Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

How do u work out my ideal weight?

Sillybilly35 · 23/01/2021 20:26

@Smile3 your homemade pizza looks lovely do you make your own pizza base?I'm the same today, nothing healthy at all. I'll make up for it tomorrow 😁

Sillybilly35 · 23/01/2021 20:28

@Smile3 it's your height I think, for me at 5'10 my healthy top range would be 12st 8lb

Smile3 · 23/01/2021 21:27

Unfortunately not Blush haha homemade as in I put toppings on..I have tried in the past a few times but I came across this in aldi and think it's less then a £1 and does the trick. Fresh pizza base rolled up in fridge section.

Smile3 · 23/01/2021 21:33

I found a calculator online and according to that I should be 10.6 so that 3 and half stone I need to lose....

whyarewealwaysmuddy · 23/01/2021 21:49

Today's food -:
B- wholemeal toast, Philadelphia, tomatoes and mushrooms fried with 5G of olive oil and chilli
D- 2 boiled eggs (we were out walking)
T- quorn and sweet pot curry with rice.
Pud- homemade lemon steam pudding with custard - this is something I would never normally have while on a 'diet' but this thread inspired me to be more sensible and still have treats.
Snacks- popchips, slice of ham, hot chocolate, a big marshmallow
Drinks - coffee and lots of peppermint tea

That all comes in at 1665 calories. My Fitbit says I've burned 2468, I know fitbits aren't completely reliable for calorie burn but I think even it's it's wrong by a couple of hundred calories that's still a good deficit.

I might have a little extra snack before bed too if I feel peckish.

Friedbanana · 23/01/2021 22:13

Hello @whyarewealwaysmuddy ahh it’s made me so so happy that this thread has had a positive impact on your relationship with food!! I was basically exactly the same as you describe!!! It just didn’t click for me until last year when I was reading/watching posts from some actual healthy eating influencers 😂 I absolutely love how people are joining in now posting pics, it is so much more motivating! And hehe thank you, I’m christmas obsessed, I do actually use my christmas plates/mugs all year too which is maybe weird but i love them 😂

Haha @raspberrypickle i don’t think i’m influencer material however if anyone who works for biscoff reads this thread and fancies sending me a jar for my recommendations i’ll not complain 😂😉 I am definitely going to try get hold of some tesco hash brown waffles!!

Lol, after i read your posts I was so happy and I proudly told DP that the mumsnet thread i started had apparently helped some people with their relationship with food, and he asked ‘are you going to share with them what you’ve had today?!’, looking over at the several empty ice cream bowls/snack plates/kit kat wrappers 😂🤦‍♀️ as today I’ve had an absolutely awful food day haha, eaten sooo much and not logged, and basically sat on sofa watching netflix all afternoon/evening! But i’m not feeling mad/depressed about it, just moving on and starting afresh tomorrow :) I think I’ve also identified that, for me, low cal ice cream is a major trigger for overeating.. or maybe it’s because i had two tubs in the house as the Halo top cinnamon bun ice cream was £1 from heron! So had 1 whole tub plus remainder from yesterday, then I just kind of spiralled, wouldn’t class as a binge as it was throughout the day and i did enjoy the food i ate at least, which i don’t during a binge :) maybe eaten like 3000-4000 cals? but possibly more 🥴 burnt around 2000, but anyway, I’ll be better tomorrow :)
Sorry for the huge ramble, but as always, I’m just sharing this to make people feel better if anyone else ever has a day like this 😂😂 i used to have such feelings of shame with days like this, as i’m sure so many people do, but it’s really fine, just got to move on and be better the next day :D

Here are photos of the main meals i had, i stopped taking photos of all the crap 😂
Lunch- leftover takeaway and salad
First snack of many- ice cream cone with biscoff and marshmallow fluff

Dinner- bagel

I think overall i should still be in a deficit for this whole week so I’m taking that as a win :D

I've had lots of days like that @Friedbanana and felt ashamed and guilty too.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Sillybilly35 · 24/01/2021 08:28

@Smile3 oh thanks I'll have to get one next time I'm in aldi and try it. My little boy would enjoy putting the toppings on too.

whyarewealwaysmuddy · 24/01/2021 10:43

We have barely any food in today (waiting for an Asda delivery tonight). Really not sure what I'm going to eat, I'm concerned it's going to end up being a really unhealthy day because we don't have any fresh food in. I will still take pics of everything and track it though.

Sillybilly35 · 24/01/2021 19:07

Hey everyone, hope you are all well. I've had a much better day today health wise plenty of fruits and veg to make up for yesterdays crappy food. 😁 Weigh day tomorrow morning too!

Dinner - tuna, egg salad with sweet chilli and mayo. 420 cals
Tea - pork loin steaks, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, broccoli, mixed veg and gravy. 995 cals
Snacks - banana, peach slices, lentil curls.279 cals

Drinks - 1 Coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 900 ml squash, 250ml pepsi max, cadburys hot chocolate (made with milk). 259 cals

Not had my hot chocolate yet so no photo.

Total calories eaten - 1953
Total calories burned - 2800
Calorie deficit - 847

FatCatThinCat · 24/01/2021 19:14
  • your meals
whyarewealwaysmuddy · 24/01/2021 19:23

Your roast looks delish sillybilly.
Here's my food for today -:
B- peach pot and slice of ham.
L- warbutons thin I found at the back of the freezer with Cream cheese and smoked salmon.
Second lunch - vegan sausage roll and chilli sauce. I accidentally ate most of this before I took a picture.
Snack - one chocolate truffle and some popchips. A slice of bread and a little butter because DP made some bread.
Tea- Camembert and a baguette, cranberry sauce.
Calories ate - 1725, calories used so far today - 2002.
Today has been a revelation! I would never normally eat like this while 'dieting'. But I'm still in a calorie deficit and I'm full!

Friedbanana · 24/01/2021 19:40

ahh I know what you mean @whyarewealwaysmuddy, i eat much worse when we have nothing fresh in! Hope you managed to have an ok day despite that today!

That tuna egg salad looks yummy @Sillybilly35!

I need to remember to stock up on frozen veggies this week- ran out of peas so sunday dinner looks a bit sad :(
Food today-
Breakfast- large cashew milk mocha
Lunch- banana bagel
Pudding- greek yoghurt with marshmallow fluff, biscoff spread, maple syrup, broken up gingerbread thin, microwaved apple and cinnamon (@riotlady, finally tried this and ahhhh so so nice!! Love the soft apple, going to have this regularly now!)
I did also have a little bit of biscoff and marshmallow fluff from the spoon, and i didn’t weigh, but don’t think it was that much :)
Dinner- veggie sausages, roast sweet pots, broccoli, 4 yorkshires and gravy :)
Around 1850 cals eaten, and by end of today will be around 2200 burnt, unless I go for a night run in which case it’ll be around 2500- will see if I can motivate myself to go!

haha @FatCatThinCat i don’t actually properly cook very much though so you’d prob get bored, basically all my meals are super lazy 😂

oops sorry @whyarewealwaysmuddy i didn’t see your post! Looks lovely, and so glad you’re over the ‘dieting’, i honestly think the diet industry has a lot to answer for!

Hi everyone,
I found it difficult to get motivated to move yesterday, I literally had to give myself a pep talk, the weather was beautiful though so that helped! Managed to do 11,000+ steps eventually.
Breakfast/ brunch: 3x hash brown waffles,150g beans, 2 slices of bacon (no photo) plus a Nescafé mocha sachet.
Snack: Nakd Bakewell tart bar; lentil curls; 1 square of Lindt; 4 x mini eggs;
Dinner: courgetti mixed with 50g spaghetti with cream cheese, creme fraiche and smoked salmon- I really like this meal as it feels very indulgent but it only came to 400 ish calories, it’s low carb too - (obviously even less carbs if you leave out / reduce the pasta! 🙂)
I also ate one little pig in a blanket, whilst making my meal, (they were in the freezer left over from Christmas) I cooked them for my husband and daughter and couldn’t resist just one! (No photo, I must have been hungry as I only remembered the photo afterwards!)
Desert: 40g of Haagen Daaz (I’ve been saving the second half of this mini tub so I was really looking forward to it 🤤) with Greek yoghurt, mixed nuts and 8g of carnation caramel drizzle.

Evening snack: sweet and salted popcorn 50g (approx) and a drink of milk with protein powder before bed.

1870 calories eaten, 2104 burnt so a deficit of 234

Glad you liked it @Friedbanana!

Totally blanked on talking pictures today but I had

Breakfast- Pancakes and maple syrup
Lunch- Chicken fajita
Snacks- Garlic bread, slice of pizza, alpro chocolate pudding
Dinner- Chickn gyoza (from Sainsburys- only 200 calories for 5!)

Not my healthiest, totally failed on my 5 a day! It was tasty though

raspberrypickle · 24/01/2021 21:16

Hi,
Have any of you had snow?! All we’ve had here is icy rain and wind 🥶
Today's food:
Breakfast:
Half a slice of buttered toast and a poached egg;
Snacks: 40g (approx) of Lindt; 4x mini eggs
Late lunch: Homemade vegetable soup; 4 garlic crackers; lentil curls;
Dinner: Homemade quiche Lorraine made with gammon, cheddar and creme fraiche, with two roast potatoes, salad and mayo.
This is where it went a bit downhill.. 🤭
I wanted to empty the freezer a bit so defrosted some dough and made chocolate button cookies, I ate a few chocolate buttons whilst making them, approx 15g? Meanwhile DH and DD made an almond cake, not my favourite so I only had a tiny slice to try it
Dessert: See above, plus 1 of the cookies.
Calories eaten: I’m not sure as I had to do approximate calculations for the homemade food, but I know it’s a lot!
I’ll probably have a hot drink before bed.
Calories burnt: 1281 as we’ve had a slow day at home today so no walking or running- back on it tomorrow!
