@MintyCedric that sounds great! Good for you!🏃‍♀️😊

monkeytennis97 · 28/07/2020 13:22

@JamRolyPolyAnyone I find walking so much better than jogging. I can just about manage light jogging now on the treadmill but not outside really. Good for you giving it a go!

JamRolyPolyAnyone · 28/07/2020 16:12

@monkeytennis97 I don’t think I’ll be rushing for workout number 2! I’ll stick to walking for a while.

2nd walk done today. Only 300 more steps and I’ll have reached 10,000 today. I can do it 🥴🥱😴

Cheesewine · 28/07/2020 16:37

Anyone with a Fitbit tried the workouts ? Just started them today. Worth a look if you can't get out for a walk or run etc.

monkeytennis97 · 28/07/2020 17:23

@JamRolyPolyAnyone yay! Brilliant!!Smile

MushMonster · 28/07/2020 17:32

@morningtoncrescent62 thanks for explaining! It does not sound like it will work for me, my body rather likes less food but at a regular input LOL
There are some serious steps in here! Well done!Star
I do not have fit bit, so I cannot count steps, but I have done 30 min light weights this morning, and 45 min walk. Also managed to stick to my food planning. I have done my food plan for tomorrow and also have the food ready indeed. And I am planning to double my walking time, as I have to go to both work and post office.
I hope to see some results at the end of the week, but at least I am already feeling healthier.

MushMonster · 28/07/2020 17:33

@MintyCendric I hope your mum is betterFlowers
And your charity event sounds great, that is a lot of miles 😊

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/07/2020 22:35

Hope everyone made positive progress today.
I've set a new record for myself on my Fitbit... 21,400 steps. Just over 15km apparently! Made me feel less guilty about the glass of wine this evening.

morningtoncrescent62 · 28/07/2020 23:40

It's walking 62 miles (100km) during August to raise awareness/funds for Refuge.

What a brilliant thing to do, MintyCedric. I hope you manage to raise lots of cash and awareness for them, they certainly deserve it. A friend of mine has been doing online gigs and donating half the proceeds to Refuge, and giving us updates at each gig. Good luck with your challenge, and so glad to hear you had a positive practice walk today.

MintyCedric · 29/07/2020 01:20

Thanks Mornington and Mush!

Mum's doing okay, thanks. Was bleeding from her ear and for some reason the GP thought sending her down there with a 3.5 hour wait would be better than her popping into the surgery for what turned out to be an infection and prescription of ABs Hmm. Looked worse as she's on blood thinners.

Mornington your friend sound awesome. It's a cause close to my heart that I've wanted to do something for for a while so am looking forward to it (even if it does mean leaving my lovely sofa!)

Better day food wise too, 2 x Slimfast, an apple, chicken Caesar salad, glass of wine and 2 choccy truffles.

Blackbear19 · 29/07/2020 08:21

Can I join you ladies?
I'm about 12st 10 ultimately I'd like to be 9st but my first aim is get back to 12st. Then 11st gets me to just over weight, and 10st gets me to just normal, 9st would put me in middle of normal.

16:8 is what I'm trying this time, yesterday was day 1!

Might look at C25K.

Franticbutterfly · 29/07/2020 10:28

Hi, just thought I'd check in and let you guys know what I am up to. After reading Jason Fung's books and watching him on YT on the advice of some helpful ladies on here I started a water fast on Sunday night. This isn't to lose weight, I am trying to kickstart my body and my liver, so that I can have a chance of losing weight healthily (I was previously diagnosed with a fatty liver and have had gestational diabetes once, probably twice). I think the future for me is mostly low carb and intermittent fasting with the occasional prolonged fast. My weight has reduced by 4lb (3 yesterday, 1 today, although I'm sure it's mainly water weight). I just hope I'm doing something good for my body and making it more insulin sensitive.

SansaClegane · 29/07/2020 10:56

Checking in...
I don't know how you guys manage so many steps! I get to just over 10,000 most days and that's pretty hard work (to take the time out to go for long walks).
However, I've interspersed my walks with bouts of jogging... not much, but a start. I used to be a runner (not a good one, but would do 5-10K about 3 x a week) but now my running clothes and sports bra no longer fit me Blush
Anyway. Planned to meet up with my oldest friend while on hols at my parents, and she suggested a vegan restaurant - which is great as I think that way I can have great food but not worry quite so much about piling all the weight back on! Still don't know how to convey to my mum though that I'm trying to eat lighter foods Grin

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 29/07/2020 11:42

I'm similar with steps @SansaClegane, if I'm not at work I sometimes struggle to reach 10,000 but my work is very much outdoors so they stack up when I'm there.
I've done run 2, week 2 today and felt like a lump but it's done so that's all that matters Grin
I realised this morning as well that I'm finally back into just being 'overweight'! That was a nice boost.
Hope you all have a lovely day!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/07/2020 12:14

I find it relatively easy to get the steps in but I'm at home with two children at the moment (7&9, so they need an act around rather than continuous attention). Can easily see how it would be harder with WFH. This morning I had to walk to the garage to pick up the car... That was 4000 steps. My evening walk is at least 5000 (that's my quiet time). Plus other stuff with DDs, housework etc.

Franticbutterfly · 29/07/2020 12:16

Well done @RosieposiePuddingandPi for being overweight. I look forward to getting there. I decided to break my fast with an omelette.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/07/2020 12:16

Rosie well done on being 'overweight'. I can't wait to get to that. About 1.5stone to go for me.

Countarthursgroupie · 29/07/2020 12:43

Me too please? 14 stone, and as well as looking like a big fat fuck my arthritis is giving me hell.

YeetYeet · 29/07/2020 12:47

@Franticbutterfly well done on your fast 💪
I am a big fan of Dr Fung too, it just makes so much sense and I feel better for it. I do lowish carb and usually do a couple of 24hrs and a couple of longer ones each week.

Franticbutterfly · 29/07/2020 14:34

@YeetYeet Thanks. Do you have any tips? Or a good schedule?

YeetYeet · 29/07/2020 17:33

@Franticbutterfly
I needed to build up the time I could fast so it took a couple of weeks to really get going, I was doing 16:8 at first. Now I try to fast Monday and Friday. The rest of the week I either skip just breakfast or both breakfast and lunch, so either doing 24hrs or 18:6, depending how I feel. I much prefer it to cutting down or calorie counting, so much simpler not to have to decide what to eat all the time. I'm doing 24hrs today so just eating now.
I think the most important thing is to accept that sometimes it will be easy and sometimes it will be hard, so be prepared for that. Drink plenty of water. A little salt helps on longer fasts. Good luck! Keep checking in, we can cheer each other on! I have lost almost 2 stone in about 10 weeks so far and definitely have a different attitude to food.

morningtoncrescent62 · 29/07/2020 18:57

Congratulations on reaching the overweight milestone, Rosieposie.

I've been inspired by all the walking going on in this group to take the day off on Friday (weather forecast is great) and I'm going to do a walk I loved when I was last fit enough to do it! It's 10 miles, coast and country and gentle rolling hills, about an hour's bus ride away. I wouldn't have been able to consider it a couple of months ago. But between losing weight and walking regularly through lockdown, and reading about all of your exploits, I'm going to give it a go. I can take all day and have as many breaks as I like, so it should be do-able. But I'd never have thought about it without all of the chat about walking in this group, so thank you.

Also, I have some lightweight walking trousers in a size 16*, and I tried them on and they fit!! Yippee. At the start of lockdown I was size 20 for trousers and 22 for tops, so that's a great result. I'll wear them with pride on Friday.

*I have clothes in all sizes 10-24 inclusive on account of yo-yo dieting for decades.

NurseP · 29/07/2020 19:16

Can I save a spot for when I get back from holiday please? I am going away for a week to the coast on Saturday. Self catering but mostly eating out. I am far too fat, clothes tight, constantly out of puff, tired, legs and feet ache after work. I am done with it!

TheBuriedGiant · 29/07/2020 19:53

Hi all, I am inspired by everyone doing so brilliantly with their weight losses, amazing step counts and runs! I have been doing ok with my calories and sticking to 16:8 or 15:9 although I haven’t done my 2nd c25k run yet, I will definitely have a chance to do it nice and early tomorrow morning and start my day well!
Have a good evening all and welcome all newcomers Smile

YeetYeet · 29/07/2020 20:44

Agreed, this is a very nice thread. I find some of the weight loss threads a bit weird but not this one Smile
