Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

@Faith50 Sorry just saw that @Sillybilly35 had already replied.. also meant to say you're not being dim, I've only recently understood how this all works!

Faith50 · 24/02/2021 12:39

rasberry and sillybilly

Thanks for the info. I will have a look at the website as you have suggested.

Faith50 · 24/02/2021 12:47

My BMR is 1389. Do I add any exercise to this number?

FatCatThinCat · 24/02/2021 15:12

Well done on the weight loss @Sillybilly35

I'm not too hot on taking pictures at the moment as I can't face wrestling my phone off my autistic 7 year old.

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: buttermilk, cheerios and mango

Midmorning: an apple and a banana

Lunch: chicken and pasta salad

Mid afternoon: buttermilk, strawberries and slightly over roasted oats.

Dinner: macaroni cheese and salad (no pic)

Late snack: 2 bendict's mints (no pic)

That first pic is blurry because my 7 year old took it. I wasn't pissed at breakfast. Honest!

@Faith50

My BMR is 1389. Do I add any exercise to this number?
So the way I think of it is if you have a very sedentary day you will burn that number of calories (1389), so if you have a sedentary day and eat 1500 calories you will end up in a calorie surplus. If you have a sedentary day and eat 1200 calories, for example, you will end up with a bit of a deficit. If your app or tracker tells you that you've burnt 2000 calories for the day you can roughly estimate that 700ish of those were from exercise and the remaining 1300 were your BMR calories. I hope that makes sense?!

Dinner: three potato waffles, peas, carrots and Quorn fish (600)

Friedbanana · 24/02/2021 23:12

Hey! Yes not gaining is a start definitely @canipressthebackbuttonplease!!
I did end up going on a run last night, it was 5k so burnt around 300cals I still ended up in about a 200 cal surplus! I’m also in a small surplus today ( about 230) but again I’m just happy I haven’t binged, I enjoyed all my food instead of feeling guilty, and I waited till 12 to eat so hopefully a good start, obviously I can’t continue like this though haha as I’ll slowly put all the weight back on!

Breakfast- large cinnamon latte
Lunch- vegan black pudding , cheese and sundried tomato quesadilla
Pudding- the other carrot cake muffin from yesterday, custard, spreads and apple, berries
Dinner- 1/2 a pizza
Evening snacks (no pics) - 1 tunnocks tea cake, 1 oat and raisin cookie, small chai latte, slice of banana cake

Eaten about 2330 cal and burnt around 2100! Hopefully tomorrow I can manage a deficit to cancel these few days out!

Hi guys, hope you're all well!

Today I did my 5 miles walk and a short HIIT and Pilates work out, but I ate too much. About 2200 calories. I just felt drained and very hungry and quite emotional today which a recipe for eating junk, even when I'm not hungry. I felt quite bad about this as I haven't been doing very well weight loss wise, but it still helps posting here. I'd have had chocolate milkshake every day otherwise lol (today I had yazoo milkshake)

Breakfast: Belvita breakfast biscuits, slice of bread (350)
Lunch: Two packets of sunbite crisps, 5 low calorie breadsticks and butternut squash soup (600)
Snacks: chocolate (100). Also three Quorn scotch eggs (150)
Dinner: New potatoes, broccoli, green beans and vegan schitzel (600)
Drinks: Mocha (100), yazoo chocolate milkshake (250)

I did ok yesterday morning. Then came over all faint and awful whole walking so got a chocolate nut bar in shop which was 220 calories...then a Chinese for dinner (only had half a veggie chow mein, no sides) but those were enough to bump me over my calories.

Friedbanana · 26/02/2021 19:19

Hello everyone! @FedNlanders hope you’re feeling better after feeling faint!
Forgot to post yesterday, I didn’t count cals but here’s what I ate!
Breakfast- latte
Lunch- mocha and veggie sausage bun
Dinner- chicken gyros and about 6 of DPs chips
Snack- banana cake, custard and goji berries and raisins and a chai latte :)

Not counted calories today either. Trying just doing intuitive eating, eating when hungry till I’m full, if I have an urge for a snack, having it, and hoping that stops my binges, it’s working so far :) and still running so hopefully I’m not in too much of a surplus (haven’t weighed as a bit scared of water weight but will check weight in a week or so maybe and just check I’m maintaining rather than gaining)
Breakfast- cinnamon latte
Lunch- vegan black pudding, cheese and egg bun
Pudding- apple, spread, custard, yoghurt, berries, banana cake heated up, almond butter
Snack- oreo egg, biscoff cream biscuit, small chai latte
Dinner- cauliflower cheese and peas, quorn southern fried bites, sweet pot fries, gravy

Hope everyone is doing well! :)

Hello everyone! :) have been absent for a few days as had a flare up of chronic illness and couldn’t be bothered tracking. Fortunately still lost 0.5lbs in my weigh in day yesterday. Anyway I’m feeling a bit better today so back on it!

Today (no picture)
Breakfast- Raspberries, yoghurt and a peanut protein cereal bar
Lunch- Bean burger
Snacks- 2x fibre brownies
Dinner- Boiled egg and soldiers

@Faith50 your BMR is literally the base amount of calories you need to keep your body functioning if you didn’t move all day. Even if you have a relatively sedentary day, you will burn more than that- I believe the calculation is your BMR x 1.2, or you can find calculators online, it’s called your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE)

FatCatThinCat · 27/02/2021 08:41

I've been absent too and have no pictures. But I weighed in at 113.2 kg which means I lost 0.8 kg. Which is great considering how bad I was at the start of the wek. It may also just be my dodgy scales which have a habit of being creative with their readings.

Faith50 · 27/02/2021 11:24

Thanks for the info

riotlady · 27/02/2021 20:26

No pics, still feeling rubbish! Have only eaten easy stuff

Breakfast- pancakes with raspberry jam
Lunch- mac and cheese
Snack- marshmallow bar
Dinner- Boiled egg and soldiers

canipressthebackbuttonplease · 27/02/2021 21:26

Hi everyone!! Well done on your achievements!

I didn't post yesterday partly because my diet was a complete disaster and I was embarrassed. I had about 2500 calories (300 of that was from wine...) and walked five miles.

Today has been much the same, but I thought I would be more accountable today.

Breakfast: leftover curry and naan (about 600)
Snacks: kit kat chunky (200),some Doritos (100)
Lunch: five Quorn scotch eggs and bruscetta (maybe 600)
Dinner: pizza (not entirely sure but a lot!)
Drinks: half a bottle of wine (300)

But for what it's worth, I walked 12 miles!!

I think I struggle more in the last year because it feels like the only thing to look forward to is food.

Hi everyone,
Sorry this week has been busy and I’ve not posted, I’m going to try and get back on track this week!
@canipressthebackbuttonplease I know what you mean about lockdown and looking forward to eating, although I think lockdown has made it easier to get out of the habit of spontaneous eating whilst I'm out and about. Also I've found it helpful that I'm not going to other people's homes for meals so I can completely control what I'm eating.
Today’s food:
B: 2x croissants; Nescafé skinny decaf sachet;
Mid-day Snack/ lunch: Smoothie; Dairylea dunker; small portion of nuts;
Afternoon snack: small portion of pop chips;
Dinner: Homemade beef pie and broccoli;
Dessert: Creme egg
I’ve been for a walk and a run today.

Calories eaten: 1753 approx as I had to estimate for the pie, this might go up a bit as I’ll probably have a snack before bed.
Calories burnt will be around 2000 by the end of the evening.
Hope you’ve all had nice weekends!

canipressthebackbuttonplease · 01/03/2021 18:47

Hi guys!
Hope you're all well.
@raspberrypickle I'm glad you understand what I mean! Your pie looked lovely.

Had a bit of a lapse at the weekend, suffice to say. One success is that I bought a chocolate frozen drink from a cafe yesterday but didn't like it much - previously I'd have drank it regardless as it's chocolate but I decided it wasn't worth the calories, so didn't bother.

Today I've eaten the below:

Breakfast: three lemon and raisin pancakes (300)
Snack: Cucumber and tzakiki (100), Graze nuts (150), some celery (10)
Lunch: John west tuna salad (250), half a bread roll (100)
Snack: Club bar (125), madeleine cake (125)
Dinner: Jamaican patty, rice, brocolli, sweetcorn and peas (700)

That totals about 1850, I hope I don't eat anything after dinner but I will no doubt be tempted. I did manage to not drink any mochas today which is good. I also walked 5.5 miles (two separate walks) and did a 25 minute HIIT routine. Weight this evening: 122.6lbs
