Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Yay glad you’ve joined us @Sillybilly35!! Your food looks lovely and congrats on your loss so far!! oo I’ve never cooked chicken in the airfryer! does it work well?

And thank you @riotlady, yes I was quite pleased with myself that I stopped!

No post-binge restriction today for me 😂 glad i’ve broken that horrendous cycle..
Today’s food:
Breakfast- white choc cinnamon mocha
Lunch- red lentil pasta, roast veg and tuna
Snack- decaff mocha
Snack- rocky road cereal bar
Snack- matcha chai latte (not the biggest fan of the taste but i think it’s supposed to be healthy, i’ll add some maple syrup next time 😉)
Dinner- takeaway- prawn bhuna, puri, chicken tikka sag, mushroom bhaji, vegetable pakora (and a second plate i didn’t photo, with more of everything plus a bit of rice and some naan😂 i do have a bit leftover for lunch at least, but i must remember to put my lunch portion in tuppaware as soon as it arrives next time!)
Desert- a lindt ball

I haven’t tracked calories today and burnt about 1900 cals as dog didn’t want a walk again :( So prob in another fairly big surplus with the takeaway but will get back on tracking/a deficit hopefully tomorrow :) was 9st 0.2 this morning

Welcome @Sillybilly35 👋🏽

Today's food:
Breakfast: Smoked salmon and poached egg on toast with a mocha
Lunch: Vegetable soup with a packet of lentil curls
Dinner: Vegetable soup again and then the rest of the korma from yesterday with a small portion of rice and half a poppadom
Dessert: Greek yoghurt with nuts, berries, 12g of biscoff and half a mini pot of salted caramel Haagen Dazs (40g)- high in calories but so worth it as I really enjoyed it!
Snacks throughout the day:
Garlic crackers with hummus, 2 poppadoms (they are my weakness 😞) 2 squares of dark chocolate and a satsuma, plus half a choco Leibniz biscuit which my DH kindly shared as it was the last one in the packet! . Very inactive today as I felt a bit run down and it's rained all day so wasn't motivated to go out! Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow 😌

Today's food:
B: as yesterday, greek yoghurt, biscoff spread with raspberries and banana.
L: homemade roasted carrot and chickpea soup with a weight watchers wrap.
D: Quorn chilli with rice
Snacks (all goes horribly wrong here!) Lychees, mango, fibre one bar, biscoff spread off the spoon, Jive bar, wotsits and half a bottle of red wine!
No exercise done either. Onwards and upwards hey!

Sillybilly35 · 15/01/2021 18:57

Dinner- tuna and egg salad with mayo and chilli. 371 cals

Tea - 95% pork sausages in Onion gravy with broccoli, carrots, peas, sweetcorn, green beans. 833 cals

Snacks- apple snack bag 45 cals,
Walkers baked 109 cals, toffee cream meringue 118 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 1 beanies coffee, 600ml walter and 600ml of squash. 55 cals

Burned calories - 327

1531 total calories, quite a low day today but feeling full and satisfied.

The air fryer chicken is so good and cooks quick too. I usually season it with chilli powder, Paprika, salt and pepper and it's lovely. Breast, drumsticks, wings or thighs all are good. :)

Jumped on the soup bandwagon today (but mine was from a tin 🤪)

Breakfast- cinnamon coffee and Banana and peanut butter and oat smoothie (no photo)
Snack- two stuffed dates
Lunch- leftover takeaway rice and chicken tikka sag with yoghurt and mango chutney
Then i just felt like eating loads even though i wasn’t hungry, but it wasn’t a binge just lots of separate snacks and i did track everything (no photos though) - 3 gingerbread thins, biscoff and white choc hot chocolate, about 10 jelly beans, mini gingerbread man, 2 teaspoons biscoff spread , 35g choc orange popcorn, 1square dark choc, so by 3pm I’d already eaten 2000 cals
Then light dinner- 1/2 can tomato soup with tiny bit balsamic glaze and 4 croutons and a bread bun

About 2270 cals (estimated the leftover takeaway as 720 cals) going to try not eating anything else (maybe will have a small chai latte if i have any cravings) so I’ll hopefully be in a deficit of about 100 which I’m happy with as it’s not a surplus!
Forgot to weigh this morning

I've lost 5lbs in 6 weeks, which I'm pleased with considering we've had Christmas in that time, I'm happy for the weight to come off slowly and to enjoy eating and exercising at the same time 🙂
Sillybilly35 · 15/01/2021 19:38

@Friedbanana It was lovely i really enjoyed it, came in a pack of 2 but my partner had the other. I would have had both it was that nice 😄 For 118 cals I thought it was pretty good. Oh yes complete comfort food its the best 😄

raspberrypickle · 16/01/2021 09:36

Yesterday's food:
Breakfast: Two chicken frankfurters with tomatoes, onions and scrambled egg + coffee with a teaspoon of caramel syrup
Lunch: A wrap with pepperoni, ham, salad and garlic sauce plus 30g pop chips
Dinner: Chicken Kievs and salad
Desert: Apple, Greek yoghurt with biscoff spread
Plus almond milk/ skimmed milk drink before bed.
Snacks: A square of Lindt, popcorn with a couple of sweets (no photo) = 1754 calories.
Managed to do a bit more exercise today, attempted to take my 3yr old jogging with me 🤦‍♀️ then we did a bit of a YouTube kids dance fit class together, also managed to get out for a walk/run after my husband came home so calories burnt = 2144 so a deficit of 390. I've noticed that there isn't a huge difference between the total number of calories burnt on the days when I've been sedentary and my more active days! You have to work so hard to burn exercise calories!

Dinner - 4 chive crackers with cream cheese, cheddar cheese and cucumber. 427 cals

Tea - margherita chicken, veggie rice and mixed veg. 757 cals

Snacks - apple and grape pack, lentil curls, 2 poppadoms. 206 cals

Drinks - 1 coffee, 600ml walter and 750ml of squash. 45 cals.

Total calories - 1435

Burned calories - 581

Calories burned is off my active watch. Wonder how accurate it is. I have done 30 minutes on cross trainer and 25 minutes walking. Low day again but I don't feel hungry so I'm not eating. I might have a hot chocolate later which will add another 200 cals but I'll see.

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

Good morning! @raspberrypickle i love all your mother/child work out ideas! I find it hard to motivate myself to go out for a run, you are an inspiration taking your 3 year old out too!! I kind of know what you mean about fitbit exercise , i think when i used to run/do work out vids like i’s unconsciously be less active for the rest of the day therefore burn fewer calories, cause I’d feel more like chilling on sofa as my activity was done, whereas on non- workout days i’d do more running about the house doing chores etc. no idea if that’s the same with you, but in any case the exercise will deff be worth it and have much more benefits than pottering around, even if it seems like the calories burnt isn’t so much higher! I’m going to try go for a run tonight i think!
Yesterday was weird again for me, meals were fine but i just had this weird grazing on everything hour like 9pm, wasn’t a binge but still prob consumed maybe 500-600 extra cals. So I’m going to try intermittent fasting for a bit and see how it goes, only eat between 12-8 pm. I did this during summer and enjoyed it but when i was back at work it was really hard to maintain.
Here were my meals yesterday:
Breakfast- capucino , veggie sausage sandwich (no photo)
Lunch- egg quesadilla , roast pepper and polenta fries
Snack- hersheys bar , chai latte
Dinner- goats cheese and onion pastry, carrots , peas , 5 yorkshires (50 cal each so not as crazy as it sounds haha) onion gravy
Snack- lindt ball, then looooads of little bits of other stuff, including chocolate, biscuits, biscoff spread, almond butter etc

Also haven’t been shopping for ages, think i’ll go today and get some fresh berries along with everything as i find them super useful when in a grazy mood- i will just get a handful from fridge :)
Done yoga today and feeling positive 9st 0.4 today, even though it’s gone up i’m remembering it’s deff my lightest weight in january for like 11 years :) i read somewhere to always compare to your start point if you have wobbles along the way!

Hi everyone,
Yesterday’s food:
Breakfast- smoothie made of Greek yoghurt, blueberries, almond milk, kale, spinach, and protein powder; Plus a mocha
Lunch: ham tortellini with cream cheese and spinach
Dinner: Homemade burgers with wedges and salad (no photo)
Desert: 2 x cookies that I baked
Snacks: Square of Lindt chocolate; pop chips
I attempted a run but the freezing wind and rain made it painful to be outside 🥶 so I gave up and did some more dance fit with my 3yr old- got my husband to join in as well this time! I went for a walk later when the sun came out.
Total calories eaten= 1631 burnt=2186
@Sillybilly35 I’m using the Fitbit app which I think estimates your BMR calories as well as exercise calories, on Thursday I did no exercise so the calories burnt were literally just those my body used to keep me alive which equalled 1464. I guess your active watch is telling you what you’ve burnt from exercise. I’m just starting to learn about all of this and to get my head around it 🙂
@Friedbanana yes, I’ve joined a c25k group on Facebook and it’s helpful to hear about how running helps you to build muscle and changes your shape but it doesn’t necessarily help you to lose weight by itself which is why what you’re eating is important 🙂

@Friedbanana when I read your post this morning I was still in my pyjamas trying to talk myself into going for a walk/run, I got dressed then came downstairs and said to my husband 'Apparently I'm an inspiration so I need to live up to that, I can't let people down!' Haha! 😅 In reality I’ve started and stopped with fitness/ healthy eating so many times before whenever there’s been a change in routine, that I’m worried that the same thing will happen again! Anyway thanks for your post as I ended up attempting to run for 25 minutes, I had to have 2 minutes break in the middle but I carried on. This isn’t a brag by the way, I ran really slowly and I’m not naturally athletic but the c25k is really working for me.
Today’s food:
Breakfast- smoothie with Greek, kale, spinach, yoghurt, blueberries, almond milk, skimmed milk, oats, chia seeds, protein powder- I’ll be honest I tasted it at this point and it was vile 🤢 so I added some cacao powder and maple syrup which made it taste slightly less vile, I tried to drink it without tasting it and focus on the nutrients! It was definitely missing the sweetness of a banana which I’ve bought more of now!
Lunch: poached egg and smoked salmon on toast with mini hash browns
Snacks: Half a cookie and a square of dark chocolate
Dinner: Shepherd’s pie cooked with carrots, pepper and courgette in the mince. I tried to substitute some of the white potato for sweet potato to lower the carbs a bit.
Dessert: The other half of the cookie from earlier 😊
I’ll probably have another small snack and a hot drink before bed
Calories eaten: 1590 calories burnt: 1754

Sillybilly35 · 17/01/2021 20:29

@raspberrypickle Ahhh yes thank you I have just checked and have seen what it all means. I have a samsung active watch and it says total calories burned xxx which is estimated BMR and exercise and then underneath that it tells me calories burned from activity xxx so I understand it now. 😄

Friedbanana · 17/01/2021 20:36

Yes I also often wonder how accurate my fitbit is! But I think that does sound accurate for your exercise you describe @Sillybilly35! I think you can put in your weight/ height/age into an online calculator to get your BMR like @raspberrypickle says!
Oo that cookie looks yummy!!

Today was a lot better with eating, I wasn’t really that hungry after skipping breakfast so going to keep doing this!
Lunch- banana oatmeal pancakes (used the online ambitious kitchen recipe in case anyone wants a good healthy pancake recipe, they were really yummy, I also added 35g protein powder and used water instead of milk as i didn’t want to waste my barista oat milk 🤪, and i ate half of them then froze the rest, so 500cals and 30g protein :) ) added 7g melted biscoff spread, a gingerbread thin crumbled, 1tsp maple syrup drizzled and frozen berries
Snack- large cinnamon cappuccino
Snack- tbsp of marshmallow fluff type thing for 24 cals (saw this in the shop and couldn’t resist, i really loved it!)
Dinner- big salad with pine nuts and crispy onions and veggie bolognese with pasta and 15g grated cheese

About 1500 cals eaten and will have burnt around 2250 by end of today. About to sit down and try and plan my meals for the week!
