Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

hello @Smile3, if you just weighed weekly it may just be due to fluctuations you haven’t seen any loss? Like it may have gone down through the week you just didn’t see!

I've checked my BMR on a calculator and it's estimated at 2320. My watch doesn't always say this but I'm thinking this is because I don't wear it 24/7 it goes on charge at night and i take it off when showering too.
So if I add my BMR and whatever my watch says that iv burned from activity together to get my total burned. Does that sound right or have I just completely confused things? 🥴😂

Hi yes I think that's right! But I'm not 100% sure 🤔 Hopefully someone else will read this who is more knowledgable than me!!

@Friedbanana go for it! Hope the run went well! Do you run with a head torch on if you go out at night? I think I'm going to have to start running in the evenings occasionally but I need some kind of torch or reflective jacket 🤔

@raspberrypickle i’m so glad i went out! Going to try get into the habit! I don’t have head torch or reflective or anything just because all the streets near me are really well lit at night and there’s not too many roads to cross so I don’t think i need anything, but you’ve got me thinking maybe i do just in case 😅 I do see people run in reflective jackets, maybe that’s safer! night running is nice though, maybe just me and it’s not logical haha but it feels like you’re going faster when it’s dark, which is encouraging when you’re out (even though I’m actually going same speed 😂) also the streets are silent so you don’t have to dodge people!
Had a little protein hot chocolate (70cals) after my run yesterday! (If i do a run i’m not going to follow 12-8pm eating as I know i feel awful next morning if I don’t have something after exercise)
Also bought some cashew milk as it was on offer- only 23 cals per 100ml and it’s really nice and creamy in tea/ coffee and even froths up which i wasn’t expecting!

Afternoon all, on a good start. Had a slimfast coffee shake for breakfast 230 cals
Snack was 110 cals and eating soup for lunch which is just veg I made it myself and didn't work out cal. Also drank a few cups of water.

Ta da!!!

So I ate a snack of fruit around 3pm was feeling peckish that's 90 cals
Then my tea chicken,jacket potatoe with cheese and salad,which added up at 689cals I used my portion control plate too so I wasnt goin crazy , I have done a joe wicks workout also going to walk the dog for half hour once my children are in bed. ( they wont be alone tho haha there dad will be here)

Hi everyone. Weigh day this morning and I am down 2lb. Total 6lb down in 2 weeks. Let's see what week 3 brings 😄

Dinner - 2 slices of malted bloomer (no butter), 2 fried eggs, bacon - 682 cals

Tea - chicken kebab with mayo and chips from takeaway guessing 1200 cals? No photo

Snacks - 2 mint sweets, Satsuma. 65 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 600ml walter 600ml squash.

Total calories eaten - 2002

Total calories burned - 2528

Calories burned from activity - 208

@Smile3 how did you find Joe Wicks? I enjoyed it when I tried it last week, didn't have the energy to try it today though!
@Friedbanana yes it's definitely easier to avoid people when you run at night, that's my pet hate at the moment- people who walk in a row of two or three but don't move when they see you running towards them 😡
Today’s food:
Breakfast: smoked salmon and scrambled egg cooked with butter + almond milk mocha
Snack: Approx 20g Quinoa chips
Lunch: For some reason I was craving beans on toast, so I had half a slice of bread with 35g mini hashbrowns, 100g beans and two slices of bacon.
Snack: Another cookie (I might encourage my husband to eat the rest so that don’t eat them 😐)
Dinner: Slice of mixed vegetable pizza with salad, added a bit of ham and smoked salmon plus bbq sauce and mayonnaise.
My husband then brought home a packet of pretzel flips, I had a few (around 22g) but then put them away 😌.
Went out for a fairly short walk today so have only burnt 1519 calories.
Total calories eaten: 1522
So no deficit today but I’m going to try and go for a run tomorrow if I can.

That looks like a great day well done for first day on it @Smile3! That soups looks yum, I’ve never actually made soup 😳 but would love to give it a go, does anyone have a good recipe recommendation?

Smoked salmon on pizza is the nicest!!

I went on another night run tonight! did 5k but kind of walk/ran on way back :)
Todays food:
Breakfast- beanies sticky toffee pudding coffee with cashew milk
Lunch- cinnamon and raisin bagel with flora, 5g biscoff, 10g peanut butter and fried banana
Pudding- blueberries and grapes with 10g 70% choc
Snack- cinnamon cappuchino with oat milk
Snack (no photo) 14 almonds (14g) and 25g 70% choc spread throughout afternoon between zoom calls
Dinner- linda mccartney veggie meatballs with wholewheat pasta and big salad like yesterday, 15g grated cheese
Post run- protein hot choc

Total cals 1775 and burnt around 2730. scales said 8st 12.6 this morning, fluctuating like crazy!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a good day. Very naughty last night having a takeaway but did have grilled chicken kebab instead of pizza.
I am going to make sure I eat all my daily calorie allowance (1920) this week as I was under by 2650 last week so thats well over a day's worth of food 😲. My first week I ate all my calories and lost 4lb my 2nd week I was under by the amount above and lost 2lb! So just to see I'm going to eat more 😁 I know 2lb is a good loss but I did expect 3/4lbs only because I'm big and usually it 'falls' off me at first. We shall see anyway 😁

Dinner - chicken tikka, salad and mayo sandwich. Bag of lentil curls. 596 cals

Tea - sweet chilli chicken and bacon wraps (added some cheese to get my calorie intake up) 987 cals these were very nice.

Snacks - raspberries and custard, a banana. 261 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 600ml walter 900ml squash. 59

Total calories eaten - 1903

Total calories burned - 2791

Calories burned from activity - 471

Calorie deficit - 888

Not eaten my snacks yet so will put the photo up later.

No special recipes for my soups just use whatever veg I have in also a potato or 2 boiled up with few stock cubes and I blitz a little because I like chucks If I have left over chicken/gammon I break some of that in too!

My breakfast was 345 peanut butter on seeded toast. Dinner scrambled egg with beans 431 cals.Tea iceland takeaway version curry rice/chips 722 cals.Snack fruit salad 110cals
Cals burnt 2506
Cals eaten 1680

@Smile3 I have a samsung galaxy watch active 2. It's ok to be fair probably get a fit bit when I can. Think Fitbit monitor your heart rate better apparently and use it to get more accurate calorie burn.

@Sillybilly35 Well done on the loss!
@Friedbanana I don’t really follow a recipe when I make soup but this is what I usually do:
•Add one or two chopped red peppers and cherry tomatoes (as many as you like) to a tin with olive oil, garlic and seasoning, roast for 15/20 minutes approx
•Whilst that’s roasting soften an onion in a saucepan with a bit of olive oil and butter, add some carrot
•When the onion and carrot are soft add any other vegetables you like, then add stock and let it all boil until it’s all soft
•When the peppers and tomatoes are sizzling add them to the onion and carrot and blend it all together.

Today’s food:
Breakfast: Smoothie, same ingredients as other days with an almond milk coffee- I added some sweet freedom chocolate syrup.

Lunch: 100g beans on half a slice of buttered toast with two chicken sausages

Snack: Snack a jacks, 3x pretzel flips, 1 square of Lindt, 5x garlic crackers with a teaspoon of hummus, 1 strawberry Bon bon sweet.

Dinner: Mince with vegetables and half a jacket potato with small amount of butter

Dessert: Greek yoghurt with cooked apple, nuts, biscoff spread and a crumbled biscoff biscuit

I seem to be stuck on w6 run 3 of the couch to 5k, it’s a 25 minute run but I haven’t been able to complete it in one go yet, I can only run it with a couple of minutes break in the middle, I’ll rest tomorrow and attempt it again on Thursday.

Calories eaten: 1658 Calories burnt: 1662

@smile3 I have a fitbit alta hr, I bought it 4 and a half years ago and it was quite pricey, i think £150 at the time, but it’s been so good and only had to replace the strap once (£10), i don’t have anything to compare it to however but i think the heart rate monitor seems quite good and i like how it tracks exercise automatically! You might be able to get a cheap second hand one on facebook marketplace atm, my friend was looking and said there were loads

Today’s food:
Breakfast- cashew milk cappuccino
Lunch- same as yesterday as i really enjoyed it, bagel with fried banana slices but with a bit more peanut butter and lotus spread
Pudding- fruit, cinnamon and greek yoghurt with some salted caramel marshmallow fluff and a tiny bit maple syrup, plus a cinnamon cappuccino
Afternoon snack- 18g dark chocolate and 3 almonds, spread through afternoon between calls
Dinner- v similar to yesterday- huge salad and pasta and tomato sauce and veggie sausages

About 1700 calories eaten and 2520 cals burnt. This morning scales said a lb lower again, deff just water weight or the scales are just broken lol, but that’s me back at pre christmas weight (only took like 3 weeks 🥴, and i didn’t think i particularly over indulged this year 😂)
