Cambridge/Exante/Slimfast 2021

New thread combining all the VLC shake diets: Cambridge, Exante, Lighterlife, Slimfast, etc. Everyone is welcome.

If you have any underlying health conditions, please check with your GP first (as I did).

I'm doing Slimfast (two shakes and one healthy meal a day). I use the premade shakes, because I actually like them! They are currently on sale here: www.amazon.co.uk/SlimFast-Replacement-Shake-Chunky-Chocolate/dp/B010PM6XO4/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I noticed Amazon is selling Lighterlife products now, too, if that helps anyone: www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/DCB0D716-63B4-4265-8862-CF4AEEE9FEF9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My goals:

  • Get two stone off quickly, then swap to less restrictive healthy/calorie controlled eating.
  • Do 30 minutes of exercise (walking, jogging, lifting weights, whatever) a day.

Would love to share tips and motivate each other as we go!

Today's stats:
15 days in
Weight 11st 12 (166lb)
0.2 lb lost since last post
4lb lost total.
46 lb to go

Yay, hit the 4lb down goal, only 1 day late! Picked up the salted caramel flavour shake from amazon - REALLY nice. It's freeing up a lot of time not thinking about or preparing food in the day. My DH says my face looks thinner (he is possibly just trying to be nice, but whatever, I'll take it!).

1 more pound to go and then I will be NO LONGER OBESE. Also, I will be 10% of the way towards my goal. I've been reading quite a bit of info on meal replacement diets - WHY are they not more widely used? The scientific evidence for them is really strong! And lots of the studies suggest that people using meal replacements keep off more weight after a year than someone dieting just by 'eating healthily'.

I'm aware I'm keeping this thread going all my myself now! Grin But if anyone else fanices giving slimfast or similar a go, I'd love to hear from you...

@carbonella - this popped up on my feed - am not really doing cambridge any more (but had a similar trajectory to you and am down 2 sizes and more or less 3 stone) so giving you a little dance of support

carbonella · 21/04/2021 16:45

@cjdoxon thank you! So encouraging to hear your journey. How are you finding eating real food again?

CJDoxon · 21/04/2021 18:22

@carbonella ..... more time consuming!! But ok. Am fasting (2 days per week) to lose the last 5 kilos .... so far so good. Oh and not eating after 6 pm - that really helps. My trouble is alcohol and crisps - the only way not to eat crisps is not to have alcohol .... and now everyone is more out and about more it’s funny how much of a prune I feel saying that I don’t want any ...

Morning all. I'm 166 lbs this morning so slow going for me. Keeping on keeping on though. After 50 it is so much harder to lose the weight sadly 😞

carbonella · 25/04/2021 10:14

Well done @Campervan69 slow and steady does it! Slow for me too this week:

Today's stats:
19 days in
Weight 11st 12 (166lb)
0 lb lost since last post
4lb lost total.
46 lb to go

So not moved in 5 days. But I did 2 pilates classes this week and I think I had a bit of muscle inflammation as a result, so hoping that it will improve!

I'm still feeling determined. I'm going to lose this weight before my next birthday!

carbonella · 27/04/2021 07:41

Today's stats:
21 days in
Weight 11st 11.6 (165.6lb)
0.4 lb lost since last post
4.4lb lost total.
45.6 lb to go

Had a bit of a stall, but was very strict yesterday, and the scale is moving again! I've got 1.6lb before I'm no longer obese.

Campervan69 · 05/05/2021 08:04

carbonella are you still hanging in there?

I stumbled across a guy at a car boot sale selling £70 worth of Cambridge products for £7. All varieties. So I thought I'd try going back to the beginning. He was on 4 products a day so I've been sticking to that and finally seeing some downward progress. 164 lbs this morning.

YoungBlood · 06/05/2021 13:07

Going to join this thread if that's OK. Ordered an Exante 800 calorie 4 week box yesterday and it should arrive tomorrow so am going to start on Sunday, once I've cleared out the fridge and got some lean protein in for my one real meal a day.
I currently weigh 12 stone 12(ish) but will weigh Sunday morning so I know where I'm up to. I really need a kick start as I'm only 5'3" and have been stuck around 12-13 stone for the last couple of years.
Some of the posts on this thread have been really inspiring so I'm hoping for some motivation and support while I (hopefully) drop some serious weight and do some exercise.

Campervan69 · 06/05/2021 15:36

I'm still on it. My Cambridge comes to around 800 calories a day. Plus I still have tea and coffee with milk. And do a morning Body Balance class. I'm feeling v hungry though today sadly.

JustHereForTheTeee · 06/08/2021 08:24

Hi, I have been reading through this thread as I started Lighter Life (on day 4) just wondered if anyone else is still doing VLCD? Or any one else just starting out for support?

I gained A LOT in lock down one and then even more since then, eating junk and far too much wine! So I’ve cleared the house of junk food and wine and hoping to make a dent. I’ve 43lbs to lose and I’ve been in denial for quite some time about it.
