HELLO, WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Actually that doesn’t read right with all the C19 malarkey. Strange & unprecedented times. Nonetheless, 2021 marks a fresh start and and an opportunity for renewal. This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking won’t mind me holding them up as our Poster Girls. They both did absolutely fantastic in 2020! ⭐️👏🥇

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In December I maintained; I’m hoping to see a loss this January which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Amazing HalfShrunk we're exactly the same weight! My weight loss is much slower but we're all different (I'm older and peri-menopausal! Bah!).

Was thinking same as you about weights- my aim in 10st 12, top end of healthy bracket, when I was 21 I was 8st 12! Jeez! I was at the gym 4× a week and clubbed every weekend for hours and hours into the wee, small hours. I look at photos of devil may care bikini shots and think that I didn't know how hot I was!!!! I'm continually reminding my grown up nieces (I have all boys) that in your 20s you're always much thinner and much hotter than you think you are! That weight is completely unrealistic for me these days, but the memories are amazing!Grin

SkeletonSkins · 19/01/2021 14:43

@132orbust 8lbs in 16 days, how fabulous. Well done you.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo hoping I follow you into the 12s this week 🤞🤞🤞

2lb off this week. Feel okay about that as I know it’s a good loss but I always think maybe I could have lost more if I’d have tried that but harder.

SW: 191lbs
CW: 182.8lbs
TW: 169lbs (healthy BMI!)

Had coconut flour pancakes today for lunch, really tasty with some Sweet Freedom sauce and low in carbs and cals. Had some veg too. Wholemeal pasta bake with home made 6-veg sauce for tea tonight, looking forward to that and I’ll freeze the extra sauce for next week.

Drybird2020 · 19/01/2021 18:42

Lovely graph, @HalfShrunkMoreToGo! Mine is a bit like that but with more ups and downs. Including this weekend when I abandoned all notion of eating mindfully and counting calories. I'm back up to 11st and I only have myself to blame 😕. Does anyone else get "stuck" around each half stone mark? I'm really having trouble getting below 11 and I had a similar plateau at 11st 7lb.

TheRealHousewife · 19/01/2021 22:02

Hello Everyone

I remember now @SunshineCake that you don’t calorie count 👍. I absolutely agree with being guided by your own hunger signals, and eating when hungry, especially if your metabolism functions normally. It’s the absolute gold standard in maintaining an healthy weight. Brain scan 😳. I’m sure they’ll find one, your one smart cookie 😬.

Welcome back @Onthebrink67 👍

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo I totally agree with app support. I love my MFP, Weight Diary and Zero apps. BTW lovely graph 🎖🥇⭐️

@132orbust nice steady progress ⭐️👍👏

@Puffalicious I’m sure you’re hot now too! In another decade you’ll reminisce about just that 😬

@SkeletonSkins your coconut flour pancakes sound tasty. I’ve not cooked much with coconut flour ... I pop some in my basket next online shop. Nice steady progress 👍

@Drybird2020 I totally get your disappointment but please don’t beat yourself up, move on and keep doing your thing and it will slowly come off. Plateaus do happen, especially if you’ve not far to go. This is a useful read.

WOW tomorrow for those who Weigh on Wednesday. I’m giving it a miss this week. I’ll only upset myself as I’m bloated from meds & water retention.

Take Care, stay safe everyone ❤️

Hi Everyone

Wow some really inspiring posts in here!! Well done to each and every one of you for your amazing losses 😁 it has given me a bit of a kick up the butt to read them all whilst I've been in my funk.

Today's WOW -

SW: 12 St 1 LB (1st Oct 2020)
CW: 10 St 7 Lb
GW: 9 St 7 Lb

Loss of 1lb this week

So back where I was on 6th Jan 😆 haha, never mind.

Apart from reaching for the leftover Christmas chocolates, I have actually been very good at doing my workouts on the fiit app and I can feel myself getting a little fitter and stronger! I'm hoping I can move from entry level fitness to beginner soon 😅 I've also been aiming to do 10,000 steps a day minimum, and taking the kiddies for a 1 mile walk each day - it's not far but at a toddler pace takes nearly an hour.....

I need to lose 2 LB next week to reach my original January Goal of finishing the month at 10 st 5 LB, so we shall see if we can do that now I am back on the MFP/Calorie Counting and not eating all the chocolate in sight!

GoLightlyontheEarth · 20/01/2021 09:39

Someone please give me a kick up the backside. I just can’t get started. Every day I start of well and then it gets worse as the day goes on. I feel totally depressed and demotivated, but feel physically awful.

Firstworlddilemma · 20/01/2021 10:56

Another week and 2lb down

SW 15st 7
CW 14st 11.5
TW 11st 2 (top of healthy BMI)

I don’t post much but love reading everyone’s updates. You are all doing so well and helping me more than you know.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 20/01/2021 10:58

Tell us what you ate yesterday @GoLightlyontheEarth and let us have a look and see what we can suggest. Is there any particular time of the day or thing that happens that makes you give up a little.

newyearnewme21 · 20/01/2021 10:59

Hello all, some really inspiring posts on here- well done one and all!

I am down 2lbs to 16 stone 1lb- that was from Thursday to Monday, I am not doing another official weigh in now until Monday as I want to get one a regular weekly weigh so we'll see what happens. Have been taking photos every day though of me in my undies and there is definitely a difference- much less bloat!

Had a takeaway last night as couldn't be bothered cooking, but rather than the usual curry or chippy tea we went Japanese and I chose some veggie sushi and a noodle soup which were both very low in calories and still kept me under my 1500- I found that afterwards I'd still scratched that naughty no cooking itch but didn't feel as gross and fat as I normally do!

AuldFox · 20/01/2021 11:05

It’s Weigh-in Wednesday for me.

SW 61.5kg
CW 60.3kg
GW 55kg

Very happy to report my first loss of 1.2kg since Christmas!

I’ve had a curry, and cake twice over the last two weeks so building in those portion-controlled treats. I’m so close to 50-something kg I can almost taste it. Hope everyone is getting along well, despite the less than ideal weather! Smile

SunshineCake · 20/01/2021 11:18

I was 11stone 2 on Sunday and Monday after my run. On Tuesday before my run I was a pound heavier. After my run I was 11 stone 1.4. 0.6lb lighter than the 17th but 2.6lb up on the 11th. Given I had two days in bed, six days without running and I have only been running about 5km on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I am taking it as a win! Less rubbish going in. Emotionally feel better. Enjoying making soup most days. Having chicken and butter bean casserole with rice for dinner. All positives.

Hope everyone else can keep going.

October 2018 I was 14 Stone through illness. May I was 12 stone 9. Yesterday I was 11 stone 1.4 so getting there. We've all got this!

AuldFox · 20/01/2021 11:43

Great progress there sunshine Smile

SunshineCake · 20/01/2021 11:58

Thank you @AuldFox. It feels it has been very slow but lately I feel positive about it coming off slowly as it is staying off. I've seen 10 stone a few times so I'm happy.

TheRealHousewife · 20/01/2021 15:30

Fabulous progress @SunshineCake 👍⭐️👏🎖🥇 great stuff!

Some really good results happening. I’m so pleased for you all ☺️

I’ve not weighed. However I’ve turned a corner pain wise had less meds today. Hoping to secure a loss by next WOW 🤩

OP posts:
SunshineCake · 20/01/2021 16:22

That's great you are in less pain, @TheRealHousewife. Good look for your next weigh in. I'm hoping to run tomorrow but I am shattered today.

Any clues how I burnt more calories in a walk than I did in my run?
Run - 5.29km. 36 minutes 16 seconds. 303 calories.
Walk - 6.1km. 1 hour 44mins. 456 calories.

Drybird2020 · 20/01/2021 22:30

@TheRealHousewife thanks for the supportive words about hanging around on the plateau! I've decided to stop beating myself up and go gently, the overall picture is good. Glad your pain is improving and thanks for the thread, it's helping 😊

132orbust · 21/01/2021 08:21

Morning check in to keep me honest and focused:
Day 18
SW:151
CW:141.75
GW:132
0.5lb down
9.25lbs in 18 days.
Onwards and inwards
Thanks for keeping us focused @TheRealHousewife and we are all glad you are in less pain. I am giving the Lelie walks credit for a lot of this weight loss. I found a great 33 minute one where she is alone so no grinning Nathan looking deranged in the background!! She is also a bit less 'overly cheerful' when she is in the studio alone and she said ' when you exercise right, it makes you want to eat right' and it is true. Love how she makes you focus on strengthening your core and better posture too. It removes my excuse of the weather being too bad to exercise as well. Win win.

Puffalicious · 21/01/2021 09:52

Weigh in day. Feeling better as 2lbs off and I'm now overweight not obese!!! It's slow- 15lbs since mid October- and a bit depressing when I see others here having brilliant losses every week, but I need to be thankful It's coming off.

SW 13st 12lbs BM1 31.9
CW 12st 11lbs BMI 29.4
TW 10st 12lbs (healthy BMI)

AuldFox · 21/01/2021 10:06

That’s awesome puffa

I think slow losses are better and we are more likely to keep the weight off long term that way. That’s what I tell myself anyway (me being the world’s slowest loser of weight...)

Puffalicious · 21/01/2021 10:34

Thanks Auldfox I know you're completely right. You are. I'm staying positive as it's a loss and now I'm over a stone I can really see a difference in myself. Grin

TheRealHousewife · 21/01/2021 10:39

Good Morning All

@SunshineCake the duration! You walked for over 3 times longer than run. Fast paced walking (allegedly) is just as effective as running. Or more effective if done for a longer duration. Plus it’s kinder to joints, knees and backs (and boobs in my instance 😬) well done!

Great results @Puffalicious 👍⭐️👏

@Drybird2020 @132orbust for your kind words. I also prefer LS working out on her own. Less distracting.

Have a great day everyone!
