Welcome @Onceuponatimethen! This is a very friendly and supportive thread!

I'm doing Weight Watchers (green plan) but other posters are on a wide variety of different diets / eating plans so I expect somebody else will have experience of the Newcastle diet.

Onceuponatimethen · 26/02/2020 00:02

Hi Mother, that sounds good - my dsis has been very successful with ww

DownUdderer · 26/02/2020 01:50

By the way I’ve never in my life heard of pancakes and gravy!

DownUdderer · 26/02/2020 01:52

As a child we went on a school skiing holiday to Austria and they served up a sort of pancake soup at the hotel! Strips of pancakes in a broth. Pretty weird for my tastes!

Egghead68 · 26/02/2020 06:04

Great loss @Nomorerainplease and well done on another pound down @DownUdderer. Hope everyone who had them enjoyed their pancakes. Glad the dental work went well @Tryingtwo

63.4kg again for me which I’m happy with.

Egghead68 · 26/02/2020 06:10

Glad your DD’s getting better @MotherOfDragonite.

cricketmum84 · 26/02/2020 07:05

Morning all! Weight STS (grrrr) and am not weighing now until Saturday.

@DownUdderer you see to me a pancake is just a flat Yorkshire pudding so it naturally goes with savoury. You wouldn't drizzle syrup on a yorkshire? I did 2 course pancakes for the kids so they got savoury and then sweet ones for dessert with Nutella. Well done on the loss!

@MotherOfDragonite the recipe did say red pepper but I didn't have any in. I'll add them in next time. My fresh coriander was very limp so I used dried which just doesn't have the right taste!

Welcome @Onceuponatimethen :) I'm on ww blue plan and also eating very low carb, trying to stay under 30g carbs a day. I've lost 6st 11lbs in 14 months so it's definitely working for me! Although losses have really stalled recently hence trying the v low carb method.

Plan for today is:
B - black coffee and 2 babybel
L - carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes and low fat hummous
D - might try the courgette fritter again with poached eggs, mushrooms and roasted cherry tomatoes

I've got an absolutely manic day ahead at work so hoping I actually get time to have my lunch! Will catch up with the thread tonight. Have a great hump day everyone!

That sounds like a great eating plan cricket mum - I love courgettes

Egghead that sounds like a super weight

Downudderer I think those pancakes in broth sound very interesting!

Onceuponatimethen · 26/02/2020 07:28

My plan for today is

Breakfast at work canteen - they offer a lot of greasy spoon stuff but I have a mushroom omelette - changing to this from toast and spreads has seemed to help me lose

Lunch - soup again at canteen

Dinner - dp and I will have a shake, salad and a few raspberries

Egghead68 · 26/02/2020 08:16

Off topic but @cricketmum84 yes I definitely WOULD drizzle syrup on a yorkshire (and have it with vanilla ice-cream). My mum is from yorkshire and would sometimes serve them like this. They are amazing! I don't know if this is a yorkshire thing.

Egghead68 · 26/02/2020 08:18

Turns out it is a proper thing:

www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/11041921/The-Kitchen-Thinker-the-history-of-Yorkshire-pudding.html

If this weren't a weight-loss thread I'd say give them a try!

cricketmum84 · 26/02/2020 08:25

@Egghead68 no no no! That is sick and wrong!!! 😂😂

I am a true yorkshire lass born and bred and my Yorkshire's go with gravy or sausages and mash! Nothing else 😉

Don't knock it till you've tried it!! Grin

cricketmum84 · 26/02/2020 08:30

Never gonna happen 😂

Morning all. Well my planned "salad week" seems to be working as I'm 12st 12.75lbs this morning as I enter day 3. I am having tuna mayo salad for lunch and prawn cocktail salad for dinner tonight. Still plodding on with the water as I'm sure this helps too.
Good luck at your weighin @MotherofDragonite - you're doing really well.
Welcome @Onceuponatimethen [and your DH] this is a lovely comfy corner of MN and I'm sure you will feel supported and accountable here. @Cricketmum84 and her mates know what they're doing and are certainly the best thing for me!
Got to crack on and will catch up later.

MotherOfDragonite · 26/02/2020 10:24

My mum who is in her mid-70s also has memories of eating Yorkshires with golden syrup, and she grew up in London...

SO... it's my official weekly weigh in day today, and despite the pancakes last night and the family celebration on Sunday, I've lost 1lb! Actually, maybe even 1.5lb, as I got a bit confused about my weigh in weight last week.

  • 1.5lb lost this week
  • 12.5 lb lost in total now
  • 59.5 lb to go!

Super pleased with that! I've lost 8lb in my February weigh-ins and any more losses will get counted at my next weigh-in which is in March. I am really hoping that I can lose more than 1.5lb this coming week and make it to a stone lost!

The plan today:

B: boiled egg with dukkah
L: might go out with my sister and have a salad?
D: left over sweet potato, sauteed cabbage with soy sauce, lemony bean mash or possibly tofu with soy sauce
S: oat milk latte, tea

MotherOfDragonite · 26/02/2020 10:25

Thank you @recklessgran!! The good wishes are obviously helping Grin

Tryingtwo · 26/02/2020 11:29

Good morning all, just a quick check in as today is my weigh in day. Can't remember what I was last Wednesday as I am still yoyoing but I'm 12st 11.6lbs - exactly 7lbs lighter that 1st February!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 26/02/2020 12:35

OMG what have I done?! 😱
I've just agreed to do a half marathon in July. I feel sick.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 26/02/2020 13:13

I thought you'd all appreciate a photo of my lunch; I have pretty much the same thing every day, with different protein. This is salad leaves, tomatoes, carrot, cucumber, avocado, olives anchovies and boiled egg (not in the photo). I love anchovies - so salty! Tuna & capers is another favourite. I might get some prawns for next week. Someone suggested chickpeas, which intrigues me. Any other non-cheese suggestions?

Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition!
MotherOfDragonite · 26/02/2020 14:18

@KedsAndTubeSocks that salad looks lush!

Chickpeas or cannellini beans -- I like mine with loads of lemon juice for flavour and I often add a bit of some kind of spice to the chickpeas and dry fry them.

Maybe some tofu marinated in soy sauce?

Sweetcorn, peas.

A light satay dressing made with PB Fit?

JessJonesJumps · 26/02/2020 15:05

Almost 2lbs down today which is probably a glitch although I've been feeling ill so haven't eaten much since yesterday. It puts me in the 12's again.

recklessgran · 26/02/2020 15:22

@MotherofDragonite I should think you are pleased with yourself. 8lbs already in February is brilliant. I'm going to be happy if I manage 5!
@Tryingtwo 7lbs already - that's amazing. How are you today? I've been thinking about you and hope the pain is fading.
@KedsAndTubeSocks yikes a half marathon? the very thought of it - you are brave or mad or both and have my greatest admiration. Your lunch looks lovely.
@JessJonesJumps, yippee, the 12's, I'm hoping to stay there for now too but not holding my breath given my forthcoming holiday.I'm hoping that I'll be like @Egghead68 and only do minimal damage. Time will tell - it's my birthday the day before we go so that will be a big whole family meal out. I shall do my best to forward plan but I think cake will feature somewhere....

Egghead68 · 26/02/2020 19:25

Good for you with the half-marathon @KedsAndTubeSocks!

Excellent loss @MotherOfDragonite!

cricketmum84 · 26/02/2020 19:54

Changed up dinner plans a little and instead am roasting some broccoli and asparagus with a drizzle olive oil and chilli flakes and will top with a couple of poached eggs.

So pleased for you @MotherOfDragonite all that hard work is really paying off!

Well done for hitting Feb target already @Tryingtwo!

@KedsAndTubeSocks salad looks amazing! Although I don't have any salad suggestions that aren't meat or cheese... pre veggie days I would roast some chicken in tikka spices and slice that up? Omg a half marathon! That's very brave but a huge kick to stay on track!

@JessJonesJumps whoop! A loss is a loss! And congrats for breaking into the 12s :)
