Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Wow, well done op! 3lb is a big achievement when you don't have a lot to lose and it's Christmas/winter months.

I don't think I move around anywhere near as much as you so I can't eat as much but this is inspiring!

Hi everyone,
Thanks @Friedbanana for the encouragement! How long does it take you to walk your 20,000 steps? I average around 1000 steps per 10 minutes (less if my daughter is with me!) I’ve got no idea if that’s fast or slow, I think I’m quite a slow walker.
Yesterday wasn’t great for food or burning calories, my knee was painful the night before and I could feel it twinging just when walking round the house so I thought it was better just to rest it for a day.
I ate ok in the day but we got a take away pizza for dinner so I wasn’t in a deficit but today is a new food day and I enjoyed the pizza so I feel like it was worth the extra calories 😊.

Green smoothie ( still with peanut butter but a bit less than before as it was adding a lot of calories!) and mocha for breakfast

yay that’s amazing @fatcatthincat congrats on the loss!

i think my steps normally take the same time @raspberrypickle! i honestly think i’d be so sedentary if i didn’t have my dog though, she’s a big breed and needs so much exercise (if she doesn’t get it, we know about it 😂) so it really does force me out, rain or shine! 😂

Mid morning snack- 10g lindt 57cals
Stuffed date with biscoff, almond butter, little biscuit 96cals

Lunch- the niiiicest (and laziest) greek fakeaway! It was 7 quorn nuggets in a grilled greek flatbread (from supermarket, £1.35 for 4 and they are luuush and 200cals and 9.5g protein, although i have heard theyre really easy to make using flour and greek yoghurt so one day i’ll make my own!) @then mixed veg chopped in food processor (carrot, cucumber, tomato, celery, radish, red onion) mixed together with 70g greek yoghurt and 20g mango chutney! Sooo yummy, and only 600cals! Has filled me up till dinner hopefully, but if i need to snack i’ll have either apple or lindt :)

@raspberrypickle I hope your knee feels better soon and it's not too serious.
@Friedbanana I might try your date snack thing at some point, you're very inventive with your snacks. I'm also going to try microwave apple and cinnamon which I think was a @riotlady suggestion.

So far today we've attempted a bike ride, didn't get very far though before deciding it was too windy and horrible so only managed about 10 miles. I've also had a walk while talking to my friend on the phone because we live too far apart to meet up in person during lockdown, despite the fact that I think it's still local don't want to risk a fine.

B- banana
L- sausage and egg sandwich, delicious and needed after the windy bike ride.

I've also had a yogurt today. Tea is going to be quorn chicken fajitas with corn on the cob. Will maybe have some pudding too.

@whyarewealwaysmuddy the stuffed dates are lovely! i get the medjool dates from aldi but also very nice with smaller dates, just stole the idea of almond butter stuffed dates from a deliciously ella book i had (but the addition of biscoff and biscuit i do take credit for 😉) bike ride sounds good- i consider 10 miles pretty far?! but i haven’t rode bike for years 😅

had a protein brownie bar as a snack, was pretty nice, and decided to microwave the last bit with a lil bit of biscoff and it was 100x nicer!!
195cals plus 20 for the biscoff!
I bought a goodfellas vegan pizza on offer this afternoon so looking forward to that for dinner!

D - 2 toast, cheese slice (25g), 2 egg, 2 bacon and small amount of ketchup. 679 csls
T - chicken cheese salad wraps. 905 cals

Drinks -1 beanies coffee, cup of tea, 900 ml squash. 26 cals

Calories eaten - 1610
Calories burned - 2338
Calorie deficit - 728

My active watch stopped tracking my heart rate earlier and i didn't notice till late afternoon after going on my cross trainer, so my calories burned from activity is just a good guess.

Yeah microwaved apple with cinnamon is my fave @whyarewealwaysmuddy I have it most mornings with yoghurt and granola. Hope you enjoy!

  • thanks, I think my muscles are just adjusting to running as I’ve never got this far with the c25k before, my knee feels fine today after resting. I agree with *@Friedbanana*, 10 miles on a bike seems like really far to me!
Had another slow day today, I don’t think it stopped raining all day which didn’t help with my motivation to get outside 😕 Lunch: Leftover takeaway bits from yesterday - 600 calories approx Snack: 2x squares of Lindt and a few chocolate buttons Dinner: leftover sausages and rice cooked with whatever vegetables were left in the fridge! 337 calories If I’m hungry later I might try your namesake meal *@Friedbanana* as we’ve run out of apples! Calories eaten so far: 1497 Calories burnt by tonight will probably be around 1400.

I'm not very good at making my food looks tasty. I wonder if it would be more satisfying if I looked like more on the plate?

I bought some stuff from a company called lo dough recently and used their brownie mix this evening, it's awful!! Honestly not worth eating and I love brownies. It tastes sort of fake and tooth achingly sweet. Do not recommend.

Today's I've eaten 1377 calories and burned 2449 so far. Tomorrow I'm going to be eating more calories so I wanted a bit of a higher deficit today.

ahh brownie disappointment sounds the worst!! :( are they like low cal baking mixes? I got really into healthy baking last year and the best healthy brownies i made were sweet potato ones! They were honestly so nice and only had 4 ingredients i think, keep meaning to make more! dp loved them too! oo also chickpea blondies! again sound gross but they were so good! I stopped baking though as i kept eating half the tray before they were even cool 😅 but will get back into it soon i think!

The goodfellas vegan pizza wasn’t the most amazing, and feel like it was quite a lot of cals for what it was considering it wasn’t that big and didn’t have any cheese on. However would be pretty good if you were actually vegan and after a pizza fix! It was 794 cals and i also had salad plus dressing which was about 100cals, so in total I’ve eaten around 2020 cals, which I think is my lowest Saturday in ages so I’m happy :) I’ve done just over 20k steps (just walking, no run) and will have burnt around 2470 cals so about 450 cal deficit :)

@Friedbanana sorry about your pizza disappointment. It was a low calorie, low carb brownie mix. I won't be buying one of those again. Bluergh! Have you got the recipes for sweet potato/chickpea brownies? Sounds intriguing.

ohh also i made this flour-

So far today i’ve had:
Large cinnamon latte with oat milk (108 cals)
Chai latte with oat milk from a take out cafe (estimated 220 cals)
Lunch- same as yesterday, quorn nugget flatbread (648 cals)
Snack- protein brownie bar microwaved with 10g biscoff, eaten with frozen berries (deff going to do this again, the berries give impression of ice cream but for 14cals for all of this!) (268 cals)

I went on a 4 hour long walk with the dog this morning (from the house!) so have done 27400 steps so far today and already burnt 2100 calories, so will deff allow myself more calories today if I’m hungry :) planning an indian fakeaway later with naan bread so looking forward to that! (i think deff having dinners i’m looking forward to cooking/eating really helps me not snack loads in afternoon!)

Dinner was a lot more calorific than I’d intended- may as well have got a takeaway 😅 but was pretty tasty and satisfying and cheaper than takeaway! Don’t think the naan bread was really worth the extra cals, will have a chapatti next time! or just skip!
It was naan, vegetable biryani (frozen mix), paneer tikka kebabs and yoghurt, salad and mango chutney (had a bit extra yoghurt and mango chutney after photo) - 1151 cals 😬
Also had 18g lindt earlier in the afternoon- 102 cals

In total I’ve had 2520 cals which I know is a lot but I’ll still be in a deficit as I will have burnt around 2900 by end of today :)

B - slice of toast with biscoff. 264 cals
T - chicken breast, broccoli, mixed veg, roast tats and gravy. 730 cals
S - french fries (about 20g) then after tea I had a double decker chocolate bar, 2 bourbon biscuits. 363 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, cup of tea, 900 ml squash, hot chocolate. 273 cals

Calories eaten - 1630
Calories burned - 2558
Calorie deficit - 928

Thanks for the recipes @Friedbanana def going to make some over the next few days. I'm already trying to eat away my hormones so could do with some healthier tasty treats to tuck into.

I've eaten loads today. Forgot to take pictures. I've just started studying for a new course and I'm so stressed, have no idea what I'm doing so ended up eating a sausage roll and a bag of crisps in frustration!

I've not moved enough either today, only done 9k steps when I've managed 15k as a minimum for the last 10 days.

Eaten at least 2200 calories I think and so far only burned 1900.

Tomorrow's a new day. Well done @FatCatThinCat and @Sillybilly35 looks like decent deficits for you today.

@riotlady I tried the Apple thing today - delicious! So much better than a normal boring old apple. I also put half a teaspoon of biscoff on it, yum!
