Diet pills

I have always struggled with my weight but put it down to secret eating/too big portions etc.

Since lockdown, I have gone from eating 3 meals a day to 1.
I did extreme keto for a couple of months but didn't lose any weight and got really bad headaches so now I do low carb. I wasn't losing weight so I now have high carb/cheat days which seems to actually help! And since April I have lost about 3lbs in total.

For the amount I eat and the fact I am on my feet all day I would hope/want to be losing a lot more than this!

So I was wondering if anyone takes any diet pills to help with weight loss?
I am worried about side effects so I haven't trusted the reviews online incase they are fake.

I'm sorry @Dietpill

I obviously am doing something wrong but I haven't found what yet and most people's suggestions I've already tried. I know a lot of posters might think I haven't but if it was as simple as not logging what I'm eating properly or eating double the calories then it would be an easy fix and I would have done it already as diet pills are my absolute last resort

... but you're just not listening to what people here are telling you. And to say you've tried people's suggestions and they haven't worked is either an insult to the posters who have given you the benefit of their advice or an indication that there is something physically wrong with you.

So which is it?

youvegottenminuteslynn · 03/12/2020 11:34

@Dietpill

OP you need to commit to doing a few weeks of ready meals / meal delivery service

I do do mostly readymeals/canned soup unless its a salad or something but a meal delivery service might be a good idea if there is one that is aimed at weight loss which I'm sure there will be.

I'm not sure what else to suggest as you can't have been logging the calories correctly (not even close if you say you over compensate) and have only lost three pounds. It isn't physically possible. Even if you had say 1500 calories a day for the length of time you've been dieting I believe you would have lost far more weight than three pounds. I'm not sure if you're being honest with yourself about your diet but I really do hope you find something that works for you Flowers

I'm losing weight by eating 1100 calories 5 days a week and two cheat days

And I mean big cheat days- wine, dominos, McDonald's the lot. I doubt it's your cheat days that are the problem.

Are you weighing your food out prior to cooking/eating? This is really important. Not so much for salads/vegetables (if fresh) but for meat and certainly any carbs.

Do you have dressings on your salads? Cook with butter or anything etc?

@BIWI in what way am I not listening?

I don't think I have been insulting in any way and I have thanked everyone for their comments and advice but what is insulting is when people say I am eating double the calories I am recording or not being honest when what would be the point in lying!
A lot of the suggestions people have mentioned so far I have already tried - I'm not sure how that could be insulting?!

I don't believe I have a medical condition as I feel I would have other symptoms but no way would I go and see a doctor about it anyway as people like you assume that I must be lying when I am telling the truth so the doctor would just think the same.

How active are you?
I spoke to a personal trainer who said I wasn't eating enough calories which is why I wasn't losing weight (I struggle to understand this lol) so I increased my calories and seemed to put on 5lbs really quickly so I stopped as I couldn't cope with my weight going up so much but to be honest I only gave it about 10 days so maybe if I had stuck with it it would have been better.

My friend loses weight by eating a big bowl of cereal for breakfast, 2 x sandwiches for lunch and a whole pizza for dinner. And then every weekend she has takeaway and wine - and that is her diet hahaha which I can't understand how she loses so much weight doing it but she says she usually eats lots of chocolates and wine during the week so by cutting these out the weight just drops of her without having to extreme diet like I do.

I think that it would be important to keep an absolutely religious food diary for a few weeks (take photos if necessary) so that if you really are only eating those calories and not losing weight you can prove it to the GP.

Because I think if you can stay stable at 1000 cals per day you need some metabolic investigations...and you won't have a chance of a referral without the food diary!

But some people really do struggle to lose weight - particularly if this isn't your first time dieting/regaining - it does get harder every time!

@Dietpill if you really would like some support we could start a new thread where we put photos up of what we have eat each day with the calories for them. The other thing that you might find helpful is to not focus on the food you aren’t having but touca on getting good quality food into you. A minimum of 5 serves of veggies a day for example would be a good start. It would help with health even if there is no immediate decrease on the scales.

My only goal is to lose weight.
I have been on various diets where I cut food groups out and some days I will not eat at all or only eat 300kcals a day for a few days in a row. I most recently did keto where you cut out the majority of fruits and vegetables (and I didn't lose weight) but I know I didn't get fat from fruits and vegetables.
People will say I have a very healthy diet because I don't eat junk food very often. But actually, I have an awful diet!
Although mentally it's hard to reset my way of thinking I am going to try and have proper meals even if it's just vegetables on my plate to keep the calories down at least I will be getting the right minerals and vitamins.

@Dietpill it’s interesting you didnt copy the part where i offered to help support you. You also totally missed the point of whatI was saying.

Im not sure who those people are saying you eat a healthy diet but from what you are saying here you really don’t. You are eating a high fat high carbohydrates diet with hardly any vegetables. Which would be fine if you felt happy and healthy but you don’t.

You have also not discussed with the posters who are taken diet pills whats happening.

If you are overweight and happy guve up the diets. Stop beating yourself up and enjoy food. If not go to a dietitian to help you form a life long plan.

Bluntness100 · 04/12/2020 20:15

You don’t cut out the veggies in keto. What are you taking about? If anything you eat more. A shit ton of veg to be exact.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 04/12/2020 22:02

There are absolutely LOADS of vegetables you can have on keto! It doesn't sound like your researching anything in depth, or following things strictly if you do. Photographing and sharing your meals was a great shout from the previous poster. It could really help you identify what's going wrong or being missed.

I do 20-30min exercise (strength training/body conditioning) 4-5 times a week. Pretty much sedentary other than that.

If you are having cheat day/meals then you don't need to increase your calories anymore- that's a load of nonsense. I always question this logic in any case- if you need to eat in excess of a certain amount to lose weight then why are people in countries with famine so skeletal?

Keto/not keto, fruits vegetables whatever really doesn't matter. It's all about calories in/out.
