HELLO, WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Actually that doesn’t read right with all the C19 malarkey. Strange & unprecedented times. Nonetheless, 2021 marks a fresh start and and an opportunity for renewal. This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking won’t mind me holding them up as our Poster Girls. They both did absolutely fantastic in 2020! ⭐️👏🥇

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In December I maintained; I’m hoping to see a loss this January which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Day 21
SW:151
CW:143
GW:132
1.25lbs+
8lbs in 21 days
Thank you delicious takeaway!!
It will be gone by Tuesday but my that is some gain in a day!
@SunshineCake it is unlikely you are at nearly 49 and you skipped some months previously but with the morning sickness and tiredness it still might be worth ruling it out...
I think cool sculpting is where they sort of freeze your fat 'away' and sculpt your body shape. It is good for stubborn bits I believe.

SunshineCake · 24/01/2021 12:14

I'll do a test tomorrow as I think it is more likely to be correct if I remember correctly.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 24/01/2021 12:47

We have lots of snow here now. Nipped out about 10ish before it started for a few basic comfort foods and grabbed a happy meal for DD on the way home. We're just waiting for a bit for more of it to settle then we're off for a walk to the park in 23 layers and waterproofs.

LarryUnderwood · 25/01/2021 00:09

@SunshineCake coolsculpting is basically freezing your fat and then the fat cells die and are excreted through your lymphatic system over the course of a couple of months. Its supposed to be very effective for spot reducing bulgy bits. Problem is I'd want a full body treatment Grin.
I'm back in the saddle tomorrow, high protein, lowish carb and aiming for slow and steady.

Pepper54 · 25/01/2021 11:17

Hi, I’d like to join please. I will read through the thread today.

My story is I am the heaviest I have ever been. Gained exactly 2 stone since 1st lockdown (is that a record!) as my lifestyle completely changed. Ideally I would like to lose 2.5 stone and lose inches from my tummy. The plan is to have 2 meals a day, no more homemade bread, lots of veg. I am 54 and feel very creaky, get out of breath easily and my face is very puffy. I started C25K this morning.

SW 161
GW 126
Current BMI is 27
Waist measures 38 inches

132orbust · 25/01/2021 11:34

Day 22
SW:151
CW:142.5
GW:132
0.5lb off but still 0.75lb to get back to Saturday's weight
8.5lbs in 22 days
A focused day coming up as very busy workwise. Blasted takeaway was delicious but served with cauliflower rice and a tiny bit of nan and half a popadam I just do not know how it had such an impact. Oh well it will be gone tomorrow🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

newyearnewme21 · 25/01/2021 12:15

Morning all!

This morning's weigh in down 1lb so now at 16 stone exactly- I would be happy at 14 stone, and ecstatic at 13 stone, so still a way to go but happy enough with that. Had my period the last few days and visually have blown up like a balloon so wasn't expecting any sort of loss!

Good luck to everyone for the week ahead!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 25/01/2021 12:19

Ate like crazy yesterday, think it was a combo of cold and activity as we spent a good 3-4 hours out playing in the snow at -2 degrees, so I just couldn't stop being hungry.

Decided not to weigh this morning as didn't want to be disappointed so being good today and will weigh tomorrow and see what it says.

SunshineCake · 25/01/2021 12:21

Still no snow but lots of frost and ice so I didn't run but walked with dd to the village and then did over half an hour on the exercise bike. I am the same weight as Friday so I'm embarrassed about my sulking Grin.

@LarryUnderwood that doesn't sound like something you could do at home! Grin

Welcome @Pepper54. I started Couch25k in May last year and got up to 10km three times a weekShock. Now I run about four times and do 5-7 km depending on lots of things. I've lost 1.5 stone solidly and then up and down the same four pounds atm.

That's an amazing loss@132orbust and you're already at a good weight!

Good loss @newyearnewme21.

SunshineCake · 25/01/2021 12:22

A fun day is a mental health win @HalfShrunkMoreToGo!

Pepper54 · 25/01/2021 14:03

Thank you SunshineCake, I would love to be running 5k or more 3 times a week. I felt so much better after my run this morning (albeit was mainly walking).

Already finding it a bit difficult food wise, my teenagers and DH are home all the time and there is always someone in the kitchen for a little snack. It’s just constant feeding time here! I will have to be disciplined and remember how awful I feel at this weight.

B Coffee
L Slice of cheese and tomatoes
D Chicken stir fry

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 25/01/2021 17:10

I’ve been reading this thread, now joining in! Started WW online on 28th December and my January loss is exactly 1 stone! Super happy with that and determined to stay on track though February!

SunshineCake · 25/01/2021 18:39

Running is fab, @Pepper54. I'm so proud of myself that I've kept it up. Make sure you get proper trainers. I enjoyed the bike today for a change after a walk with dd down a long hill and back up but tomorrow I will run if the frost has melted.

132orbust · 26/01/2021 08:02

Day 23
SW:151
CW:141.5
GW:132
1lb off so really pleased with that
9lbs in 23 days.
I need to have another day or two like yesterday and see if I can hit the 10lb mark by Thursday.
@SunshineCake any news? Did you test?
Wow @hopingforabrighterfuture2021 that is amazing. Welcome aboard and well done.

Pepper54 · 26/01/2021 09:19

Hi everyone, did pretty good yesterday and lost 1lb. Off for a half hour fast walk in the rain.

B Coffee
L 2 scrambled eggs
D Chicken tray bake

joynoelle · 26/01/2021 11:05

10 stone 8 this morning. Scales finally moving down.

TheRealHousewife · 26/01/2021 11:14

A warm welcome @hopingforabrighterfuture2021, jump right in. How do you plan to do it?

Hi @132orbust I did test that afternoon as I was freaking out at going to the loo for a week every hour or less. It was negative. A couple of days later I still feel I am weeing a lot and also felt sick this morning. DH is adamant I am not pregnant. My oldest friend said unlikely but suggested I get a blood test to check if I am properly in menopause and also have my iron levels checked. I'm holding off on that due to covid. DH has said we would have the baby so if the first we know is I'm in labour then it doesn't matter Shock. I am sure I'm not. Well 99% as there is always that tiny chance.

Well done on your losses @Pepper54 and @ivyjoynoelle

I am the same weight as I've been since Friday but I'm happy with that as it isn't an increase and my weekend off didn't hurt. Also, must be due a whoosh down, yes?

Today I had a long walk with dh and dog and before that did an hour on the exercise bike as too icy to run. Have to confess to a jam and cream doughnut and a biscuit but I had cauliflower and walnut soup homemade for lunch with no bread.

@TheRealHousewife. It is highly unlikely.
Case against - I am nearly 49. Have had blood tests years ago that said I was peri-menopausal. DH had the snip and before we were lucky to conceive easily.
Case for - missing periods. Vasectomy can reverse.

So I'll say no [eek].

Fingers crossed for no frost so I can run tomorrow and no gold stars awarded as no one reminded me not to weigh daily!!GrinSadGrin.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 27/01/2021 07:21

No loss this week 😕

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4

30/12/2020 - 186lb, BMI 28.3
06/01/2021 - 185lb, BMI 28.1
13/01/2021 - 183lb, BMI 27.8
20/01/2021 - 180lb, BMI 27.4
27/01/2021 - 180lb, BMI 27.4

Loss this week - 0 lb
Loss this month - 6 lb
Total loss since starting - 53 lb

joynoelle · 27/01/2021 07:46

10 stone 7.2 this morning. Had stayed the same for a couple of weeks so pleased it's finally moving down.

Pootle40 · 27/01/2021 07:55

I'm sure some people think I am mad for starting weight watchers on the 1st January in a lockdown! I didn't have scales that worked until the 5th January but in those three weeks I have lost 8.5lbs!

SW 13st 4.5lbs
CW 12st 10lbs
TW 11st (but might try and nudge it to 10st 12lbs to get well in the normal BMI range)

132orbust · 27/01/2021 08:03

Welldone @Pepper54 and @joynoelle. It is great to see those scales moving in the right direction. The system keeps deleting my post as it wants me to call you @ivyjoynoelle!
@SunshineCake that is good news and of course the most likely is the test is right. What age did your Mum go through the menopause as that is a good indication of when you might apparently.
@HalfShrunkMoreToGo sorry there is no loss this week but 53lbs is such an achievement and there is no gain either.
Day 24
SW:151
CW:140.5
GW:132
Another 1lb off this morning that's 10.5bs in 23 days.
I expect a bit of a gain tomorrow as we have a family meal tonight chosen by the teens and even watching my portion and adding veg I expect an upward movement.
Hope everyones's day goes well.

SunshineCake · 27/01/2021 08:09

No idea re mother. No relationship.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 27/01/2021 08:12

Thanks @132orbust I think I'm a fair weather dieter 😂 I really seem to struggle to control my stodgy food cravings on cold days, I just want to eat and eat. When the weathers warm I can go days eating salads and doing exercise and feel perfectly content.

joynoelle · 27/01/2021 08:12

Well done pootle and 132 on your losses. Half shrunk the weeks when there is no loss are hard but you've done so well! Smilemaybe I should change my name back to ivyjoynoelle?
