HELLO, WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Actually that doesn’t read right with all the C19 malarkey. Strange & unprecedented times. Nonetheless, 2021 marks a fresh start and and an opportunity for renewal. This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking won’t mind me holding them up as our Poster Girls. They both did absolutely fantastic in 2020! ⭐️👏🥇

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In December I maintained; I’m hoping to see a loss this January which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Day 2 and I'm weighing in each day to keep me honest:
SW:151
CW:149.5
GW: 132
So if I could do that everyday then I'd be done by 1st Feb Grin
Sadly the first 5lbs always fall off me easily once I stop indulging but it's the next 14 that are the bugger!
Onwards and inwards.

Galvantula · 05/01/2021 08:25

Alert noted @HalfShrunkMoreToGo :)

I have assessed the festive period damage with a weigh in and I have acquired an extra kilo/couple of pounds since Christmas Eve. My weight did drift a bit higher, possibly due to TOM bloat I guess. Fairly happy with that as I have enjoyed a fair few treats, but managed to keep it balanced-ish. :)

So just trying to get back to normal work routine (I will still be at work as it can't be done at home). It keeps me away from the cupboard of snacks at home - like the nice Lindor selection box I am working my way through Grin

This year's ambition is still to introduce a bit of exercise, as although I have lost a lot of weight I am feeling fairly unfit and weedy!

PS - Have reported our latest Spambot post Hmm

CescaNicole · 05/01/2021 11:26

I ate 4 chocolate digestives after that announcement. Sigh. Tomorrow is another day!
Drybird2020 · 05/01/2021 12:31

How do the scales calculate body fat?

SunshineCake · 05/01/2021 12:47

Hi @NoJetter. My reason for wanting to be lighter is health too. I got very big due to developing food intolerances and did lose 1.5 stone easily and quickly initially. Then I lost the same half a stone several times. Then covid arrived and I was ill in bed for two weeks. That locked me up the bum as I was scared and I started running in May to help with my asthma. Today I ran ten km and have almost lost two stone. Good luck with your ttc and health gaining.

Welcome @partyatthepalace. You'll get a lot of support here.

Love the new name @HalfShrunkMoreToGo!

Good luck with work @Galvantula. I have reported too as hadn't read all the way to your post.

CescaNicole · 05/01/2021 16:35

@drybird2020 they send an electrical signal through the body!

Tells you lots of stuff - muscle mass/bone mass/metabolic age etc. All manner of things I definitely do not need to know 🤣

Cornishbelle · 05/01/2021 18:03

Fantastic thread thank you and good luck to everyone hoping to lose four stone current weight 13st 12

NoJetter · 05/01/2021 18:14

I weighed myself this morning and I am down just over 1kg since 1st Jan. I’ve been eating really healthily, stuck to under 1200 calories so I’m happy things are headed in the right direction.

Also I am happy I am finding it quite easy. I’m not sticking to a specific diet but just cutting out junk, anything overly processed, etc and trying to eat more veg and making sure I stay under 1200 calories. So far I haven’t really felt hungry at all. Sometimes I think I feel hungry but in fact it’s just unusual for me to not feel full (I am terrible for snacking) so I’m making myself get used to that feeling and it’s been find so far.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Trisolaris · 05/01/2021 18:17

Hi everyone,

I’m back after a month or so break so will weigh in next week and see where I am!

I’ve only just got back on MFP yesterday as I’ve been moved onto new diabetes tech (T1) and managing that over the last month has taken all my headspace so I’ve just been focused on maintaining rather than losing and now am going to attempt to put it all together!

Hi to new people and great to see familiar faces rocking it as before!

SunshineCake · 05/01/2021 18:48

Hi @Trisolaris. Great to see you! Hope you get your tech sorted.

Drybird2020 · 05/01/2021 18:58

@CescaNicole the scales sound terrifying! But I'm off to have a look, obvs...

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/01/2021 19:54

Hi, just passing by to say still alive.

Sympathy @FatGirlShrinking it is shit. Hoping this is the home straight for it and that things will improve by spring. Our numbers are scary high which I guess is where you were in the summer Sad

Wave to fall, sunshine and thank for a new thread @TheRealHousewife

Take care all x

HalfSizeMe · 05/01/2021 20:48

Hope everyone is OK.

I've had a really good day today. I did a Leslie Sansone video (1 mile) and have met my step goal. I haven't been tracking my calories but haven't had any snacks and have eaten a lot of vegetables. I've also managed to drink 2L of water.

Marsis · 05/01/2021 21:16

Going ok here trying fast 800 again as so shocked about my weight. I am doing ok with my window 18:6 but went over on calories as realised I could do what I planned for dinner and the replacement meal was much higher calorie. It was all low carb though. Just need to up the exercise.

SunshineCake · 05/01/2021 21:24

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe. Have thought about you but didn't want to @ hassle you in case you were having an MN break. How are you ?

CordeliaScott · 05/01/2021 22:09

I've had a good day today. Under 1200 calories and a 2.5 mile walk home from work (admittedly as I missed the bus). It's tough with all of the Christmas sweets still in the kitchen though.

LarryUnderwood · 05/01/2021 22:22

Well done everyone. I've had another good day. Overslept and had loads of meetings this morning so no time for breakfast. Then had to get a covid test as I've had some symptoms (but mild, I'm ok.so far!). So that was a bit of a walk. Chicken korma, little bit of rice and sugar snap peas for lunch. Chicken and black bean quesadillas with carrot and apple slaw for dinner. No snacks. Some water, not loads but enough. And no booze!

didireallysaythat · 05/01/2021 22:39

Horrendous day here. Homeschooling two, school announced live registration at 8:45 at 8:00, teenagers don't wake up that quickly, and then work decided full site closure. I ate sweets and drank coffee. And had left over pizza for lunch. Saving grace 10k steps before supper, a bath and avoided the gin. Tomorrow will be a different day.

Katrinawaves · 05/01/2021 23:04

Congratulations to those having good days and commiserations to those who didn’t.

I came in at 60 cals over my budget today which wasn’t too bad. I had quiche with salads for lunch which is a bit higher cal than I would usually go and accounts for it. Long walk in the cold before dinner helped defray some of it I hope!

lemontova · 05/01/2021 23:21

Not a good day. Stressed at work and ate loads of snacks, just couldn’t get my head back in. Went way over my calories. On the upside, in mid ‘oh fuck it’ mode I decided to have a cocktail this evening but had a decaf coffee and 30 mins exercise with an apple fitness class instead. Tomorrow I will do better. Hope you guys are all staying motivated!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 06/01/2021 07:12

06/01/2021 - 185lb, BMI 28.1

Loss this week - 1 lb
Loss this month - 1 lb
Total loss since starting - 48 lb

ThornAmongstRoses · 06/01/2021 08:03

Moving into Day 6 now of no treats and I can’t believe how well I’m doing. I’m the sort of woman who wouldn’t think twice about eating a massive packet of biscuits every two days as well as chocolate snacks and crisps dotted in between so I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without giving in.

My husband is also very impressed.

I’m still having my healthier lunches and smaller portions at breakfast and dinner too so even though I feel quite hungry, I’m hoping it will all pay off.

Although I’ve had 5 days of better eating I’m going to weigh myself today in order to see what my starting weight is and then take it from there.

Well done to everyone on here who is being so committed.

AuldFox · 06/01/2021 08:44

It’s weigh in day for me. I’ve miraculously managed to stay the same weight over Christmas for the first time ever!

SW 61.5kg
GW 55kg

I’m happy to go very slowly, and being a short arse, I couldn’t lose weight fast if my life depended on it anyway. I’m lucky if I lose 1-2 kg per month. Onwards and downwards weight loss buddies! Smile

CescaNicole · 06/01/2021 09:13

Weigh Day for me today - 2 lbs down! 🎉 🎉 🎉
Which MFP tells me is now 51% of my goal since I started on 1st Oct.

New scales tell me body fat is 32% which is just outside of the healthy range and into the "obese" range. So that's interesting.

1 stone to go until I'm at my goal 😁

Now to celebrate by... Oh staying indoors 😂
