Dancing through December

Octopus37 · 30/11/2020 07:27

Well thought I would start the last thread of the year. Weighed in at 9st2.25 this month, my aim is to end December at a similar weight. I'm not realistically expecting to lose.

Yes I think this is a good week to stand firm and then push for the steps over the actual break. My birthday cake is still hanging around but if all meals are good I'm fitting in a slice and still coming we'll under 2k cals (which is my usual burn, and sometimes a few hundred more).

TheHoneyBadger · 21/12/2020 14:22

I've bought a lovely over size rose gold sweater for Christmas day. Bit sparkly so that constitutes dressing up for me.

I'm off the wagon and not even kidding myself I'm getting back on till after Christmas. I got on the scales yesterday and my weight has swung up but I really need to just relax and enjoy Christmas properly so it is what it is and I'll just have to deal with it afterwards.

Just checking in. Well done to everyone keeping on keeping on!

Octopus37 · 21/12/2020 14:39

Your sweater sounds lovely HoneyBadger, sparkly is good. Think we all deserve to enjoy Christmas as much as we can. Heygirl I'm 5ft5, so not tall, not small. Just done some more Christmas food shopping, getting there slowly but surely.

Ah fairly tall octopus, you're very slim for that height I'm sure. Waves to HB!
I had a NSV this afternoon, colleague I hadn't seen in a year came back and said 'Look at you!' while putting her hand up and down (you know what I mean?!) Anyway I was delighted. Smile

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 21/12/2020 18:05

Logging before I put on my teeth strips Grin
B: weetabix and coffee
L: berries, banana, Greek yoghurt and almonds
D: roast chicken, two small toasties, 3 roast carrots and gravy (gravy surprisingly low cal)
S: mandarin and 2 large slices Bday cake (Thankfully it's nearly gone!)

IDontMindMarmite · 21/12/2020 20:51

Good evening everyone. My water drinking has gone to pot, must try harder. Limping through the last few days of work. Keep going everyone. Keep going.

NellietheNumpty · 22/12/2020 06:17

I have lost 0.3kg this week! I have no idea how as I have been snacking in the evening.
Yesterday
B- 1 slice rye bread low fat Philadelphia and grapes
S- slice of pannetone
L chickpea stew
D parsnip soup half a roll
Cheese and crackers
Cheering you all on your way

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 22/12/2020 06:57

Your daytime cals low tho Nellie. Well done!! Had a lovely early night last night, much needed. Lots of hydration and fruit and nuts today. Have a good day all.

Monochrome4 · 22/12/2020 08:31

Morning all. 61.2 this morning (down from 61.7 yesterday) so thankfully I've started reversing the upswing. I kept under 1600 calories yesterday, got in 12k steps and went on my usual bike ride. Easy to do when I have the opportunity! I'll do that each day this week and hopefully get back down below 61 before Christmas.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 22/12/2020 08:35

Wow well done Monochrome! I'm aiming for 12k steps each day over the break, trying to see it as an opportunity for more exercise as well as the inevitable extra cals that will come and think I can be relaxed and enjoy it that way. Might even build up to the full 5k run which I know I can do with a bit of a push.

Octopus37 · 22/12/2020 08:49

Well done Nellie. Heygirl that must have felt good, you must have been so pleased. Everyone seems to be doing well. Going to try and up my walking drinking today. Got quite a busy day out and about for work. Have a good day all

NellietheNumpty · 22/12/2020 09:02

@HeyGirlHeyBoy. That is a good thought I will try to eat more in the day and up my water in take. To be honest I am finding life tough. I am on leave but now alone for Christmas. My days feel formless.

FestiveFannyGallops · 22/12/2020 10:03

Well done everyone. I have put away the chocolates until Christmas Eve. We are going for a walk today to give us some energy abs get out of the house. We will collect some holly and ivy for a table centre piece while we are out.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 22/12/2020 13:26

I really meant it in a reassuring way Nellie, but yes if it's hunger driving you to snack you could load up those meals! I've had some treats in school as they were there, eyeroll! But I will walk plenty today. Nellie, maybe put some form on the day for yourself, early walk, reading, TV time etc. Might help.

Enjoy Fanny.

Monochrome4 · 22/12/2020 13:27

NellietheNumpty sorry that you're going to be alone. :-( That's pants.

I have the opposite problem in that exercise is limited while being in charge of the kids. Taking them out to the playground just ups the step counter by 3000 but I don't get real exercise. The outdoor gym's a bit better because I can run round it in circles while they're playing. It's not really the done thing in the playground.

My husband is on annual leave this week but is going into work nearly as much as when he's not, because he works for the NHS and the NHS is in chaos. :-(

IDontMindMarmite · 22/12/2020 16:58

Well, i've finally reached my "It's Christmas and calories don't count" mentality. I'm amazed i've held out this long to be honest! So I feel sick now of course. Bleurgh. I haven't had so much sugary stuff in one day in a long time now. I can't bring myself to log everything (not even that much but just so calorie dense shall we say...).

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 22/12/2020 17:29

I'm logging for accountability Blush

B: banana, mandarin and Greek yoghurt
L: junk in school: one packet of crisps, a chomp, a starbar, some jellies, 3/4 celebrations...
D: heading out with two friends for pasta dinner. High cal encore but looking forward. Will run and/or walk tomorrow and get a routine of sorts into place.

Monochrome4 · 22/12/2020 20:36

HeyGirlHeyBoy Well you're being honest at least! Actually it doesn't look as though you've had that much. You must be pretty hungry.

I've managed to stay within 1600 today despite the unhealthy menu by measuring everything carefully. I'm actually feeling pretty full because exercise has been minimal. I might try and do some this evening.

FestiveFannyGallops · 22/12/2020 21:29

Ive no idea what I've eaten calorie wise and I've just cracked open the baileys.
Breakfast: tea, toast, butter
Lunch: cheese on toast, tea, handful Pringles
Dinner: quorn Bolognese, mince pie
Snack 5 chocolate buttons

I pretty hungry tonight.
I've met my step target and walked 4.1 miles today so I'm quite happy with that.

FestiveFannyGallops · 22/12/2020 21:35

@NellietheNumpty that sucks Sad what would you normally do/had planned? I'm wondering if you can positive think your way into a lovely day even if by yourself.

NellietheNumpty · 22/12/2020 22:21

Thanks everyone.
I am actually ok about Christmas Day. I had another thread the other day planning my menu. Strangely it is these days leading up to Christmas that are hard. I have presents under the tree and no one to unwrap them.
This evening I had some good news though. Usually I have Christmas Day with my best friend we have 5 adult children between us. 3 of them are stuck in London. There have been lots of tears over the phone, our sons are very distressed but have now decided to cycle to be together on Christmas Day. It is very funny and touching the idea that these lads who have grown up together cycling around with crackers and turkey to go to crappy flats to support each other.

Octopus37 · 23/12/2020 07:58

Thats really lovely that they are doing that, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. Calories have kind of gone out of the window for me now, but as I'm still out and about for work, my step count is reasonable. Had some jalapeno poppers yesterday, they were divine. 9st 3 this morning.

Hangoverstruggles · 23/12/2020 18:45

Hello! Sorry I've been away for ages, hope everyone is doing ok?

I've just finished work for 3 days 🙌🏻 back in Sunday. Worked some crazy hours, on top of all the Christmas prep at home so been really flat out. Not been tracking cals and snacks have been creeping in. Also not found time for exercise sadly and can't see that changing until the new year.

Weighed in at 9st 12 this morning so still maintaining. BMI 20.9. Pleased I haven't gained but feeling a lot less toned since stopping my HIIT classes. I'm amazed I haven't gained to be honest.

I'm going to enjoy my food until new year and see where I am.

I hope none of you are too affected by the COVID rule changes. It's just shitty new story after the other xx

Monochrome4 · 23/12/2020 23:12

Hello everyone. Relatively quiet on this chat, no surprise there! I hope everyone's ok and remember, don't panic.

FestiveFannyGallops · 23/12/2020 23:24

61 tonight. I got a walk in and met my step target so I'm happy with that. It's been a very busy day and the list of jobs seems never ending. I've not counted calories or stick to IF for a few days now as really can't be bothered. I'm just not stuffing my face and am staying active and drinking lots of water.
