Diet pills

I have always struggled with my weight but put it down to secret eating/too big portions etc.

Since lockdown, I have gone from eating 3 meals a day to 1.
I did extreme keto for a couple of months but didn't lose any weight and got really bad headaches so now I do low carb. I wasn't losing weight so I now have high carb/cheat days which seems to actually help! And since April I have lost about 3lbs in total.

For the amount I eat and the fact I am on my feet all day I would hope/want to be losing a lot more than this!

So I was wondering if anyone takes any diet pills to help with weight loss?
I am worried about side effects so I haven't trusted the reviews online incase they are fake.

So you're not actually following a low carb diet then. The cheating isn't working for you, and I would think it means you're never actually getting into fat-burning mode, but your body is still relying on carbs for its fuel.

A jacket potato is probably one of the worst things you could be eating (if you want to be low carb, that is).

If you do follow a low carb diet, you will also find that your appetite is naturally suppressed, so you won't need to worry about taking diet pills.

What kind of low carb diet did you think you were trying to follow? It sounds like it's all a bit random and haphazard!

Re exercise - that will have much less impact on weight loss than you would expect. According to Dr Jason Fung (writer of The Obesity Code), exercise only accounts for 5% of weight loss - diet is 95%.

Cavagirl · 29/11/2020 17:48

OK, I read your OP as since the start of lockdown 2.
So you've not gained any weight since April, just been losing incredibly slowly.
I agree with @Bluntness100 if you're "trying" to do low carb it won't happen. You're either calorie counting or low carbing (or both) but it sounds like you're not really doing either fully.

BIWI · 29/11/2020 17:48

@SchrodingersImmigrant

There is no shame in not being able to low carb😁 I couldn't.

If it doesn't work for you, try something else.

You're absolutely right! Different things work for different people.

However, the OP needs to try to do low carb properly first before deciding it isn't working! Grin

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 17:52

Op, you can’t “try’ to do low carb, you either do or you don’t, and you don’t if you’re eating spag Bol and jacket potatoes.

I stopped doing keto/strictly low carb as I felt ill and just didn't lose weight off it so I thought whats the point so now I will have spag bol but do only a small amount of brown pasta but because it is the only meal I eat that day then I allow it as I struggle to have the energy to workout else. I only have these days every two days and if I am doing no carb for my dinner then I will have an apple or orange as a snack too.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 29/11/2020 17:54

If you get a 500g pack of mince and use a jar sauce then split that into 4 portions that's 433 calories without the pasta

Also depends what else is in it, oil used to cook it, cheese on it, how much pasta etc,

Either way the op is defintely eating on average 2000 plus calories a day to maintain fourteen and a half stone. No one is a medical marvel that they can Survive on a thousand calories a day and stay at this weight. It would be falling off her.

Which has sugar in them, right?

I do both. I was doing keto (very low carb) but didn't lose weight but now I do low carb most days and on the days I do have carbs I have a very small amount as I am trying to carb cycle.

I track my carbs on carb manager and calories on myfitnesspal.

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 17:58

Yes which is why I have them on the low carb days so I don't go over.

Cavagirl · 29/11/2020 17:59

OP it's fair enough if you don't like low carb but then you need to be clear what you are doing eg strict calorie counting, with logging and weighing everything. At the moment it sounds like you're a bit haphazard with what diet you're trying to follow which is probably why it isn't working.

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 17:59

I think everyones body is different and some people need alot more calories than others. Even before I started low carb I wouldn't eat over 1200kcals a day as that is what myfitnesspal says I need to lose 1-2lbs per week (obviously not happening).

OP posts:
Cavagirl · 29/11/2020 18:01

Sorry cross-posted OP.
It comes back to then, if you really believe you're correctly calorie counting everything passing your lips and averaging 1000 calories in a week, it's really not possible you've only lost 3lb in 8 months.

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 18:02

I'm not really doing a specific diet. I just try and eat under 1000kcals a day (no more than 1200) and have a small amount of carbs every two days when I do a bigger workout. And then I have a cheat meal every 2 weeks.

Are you counting your exercise calories as a counter balance in MFP?

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2020 18:03

Op to help on the low carb thing,

Here is a typical low carb day

Fried or scrambled Eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Coffee either black or with some cream in it

Tuna or ham salad for lunch, with avocado, onion, salad leaves and low carb Mayo, olive oil if you fancy it on your salad.

Cajun chicken thighs with skin on, broccoli cheese made with cream, and garlic butter mushrooms for dinner,

No pasta, potatoes, fruit, milk, rice, the highest portion of your intake should be fat, the middle protein and the lowest carb.

So if you split your daily intake into three the most amount of anything you eat is fat, hence why you have skin on your chicken, oil on your salad, and butter on your veg,

Carbs you should aim for less than twenty grams a day to start, and remember everything has carbs, even cucumber,

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 18:05

Are you counting your exercise calories as a counter balance in MFP?

No because if you go under the calorie limit it doesn't let you save it so if I included the exercise then it would say I need to eat more before I can save it.

I could probably do more exercise if I am honest but because I do low calorie and I am on my feet all day I am exhausted when I get home.

Op what you’re writing is not physically possible. You can’t be maintaining at 14 and a half stone and eating so little. You would need to see a doctor urgently if this was the case to go down in medical science as a miracle. So it means you weren’t eating 1200 before. And you’re not eating a thousand now.

I’m sorry, but if you want to loose weight, like really want to loose it, then then we need to be honest with you and you need to be honest with yourself.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 18:06

Good point @BIWI

MawkishHawk · 29/11/2020 18:07

On the original question about diet pills, I need to get my weight quickly under a BMI cut off ASAP for medical reasons, so I have ordered some orlistat, you can get it prescribed via online consultation (filling a form in). It’s the fat binder one. You have to eat low fat meals with it or.....consequences! I have known people do really well with it and not have oily sharts so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻! If it doesn’t suit then can just stop it no biggie, I figured it’s worth a try. That and the herbal appetite suppressant pills like hoodia are really the only safe/legal things I believe. No real quick fixes in this game.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 18:09

I don't think op needs apetite supressants tbh.

Op, can you screenshot here yesterday's dinner in mfp?

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 18:12

I’m sorry, but if you want to loose weight, like really want to loose it, then then we need to be honest with you and you need to be honest with yourself

I wouldn't lie to myself and then want to spend money on diet pills and I wouldn't come on a chat forum and lie to a bunch of strangers about what I eat. I am very strict with tracking everything but some people need to eat a lot fewer calories than other people. There are several people who I have read on here who need to eat 1000kcals just to maintain their weight.

I would be asking for diet advice if I hadn't tried every other diet. But I know I need to eat under 1200kcals to maintain my weight and keto didn't work for me but I am more likely to overeat/have bigger portions of carbs than anything else so I am careful of how many I have.

Good luck!! haha

I don't really have much time to go to the toilet at work so I don't think I could risk anything that might need a desperate dash to the toilet! lol.

I am thinking of something that gives me more energy so I can exercise more intensely as my appetite isn't too bad.

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 18:15

We don't think you are lying, OP. We all made some mistakes with our diets and missed bits. No one is jidging, just trying to figure out what's wrong so we can help

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/11/2020 18:17

There are several people who I have read on here who need to eat 1000kcals just to maintain their weight.

There are also way more women who make 6 figure sums in here than there is 6 figure sums jobs. Take everything here, especially these extremes with a pinch of salt. Some stuff here is downright dangerous imho.

Dietpill · 29/11/2020 18:20

Op, can you screenshot here yesterday's dinner in mfp?

I can't screenshot it but I can embarrassingly admit I had 2 mini wraps with peanut butter and half a banana in each (it's amazing I swear!) and I had a large orange, 1x coffee and 1x cup of tea both with milk and sweetner.

Today I have had 1xcoffee, 1xcup of tea and then I made a roast but I just have the chicken, mixed veg and a small amount if gravy.

Hayeahnobut · 29/11/2020 18:20

Amphetamines. They're banned, for good reason.

Do you have cheat days every two days, so every third day you go over your calories?
