Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

I ended up going for a 5k run yay, so burnt 2430 cals and done 18400 steps :) It was raining so I almost didn’t go, but I wore my waterproof running jacket (that I bought 2 years ago in hope it would get me into winter running, then wore about 3 times 🤪) which kept me warm and dry as it has a very snug hood (which DP kindly pointed out makes me look like an alien/futuristic nun) Actually really enjoyed the run, felt a bit easier this time!

Didn’t fancy a protein hot choc so I made a little protein pudding, it was nice! 120g greek yoghurt, 8g protein powder mixed in and some cinnamon, topped with 5g goji berries, 5g sweet freedom choc shot brownie, just over half a gingerbread thin biscuit- 125 cals

Eaten around 1951 cals so just under a 500 cal deficit :)

Morning everyone, if not been keeping track I have been ill not covid apparently but I swear iv never been so bad my chest is so tight and have a terrible cough. Going to go for a walk with the kiddies later probs been about a week since I have left the house Shock anyway onwards and upwards hopefully.

@FatCatThinCat your poached eggs always look a perfect shape!

I do them in the microwave. 1 dl of cold water in a bowl, add the egg, 1 minute on full power, job done.

Yesterday was a difficult day for me. Lots going on so I forgot some of the photos and to post what I had done, again.

Breakfast: toast and ginger jam. This is my go to when life gets in the way.

Mid morning: banana, no photo

Lunch: Smoked salmon and poached eggs, same as night before

Mid afternoon: breakfast wafers with nutella and banana

Second mid afternoon: more of the same as I was so hungry and they were so good.

Dinner: pork in pepper sauce with roast vegestables. No photo from last night but will be having it for lunch today too.

I hate you all. Autistic DS is now in tizz as I won't let him sit on the sofa with the jar and a spoon. Grin

It's doesn't look that big in the picture but it takes two hands to lift it it's so big. I'm going to have to eat quite a bit just so I can lift it up onto the shelf in the pantry.

Mid afternoon: biscoff on toast. Very tasty but a bit melty. By the time I'd finished it was all over my hands and down my top.

Dinner: Salmon, danish rye bread and poached eggs. Last outing for a while as that's the end of the hollandaise sauce,

Can I post without the photos today as I’ve just come across this. I’m doing 16/8 so I didn’t eat until lunch when I had a slice of frittata, a prawn salad, a satsuma, fun sized twin and snack pack of cashews. Dinner was a homemade egg McMuffin. I have had a couple of individual chicken breasts too.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. I've had a few days of been relaxed with calories. I had Chinese the other night and last night had pizza also I didn't take any photos. We (my son and I) had cottage pie this dinner time about 1pm then I ended up having what was left for my tea.

D - cottage pie, cabbage, broccoli and gravy. 584 cals
T - cottage pie, veg and gravy. 589 cals
S- peach slices in juice, fries - 50g. 238 cals (forgot to take photo)

Drinks - 1 coffee, 900 ml squash, 2 cans of pepsi max. 49 cals

Calories eaten - 1460
Calories burned - 2719
Calorie deficit - 1259

Not eaten a lot today had toast and peanut butter this morn and Peri chicken, sweet pot fries and corn waiting for a food delivery up to now iv eaten 750cals burnt 1600..
Haha I am not going down the biscoff route o saw some on the shelf in local shop and thought no no no I'd be eating far too much of it! Grin

Oh golly @FatCatThinCat i feel bad for encouraging the big jar 😅 I do find if i have more in the house, I eat less as I don’t feel like it’s a limited supply and I must eat now or never! Ahh maybe too much on the toast? I tend to put about a teaspoon (5g) on each slice then also have it with ginger jam, or peanut butter or almond butter, i love the combos best! And obv less runny as only a thin spread! I find you really don’t need much to give a good flavour!!

Food today:
Breakfast- peppermint mocha

Lunch- smoked salmon and philly flatbread with salad, and I had to try @FatCatThinCat’s microwave egg method!!! What an amazing life hack!! Didn’t get timing quite right so will have to experiment, was lovely though- I’m often put off poached eggs by the hassle so this saves that!

Pudding- microwave apple, 10g biscodf, 10g almond butter, greek yoghurt and 10g goji berries and ginger thin

Snack- small stuffed date and cinnamon almond milk coffee

Dinner- greek takeaway chicken gyrus- yummmm i’m so glad i had this! Had chips in too so I’m estimating 1050 cals to be on safe side! Honestly, since the age of 16, all those years restricting them overeating, when confronted with the greek takeaway menu, i would 100% of the time gone for a salad, as chips and fried bread i thought were too ‘unhealthy’ and ‘bad’. but I’m so glad i’ve changed this mindset. This morning i was 8st11, which is the lightest i’ve been for the majority of that time (barring a period of bulimia and extended and incredibly unhealthy fasting with zero energy and always feeling faint when i was a teen)

I know i’ve said this before, but thought I’d say again! I would have enjoyed so many occasions a lot more had I realised all this sooner!

Also had some extra salad/ chopped raw veggies with dinner :)

Around 2360 cals burnt by end of today, 15k steps including a 5k run, and around 1930 cals eaten so deficit of about 430 cals :)

Breakfast- Half a bagel with cream cheese and bacon
Lunch- Pesto pasta and asparagus (forgot to take a pic)
Snacks- Melon, apple with almond butter
Dinner- Baked potato with chilli, cheese and salad

@Friedbanana that food looks so good! I'm having take-away regret, I think I'm going to suggest we get Greek food next time 🤤 Also so good that you're able to enjoy eating and not feel restricted!
Sorry I didn’t post yesterday, I had an unexpected deadline to meet so it ended up being a busy day, I ate around 1900 calories and burnt 1960.
Today’s food:
Breakfast: Banana then after nursery drop off a
Smoothie using strawberries and raspberries plus other usual ingredients.

  • Nescafé mocha sachet Lunch: Wrap with 4 slices of pepperoni, spinach and garlic sauce
    Plus quinoa chips and lentil curls + 25g dark chocolate

Dinner: We went to view a house this evening and by the time we’d finished it was dinner time so we had an unplanned chip shop dinner- scampi and chips (no photo) - I weighed out the food and it came 630 calories approx so I feel ok with that.
Dessert: 8 (?) mini eggs 😌
I’m still feeling quite hungry so I’ll probably have a snack before bed.
I’ve not been very active today as I’ve been stuck in front of a laptop,
Calories eaten: 1800 approx as I had to estimate the scampi and chips
Calories burnt will be approximately 1700 by the end of the day.
Back to more of a normal routine and better eating tomorrow.

In revenge/thanks for introducing me to biscoff I give you: Banana 'Icecream' with caralised apple and melted biscoff. I think it may be the nicest thing I've ever eaten.

Banana 'icecream': freeze ripe banana. Peel it and whiz it in the blender with 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. At first it looks like weird mashed banana lumps, but keep whizzing and the consistency changes to like the creamiest ice cream ever. And it's guiltless as it's just banana.

T - pork loin with salad, mayo and sweet chilli sauce. 835 cals
S- toffee cream meringues, 10g of biscoff. 3 sweets. 319 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 900 ml squash. 59 cals

Calories eaten - 1852
Calories burned - 2799
Calorie deficit - 947

Oh my goodness @FatCatThinCat, i tried the banana ice cream and you’re right it’s amazing!!! wasn’t expecting that consistency from just a banana!! May start having that everyday lol.. please keep your life hacks coming!!

Food today:
Breakfast- peppermint mocha

Mid morning- small oat milk chai latte from a takeout cafe- estimating 170cals

Lunch- smoked salmon and philadelphia flatbread, egg and salad

Pudding- usual microwave apple, biscoff etc.!

Dinner- teriyaki salmon, edamame beans, sugar snap peas and sticky rice

Pudding- banana ice cream and 11g melted biscoff

Will have a decaff cinnamon latte i think later, only 29 cals with almond milk :)

Around 1830 cals eaten
Around 2400 burnt
19200 steps but will potter about/tidy a bit before bed to get 20k :)
