Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

@raspberrypickle Happy birthday!

@FriedbananaThank you for the reassurance, not patronising at all :) I'm sorry you've had a bad couple days but to quote Aristotle (I think), 'we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.' So your habit is to eat well most of the time!!

@FatCatThinCat I totally get what you mean about being tired, if we don't get an energy boost from sleep we look elsewhere! It's tough isn't it. I hope you get a bit more sleep soon!

Breakfast: I didn't eat until 11 when I had a whole naan bread from my takeaway last night and little lemon cake.
Lunch: a quarter of my boyfriend's naan and leftover mushroom masala and paneer
Snack: a quarter of a fudge biscuit Easter egg from Lidl, I would recommend it! Also a handful of chilli and lemon crisps
Dinner: Half a pesto and vegetable pizza from Asda and five Quorn chicken nuggets
Drinks: latte

I actually went for three walks today!! So ended up doing 7.5 miles which is good. I didn't count calories today because I just wasn't sure what the leftovers had in them but suffice to say I've consumed a fair few over the weekend.

Lots of healthy dinners lined up for this week though.

Lunch- McDonald’s Fillet o fish, medium fries and a mini smartie McFlurry (not pictured)
Dinner- Salmon, brown rice, roasted pepper and onion and tzatziki

Today is much better than yesterday. I've had:

Breakfast: toast and ginger jam

Midmorning: Breakfast

Lunch: chorizo and rice stew from yesterday

Mid afternoon: tinned peaches and quark (I think that's what it's called in English. Kvarg in Swedish)

Dinner: rice noodle and prawn soup, which was bloody lovely.

I've also had an apple and a banana

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all the birthday wishes, I had a lovely weekend, eating nice food and not weighing anything or counting calories- it felt like a real treat to just eat and put the scales away! Back to it today though, does anyone else feel like they have to really make an effort to put their mind back into healthy eating mode after a few days off?!
Weigh in today, only a small loss this week but as I said, I had quite an indulgent weekend.
Today’s food:
B: A pancake (made of oats, egg and banana) with Greek yoghurt, maple syrup and blueberries
L: Homemade soup; lentil curls;
Snack: One piece of chocolate rice Krispy traybake (this was my birthday cake); 2x squares of Lindt; 20g chocolate covered peanuts;
Drink: Mocha;
D: Vegetable quarter pounder with flatbread, rice,halloumi and salad; glass of rose lemonade;
I’ve felt exhausted today so I haven’t done any exercise - I managed to do 10,000+ steps, 4 days in a row last week and finally completed C25k Wk 8 run 1 at the weekend so I feel ok about having a day off.
Calories eaten: Approx 1600 - I had to estimate for the Rice Krispy cake
Calories burnt will be around 1400.

Strange breakfast today: A little lemon and raisin pancake, some rice and feta (350 calories). I had to use the feta or it was going to get wasted!
Lunch: Carrot and coriander soup (250 calories), thick slice of seeded bread (150), a cracker (50)
Snack: Four Oreos (200 calories), a cracker (50) and two hob nobs (180 calories)
Dinner: pasta bake and salad (700)
Drinks: mocha (100 calories), coffee, Dr Pepper zero

I weighed myself today and was 125.6 lbs, this time last week it was 122.2 lbs. I hope it's hormone related and water weight because otherwise I'll be quite disappointed lol.

I've eaten about 2000 calories and walked 8 miles, my watch says I've burnt about 1900

Glad you had a good birthday @raspberrypickle!!
Oo will have to try biscoff roll ups they look amazing!! Yes I’m sure it’ll just be water weight @canipressthebackbuttonplease but it’s really annoying when that happens!
So I need semla and also Swedish waffles in my life I think!!
Here was yesterday’s food- I was so hungry at bed time even though I was in a surplus, think it was because I didn’t wait till 12 to eat, and I guess I did have lots of white carbs, may try having more wholegrains! Also need to cut down on cafe hot drinks- whenever I meet a friend for a morning walk I end up getting one, but I also make my own so end up having excessive amounts!

Breakfast- gingerbread latte,
Vegan black pudding, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, bun and 1 veggie sausage
Lunch- cafe take out - white choc mocha and half a slice choc banana bread
Snack- mousse and 1/3rd biscoff cream cookie, 5g gingernut butter, 5g protein Nutella, 5g goji berries
Dinner- quorn nugs, curry sauce, sticky rice
Snack- tikka chicken, celery, carrots, beetroot, greek yoghurt
2x Chai latte, 2x biscoff cream cookie (so this photo x 2 as as soon as I finished I wanted more!)
Tiny bit chocolate, maybe 5g but I didn’t weigh it

Around 2650 eaten, and around 2470 burnt- surplus 180 cals!

OP posts:
Friedbanana · 23/02/2021 08:56

Also a tiny bit mango chutney with evening snack

Well done @Sillybilly35 that’s amazing!
I haven’t had the best day but no binging :) been starving tonight even though I’m in a surplus again, like I’m as hungry as I was sometimes when I was in a 1000 cal deficit?! So weird! I think it’s like @raspberrypickle said, it’s really hard to get back to it after eating more for a few days!
I again didn’t wait till 12 to eat, so think that is part of the problem. I’m reeeeaaally going to try waiting tomorrow as I just hate being hungry going to bed! Sleep was crap last night too!
Anyway here is my food:
Breakfast - 3 x small lattes/mochas (lol ‘cutting down on hot drinks’)
2x biscoff cream, 20g gingernut butter
Lunch- quesadilla with vegan black pudding, cheese and sundried tomatoes

Pudding- apple cinnamon, biscoff, almond butter, yoghurt, goji berries, blueberries , raisins, honey
Second pudding- carrot cake muffin
Third pudding- 200g alpro custard (no photo)
Fourth pudding- stuffed date, 10g proteinella , more biscoff
Dinner- I skipped the bun due to all the above, but really enjoyed a nice burger bowl, salad bits with vegan burger topped with melted cheese, calorific dressing and crispy onions, was actually very yummy!

I’ve eaten around 2550 cals and only burnt 2075 however I’m going to go on a run, will trrrryy a 10k so that I finish in a bit of a surplus, but realistically I’m prob too tired and I’ll stop after 1 5km lap, we shall see! Might have to have some spread before I go as currently got no energy 🤪

Sillybilly and Rasberrypickle
This may seem like a silly question but how do you calculate the number of calories you have burnt each day? You must do an obscene amount of exercise to burn nearly 2000 calories.

I am confused (and probably a bit dim).

Your advice would be most helpful.

Sillybilly35 · 24/02/2021 08:33

@Friedbanana, thanks. Your food looks so good from yesterday, that's burger bowl looks delicious.
@Faith50
Hi. It's not a silly question at all. Google BMR calculator to get your number then plus the calories burned from activity to get your total calories burned for the day.
Your BMR is basically what your body burns for just been alive, so keeping your vital organs working ect...

Hi, The total calories burnt includes the calories your body burns just from keeping you alive, if you do a google search for BMR calculator you can calculate yours. I use the Fitbit app which calculates my total calories for the day.. I hope that helps!
