it’s January and lockdown and everyone is so miserable! Most mornings I think I’m going to be healthy and then by 5.30 I’m reaching for a glass of wine or a Kit Kat! Like the idea of planning meals. What day is best to start and weigh in? Was going to start Monday (!) but it’s blue Monday so maybe I should just start tomorrow? Not loads to lose (around 12 pounds) but I always feel/look better when I’m slimmer....

IDontMindMarmite · 14/01/2021 18:47

Hi Mimi, it sounds like you're run off your feet. Are you going to continue IF?
For me, the best day is Friday or Saturday first thing in the morning before breakfast and after going to the loo! Grin It gives me a chance to behave all week (before I inevitably relax my regime over the weekend).

FriYay tomorrow! Thank goodness.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 14/01/2021 22:58

Yes Friday for me but where did that week go? It won't be good news I know tho not a horrific week and not loads of comfort eating so that's a NSV of sorts. Logging the day.
B: ONO
L: chickpea soup and soda bread
D: bacon, cabbage and mashed potato.
S: 3 semi skimmed cappuccinos and a hot choc.
12k steps
F&V: 6
2L water

IDontMindMarmite · 15/01/2021 06:36

I really need to drink more water today

Mimilondon39 · 15/01/2021 08:04

Think you are right. I’m going to start today - no point putting it off. I do like IF - makes a lot of sense to me and I prefer having two meals a day - I’m never really hungry in the morning. Going to do as many dance classes as I can and write down everything I’m eating and drinking. Love healthy meals like salads and soups but wine/gin/ chocolate are my downfall! Have tried to cut these out in the week before but then just go crazy at the weekends so aiming for portion control! The fast 800 over two days of a week is actually pretty easy to do if you’re not rushing around.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/01/2021 08:21

Scales are down after managing a complete fast - think I'm at about 34 hours now. First time I've managed a proper fast in months.

Doing yesterday as no alcohol, no heating, no hot water and no food was pretty testing!

Me too on the water Marmite. I drank lots yesterday but still feel a bit dehydrated. I think it takes a while to really get your levels up rather than just a day of drinking more itms.

Octopus37 · 15/01/2021 08:51

Wow that sounds mega testing HoneyBadger, well done you. Mimi, sounds as if you are pretty busy, all very difficult. Rhubarb, you're righ about not beating ourselves up, its January, is lockdown, its shite lets face it. 9st4.25 this morning, had a reasonable day yesterday but then drank a pint and had some Doritos last night. Also having online drinks with a friend tonight, will be sticking to my mixed berries gin with diet lemonade. IFriday night is also takeaway night here sometimes, so we'll see. know I'm not quite managing my steps at the moment cause of lockdown/weather.

Hi everyone. I'm checking in very sheepishly. Too many calories, next to no exercise = 1.5 kg heavier on the scales. It's just so challenging while home schooling a 7 and 3 year old. I didn't even have any time off last weekend because my husband was working silly hours in the NHS. No chance of logging all my food all the moment, and home schooling stress is leading me to snacking. I just want to stay sane at least. If I can prevent any further weight gain by the time schools open again (in however many months) that will be an achievement.

Oh and we were doing some PE this morning. I did a forward roll and my son jumped on me exactly while I was going over my head. He's over 20kg. I don't think there's any serious damage, but it's pretty sore in my neck/shoulder area which is exactly where I quite often have pain.

drspouse · 15/01/2021 17:53

Have been keeping up my exercise and mainly under count, have enough for a small snack tonight after a long walk with DD so fingers crossed for weigh in tomorrow.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/01/2021 18:05

Ouch mono. Hot and cold compresses and anti inflammatories. I had a shoulder injury that literally took a couple of years to make significant improvement and for putting a bra on to no longer be make me wince. Best to apply some tlc.

I did a 40 hour fast in the end but I'm now drinking bud light-low calorie at least.

Dinner may be some form of chicken stir fry. My boiler is back in action and the working week is over! Thanks be

IDontMindMarmite · 15/01/2021 18:32

Cor Mono, that sounds painful. Welcome back, no need to be sheepish. I've had a small but irritating upswing. I think a couple of over indulgent weekends are probably responsible. Hoping to have a cycle in the morning and relax over the weekend but don't go crazy.

Octopus37 · 15/01/2021 18:56

That sounds painful Monochrome. HoneyBadger, glad your boiler is working again. Think we all need to focus on trying to stay sane.

Heroic work HoneyBadger.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/01/2021 07:55

Thanks. Last night after fasting I drank a few bud lights (low calorie effort) and ate a little platter of garlic crackers, halloumi and pickles.

Didn't get round to the chicken stir fry as ds fell asleep on the sofa early.

I've just made him hot chocolate and Belgian waffle for breakfast. Black coffee and water for me.

I didn't weigh. It goes down and up and all over the place after a fast.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 16/01/2021 08:30

Apologies to those who are being so consistent, especially anyone new who might be thinking what kind of a dossing diet thread is this?! But as you say octopus we're all just getting through. Locally rates are v high here, same amount in last two weeks as March-December.. So it's all very close and fairly frightening. 9st 1 for me this AM, up a pound on last week. Care factor v low but firstly need to get steps up. Unfortunately training and assignmenting all weekend so it'll be Monday. Don't think eating has been horrific, meals have been good.

drspouse · 16/01/2021 08:35

1 1/2 lb off here, I think it's all the walking TBH.
