Cambridge/Exante/Slimfast 2021

New thread combining all the VLC shake diets: Cambridge, Exante, Lighterlife, Slimfast, etc. Everyone is welcome.

If you have any underlying health conditions, please check with your GP first (as I did).

I'm doing Slimfast (two shakes and one healthy meal a day). I use the premade shakes, because I actually like them! They are currently on sale here: www.amazon.co.uk/SlimFast-Replacement-Shake-Chunky-Chocolate/dp/B010PM6XO4/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I noticed Amazon is selling Lighterlife products now, too, if that helps anyone: www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/DCB0D716-63B4-4265-8862-CF4AEEE9FEF9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My goals:

  • Get two stone off quickly, then swap to less restrictive healthy/calorie controlled eating.
  • Do 30 minutes of exercise (walking, jogging, lifting weights, whatever) a day.

Would love to share tips and motivate each other as we go!

@warriorwomanx As per other posters, it's only one meal, it won't matter in the long run. Get back on it tomorrow and it will be a barely noticeable blip!

Also, well done on the exercise front. The fact you're already seeing a difference shows your hard work is paying off!

@Shwighty1 Think of it this way: doing it on work time means you were being paid to work out. Grin

Thanks ladies. I think sometimes the hardest bit is not packing it in completely after one blip.

@YourWurstNightmare Thanks, I'm in shock. I've been doing Chloe Tings workout programme, it's seriously intense but she's renowned for good results

TheSpottedDog · 22/01/2021 07:04

Started on Monday at 12st 3lbs. 11st 11 this morning 😱 can’t believe it

YourWurstNightmare · 22/01/2021 07:53

@warriorwomanx I'll have to check her out. I'm a huge Jillian Michaels fan but my head is just not in it, exercise-wise atm. Need a big kick up the bum!

@TheSpottedDog Amazing! And very motivating. You'll be hitting that first stone in no time. Star

Only 1 lb off this week, but I've had a few days where I wasn't drinking enough water, and only realised at 3:30 that I hadn't had any shakes at all that day, so that has messed me up Sad. Oh, and the chocolate binges Blush.

But, I've recalculated my targets and added them to my spreadsheet, and am focussed again. Rowing is going well, now that I've got to grips again with the technique, I'm up to 5km a day now, which I'm really pleased with.

Off to read back all the posts I've missed.

warriorwomanx · 22/01/2021 18:58

Well done @TheSpottedDog 12st3 was my start weight too! That's an amazing loss.

@YourWurstNightmare I struggle to get into workouts, I only follow Chloe Tings as they're short challenges which feels so much easier to do 😂

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup 1lbs a week is a healthy loss, congrats on being up to 5km a day, that's impressive 😊

Shwighty1 · 23/01/2021 06:42

@TheSpottedDog that’s amazing, well done
@MyVisionsComeFromScent brilliant, that is really good progress with rowing
I started to help make dinner last night and sliced my finger with a knife, 😱😭 quite badly, we just Sharpened the knives last week. Rather than go up to A&E I got my mask on and a torch and went to a neighbours doorstep who’s a nurse. Bless her she gave me steri strips and advice.
I think it was my diet saying stay away from the kitchen

YourWurstNightmare · 23/01/2021 07:48

Morning all.

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup 1 lb closer! And well done on the rowing. I didn't mention it above, but your whole journey is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing it and for sharing your progress.

@Shwighty1 Oh no, glad it wasn't too serious!

I'm 4 weeks in as of today. My stomach and legs looks noticeably smaller. Less bloated overall. I've been living in sweats for the past year, so it's hard to say if they feel looser or not. But last September I purposely bought a winter coat on sale that was too small. As in, it wouldn't even zip up! It fits a little loose now. I feel lighter when I get up/get out of bed. I'm still a good stone and a bit away from fitting into some of my 'normal' clothes, but taking the time to appreciate the progress so far is helping keeping me motivated.

Don't forget to appreciate YOUR progress and hope you all have a great day!

Wurst - you made me well up a bit, I've never been even remotely described as inspiring before! I'm just annoyed with myself that it took far too long for me to realise just how ground down I was, and then get into a position where I was able to actually do something about it. So, if I can help anyone else into thinking "maybe I can do something about this", then I'm happy Smile.

TheSpottedDog · 23/01/2021 14:04

Guys, if you are below calorie count every day during the week (I average 1200) can you have more on a weekend? Yesterday and today my count will be around 1500

YourWurstNightmare · 23/01/2021 19:01

@TheSpottedDog It mentions saving your snack calories and using them for eating out here: www.slimfast.co.uk/blog/food-nutrition/dieting-shouldn-t-feel-punishing

@YourWurstNightmare well done, that really is the bit I’m looking forward to. Clothes starting to fit properly again will be a joy, I can always feel rather reduction in my middle, but to actually feel clothing looser will be blissful and means I don’t have to buy up a size!! So frugal and feel good

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 24/01/2021 12:27

How's everyone getting on this weekend?

CJDoxon · 24/01/2021 13:09

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes Honestly? Hungry :-(

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 24/01/2021 13:24

How many weeks have you been on plan cjd?

lockdownrainbow · 24/01/2021 23:42

Hi

I am starting slimfast chocolate powder shakes from tomorrow
I am going to have one shake for lunch
I am 5ft 1 and weigh 10st 10
Want to get down to 9 st

YourWurstNightmare · 25/01/2021 10:02

I did a proper workout video for the first time in ages on Saturday. Felt bloody good. Going to attempt another one today.

@CJDoxon I feel you. I've been woken up a few times by my stomach growling! I might need to push my last shake back later in the evening.

@lockdownrainbow Welcome! That definitely an achievable goal on this diet. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hmm .... I suppose today is a day for celebration - Am now down to the same weight as I was when I did the cambridge diet 12 years ago. It took a month. Only another 15 kilos to go. This sounds a lot better than the 20 (or strictly speaking 22 but there are 2 that I dont mention) which is where I was on December 28th.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 25/01/2021 12:45

well done CJ (and drink some more water for the hunger?).

and go you Wurst with the workout video (I tried Evil Jillian and Her Unfeasible Flat Tummy's 30 Day Shred a few weeks back and decided never again Grin). I'm going to stick to the rowing machine and my Spotify playlist, as I'm beginning to see the start of maybe a very small arm muscle developing.......

Shwighty1 · 25/01/2021 13:45

I’m so hungry!!! Definitely not going to forget my 2nd milkshake today😜

Shwighty1 · 25/01/2021 13:45

Well done CJD that’s great progress

lockdownrainbow · 25/01/2021 22:26

Thanks wurst 😍
I had my first slimfast chocolate shake at lunch time i will update with my progress

YourWurstNightmare · 26/01/2021 08:18

Woo, go @CJDoxon! We're going to be so glad we stuck it out come spring.

Non-scale victory? Had a very stressy, full on day yesterday and I DIDN'T reach for comfort food. I didn't get my workout in but I don't feel bad about it due to the circumstances. Will try again today.

OP posts:
MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 26/01/2021 10:38

My head's back in the right place (aka I've eaten all the chocolate I had and it's too rainy to go out to the shop for more Blush), so I'm on four shakes/three shakes + 1 bar a day, plus 2.5 litres of water today. The double chin was creeping back in the mirror yesterday, I am NOT going to let it settle back in.

Well done Wurst, it's really hard to break the automatic shit day=comfort food link, isn't it?

YourWurstNightmare · 26/01/2021 11:07

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup So hard! It's like my default setting. MUST...OVERRIDE. Grin Glad to hear you're back in it. We got this!
