Morning all! How is it July!

Welcome to the July lose 7lbs thread. All are welcome to join whether you are a regular, lurker, oldie, newbie, or a proper old timer like me 😂

All we ask for is the amazing support and positivity that I've seen in every single one of these threads so far. Last months thread is here June thread - lose 7lbs/3kg per month http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3925539-June-thread-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

Stats for me are:
Start weight (Dec 2018) 25 st 2lbs
Current weight: 17st 6lbs
Loss for June : 3lbs (boo 😳)
Total loss so far: 7st 10lbs

Would love to get into the 16s this month! I'm following WW green plan, I eat mainly plant based with a little dairy/cheese/gin thrown in. My aim this month is more plants and less gin 😂

Plan for today is OMAD - grapefruit segments to snack on throughout the morning and then a pea and mint risotto for dinner with side salad.

Have a fabulous 1st July everyone!

Right. I've been off the rails since Monday and eaten toast, chips and biscuits. Result is a 2lb gain already so 11st 12lbs again.
Back on keto today. So determined not to undo all the hard work. MUST focus again. Well done to all of you that are managing to stick with it!

MonicaBingaling · 16/07/2020 11:52

I’ve not had the best week so far, gained 2lbs after the weekend, as didn’t eat great and then due to circumstances I couldn’t do my usual exercise Monday, so all the junk food from the weekend must of turned to fat from hardly moving Sad

Weighed today and lost a pound, but I’m still a pound over what I was like week. So been back on it since Tuesday, been eating clean and doing my exercises etc but I STILL feel gross and bloaty and huge Sad

I’m just trying to stay positive and be good. I think this weekend I will have to be better (normally have a Cheat meal then) but I think I will have to be boring and give it a miss.

Howmanysleepsnow · 16/07/2020 14:16

I’m still 10st 8lb. No change from the start of the month other than a couple of freak 10st 4lb days. My pill free week ended last night and I was hoping all my hard work would reward me with a drop today but no such luck.
Think I may have to resort to low carb. Is it a short term option as I don’t see it as being too easy with dc and dh to feed?
I may also build in some weight training, but all this will have to wait until tomorrow as I was on nights last night and am now trying to drag myself through the day on 3 hours sleep 😣

NerrSnerr · 16/07/2020 15:11

My weight is still the same too, still 12st 2. I have admitted defeat and reduced my calories on MFP. When I was losing previously I was breastfeeding a lot more and know it's only at bedtime and when he needs it overnight so not burning many calories.

JessJonesJumps · 16/07/2020 16:55

Scales were jumping all over this morning so I'll weigh tomorrow instead. I'm feeling tired and sluggish and just want to sit watching trashy TV. But I'm going to try to force myself to do yoga instead.

cricketmum84 · 16/07/2020 17:43

Down to 17.4 this morning but have eaten loads today. To the point where I won't bother with an evening meal. I've had a slice of granary bread with vegan cream cheese, a pasty, a packet of Cheetos, 2 babybel and some toasted broad beans! Plus a few strawberries.

I feel like we really need to pull ourselves together 😂 there's not enough room on the naughty step for us all!!

My plan is more water and more planning. I've proved to myself that if I don't post and plan my food for the day I fail miserably!!

Ecci · 16/07/2020 19:08

Weigh in today, started July on 175.2 lbs, now 173.4 lbs, so a loss so far of 1.8 lbs. I'm hoping to get to 170.4 lbs by the end of the month, but I think it's starting to look unlikely.

recklessgran · 16/07/2020 21:35

Evening all. Hoping I'm pulling myself back. Bacon and egg for lunch. Ham and cheese salad for dinner. Sugar free jelly and raspberries for dessert. So far, so good. No toast has been consumed. Phew!
Tomorrow is my day out with g/f. As we feel we can't go to the pub it will probably be a drivethru McDonalds I think and no, I won't be strong enough to resist. A quarter pounder with cheese, chips and coke it will be. I'm O.K. with that. Gotta live sometimes!

GetTheStartyParted · 16/07/2020 22:35

Hi everyone, I'm being a grump today. Stuck to keto but not my macros today.

It's DS's 18th birthday but he's still stuck abroad. I havent seen him since January and don't know when he can come home. We have heard whispers of late August but I daren't get my hopes up!

Also, after being so excited for my haircut today, I asked for a different style and I hate it Grin Blush

Oh well, things can only get better!

yorkshirecountrylass · 17/07/2020 06:14

Morning all, can I be cheeky and join you please? I know it's mid-month but I'm a lifetime member of the "I'll start on Monday/first of the new month so between now and then I'll eat as much as I possibly can" club. My happy weight was around 150-160lbs, I'm built like a farmer/rugby player so anything below 11stone doesn't work for my body type. Combination of pregnancy, a sweet sweet tooth, penchant for wine and Irish cream has seen my weight steadily climb and this morning the scales were especially damning at 305lb :( I have a holiday of a lifetime booked for summer 2022 and would need to lose 7lb a month to get to my happy place for then. I'm going to aim for an 80:20 split using IF on a 16:8 basis for now, combined with a commitment to hit 10,000 steps a day I hope will see some movement. Alcohol moved from a nightly friend to a fortnightly cheat and the £ I would spend put into a savings jar for holiday spending money. I'd love to swim with the sharks when we go away - at current weight I would neither fit the wet suit, meet the medical requirements or look particularly dissimilar to a tasty bite so hopefully these £ will help my lbs too! So, sorry for the mid-month joining but having lurked on several threads this seems like a friendly, supportive place where you can get a swift nudge to the derrière when needed!

cricketmum84 · 17/07/2020 07:22

Right! New day and new positive attitude!

Crazy snack day hasn't affected my weight thank goodness and am still at 17.4.

Plan for today is:
B - fasting
L - tin of grapefruit followed by 2 babybel
D - LM burger, no bun, lots of salad, slice of griddled halloumi
Friday treat is 2 measured G&Ts tonight

I've got mandarins and strawberries in if extra snacks needed.

@yorkshirecountrylass of course you are more than welcome to join :) swimming with sharks is brave! I want to lose enough to go horse riding so I think it's really good to have a goal like that!

@GetTheStartyParted I really hope your DS is home soon, my eldest is almost 16 and I couldn't bear the thought of being separated from her for that long. Hopefully you are feeling a bit less grumpy today ❤️

Have a lovely day today @recklessgran! Get a Diet Coke / I've been told it cancels out the calories.....

Great loss so far @Ecci

Have a lovely low fat Friday everyone!

Shedtheload · 17/07/2020 07:59

Glad you maintained after the snacking. My plan for today is:
B - smoothie with fruit, spinach and protein powder (at 11 as I do 16:8)
L - eggs on a slice of rye bread, mashed avocado and some 10% protein yoghurt, oats and strawberries
D - prawn stir fry with loads of veg and some brown rice noodles

Doing relatively well so far. I have lost 2.6 kg so far this month so I feel on track to hit the goal. My total loss is now 14 kg which is more than 15% of my starting weight. Insanely, I am feeling fatter than ever at the moment though and was just despairing at how big my thighs looked in my leggings.

I think that part of the problem is that with lockdown I have been wearing nothing but leggings and t shirts the whole time. And before that, I was down to just one pair of stretchy skinny jeans that fit me and that I wore all the time (lol, they were a size 12 and I was kidding myself that that was my size despite being 14 and a half stone). So I haven’t experienced my clothes getting looser. I also read about something called ‘phantom fat’ where it takes a long time for your mind to catch up with your body after weight loss. I am still in the overweight BMI so it makes sense that I still have a bit of visible fat but I keep thinking ‘what the hell did I look like before’ as I kidded myself that I wasn’t that big. I find it helpful to look at before and afters on Instagram of people who have lost similar amounts because I can always tell how different they look after and hopefully that’s how people see me.

Hollyhead · 17/07/2020 08:16

Morning everyone, this thread slipped off my list and I forgot about you all - sorry! However the good news is that following my blip I've reigned myself in and maintained for a week at June's end weight. In fact I'm now 0.1kg down on it, so I'm finally off the starting line with a fortnight to go! I'm now just aiming for 1 kg for the rest of the month which would still be a good result for me seeing as I'm almost at target. I'm going to try and fast until lunch today.

cricketmum84 · 17/07/2020 09:15

@Shedtheload I've been living in leggings and loungewear but today I tried on a dress I bought a few months ago that was too tight and it fits lovely.

It's a lovely mid calf length button up dress in navy with hearts and flowers. Very floaty and feminine.

I'm only going to the GP with my eldest DD but I want to look nice for once. Might even stick some makeup on! I think it's good for us to dress up every so often :)

Morning all. Welcome @yorkshirecountrylass lovely to meet you and great to have a goal - it's very motivating. I'm sure you'll be successful if you stay here in this lovely friendly place. Your planned holiday sounds amazing - I love the water, but SHARKS? Yikes, you're a braver woman than I!
@GetTheStartyParted thinking of you today missing your boy - you don't look old enough to have an 18 year old if you don't mind me saying! At least he's having an adventure but hope you get him home soon for the big mummy hug. Our lot are all much traveled [apart from darling DD1 of course who's only been on package holidays with us] and I found the homecomings so brilliant - the partings were scary though.
@Cricketmum84 yes, of course how dumb of me, diet coke will save a couple of hundred calories! Will definitely do that - thanks so much for the reminder. Half a pound down this morning so don't want to undo that if I can help it.
I know how to live - off to Dunelm to get a few final bits for DD1 mask at the ready. So fetching.

Shedtheload · 17/07/2020 09:46

cricketmum84 that is a gorgeous dress! I bet it looks lovely on you. I have some nice stuff in my wardrobe that I’ve bought in the past but never been able to fit into. Going to try to get into the next stone bracket down before trying them on. It will be like getting a new wardrobe but without the price tag!

GetTheStartyParted · 17/07/2020 09:56

Thank you Smile feeling a bit brighter today. It's my niece's 13th birthday and we have plans to meet up so DS2 will be happy.

DS1 is desperate to come home now, I think that made it harder but he is generally happy there and has some great friends with him.

@recklessgran I was just shy of 17 when I had him - I turn 35 in a few weeks.

Todays plan,
B - ketoketo coconut and cashew bar
L - cheese omelette
D - Either braised beef with cauliflower cheese or Chinese 5 spiced duck breast with pak choi

@yorkshirecountrylass welcome! Your holiday sounds amazing. We were supposed to be going to Florida this October and that is what spurred me on to lose weight - all the themes park rides and waterparks! We won't be going this year but that just gives me longer to get to target Grin

We are going to a restaurant tomorrow for our anniversary meal, and I am eating everything that I want!

Enjoy this lovely sunny Friday everyone 😊

GetTheStartyParted · 17/07/2020 09:57

@Cricketmum84 I love that dress! Hope you feel lovely wearing it Smile

Howmanysleepsnow · 17/07/2020 10:02

@Cricketmum84 I love the dress!
@Shedtheload have you tried the jeans on yet?

Well, I’ve weighed in this morning and I’ve finally lost! I’m 2lb down on yesterday so 10st 6lb. Fingers crossed it stays off and I lose more. It’s about time this plateau ended!

TheStirrer · 17/07/2020 10:47

Welcome @yorkshirecountrylass and as everyone said you are a brave lady!
That is a very pretty dress @Cricketmum84. Think I need to take a leaf out of your book and make an effort for a change.
I think I am going to need to drink tonnes of Diet Coke at the momentGrin - I am really struggling and seem to be permanently glued to the naughty step at the mo. It’s been a difficult month as my dads not well (cancer) and DD leaving to go back to us in a couple of weeks so all a bit emotional. Think I will class it as successful if I just stay the same.
Well done to everyone who has lost, stayed the same or been honest enough to say they have put on Flowers

yorkshirecountrylass · 17/07/2020 10:54

Thanks for the welcome all! Sorry to hear about your dad @TheStirrer, sending my best wishes. Love that dress @Cricketmum84 must admit Simply do some lovely dresses and tops. Should hasten to add that the swimming with sharks relates to those known to be quite docile and used to swimmers! Have always wanted to cage dive with Great Whites but think that's a few years away yet - friends did this & the video was amazing! Am actually looking forward to my lunchtime walk rather than seeing it as a chore today & have stuck some ice cubes in the freezer made up with a little cordial for when I hit snack mode this evening :)

WhatALearningCurve · 17/07/2020 12:02

@shedtheload I'm definitely with you on the phantom fat thing. I have some days where I can definitely tell the difference but most of the time I just think I was so deluded about my size before the weight loss!

timeforabrandnewnameagain · 17/07/2020 12:06

Weighed in on Thursday as normal and have stayed the same 9st 13.5 .. so it's actually going to be really tough to get to 9 st 10. My DH said I'm looking too skinny and like my mum Hmm My mum has an eating disorder and is a twig, with no muscle, but I weigh nearly two stone more than her so I doubt that I look like her. DH said I need to build some muscle which actually is a more helpful comment, just tricky with a 6 month old but I agree in a way, some weight training might be the way forward.

NerrSnerr · 17/07/2020 12:16

Thank you @cricketmum84. I have pulled myself together and am off the naughty step. I have gone through my wardrobe today to tidy it up and was pleased to find I have an extra pair of jeans that currently fit so that helps as I have been squeezing into trousers that are too small and I don't want to buy new 'fat' clothes if I am ultimately going to lose the weight.

Even though it's slow I am 6lbs down from my heaviest lockdown weight and I'm not gaining so every pound gone is a step in the right direction. Going to have some kind of avocado, olive and cheese concoction for lunch and try and figure out what to have for tea. My 5 year old who usually hates 'mixed up' food has promised to try spaghetti Bolognese for tea but I'm a vegetarian so won't be sharing that!
