HELLO, WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Actually that doesn’t read right with all the C19 malarkey. Strange & unprecedented times. Nonetheless, 2021 marks a fresh start and and an opportunity for renewal. This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking won’t mind me holding them up as our Poster Girls. They both did absolutely fantastic in 2020! ⭐️👏🥇

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In December I maintained; I’m hoping to see a loss this January which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

@golightlyontheearth
I just scan each food item I use and save it as a recipe, rather than import from the Web. Takes a bit of time at first but I have all of my regular recipes saved now so it's quick to add them each day. It automatically calculates calories per serving.

That might be just me finding the import tool a bit faffy though....

TheRealHousewife · 29/01/2021 01:20

Hi Everyone

Just can’t sleep so I’m on here and ‘Merge Dragons’ 😬 A very addictive iPad game.

I posted on another thread about Vegan Almond Magums (@SunshineCake could you have these as a treat). They are about 240 cals and totally delish.

Some great results being posted!

@CescaNicole. In regards to hairloss ... I started shedding a couple of years ago which coninsided with starting my weight loss journey and also my thyroid became under active. My thyroid disease is being treated but my hairloss continues. I’ve now changed my shampoo and condition to a 99% natural product ... I’m sure the shedding is reduced. Fingers crossed it continues. I’ve read that there are ingredients in most commercial shampoos that actually cause hairloss and their are law suits being taken out. In your case if you’re post partum I’d imagine any hair loss is down to that. When you’re pregnant your hair goes all lush and full and doesn’t shed. Afterwards it’s catching up so you’re just losing it all together rather than a bit each day if that makes sense. Fingers crossed it soon stops and you get it sorted. Hair is such a big part of our identity.

My post probably won’t make sense as I’m now sleepy and rushing. Take care, stay safe.

10 stone 4.2 this morning Smile

Pepper54 · 29/01/2021 09:04

Morning everyone, pouring rain here and I slept very badly due to period. Due to run today, hopefully I will perk up as the day goes on.

B Coffee
L Tinned sardines
D Steak and mushrooms

PusheenLove · 29/01/2021 09:19

Morning everyone.

@Pepper54 tinned sardines?? Envy

Drybird2020 · 29/01/2021 10:56

@PusheenLove thanks for that. I'm similar except I usually only fast 2 days a week, sometimes three.

I'm 5'7 and I do run on fasting days which might be why I'm so hungry the next day I suppose.

I cracked yesterday afternoon and had a scone and immediately felt much better. I wonder if I should just slightly increase my non fasting day calories.

CescaNicole · 29/01/2021 10:56

Thanks @TheRealHousewife, interesting stuff. Mad about the shampoo ingredients causing hair loss 😧
I will give it a few more months and see if it eases off, and take my multivitamins!! I might give the Voost thing a go.

I bought this 2.2Litre water bottle to encourage me to drink water, it's bigger than my head!!! 😂
Hopefully it will help though as I can visually see how much water I've left to get through for the day!!

PusheenLove · 29/01/2021 11:50

@Drybird2020 what are your non-fast day cals currently? At your height and fitness, I'd be going for 2000.

@CescaNicole nice bottle. Will really help with the weight loss mission as you'll build amazing biceps Grin

Drybird2020 · 29/01/2021 12:09

@PusheenLove I've been going for my weight loss calorie allowance on n-f days, which is 1440. I can see now that closer to my TDEE would be more manageable.

CescaNicole · 29/01/2021 12:37

😂 @PusheenLove
Great way to look at it hahaha

PusheenLove · 29/01/2021 12:46

@Drybird2020 I believe in not over-doing the restriction on non-fast days as it helps to keep your body guessing/reassure your body that food is readily available.

PusheenLove · 29/01/2021 14:46

I just found out that a family member has been doing Herbalife for a month and said she's had amazing results, although she also says it's expensive. Does anyone have experience with it?

132orbust · 29/01/2021 15:06

Day 26
SW:151
CW:140.75
GW:132
Down 0.25lb
10.25lbs in 26 days
Didn't quite manage to get rid of the 0.5lb pasta gain.
Onwards and inwards.

SunshineCake · 29/01/2021 17:16

I didn't run today. Needed to rest. Instead took doggy on a long walk, steep hills and avoided the bakery.

I'm full of hormones today and need to be kind to myself even though I'm ashamed I'm up a pound. I'm taking the next two days off everything and will get my head in gear from Monday.

Pepper54 · 29/01/2021 17:53

SunshineCake similar story here. It’s probably one for the menopause thread but on day 14 of a period, bad nights sleep. Like you I decided to take a kinder approach today, nothing crazy food wise but just taking it a bit easy. January surely is a nine week month!

SunshineCake · 29/01/2021 19:32

Maybe we should both get on to that thread?! I haven't had a period for four months and my flushes are happening more often and I'm just so tired at times.

CescaNicole · 30/01/2021 11:11

I had 4 hours sleep night before last and some emotional news about my cat, so I did reach for the sugar yesterday 😒

Woken up fresh today and done a weights workout and has some porridge 💪🏻
Last January weigh in tomorrow to round off the month!

132orbust · 30/01/2021 11:49

Oh @CescaNicole I hope 😻is ok. Ours is the centre of our household.
So.....
Day 27
SW:151
CW:140.75
GW:132
The same!
10.25lbs in 27 days
Still didn't manage to get rid of the 0.25lb pasta gain and I had really hoped it would be gone today as I ate carefully yesterday. Angry
Anyway.... another day and we trudge onwards and inwards.

PusheenLove · 30/01/2021 11:58

@CescaNicole I hope your cat is okay. I'm a cat owner/servant.

Puffalicious · 30/01/2021 13:43

Ah Sunshinecake best avoid that app then. You know the best ways that work for you.

To PP saying MFP recipes add crazy things- it does indeed, but there's a button below which says 'replace ' i think, and you press it and lots of alternatives come up for you to choose from. It took about 30 suggestions before I found Knorr vegetable stock cubesConfused.

Pepper54 · 30/01/2021 14:08

Hi everyone, slept well and feel so much better today. Did my C25K.

B Coffee
L Bacon sandwich
D Chinese and champagne (54 today)

Bit worried the weekend will undo the lbs lost during the week! I will try and be strict tomorrow for a good Monday weigh in.

132orbust I am the same with pasta, I love it but gain so much when I eat it, that and bread. It’s just not worth it for me. When the kids have it I throw the leftovers in the bin immediately.

SunshineCake · 30/01/2021 16:46

All the SunshineCats and SunshineDog hope that @CescaNicoleCat is okay.

SunshineCake · 30/01/2021 16:47

Happy birthday @Pepper54 🎂

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 30/01/2021 17:14

Hi all, just finished eating a slightly strangely timed roast dinner but mealtimes and routine have gone out the window this weekend. I am so full I might burst, haven't felt this full of food in ages, usually I end a meal feeling like there's room for more but it'll do me to the next meal.

Feels a bit uncomfortable to be honest and definitely less food than I would have put on my plate a year ago, so maybe my stomach is actually shrinking or my body is finally getting used to smaller portions as the norm.

LarryUnderwood · 30/01/2021 19:23

Happy birthday @Pepper54!

Checking in to log my weight- better this week I'm pleased to say!
SW 165lbs
CW 158lbs
GW 133lbs

This week I have accepted that I cannot moderate my treats. Sadly. I just can't do it, its all pr nothing. So I am doing an ultra strict calorie counting thing with no treats whatsoever. And I'm.extending dry January tp dry Feb as well. I know that I need to learn how to eat normally without binging on crap. So I'm.thinking that when I get to my goal weight I will steadily reverse-diet by adding calories over a period of a few weeks so I can gauge how mainly cals I can eat to maintain. But that is a job for the future!
