Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Slightly better on snack front today- still had a few but just tried to eat a bit more at meal times! Total for today is around 2130, and I’ve burnt around 2400. I know I said I’d be happy maintaining but I’ve decided to aim to be in a deficit of about 250 cals a day average over Jan so I’ll hopefully lose 0.5 lb a week! Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and go back to daily weighing as I haven’t weighed for a while!

Breakfast - Mint mocha and cheese croissant with baked beans
Snack- chai latte
Lunch- leftover veggies and cous cous with a veggie sausage flatbread
Snacks- baked peas snack

Snacks- mini choc muffin, 2 cinnamon palmiers, tunnocks tea cake (this dipped into peppermint tea is heaven)
Dinner- ran out of side salad stuff! Fish, sweet potato fries, carrot and peas
Snack- a few spoonfuls of this ice cream as i just bought it today and I always have to try new stuff as soon as I buy it 🤪 but literally had like 2 spoons and put it away, looking forward to having a proper amount when i have more cals left!

Oooh, I love oppo! I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and I swear it got me through xD

Yesterday!

Missed breakfast because I was up late and then busy

Lunch- salmon, potatoes and asparagus
Snacks- apple and almond butter, carrot sticks and hummus, grapes
Dinner- homemade Chinese beef and broccoli with rice
Then a hot chocolate in my new favourite mug :)

Yes oppo is sooo nice!! think it was my first time trying, I actually ate the whole tub today 😅😅 but i really enjoyed and don’t feel guilty! Had a higher calorie day today and ended in a bit of a surplus (ate around 2420 and only burnt about 2200) but it’s fine as long as everyday isn’t like this 😅 Also forgot to weigh myself this morning! Will maybe start monday!

Breakfast- mint mocha and toast with flora, jam and biscoff spread
Lunch- aldi mozarella filled pasta with peas, pine nuts, olive oil and parmesan
Snack- mini choc muffin microwaved with biscoff spread and squirty cream

Snack- wafer cone with ice cream and biscoff spread
Then i ate the whole tub in lots of little sittings 😅 had biscoff spread with each bowl too, so ended up eating 360 cals of biscoff spread too 😬 But i did enjoy it all and didn’t feel guilty like i would have this time last year!
Dinner- this was actually so nice! Only 500 cals, 6 quorn nuggets, mayflower curry sauce mixture from home bargains and half a pack microwaved jasmine rice! We were supposed to be having chinese takeaway but I didn’t really want to have one after eating the tub of ice cream haha so we had this and DP was actually v happy with this as a takeaway substitute! Also added some cucumber after photo (i love cucumber with the sauce, maybe a bit weird 😅)

Not the healthiest day but I’ll try and balance it out a bit tomorrow, going to try and make a meal plan for tomorrow :)

Mostly tesco or aldi but i get random bits (mostly my non nutritional stuff 😂) from heron foods/b&m/home bargains, like the Oppo ice cream was £1.25 from heron foods and the mini chocolate muffins, I always end up getting something random that I don’t really need 😂

I'm looking for inspiration, i am now going to try lose the 2 and half stone i put on last year. Maybe do calorie counting and kick some habits I have got myself into. I shop aldi and Iceland. Been known to go to heron ect but now the children are off again will find that difficult..I have downloaded my fitness pal and went and bought extra fruit and salad for next week. I need to do this cannot put more weight on this year!

Sounds good @Smile3! I read somewhere about trying to fill half your plate with veggies/salad type stuff and think that’s deff helped me with my meals (although clearly i still need to work on my snacking habits😂)

£1.25 is such a bargain for oppo! Think it’s about £3.50 in Sainsburys. Love the chicken nuggets and curry idea- like a low effort katsu curry!

This was yesterday- need to get better at actually posting it the day I eat it!

Breakfast- raspberries with yoghurt and granola
Lunch- Omelette, potatoes, asparagus and roasted pepper
Dinner- chicken, rice and homemade tzatziki
Snacks- melon, peanut and chocolate cereal bar (forgot to photo this)

Thank you so much for posting @riotlady, i saw your post earlier and it inspired me to make tzatziki for dinner (never made it before!) and it was so lovely and filling and perfect for today as I needed a light dinner, the whole meal ended up only being 270 cals :o but I feel satisfied, i guess because of the greek yoghurt!
Had a much better day today and managed zero snacking! Think having a sweet breakfast helped and then a huge lunch! Have eaten around 1900 cals and burnt about 2600, first big deficit in ages 😅
Breakfast- greek yoghurt with berries with chia seeds mixed in (forgot i had these in the cupboard- so high in fibre and protein!) biscoff spread and crumbled cinnamon biscuits
Large mocha
Lunch- aldi brie, cranberry and mushroom parcel with peas, carrots, aunt bessie roasts, 4 yorkshires (2 not pictured 🤪) and gravy - this added up to 1100 cals hence my very low cal dinner!
Dinner- richmond veggie sausages, tzatzaki, pepper, tomatoes and salad

I may have a cacao latte later if I’m hungry again!

Also think I might start recording my daily weight on here too if that’s ok, just for personal motivation as I would really like to reach 8stone 4 at some point and think I just need a bit of motivation to keep off the snacks! Today I was 8stone 13.4, 9.6 lb to go!

Oops i forgot to attach the photos! I also had a teaspoon of maple syrup with my yoghurt, only 13 cals and makes it so much nicer! And mixed some cinnamon in!
Love the idea of having it with granola, I’m so bad at controlling myself with nice cereal/granola but may try and make/buy a small portion!

I had been losing weight consistently since the end of November, but it's slowed down over Christmas so I wanted to try and get back on it today! I've finally got around to taking photos, today's food:
Breakfast: Smoothie made of Greek yoghurt, strawberries, oats, chia seeds, protein powder, spinach and almond milk- this was surprisingly filling. Lunch: Homemade soup plus chicken sausages, onions and cherry tomatoes plus a bag of lentil curls. Dinner: Baked potato, chilli con carne, broccoli plus two mozzarella sticks which I ate whilst waiting for the rest of the food to cook! Desert was Greek yoghurt with cooked apple plus biscoff spread and a crumbled biscoff biscuit with mixed nuts - I'd never tried biscoff spread before reading this thread @Friedbanana so thanks for the inspiration!

Snacks: Salted pop chips, a choco leibniz biscuit, plus an almond milk coffee with caramel syrup and a teaspoon of Options white hot chocolate.
Did the Joe Wicks workout for the first time with my three year old 🥵 and went for a walk so burnt 1679 calories but ate 1646 so only a small deficit but at least it's a deficit!

Today was: B: Greek yogurt with banana. L: salmon salad sandwich D: lentil ragu pasta with salad..Snacks: apple with cinnamon and greek yoghurt. Lots of teas and coffees, I should probably start counting the calories in those drinks,.the milk must add up.. download MFP today.

Yay hello @raspberrypickle, yes exactly a deficit is a deficit and is better than a surplus! Well done for getting back on it! And yaaay i hope you love the biscoff spread as much as me 😂

That smoothie sounds lovely, I love spinach/berry combination in smoothies! I also had a smoothie for breakfast today, sometimes i just forget how nice smoothies are and don’t have them for months! But it was so good and basically like a chocolate pudding for breakfast! I wrote down the recipe earlier so will share in case anyone interested 😂 70g frozen banana, 15g oats, splash of water, 15g unsweetened cocoa powder, 25g protein powder (mine is PHD diet whey banana flavour but any would work, or would be fine without), 10g peanut butter powder but I think i’ll try without next time as I’m not sure it really added anything, 10g chia seeds for extra fibre/protein but it would be nice without too, and 1 date for sweetness (could sub for maple syrup/honey/tsp sugar)
Topped with more chia seeds, broken up cinnamon biscuits, sweet freedom choc shot and coconut flakes! Managed to satisfy my sweet tooth today I think! (without the toppings and without the peanut butter powder it would come to 320 cals and 25g protein :) )
Snack- gingerbread cappuccino
Late lunch- veggie sausage, egg and cheese bun with polenta fries and baked beans
Snack as I was starving between zoom calls- cinnamon fibre one bar
Late dinner- chicken tikka kebabs (just mixed 150g greek yoghurt and 2tbs pataks madras paste for the marinade for 650g chicken, marinated for a couple hours then grilled, very yummy!), rice and pepper, tomato, red onion and cucumber blitzed in food processor! also had some mango chutney, light mayo and yoghurt on side

@pontiouspilates I think i deff underestimate my milk 😅 normally estimate 100mls in my fitness pal but i bet some days it’s more like 200mls 😅
Really need to buy some apples as everyone’s apple puddings/breakfasts sound yum!

Also thought i’d share in case anyone similarly gets disappointed if their weight goes up after a good day.. i was expecting my weight to have gone down today with my deficit yesterday so a bit sad that it had gone up 0.8 lb to 9st 0.2 this morning, but just have to remember weight fluctuates a lot day to day!

Ate about 2300 cals today and burnt around 2700 :)
