Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Well done @Sillybilly35 that’s almost a stone!
I tried to be a bit more active yesterday, went for a walk and then discovered high step count workout videos on YouTube so managed to get up to 12,000 steps by the end of the day. I think now I’ve found these I’m going to aim for 15,000 steps per day if I can - writing this here so that I actually do it!
Yesterday’s food:
B: porridge with banana, chia seeds, blueberries, nuts, a tablespoon of maple syrup and 10g dark chocolate chips
L: Homemade Meat pie - we accidentally used turkey mince but it turned out quite well! With mashed potato and broccoli, no photo as I ate it before I remembered!
Afternoon Snack: 3 x squares of Lindt,
I kind of forgot to eat dinner as we had lunch quite late
Evening snacks: 20g lentil chips; 20g popcorn; 2x cooked apples with Greek yoghurt; 11g biscoff, 10g nuts
Calories eaten: 1684
Calories burnt: 2175
Deficit: 491

Had such a crap day today. I'd usually stuff my face with food and just comfort eat but I'm trying not to do that.

@whyarewealwaysmuddy ahh sounds stressful! hope it settles down soon and sounds like you didn’t go at all overboard with the food considering!!

@raspberrypickle high step count workout sound great!! such a good idea when it’s crap outside! your porridge looks yummy!

@Sillybilly35 wow that’s amazing!! 12lb in a month and in a sustainable way, really well done!! Sorry to hear you’ve had such a crap day :( i hope you are ok, and hopefully tomorrow is better!!

Food today:
Breakfast- gingerbread latte oat milk

Mid morning- takeout mocha with oat milk and half a blondie from a cafe (i definitely enjoyed this just as much as if i’d had a full blondie, but 190ish cals instead of 380cals! wish I could bake lovely things and just have a tiny bit each day but i just don’t have the willpower!)

Lunch- sausage sandwich

Snack- berry protein bar microwaves with biscoff and frozen berries

Snack- 35g lindt (had a little bit each time i had a break between zoom calls, deff helps me get through!)

Dinner- fried banana bagel, lots of biscoff and peanut butter :)

about 1800 cals altogether, not sure how much i’ll have burnt as i need to take dog out now but not sure how long the walk will be! Going to aim for 2400cals burnt but not sure i’ll manage!

Still really hungry, haven’t had much fresh stuff today, may have an apple and yoghurt later!

protein bar was bigger than this but I’d already eaten a bit!

Also remembered I ate a bit extra last night after posting- 3g white choc, 7g biscoff spread and an almond milk cacao latte so only about 80 extra cals , so ended up eating 2600 cals and burning 2940 cals with 31k steps- my little toe hurt a little last night from so much walking 😅

@Friedbanana - yes exactly, sometimes I just can’t face going out in the evenings when it’s dark and cold so I'm so pleased I've found these videos!
Managed to have quite an active day again, went for an early morning run walk and then did a short YouTube step video and later went for a walk with my daughter, got to 11,400 steps.
Today’s food:
Breakfast: Smoothie, usual ingredients
Lunch: Small portion of homemade soup, 20g quinoa chips and a Nakd salted caramel bar- had a car picnic before our walk. Also had some scrambled egg and half a slice of toast when we got home.
Snacks: 2x squares of Lindt; 4 mini eggs; 40g pitta chips;
Dinner: Risotto with prawns, smoked salmon, roasted red peppers, broccoli and spinach
Dessert: 100g custard, apple, 9g biscoff, sprinkle of cinnamon.
Quite a snacky day, I was genuinely hungry when I was snacking so I think I need to make my breakfast and lunch more substantial.
I weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost another pound so I’ve lost 7.5lb since the end of November 🙂

Oh and thought you’d all like to know that there is now a crunchy biscoff which is on offer in Morissons! I resisted buying it so I don’t know what it’s like but I’m sure one of you will test it and let me know!
Total calories: 1927 approx as I had to estimate for the soup and and the risotto
Calories burnt will probably be around 2100 by the end of the evening

Mid afternoon: an apple (and some nutella on toast but I forgot to take a pic in my eagerness to consume)

Dinner: portabello 'burger' with halloumi and red onion coleslaw. Looks rubbish as the rolls weren't as nice as they looked on the online order picture. But it was edible.

Thanks everyone, I was just feeling down yesterday I am no longer with my son's dad so just felt crap but it's for the better.

Today’s food:
B- scrambled egg and a slice of toast
Snack- square of Lidl salted caramel dark chocolate - I got hungry whilst shopping so had a taste of this when I got in the car, it’s a poor imitation of the Lindt version in my opinion, I give it 2/10, I think I’ll keep it in the back of the cupboard for emergencies 🙂
Other snacks: Lentil curls
L: Heinz lentil curry with roasted sweet potato
More snacks: 3 squares of Lindt - (I had to eat some proper chocolate to make up for the abomination that I’d eaten earlier 🤪 plus I bought some cranberry almond Lindt and I wanted to try it, it's not as nice as the salted caramel one but it is nice 👍🏽 ) small banana; 4x mini eggs
D: 3 chicken nuggets and 2 chips that were extra from my daughter’s dinner +
leftover turkey pie with small portion of baked potato and peas
I’ll probably have a snack before bed, maybe some apple and a drink of milk.
Calories eaten: 1877
Calories burnt by the end of the day will be around 2000.

@Sillybilly35, sounds a really hard time to get through, but you are doing amazing and sound so strong and level headed, you will get through!! Yay for chinese, hope it was delicious whatever you had!!

@raspberrypickle thanks for the tip off, had the crunchy last time and it was amaze, bought another jar today hehe!

I had some microwaved apple and yoghurt (and biscoff etc!) after posting which took me to around 2100 cals, then only managed to burn 2100, but was fine about that as long as not a surplus!

This afternoon before work i was in one of my ‘eat all the snacks’ moods but managed to contain it (taking photos of all the snacks i was eating massively helped) and have eaten about 2200 cals and burnt around 2450, with 20k steps just walking dog x 2 and some housework (i bought a very warm and waterproof duvet coat recently which I am very grateful for on days like today!)

Food:
Breakfast- Oat milk gingerbread coffee then also a cacao latte - 80cals

Lunch- egg cheese and vegan sausage bagel with salad mixed with yoghurt and mango chutney - 789 cals

Snacks- total 728 cals eek:
-brownie protein bar, biscoff and frozen berries (yesterday photo)
-white gingerbread hot choc with ginger thin
-2 crispbreads with biscoff jam and spread
-stuffed date

Dinner- cauliflower, paneer and pea curry with brown rice, salad, yoghurt, mango chutney- 608 cals

Thanks ladies 😄 I didn't really count my calories yesterday but i will say what I had.
Ham cheese salad wrap with mayo, around 450 cals
2 poppadoms 70 cals
Chinese - 3 chicken balls, 3 prawn toast, about 100g of egg fried rice, about 150g of special chop suey and about 100g of chips. No idea really on the calories for this.

Calories burned yesterday was 2524

Back to it today 😁

Breakfast- mocha- 60 cals

Lunch- microwaved apple, cinnamon, biscoff, protein brownie bar, goji berries, almond butter, greek yoghurt, frozen berries, maple syrup-yuuuummm and just what i was craving after a wet and windy walk- 550 cals

2nd lunch- felt like something savoury haha so flatbread with 25g garlic and herb philadelphia and smoked salmon, and salad, also really yum and will have same tomorrow- 230 cals

Snack- decaff cinnamon latte- 55 cals

Hi everyone :) had a busy few days and lost track of logging but back on the horse today!

Breakfast- apple and cinnamon, yoghurt and granola
Lunch- Tortellini and asparagus with some grated cheese. DP made it then complained that the pasta sauce I bought wasn’t as nice as usual- only because he ignored the 4 bloody tins of pasta sauce in the cupboard and used plain passata instead!
Snacks- Fibre brownie, pom bears, 1/4 of a bagel with cream cheese
Dinner- saag aloo gobi and brown rice and quinoa, melon for pudding

Snack- 32g lindt and 3g goji berries- 190cals

Dinner- really enjoyed this and it felt like a proper treat- i did look for pizza express pizza but ended up getting tesco finest margarita as they do a deal with a pizza and my fave flatbreads (which are basically 2 mini pizzas) for £5, and half the pizza is 520 cals so quite substantial :) put some smoked salmon and had with lots of salad and 15ml pizza express light salad dressing (45 cals but worth it in my opinion!) - 725 cals

About 1810 cals eaten today. I have done fewer steps today, 12k, so will have burnt about 2050 cals by end of the day, however i may go for a run if i can motivate myself which would burn an extra 300 cals (would also have a protein hot choc after)
