Cambridge/Exante/Slimfast 2021

YourWurstNightmare · 31/12/2020 09:05

New thread combining all the VLC shake diets: Cambridge, Exante, Lighterlife, Slimfast, etc. Everyone is welcome.

If you have any underlying health conditions, please check with your GP first (as I did).

I'm doing Slimfast (two shakes and one healthy meal a day). I use the premade shakes, because I actually like them! They are currently on sale here: www.amazon.co.uk/SlimFast-Replacement-Shake-Chunky-Chocolate/dp/B010PM6XO4/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I noticed Amazon is selling Lighterlife products now, too, if that helps anyone: www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/DCB0D716-63B4-4265-8862-CF4AEEE9FEF9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My goals:

  • Get two stone off quickly, then swap to less restrictive healthy/calorie controlled eating.
  • Do 30 minutes of exercise (walking, jogging, lifting weights, whatever) a day.

Would love to share tips and motivate each other as we go!

I've ordered my first Exante box (I went with the 2 week one). So hopefully it'll be here tomorrow.

This week i'm going to have a regular meal in the evening as I've done my weekly shop at the weekend, and do Exante for Breakfast, Lunch... and then from next Monday go full-on!

I also ordered the water enhancer, burst and sip as I dont drink enough water, so hoping these help!

YeahBabyYeahYeah · 18/01/2021 16:20

Good luck @Karcheer, hope you like the taste of them!

Karcheer · 18/01/2021 16:23

@YeahBabyYeahYeah

Good luck *@Karcheer*, hope you like the taste of them!
Me too!

I’ve done well staying on track today in fact now I think about I might even have forgotten my 2nd shake!! No wonder I was starving at dinner time 😆 I think it really helps that my work is so busy on calls all day if I haven’t lost this week I’ll be gutted

YourWurstNightmare · 19/01/2021 09:29

@Karcheer Good luck!

@Shwighty1 That distraction and busyness is the only reason I miss working in an office!

I have 13 days left to meet my first target of a stone by end of January. Dragging myself out for a walk before it starts to pour again!

Mid-week weigh-in: I've lost 2 lbs since last Wednesday. So, 10 lbs down, 18 to go.

Had big fluctuations on the scale this week - randomly up 2 lbs at one point despite eating perfectly, so I'm hoping for a whoosh by end of the week! Need to lose 4 lbs by end of Jan to hit my first mini goal.

Good luck everyone! Star

I re-started on Monday, can I join? I lost just over 2 stone last year in 6 weeks on Cambridge and have maintained that but would like to lose another 4 stone. I had what I said would be a week off plan for a week away and never re-started again Blush so I won't be making the same mistake this time around. I'm not hungry as my eating habits were all over the place anyway, I regularly used to eat nothing all day and then eat 3000 calories in the evening. I have a really horrible headache today but so far so good. I find cooking evening meals for my family to be the hardest part of the day so I've been having my bites open and picking at those instead of their dinner which seems to be helping.

CJDoxon · 20/01/2021 17:44

Hello - anyone still doing a weigh-in on this thread? In case of interest I seem to be losing around 1.5 - 2 kilos a week but I have to say its not easy - I definitely get hungry and I am on Cambridge - I have a porridge or shake for breakfast, a meal thing for lunch, a meal bar at about 5 and then a soup in the evening. Definitely couldnt manage if I only did 3 "meals" a day. Not sure if anyone else still doing this but would love to know your progress.... (Am on week 4)

YourWurstNightmare · 20/01/2021 17:58

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes Welcome and well done on maintaining! Do you have any tips? That's always the hardest part for me.

Congrats on the loss @CJDoxon! I'm still going (two Slimfast shakes, one meal). My loss was 2 lbs this week. I'm 3.5 weeks in.

Oh glad you are still going @YourWurstNightmare .... it's a bit dreary to be honest so sadly I dont have any magic wand ... DO think having a jug of water with pieces of orange in it is nicer than drinking water - and do think having a bit of encouragement is really helpful. No one has said anything to me about looking as if I have lost weight yet .... that said I suppose I am not really seeing anyone who might notice (thank you lockdown) but my husband encouraging which helps... so in case no one encouraging you at home - I am here telling you to keep going! It will be worth it in the end am sure :-)

Shwighty1 · 20/01/2021 18:56

Wednesday Weigh In Week 1 - 2 kilos down, 25 to go!

Depressingly I’m really happy about this but it does mean if consistent I’ll be in this till after Easter hey ho I’m sure it’ll fly by

CJDoxon · 20/01/2021 19:16

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes - you and me both! Well done for keeping going - we have about the same to loose and am thinking (hoping) that by April Fools Day will be pretty much there....

CJDoxon · 20/01/2021 19:18

@Shwighty1 .... After Easter not long - and as long as you make to the end of feb you will be half way there - which might sound a bit better? well done so far

457mm · 20/01/2021 19:34

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes, how dis you sustain the weight? Well done on the loss so far!
I am doing Cambridge as well, but moved to step 2 on Sat (one 200cal meal for dinner) and I feel much better compared to Step 1b ( I was doing 4 products per day as well). Not sure how my weight loss will be, not losing a lot honestly, only 0.8kg last week, so let us see how this week will be. I do not want to get desperate..just yet 😂

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 20/01/2021 19:53

I weighed myself every few days and did 16:8. If I gained I would calorie count as well until my weight dropped again. I can't lose doing intermittent fasting though as I was eating far too many calories in my window of eating some days, as I'm very all or nothing, but I will hopefully use it to maintain once at goal. Up until this lockdown I was also pushing a buggy with 1 year old and 4 year old on buggy board to school 40 mins away and back, sometimes twice a day, which helped I think.

Shwighty1 · 20/01/2021 22:12

Well done everyone a small loss is still a loss!! Fantastic efforts all round

Shwighty1 · 20/01/2021 23:00

Has anyone made the shakes with water before? It’s thick with snow here and we might run out of milk tomorrow!

CJDoxon · 21/01/2021 06:22

@Shwighty1 ... if on Cambridge I always use water and tastes fine ...

TheSpottedDog · 21/01/2021 07:28

Hi, I started Slimfast on Monday. It works great for me as I don’t have much of an appetite anyway so used to just fill up on junk all day. Could never be bothered making healthy breakfasts and lunches. Tried low carb but I can’t be bothered with all the faffing involved.

Anyway on Monday I was 12.3lbs. This morning I was 11.13lbs. This is fantastic but I’m mega constipated! I reckon I have half a stone of poo in me. I took a laxative before bed last night so just waiting for that to take effect 😬

YourWurstNightmare · 21/01/2021 08:12

Well done everyone. Steady losses are what it's all about.

Welcome @TheSpottedDog, that's a great start! And I think we can all relate to being bunged up on this way of eating. Blush

Not an official weigh day, but after a week of the scale randomly jumping up and down I had a big WHOOSH this morning - another 2 lbs off! That means 12 lbs down, 16 to go.

Been silently following this thread.
I've been following slimfast for a while on and off. Had around 3 solid weeks and just couldn't control my cravings tonight and caved and eaten a McDonald's and full fat coke. Feel disgusted with myself tbh.
Recently started a new workout (2 week shred and 8 days in) been so proud of myself and starting to see a change to my body. Just furious I've let myself down again.

Shwighty1 · 21/01/2021 20:31

@warriorwomanx don’t feel bad, it’s just one night, keep going!! You’ll be fine and it doesn’t mean you need to stop

Shwighty1 · 21/01/2021 21:17

Oooh I had a brainwave today, as I’m on calls all day, I can choose to be off video! So I took some small weights upstairs and today on one call I did some mini weights!! Even though work is really pressured I managed to fit in exercise. Not much but it all helps.

Shwighty1 · 21/01/2021 21:18

@YourWurstNightmare well done on your whoosh! That’s amazing

CJDoxon · 21/01/2021 21:38

Oh dear - you’re only human .... don’t worry. Good news is there always tomorrow - pick yourself up, dust yourself down and give it another go..... sounds cheesy I know but still true
