Snow! So exciting! But also a pain in the bum, I’m sure!

Onesmallstep67 · 25/02/2020 09:53

15st 5lbs. Boredom is my downfall. I don't work ( for a variety of reasons ) When I have plans and am around people food doesn't seem like a priority. But on the days when I am mostly in the house it's far too easy to snack. Time to crack on with getting myself out and about more. Let's hope the worst of the weather is behind us Wink

Nomorerainplease · 25/02/2020 10:04

Oh I hear you on the snacking at home. It’s a nightmare!
Posting loss. 60.9kg today. Lost 2kg.

cricketmum84 · 25/02/2020 10:18

@Onesmallstep67 worst of the weather still to come for us. We have heavy snow forecast overnight and snow showers for the next 3 days. I love it on a weekend when you can play in it but not so much during the week when the roads are terrible. We live semi rural and only way out of our housing development is up a steep hill that's STILL not on the councils gritting route 🤦🏼‍♀️

Onesmallstep67 · 25/02/2020 10:30

@cricketmum84, that sounds pretty gruesome. I am exactly the same with snow, great to play in/look at if you don't have to get anywhere but not nice when you have to get out and about.
@Nomorerainplease, great loss Star

recklessgran · 25/02/2020 10:43

Thanks all for your lovely messages about the dress - I admit it has really boosted my confidence.
@Cricketmum84 are you eating enough fat? I don't think you're supposed to feel hungry on Keto at all because the fat and protein are supposed to stop that. Perhaps you're not eating enough. Could you add some veggie protein like a couple of hard boiled eggs or some cheese to your lunch and see if that helps? [I think if you're not hungry then you won't crave the carbs.]
Back in the 12's today so feeling positive again. I can see the downward trend in my journal even though the loss is now painfully slow but at least I'm still losing. I'm not going to get to 12st 11lbs by the end of the week which is my goal for February though. Not too worried about that and accepting that this next stone is going to be something of a slog by the look of things. Hope everyone has a good day.

Tryingtwo · 25/02/2020 10:48

Good morning all, the dental work itself went smoothly and I wasn't in any pain at all until about 8.00pm then the throbbing started. It's okay at the moment unless I accidently bite together on that side of my mouth then it hurts! Porridge and soup today.
I didn't drink much water yesterday so I will try to do better today. Weight pre-shower was up by a lb, but after shower was down 0.6lbs from yesterday. I'll count it as a sts.
Great news about the dress recklessgran, I too would be chuffed with a wow from my dh.

MotherOfDragonite · 25/02/2020 11:43

Nice one @recklessgran! It's so satisfying to see a difference -- and even more so if somebody else notices too :-)

Well done @Egghead68. It sounds like you are in the zone!

MotherOfDragonite · 25/02/2020 11:49

Well done to you too @Nomorerainplease!

And it's nice to see the shakshuka (hopefully a lot nicer than mine was) making an appearance chez @cricketmum84! I recommend putting some fresh herbs on top, ideally coriander but parsley or basil would be lush too. I might also add some feta if I was allowed to go wild on the cheese front!

Today I am at home again with DD2, but she's on the mend. The plan is:

B: boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce
L: vegetable soup if I can bear the boredom of repetition
D: baked sweet potatoes with salad and chickpeas, pancakes (!) with a drizzle of maple syrup. I have cheated and bought ready-made ones.
S: loads of tea with Oatly

I had a very promising weigh-in this morning so I'm going to make sure I'm good today and hope for the best tomorrow (official weigh-in Wednesday...)

MotherOfDragonite · 25/02/2020 11:52

Glad your dental work went well @Tryingtwo!

cricketmum84 · 25/02/2020 12:05

Looking forward to the shaksuka @MotherOfDragonite. I don't have a recipe Per se but plan is to stir fry garlic and chilli and add sundries tomato paste and a tin of tomatoes. Cook down until thick and lovely then create two little spaces and add eggs to gently poach. I may do some mushrooms on the side and sprinkle a little cheese over the top.

cricketmum84 · 25/02/2020 12:06

Ooh forgot the addition of cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt and pepper!

OP posts:
KedsAndTubeSocks · 25/02/2020 13:01

Glad it wasn't too traumatic @Tryingtwo.
I'm finding it tough getting back into it after a week off.

Tryingtwo · 25/02/2020 13:18

Thank you MotherofDragonite and KedsandTubeSocks I've just been back to the dentist and got antibiotics for the abscess that was at the root of the tooth. He warned me that it was 50-50 whether or not it would flare up when the work was done - I didn't get lucky. Ibuprofen has begun to work now so I'm feeling less grumpy Smile

SconNotScone · 25/02/2020 17:57

Anyone else having pancakes for dinner?! I’m on my own tonight, once DD is in bed, i’m having pancakes, up to the calorie value of whatever I would have otherwise had for dinner 😂 Might need to spend a minute doing the maths to figure out how many I can have!

cricketmum84 · 25/02/2020 18:00

I'm making pancakes for DH and DC with some leftover turkey from Sunday in gravy. I'm avoiding though even though I would secretly quite like one!

OP posts:
KedsAndTubeSocks · 25/02/2020 18:56

I made pancakes for DC but didn't have any. Halo

recklessgran · 25/02/2020 19:40

@SconNotScone if it helps I bought DH a pack of ready made pancakes from M&S I've just looked at the packet and each pancake is 133 calories. Luckily I'm not keen on them so won't feel as though I'm missing anything. Ham and egg mayo salad for me tonight.
@Tryingtwo I'm so sorry about your toothache - there really is nothing worse so I hope you feel better soon. Do you have a heat pad or hot water bottle?

JessJonesJumps · 25/02/2020 19:47

I made pancakes for DS for breakfast and had two mini ones. We have lots left so I might eat some later.
I'm feeling a bit headachey and dizzy today so hopefully will manage an early night.
Oh, I was 0.2lbs down today but still hovering over 13 again. February has been a washout.

cricketmum84 · 25/02/2020 20:09

@MotherOfDragonite the shaksuka was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it so much!!

DownUdderer · 25/02/2020 20:59

I’ve just weighed. It’s morning for me. I’m down a pound! I’m bloody thrilled! I had soup yesterday for lunch and dinner, and I’ll be honest I had to force it down at dinner because I’m over it now! I froze the rest! I’m planning egg mayonnaise today for lunch with a piece of toast.

I’m 4lb down for Feb if I can maintain until the weekend!

SconNotScone · 25/02/2020 22:16

Thank you @recklessgran ! As it turns out, I used one of those “add water and shake to mix” things, and it listed the calorie content per pancake, I had 4 small thin ones, with loads of lemon juice and a tiny sprinkling of sugar, and it came to about 500 calories. Obviously not a very nutritionally sound meal, but it’s the one day of the year I would have it!

Congrats on any recent losses. Weigh day for me on Friday; it’s been 12 days so far since I last weighed. I’m anticipating a loss, but only a small one I suspect. Not sure I will quite hit the 7lb off for feb, but we’ll see.

Onceuponatimethen · 25/02/2020 22:24

Hi ladies, joining you all on here as dp and I are both really trying to lose some weight this month. About to read back through the thread to get some tips!

I’ve been worried about dp’s health for some time - he has been steadily drinking more and more wine, obese for a few years and has a family history of diabetes. I have also got a family history of diabetes and had put on quite a lot of weight, being tempted to drink the wine, chocs and popcorn! Then realised I have raised blood pressure which has motivated me to try to really get my weight down.

Since 1 Jan dp has been alcohol free and I’m joining in to support him. He’s stopped buying McDonalds and popcorn / chocolate.

We’d been trying to eat a bit more healthily since mid Dec and he’s lost around 4 kg since then and I’ve lost about 3kg.

Has anyone tried the Newcastle diet - from prof Roy Taylor’s book? I think this might be similar to Michael Mosley diet but I haven’t read that book.

Dp might try shakes and I want to support him so might do them as well.

Onceuponatimethen · 25/02/2020 22:25

Sorry for that very long first post Blush

MotherOfDragonite · 25/02/2020 23:10

Yay @cricketmum84! So glad it was tasty. You've inspired me to try making it myself next time (although for me it absolutely has to have red/yellow peppers in it and some coriander on top!)

I just fell off the wagon with a thud and ate four pancakes with maple syrup. Oops! It may jinx my weigh in tomorrow. But I am still kind of happy that I am making positive changes, but still able to eat fun stuff with the kids (pancakes) and join in family celebrations (random nibbles, fondue disaster) while still generally going in the right direction on the scales.
