Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Hi everyone,
I meant to say yesterday @Friedbanana I’m sorry you were having anxiety, it’s such a horrible feeling, hope you’ve had a better day today.
Today’s food:
B: Smoothie
Snack: Pop chips
L: 2x chicken sausages, cherry tomatoes and spinach in a wrap; lentil curls; 2 squares of Lindt;
Snack: A few chocolate buttons
Dinner: Spaghetti and Courgetti bolognese with small portion of cheese
Dessert: Cooked apples with cinnamon; Custard; Biscoff spread; 1x biscoff biscuit; 10g dark chocolate chips;

Managed to do 7,700 steps today, I did two short walks, it’s freezing here and I wasn’t made for cold weather 🥶

Calories eaten will be about 1900 by the end of the day, calories burnt will be about the same so no deficit today but I'm blaming the weather as I've just wanted to eat everything in sight today 🥴

Hahah @riotlady i looove how you had snow and maple syrup! Are you buddy from elf?! Looks pretty good! I won’t try as our snow doesn’t look that appetising, but glad you finally tried it!!

Sorry for bad photos today! phone camera bad at focusing atm! Ate quite a few snacks as i was fully intending to do another 10k tonight so thought i had loads of calories to play with, but i’ve had second thoughts as it’s hailing currently :( so have ended up in a bit of a surplus but nevermind!
Breakfast- 2 x cinnamon latte
Lunch- kale and quinoa burger and vegan sausage, egg and cheese flatbread
Snacks- half kinder bueno, microwaved chickpea blondie, frozen berries, yoghurt, microwaved fibre one bar, 15g goji berries, 15g fake lindt, un-named spread 😉, tiniest bit of vegan choc brownie ben and jerry’s
Dinner- sweet pot and bean chilli, brown rice, cheese, yoghurt

just under 2300 cals eaten and 2100 burnt!

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: toast and ginger jam (no picture)

Mid morning: banana (no picture)

Lunch: pork in pepper sauce with roast veggies

Mid afternoon: banana icecream, caramelised apple and biscoff.

Dinner: roast chicken in a sourdough roll plus an extra dry roll.

Had a shake for breakfast, vegetarian sausage roll for dinner, homemade flapjack for a snack then chippy tea no pic of that as I was like a dog who had never been fed Blush was curry and chips done half hour dog walk. Burnt 2100 eaten 1600.

Hi everyone.

D - toad in the hole with veg and gravy. 738 cals
S - blueberry muffin, crisp and chocolate, apple and grapes. About 1000 cals
After going on cross trainer I had a banana, peach pot and bell pepper, glass of water then a glass of squash. 137 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 600 ml squash, pepsi max can, milky coffee. 119 cals

Calories eaten - 1994
Calories burned - 2954
Calorie deficit - 960

Not such a good day today, was stressed about a uni deadline and kept munching! Interestingly I had a lot more refined carbs than usual- I try and stick to brown rice and bread- and despite eating more I noticed I was definitely hungrier today than I usually am. On the bright side, I got a lot of work done!

Breakfast- Two slices white bread and butter
Lunch- Tuna rice
Snacks- 7 Bourbon biscuits, small bar of chocolate, fibre brownie (no pics of these as I was munching and typing lol)
Dinner- Chicken and sweet corn soup and garlic bread

Helloo! yum jealous of chippy @Smile3! And toad in the hole looks amazing @Sillybilly35!! @riotlady you are certainly allowed to eat all the foods for uni deadlines!! i actually don’t think cals count on those days?

Food today:
Breakfast- white choc mint mocha

11am Lunch (after 5k run)- leftover chilli and cheese in a flatbread with salad and brown rice

Snack- small oat milk mocha and half a slice of vegan choc banana bread from a takeout cafe- estimated 370cals for both of these, no photo

2nd lunch- quorn nugs, teriyaki sauce and sticky rice

Dinner- quorn escalope, veggies, sweet pot fries and gravy

Evening snack- small oat milk chai latte, 1 gingerbread thin and 5g spread

Eaten about 2320 cals but did 31k steps including the run as i had morning off so went on a long walk too, so have burnt 3050 cals :)

Late to the party again. Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: toast and ginger jam (no pic)

Midmorning: banana (no pic)

Lunch: Sourdough roll with salad and roast chicken breast

Mid afternoon: breakfast wafers with biscoff and banana

Dinner: Thai style blue muscles with a sourdough roll. Bloody lovely. 7 year old DS practically licked his bowl clean.

@riotlady you chicken soup and garlic bread looks delicious.

@Friedbanana wow well done on those steps. I'm struggling getting out at the moment as weather is poor and with 3 children moaning it's not enjoyable. So dh had been putting the children to bed and I go for a dog walk so can get some steps in.

T - pork steaks, veg, stuffing with gravy.
S - 6 sweets, freddo chocolate, about 75g of fries.

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 600 ml squash, pepsi max can, cup of tea.

Much better day today! :)

Brunch- Omelette, baby potatoes, pepper and onion
Snacks- Kiwi, apple with almond butter
Dinner- Chicken noodle stir fry
Dessert- Mixed berries, fibre brownie, yoghurt and marshmallow spread (New discovery, 25cals for a tablespoon!)

@Smile3 i deff wouldn’t get nearly as many steps/activity if i had one child let alone 3, must be so hard getting out! but good you can in evenings :)

Food tiday:
Breakfast- large mint mocha

Lunch- strong roots kale and quinoa burger (v good- recommend!)

Snack- microwaved chickpea blondie, 10 gram spread, yoghurt, gingerbread thin , decaf gingerbread latte

Dinner- takeaway! had chicken tikka starter, tarka dall, onion bhaji, half a veggie styffed paratha, managed to stick to one plate and hakf of everything so will have this again for tomorriw dinner :) paratha was yum but very oily, i’ve estimated 1250 cals for this plate

Snack- chai latte

About 2400 eaten and about same amount burnt (18k steps including a 5k run)

Hi everyone,
Sorry I’ve not posted for a couple of days but I’m back on it now..
Yesterday’s food:
B: Scrambled egg; Banana;
Snack: pop chips 40g approx
1x coffee with teaspoon of sugar to warm up after a walk
L: 150g baked beans with 2 chicken frankfurters; slice of toast;
Snack: lentil curls; 20g Lindt;
Dinner: Chilli, baked potato, creme fraiche, cheese;
Dessert: Small slice of my daughter’s birthday cake.

Calories eaten: 1695 approx as I had to estimate for the cake
Calories burnt: 1945

Also just wanted to say, I completed week 7 run 3 of the couch to 5k on Wednesday, I wasn’t going to run at all but the weather seemed a bit milder than the day before so I thought I’d give it a try, I managed to run for 31 minutes! (Very, very slowly, there were snails gliding past me as I ran!) I’m not saying this to brag, I just want to encourage others who are very much on the couch as I was at the start of the programme. If I can do it, anyone can!

That’s amazing @raspberrypickle well done!! and you’re totally right, anyone can do it! i got quite into running last year, but before that i found it so hard to run even 5 mins straight and was so so slow, had to run/walk etc , I’d even done the couch to 5k previous years and gave up before the end of the programme! but last lockdown i did it again and properly committed and now as long as i don’t leave it tooo long between runs i find it really fine, but i was honestly so so so unfit before and i’m genuinely amazed how i can now do it, so yes anyone can do it definitely, as long as you commit to doing it regularly! i even think the other day i might have experienced the ‘runners high’- always thought this was complete bullshit haha but think it does exist in case that motivates anyone to keep going too!! I also never mean to sound braggy in my posts, really hope it doesn’t come across like that 😅
Also just wanted to say raspberry that your posts about your runs were genuinely what inspired me to start running again this year and i’m so glad i did as feel a lot better mental health wise/energy wise so thank you v much again!!!

Congrats on your run @raspberrypickle! I’ve done C25k before and some of those longer runs at the end are so intimidating!!

Breakfast- Banana and mixed berry smoothie
Lunch- Miso soup with wholewheat noodles, mangetout, spring onion, shredded chicken and a poached egg (this was amazing! Calculated as about 450 cals)
Snacks- Fibre brownie, mini chocolate bar
Dinner- Veggie burger with cheese
