Dancing through December

Octopus37 · 30/11/2020 07:27

Well thought I would start the last thread of the year. Weighed in at 9st2.25 this month, my aim is to end December at a similar weight. I'm not realistically expecting to lose.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 16/12/2020 15:05

I am starving today so eating all round me but keeping it low cal stuff... Nonetheless it will add up. Will post the lot later.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 16/12/2020 16:32

OK I am logging.
B: 2 weetabix with milk
L: chickpea soup
S: mandarin x2, banana, apple, 30 almonds, 4 X skips (thanks for the low cal recommendation but scoffing 4 not great), 10 marshmallows. Fuuuucccckk! Oh well. Done for today. Lots of goodness fitted in as well as the shite! Hope you all are doing better/caring more!
Water and steps going to plan. Awake since 4am with a dc and then a storm Gin

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2020 20:31

Wiped out. Covid test on the way. We are isolating due to contact with someone and now symptoms. Mostly just been really tired and general achiness and a headache I can't shake but ds managed a temperature earlier so tests ordered.

No real appetite or energy and ds voluntarily cooked an odd egg and noodles concoction for himself so I've just had 2 snack size packets of crisps and a fake bailey's. Not exactly nutritious. Thinking lots of water and an early night in order.

If I do get hungry I'll have a can of vegetable soup. If I can summon the energy my intention is to make a stew and fill it with veg and soy beans and seeds and whatever goodness I can stuff in it.

IDontMindMarmite · 16/12/2020 20:50

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough Badger, that sounds horrible.

No sign of my appetite today due to work stuff. I suppose that will make up for the weekend. Life is hard. Hopefully Christmas break will be fucking life changing. That might be asking a bit much.

Monochrome4 · 16/12/2020 21:16

Oh no HoneyBadger! I hope it doesn't turn out to be the dreaded virus and you feel better quickly, whatever it is.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2020 21:44

Marmite: Hopefully Christmas break will be fucking life changing Grin That should be the post of the day. I fucking hope so too!

Thanks Mono. Hopefully it's just a run of the mill bug.

We got the decorations out of the attack and onto the landing but they have progressed no further.

Octopus37 · 17/12/2020 07:03

Sorry to hear that HoneyBadger, hope its isn't COVID and that you feel better soon I dont mind marmite, hope the Christmas break does you good to, and all of us for that matter. I will still be doing quite a bit of work, but it will be just nice to go at a slightly slower pace and actually take a couple of days off. 9st2.5 this morning. Not doing amazingly with food at the moment, but not awful. However, I did manage lots of water yesterday and over 15,000 steps

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 17/12/2020 09:18

I think we have to count every positive.. For my part I am just about getting my 10k steps and I'm just going to eat as much fruit, veg and nuts as I want to keep myself ticking over in some way.. Love the quote!

TheHoneyBadger · 17/12/2020 09:28

Well done octopus sounds like you're keeping things in check.

I failed on water yesterday so needed the reminder this morning. Reminding myself that humans have forever found this part of the year the hardest hence the marking of winter solstice to celebrate the turning to days getting longer.

Catholic upbringing but I more naturally celebrate the nature landmarks like the solstices and equinoxes. Nothing major but ds and I will likely light every candle in the house on the 21st and have a conversation about the year so far and let go of some things and set some intentions for going forward.

I like him to experience a sense of ceremony and pause and reflection. He used to go to church with my dad sometimes (baptist) won't go to mass with my mum. But lighting candles and incense and forgiving yourself and others and letting go of mental and emotional weight and setting intentions and minuscule meditation he seems to get instinctively.

Sorry very off topic but basically let's take it easy on ourselves and know we're on the uphill dark stretch of any year let alone 2020 and all of this darkness is hard going but it will pass. It doesn't seem to be the 'season' for weight loss for me at the minute but it will change.

sparklyglitterball · 17/12/2020 12:31

@TheHoneyBadger I really like the sound of teaching your dc a sense of ceremony and pausing for reflection. We're not a religious family, but I would like to introduce the dcs to something like this. Maybe solstice and the equinox days would be a good opportunity Smile

WeightLoss wise I'm being pretty strict this week, only eating two meals per day due to 16:8 and keeping to within calories. But been really rubbish on the exercise front. Planning to head out for a run both days this weekend.

FestiveFannyGallops · 17/12/2020 17:17

My diet is a mess. I'm too tired and busy and cba to cook properly so the dc have talked me into a pizza takeaway again. This is the last one this year and I'm giving up chocolate from after dinner. Well, pretty much now. No more until Christmas Eve and back to my 15:9 too otherwise I'll never hit 60kg.

I don't know about anyone else but I'll be glad to get all the presents out of my wardrobe and cupboards and stop having to hide things. There's just stuff everywhere and it's driving me crazy.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/12/2020 17:36

Oh Fanny I ate the chocolate orange that was hidden on the top shelf of my wardrobe last night Xmas Blush Ds spotted the empty packaging in my bedside table drawer earlier and I was like oh that was from ages ago Xmas Blush

I'm all over the place with news of testing centres in schools and last minute expectations that we'll be simultaneously teaching in school, remote and becoming covid testers after the holidays Confused I cba to even be angry or take it seriously at this point because with this government I keep expecting someone to jump out and shout 'April Fool!' or something Hmm

Our tests have been done and posted and I have everything crossed we're negative and can have Christmas with family and that Marmite is right and somehow Christmas will change absolutely everything. Watching ds psyche himself up for swabbing his nose and 'stabbing himself in the brain' as he put it has been the highlight of my day.

This year is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Sorely tempted to order takeaway here too but red wine on an empty stomach will do for now Shock

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 17/12/2020 18:12

Oh gosh this is a really tough time, for sure. Thinking of you HB and love your ritual with DS.

Logging for the day, first the good stuff:
B: weetabix and coffee
L: veg chilli, no rice or extras
D: one serving spoon lasagna and lots of broccoli, peas and carrots
S: 20 almonds, banana, apple
And the shite: one hot choc and 6 Blush club milks (mini bars in case they're an Irish thing). Dreadful and unnecessary. Water in and full to the brim. Will have to move to hit 10k steps before bed but have an awful sore throat. Will weigh in morning Confused

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 17/12/2020 22:09

Listening to a few podcasts there and one highly recommended withings scales, did anyone hear of them? Wonder would it be a nice present to self to help get motivated. One thing I'm not afraid of funnily, is Chris, as I have been so unrestricted that I'm not feeling any pressure! Every cloud..!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 07:41

0.25 down since Mon. That's a win. Next weigh next Fri, Christmas morning on the scales, that's commitment Grin I have a work lunch/dinner today so have eaten a massive bowl of porridge and fruit to get me through till 3pm, fruit and nuts if needed before then and hopefully won't each much afterwards. Have a good day all, happy Friday!

Octopus37 · 18/12/2020 08:20

Well done Heygirl. Got the boys off school now so he pace has slowed a bit, although I'm still doing quite a bit of work over Christmas. 9st2.5 this morning.Off to meet a friend later and have a socially distanced kebab outside (we're tier 3 and I have checked that this isn't breaking the rules). Aiming to drink lots of water and I know I'll do a lot of steps cause we'll be going for a walk as well

OP posts:
IDontMindMarmite · 18/12/2020 08:26

I feel like Christmas morning is getting your weigh in, in the calm before the storm, so good timing Grin. I've not heard of that podcast.

Happy maintenance this morning for me. I'm definitely feeling better about Christmas than I was a few months ago. Now it really will just be a couple of/few days, rather than the 2 month long binge it has been previously...

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 08:47

Sounds like the perfect balance octopus! Thanks for water reminder! No Idontmindmarmite the podcast recommended that particular scales! A little motivation I thought for Jan. I'm delighted to be honest with 0.25 loss. I'm up 5lbs from lowest in early October but feel it's v doable to sort that once in right frame of mind, doesn't have to be today or tomorrow. And even though didn't have a great week my f&v intake and water definitely helped.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 20:41

Quiet here today! Logging for today. These teeth whitening strips are definitely good for the impulse evening snacking!
B: porridge with blueberries, apple and cinnamon
L: green chicken curry with half portion rice and v little sauce
D: lasagna and veg
S: orange, 20 almonds, kiwi
Happy enough with that. Just normal eating and not bingeing basically. It might be my birthday tomorrow so I will have a relaxed day with just the promise not to binge! Didn't get the water I hoped in after a good start.

sparklyglitterball · 18/12/2020 21:02

@HeyGirlHeyBoy sounds like you're doing well! Have a lovely day tomorrow, I would be more than a little relaxed on the diet front for a birthday. I had some Mexican tomatoe rice with veggie sausages and salad for lunch. Had fruit, and rice cake with peanut butter as snacks. Still waiting to have dinner as toddler dd is being a little demon at bedtime!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 21:12

Oh I hope you get her down soon! Sounds like a good food day 👍

IDontMindMarmite · 18/12/2020 21:29

Might be your birthday? I hope you figure it out soon Grin
B: Yoghurt, honey on toast
L: Ham and perl barley soup
D: Spag bol
S: half a cookie, slice of chocolate log

Advent calendar chocolate doesn't count Smile

DH won a grand and has bought a fancy pants turbo trainer that links up with real life terrain. We've no idea how to use it but it sure looks smart.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 22:25

You're doing great! That sounds v impressive, no idea what it is!

IDontMindMarmite · 18/12/2020 22:28

Its a machine that you attach your bicycle to for indoor cycling. It hooks up with cycling video games, increases and decreases resistance to simulate hills, blah blah blah

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 18/12/2020 22:51

Very cool! Sounds ideal. Is your dh keeping off the weight? Sounds like it.
