Dancing through December

Octopus37 · 30/11/2020 07:27

Well thought I would start the last thread of the year. Weighed in at 9st2.25 this month, my aim is to end December at a similar weight. I'm not realistically expecting to lose.

The news that Barbara Windsor has died has really hit me today. We found out that she had Dementia 2 years after my dad got diagnosed, although i learned that she was diagnosed 2 years before him just didn't make it public for a while. She's older than him too. But she's always been there and I obviously held a soft spot for her even though I never watched Eastenders or Carry On.

Monochrome4 · 11/12/2020 20:07

Busy couple of days, just caught up on messages and they made me laugh, especially about the choice of arse or face! Love you ladies.

Interesting re double chin. My priority is to have good posture, so if that means I get a double chin then so be it. But if the double chin is a sign of problem with my posture then I want to correct it.

My son's school year has been sent home to self-isolate. I'm relieved it's taken this long to happen. I will have to cancel some work next week, but that isn't nearly as bad as what I'd have had to cancel if it had happened 2 weeks ago. Ladies please keep me strong! I love my little boy to bits but he can be quite stressful, and stress is when I start reaching into the cupboard for secret snacks.

Octopus37 · 12/12/2020 08:39

Sending hugs I dont mind marmite, know what you mean about news like that, hope you feel better today. Monochrome, good luck this week. Certainly true about the arse/face thing, much as I would love to be 8st again, I know my face would look a wreck. Went out with a friend last night, had Fish & Chips and and 2 drinks, 9st2.75 this morning, luckily did good steps yesterday. Got a headache though, my alcohol tolerance is abysmal these days, dont know if its an age thing. O well, got to crack on, lots to do as ever. Hope everyone has a good day

Oh god I'm the same octopus, one cocktail and I've a headache this morning, when I think of young me!! Well done on steps, I need to get mine in today. Lovely meal out but late eating and late getting in.

FestiveFannyGallops · 12/12/2020 09:17

Morning all. No more school run for me now so I will have to watch what I eat even more and make sure I do get out for a walk each day. We are going to go on evening walks to see Christmas lights and are going to go into the woods to collect holly and ivy (are we allowed to do that??)

TheHoneyBadger · 12/12/2020 09:42

Morning. Still 14:3.6. At least I'm not gaining.

At least it's just one week mono and the last week of term is generally pretty light anyway.

monkeytennis97 · 12/12/2020 16:02

Hi all got to 12 stone 6lbs again then back to 12 stone 7lbs a day later. @TheHoneyBadger same here at least I'm not gaining!

FestiveFannyGallops · 12/12/2020 21:37

Ive had a fuck it day today. I skipped dinner but ate chocolate and after 6pm too. Bad fanny. The tree is up though! Pretty sure I burned a fair amount of that chocolate sawing off the bottom 2 inches then lugging all 7.5ft of very heavy tree upstairs. It's a beauty though, can't wait to decorate it tomorrow with the dc. It smells amazing and is my one Christmas extravagance every year.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/12/2020 07:58

The sooner i forget yesterday the better! I went to Zizzi's and while I want more restaurants to publish nutritional information, i'm not sure it's helping me to know that the brownie dessert was 840 on it's own. I mean just how? It wasn't ginormous! One main course on the menu (pork belly) was 1900! Most pizza's around 1000. No wonder it was so hard to manage weight without calorie counting pre covid when I ate out at restaurants most weekends.

monkeytennis97 · 13/12/2020 08:03

Wow those numbers! Good job I haven't been to a restaurant since March although it sounds delicious! Back at 12 stone 6lbs todaySmile

IDontMindMarmite · 13/12/2020 08:20

Yeah the lack of restaurant eating has been a massive help. I had no idea.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 08:24

Omg re calories!! Blush I did OK yesterday until dh presented the Celebrations at 9pm... Lots of steps planned today! I haven't the energy to get into the zone but I will. Got a few Christmas presents from Reiss sale online and fitting into them will be motivation. I'll fit into them fine I mean but not if continue on the up. Got 50% off if anyone interested!

Octopus37 · 13/12/2020 08:28

Hope you enjoyed your shopping Heygirl, you will be fine you always get back in the zone. Hate seeing calories on menus I dont mind marmite, just depressing even though I can see why people want them. Festive, your Christmas tree sounds amazing, well done on the sawing. 9st1.75 here today, period started on Friday, v tried, had an awful nights sleep, pretty overwhelmed and burnt out at the moment. Going to try and do things one thing at a time today. Hope everyone has a good day.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/12/2020 08:46

The calories weren't on the menu, I went a googling. I think that's the best of both worlds.

Poor sleep makes everything feel so much worse. I recently read about a woman who really struggled to lose baby weight until her baby started sleeping more and of course then so she was able to sleep better and weight loss started happening. Weird.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 08:51

JS always emphasises good sleep. That was a big issue for me a year ago. Thanks octopus. Enjoy Sunday all.

NellietheNumpty · 13/12/2020 09:28

I am struggling with my weight this week. I weighed before my day and have put on a bit. I am eating carefully but rather disordered.
B- porridge with a tablespoon of cooked apple and Greek yoghurt
L- cappuccino and mince pie
D- sweet potato frittata with spinach
S- 2 ginger snaps that I baked 20g each.

FestiveFannyGallops · 13/12/2020 09:40

Holy crap, that's a lot of calories! I imagine it's all the fat and sugar they use but also on a lot it will be the portion size. People tend to expect big portions when they go out as it makes it worth the money it costs. I last ate out in February and it's not something we do often anyway. There's a local Italian we go to fir birthdays and the odd other occasion. Their spinach and ricotta cannelloni is amazing.
60.3kg this morning. Will I hit 60 dead on by Christmas??

TheHoneyBadger · 13/12/2020 09:58

Still the same weight. Just checked my graphs and I was half a pound higher 5 and 6 days ago so I guess I can count this week a whisker of a win.

Wondering how long it's going to take me to get back to where I was before the regains of the second half of November.

Can't remember who posted about the slow jogging but thank you. It's made sense to me and I've introduced little bursts of jogging on the treadmill now I've realised it doesn't mean having to go faster and the calorie burn and heart rate goes up despite going at the same speed I was walking at. Before I was trying to sort of propel myself into running by amping up the speed which was just stressful and I didn't feel I was doing it right with good form but just trying to prevent landing on my face Blush

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 11:21

Brilliant HB. What was the treatment for fungal nail BTW? I now have one Blush Very true re portion size when out and it is hard not to feel it's a waste if not finished. You'll do it I'm sure Fanny.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/12/2020 11:30

I know exactly what you mean about the way you were trying to run before. Funny how that one little video makes it so much more accessible.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/12/2020 11:52

Yep and it's so much less jarring and rough feeling.

Fungal nail advice varies. My personal advice s whether you're going with tea tree oil, vicks or a more medical product you need to roughly file the surface of the nail so the treatment can actually penetrate in. Disposable Emery boards obviously, file the end and whole surface thoroughly dust off and apply treatment. And repeat every night and sleep with a sock on.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 12:17

OK I have been using a spray treatment but the thought of filing has crossed my mind. 8-10m to clear it says...! Envy not envy.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/12/2020 13:00

It'll go on forever without filing imo.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 14:57

Sugar.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/12/2020 20:24

Best day in a while - thankfully, very much needed!! My issue isnt the need to diet, it's the need not to overeat! Anyway, if it's OK think I will log what I've eaten rather than planned meals, for full disclosure/accountability!
B: latte and muesli, mandarin
L/D: massive bowl of delicious pumpkin risotto with goat's cheese
S: snack size chocolate bar.
Water: didn't hit the full 3L but will have another glass of two
Steps: 15,623 v pleased.
I ate dínner early as it was lunch/dinner so I'll have a long fast now and no harm, around 15h.
Tomorrow is: ONO deluxe, bolognese with veg and cheese, no carb, dinner tbc.
