Dancing through December

Octopus37 · 30/11/2020 07:27

Well thought I would start the last thread of the year. Weighed in at 9st2.25 this month, my aim is to end December at a similar weight. I'm not realistically expecting to lose.

I made a video of myself today and my double chin is as bad as ever, despite my weight loss! How is that fair? Is it an age thing, like the fact I now have three pairs of glasses? I'm not that old! (42). Sorry to be so vain.

FestiveFannyGallops · 09/12/2020 21:28

I think the chin is a lockdown thing. My dds developed one each and they are only 11 and 13 and only 6 stone fully clothed. I've got a comfy little pad of fat under my chin too and I'm sure I need glasses. I'm 44.
Tonight I want all the chocolate. Bloody hormones.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/12/2020 21:40

Love the tooth brushing analogy!

Double chin is a posture thing.

Monochrome4 · 09/12/2020 21:46

Ah I was wondering whether it was a posture thing. That would also explain why it's a lockdown thing - I think spending lots of time indoors is probably not good for our posture.

I will think more about my posture. I've been doing PIlates and have done Alexander Technique in the past. But clearly my posture still needs work (not just because of the double chin).

IDontMindMarmite · 09/12/2020 21:48

Yeah I was gonna say, it's how you position your head. To minimise double chin you have to stick your face out and down slightly.

FestiveFannyGallops · 09/12/2020 22:25

Welcome @sparklyglitterball

Today's stats:
19,729 steps
8.27 miles
90 floors
137 active minutes
2284 calories burnt
1348 calories consumed

I am tired and growly hungry.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/12/2020 07:18

Out and down encourages a hunch. Double chin occurs when your neck is neutral and you're not hanging the weight of your head forward on it.

The exercise I was taught to do to help the neck involves creating a a huge double chin. We spend too much time with our head tipped forward and down over devices.

IDontMindMarmite · 10/12/2020 07:50

There's loads of youtube videos on making sure you don't have a double chin in photos.

sparklyglitterball · 10/12/2020 07:58

Thanks for the welcome. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since I started my healthy eating plan and the point where I usually loose momentum and interest! So really trying to push on through and stay on track. I love the teeth brushing analogy too, makes so much sense. I'm thinking that Christmas will probably delay weight loss, as I will most likely regain a couple of pounds that I'd lost, and will have to re lose again afterwards........but staying determined that I will lose any weight gained and get back on plan!! I'm running a couple of times a week too, and trying to do plenty of power walking with my youngest dd in the buggy too when I'm not at work. Well done and good luck everyone!

Octopus37 · 10/12/2020 07:58

Well done everyone. Welcome Glitterball. Heygirl, you are doing so well, all your food seems so healthy. It is a hard time of year, especially when it is so cold. 9st1.75 still this morning, but tbh haven't been very good. Steak pie for tea last night, one of the things that DS2 said he might eat, they are both horribly fussy. Of course he didn't like it, I did. Happy Thursday all x

Morning all,

Welcome @sparklyglitterball! I agree, Christmas may delay weightloss, or cause a little upswing but it doesn't need to completely undo all the previous good work.

My day was ok yesterday, prob maintenance cals:

B coffee, pain au chocolat
L chicken wrap from supermarket (400)
D beef stew and Yorkshire's
S hot chocolate, gingerbread biscuit and a few heroes

Today I've started with a coffee and a pain au choc. Not the most filling of breakfasts but they're not huge (210 cals)

Thinking boiled eggs and soldiers for lunch as got a day off work today.

Really need to do a workout but feeling tired and headachy. Really lost my mojo on that front!

Have a lovely day all

Hangoverstruggles · 10/12/2020 09:31

@HeyGirlHeyBoy accidental Mac & cheese 😁 it happens!

I've developed saggy wrinkles on my chin / neck 😩 I don't know if it's just ageing or due to losing weight but I've noticed a crinkly patch! I'm 36, can cope with the crows feet but this feels like a new development 😬 As the saying goes, you have to choose between arse or face! Smaller arse = craggier face 🤣

IDontMindMarmite · 10/12/2020 09:53

I could never ever give up my family recipe mac and cheese. But the best thing that has happened to it is to add a whole head of cauliflower florets. I love cauliflower cheese, love mac and cheese - what's not to love about combining them? And it reduces the calorie count whilst still giving you a sizeable portion.

FestiveFannyGallops · 10/12/2020 10:22

I don't think there's much hope for my arse or face 😩 I need to take better care of my skin as my eye area is dry and I have hollows you could go caving in.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 10/12/2020 11:04

Yes good idea I actually mean to get cauliflower anyway. I love broccoli or anything green with it either. Octopus thank you, my food is good but it's the calls to my DDad and the tin of roses I can't turn down at 9pm which is the problem. However I didn't buy anything lol. Find it so hard to turn off the brain message of 'Am tired, need chocolate, hard day need chocolate' etc. Have a good day all.
B: berries and Greek yoghurt
L: ratatouille
D: the poor forgotten chickpea curry Grin

sparklyglitterball · 10/12/2020 12:28

@IDontMindMarmite what a great idea re combining Mac and cheese with cauliflower! I will give that a try.

@Hangoverstruggles I've also noticed some saggy neck wrinkled bits 😩 I did wonder if the weight loss had made them
more noticeable.

@HeyGirlHeyBoy I am a mega chocoholic. I've always allowed myself a treat of something chocolaty once the kids are in bed. It's trying to resist sweet stuff throughout the day that's a challenge.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 10/12/2020 16:01

Now ye are not going to get me analysing my neck as well as my thighs Grin I am fine for chocs during day as I am not left alone Grin But when night time strikes and I have two minutes to sit down... Anyway. Nothing here now so it's chickpea curry and that's that.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/12/2020 18:19

There is leftover lasagna and veg in the fridge from when ds fell asleep before dinner the day before yesterday. He has just fallen asleep again so that may be my dinner.

His body clock hasn't properly adjusted to being back at school and he comes home exhausted then wakes up at 4am and repeat.

Really don't fancy 2 day old leftovers but it will do.

IDontMindMarmite · 10/12/2020 18:24

I can't claim intellectual copyright on the concept, that might belong to Jamie Oliver. Though I doubt it. I've not tried his recipe as I love my own.

IDontMindMarmite · 10/12/2020 18:25

You're kidding Badger, lasagne just gets better with age! Until it turns of course.

Octopus37 · 11/12/2020 07:23

9st2.5 this morning, think period is imminent. TBH not doing that wel with food, ok on the steps though. One day at a time.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 11/12/2020 07:52

Yep leftover lasagna was nice.

14:3.5 today so that seems to be a true weight.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 11/12/2020 08:28

9st for me on my weekly weigh in.. Can't be surprised or disappointed, not being consistent but that is my limit so it's down or nothing from here!! Grin Out tonight for a meal and some drinks. Cannot wait. Won't worry too much and will get those steps in over weekend.
B: apple, almonds and Greek yoghurt
L: chickpea and carrot soup
D vegetable spring roll and Thai curry with a daiquiri or two Smile I don't belong here today do I?! Grin
Happy Friday all!
