Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Posting my grim ‘before’ photo (taken today) as an incentive to myself. Please delete if not allowed.

DownUdderer · 07/10/2019 03:30

I’m in a mini plateau. I’m feeling annoyed. But it’s TOTM so I’m blaming that. I’ve eaten great and hiked. I hope in a weeks time I’ll be back to loosing. Great work everyone. Some people’s step counts are really making me look to myself and think about upping mine!

Tanaqui · 07/10/2019 05:59

Awesome work on the dome of doom @WoollyFoolly. What was the stitch fix box like!

Amazing to see whales @DownUdderer- where in Oz are you?

I would love to be in the 50s for 2020 too @CalmConfident, but I might need to aim for spring.

10.2 today- sad my friend is going home but also am planning to get back to the 14:10 and try and go below 10 properly by end Oct. Happy Mondays!

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 07/10/2019 06:32

So I weighed 77.6 last week.
This week I’m at 77 kg so that’s a loss if 1.3 pounds Sad

While still a loss I’m flummoxed. I stayed under 1200 calories everyday and exercised regularly - it seems so slow!!

Mrscog · 07/10/2019 07:09

Just weighed in - I’m down 1lb from last Monday so I’m pleased with that. Down 3lb since my moment of doom towards the end of September! Approx 6lb to go!

Beerincomechampagnetastes - don’t worry, slow and steady is best. Plus you might be retaining a bit of water if you’ve been exercising a lot.

cricketmum84 · 07/10/2019 07:19

Morning all and happy Monday!!

Back down to 19.2 this morning. I need to break through this barrier!!

Please don't be disheartened by slow losses @Beerincomechampagnetastes. It's to be expected when you don't have a lot to lose. At 19 stone I'm going to see faster losses but I imagine when I'm down to 12ish it's going to slow down a lot. Plus a steady loss of 1-2lbs a week is sensible and easy to maintain.

Plan for today is:
Green tea and lots of water
L - 0% green yoghurt with honey and blueberries, protein pot of 2 boiled eggs and spinach
D - @Crazzzycat's spicy bean wrap but with little gem lettuce instead of the wraps

NO. WINE.

Have a lovely and successful days

Thanks cricket and mrscog

For letting me join and supporting!

Here’s to a good week for everyone Star

cricketmum84 · 07/10/2019 07:42

Greek yoghurt not green yoghurt. That would be weird 😂😂

206 lbs this morning, down from 213.4 on the first. Seems like a lot in a week, but I know some of it was fluid. I had fluid retention after a day surgery procedure at the end of Sept. Due to the anaesthetic, my kidneys took a while to wake up and my weight went up 10 lb in 2 days. It's now lower than it was before the procedure so I'm really pleased, especially as I thought I'd eaten a lot yesterday.

WoollyFoolly · 07/10/2019 08:02

@twobambinos, I've lost 30lbs so far. The majority of my weight was on my stomach as you can see!! Aiming for another stone.

@Tanaqui, the stitch fix box was really fun actually! I really enjoyed trying the clothes on. Unfortunately i only ended up keeping one top because nothing else was quite right (too short, too big etc) but it was close enough that I'm looking forward to having another go - basically you can give feedback on each item of clothing and if you like the general style you can keep the same stylist and they try again.
12.6 still this morning. Meh

7Worfs · 07/10/2019 08:16

Morning everyone Smile

No longer have high temp but have a cough and nose so blocked my head feels wrapped in wool.

Weight this morning 68.3, I’ve lost exactly 1kg in the first week of October. Happy with this, putting it down to 14:10 and baby eating more than usual (the silver lining of many night feeds!)

cricketmum84 · 07/10/2019 08:21

@7Worfs sounds like you need a good hearty soup and some vitamin C! Hope you start to feel better.

@WoollyFoolly do you mind if I ask about pricing for the stitch kit? How much is the service and what's the pricing of the clothes like? X

OP posts:
WoollyFoolly · 07/10/2019 09:13

You pay £10 upfront for the box, this is deducted off the cost of anything if you keep it (so I guess there's an incentive to keep at least one thing!). You can set your own price bands for items, I've basically picked the lowest band for everything! You can also select which brands you normally buy and whether you want to be adventurous or stick to familiar brands. And I've selected never to receive shoes or earrings for example (I have 'difficult' feet and don't have pierced ears). There was a range in my box - top for £22, bag for £30, jeans were £70. They included a dress for £120 which I would pay for a really really nice dress but I was not very impressed with the one I got so sent it back.

Onesmallstep67 · 07/10/2019 10:05

Feeling pretty deflated.according to the scales I am 2 lbs up on October start weight and more than 3 up from my lowest point in the week. I guess alcohol, half a tub of Ben and Jerry's and half a packet of M&Ms have sealed my fate ( other vices are available )so back on it today and for the next 4 days before my BP and weight check on Friday at the doctor's.
On a more positive note I applied for my first job in 3 years, signed up for a taster session with a choir and researched local drama groups with upcoming auditions that I will go to. I was offered redundancy from my part time Drama teaching job 3 years ago. Since I have been in limbo, my parents both passed away, their house had to be cleared and sold and i had an extension built here. My DDs were at crucial times with their education and I was 'fortunate' that I didn't have to work to support us ( late husband's pension etc ) But it has left me in a rather strange limbo, too young at 52 to never work again but unsure as to what I wanted to do with my time. It had a massive negative impact on my relationship too, and he got the heave ho earlier in the year ( but is hanging around on the periphery, along with half a dozen others accrued from OLD)
definitely time for new beginnings. Sorry for the ramble, maybe sometimes it's useful to share a bit. Hopefully my next installment will be to say Ben, Jerry and I have parted company and my scales are not acting up any more
Have a great Monday. Well done to everyone sticking to plan and seeing the rewards xx

Crazzzycat · 07/10/2019 10:11

Morning all! I’m excited to see others trying “my” spicy bean wraps and seeing the variations you come up with 😊

78.2 kg on the scales this morning, which is a whole kg less than last week. I’m a little bit sceptical about whether this was a “real” loss, but if I continue to lose after this, I’ll be very happy indeed.

I don’t have much of a plan for today as I have an afternoon meeting that starts during my lunchtime. It has thrown all my plans out of the window. If I eat before, that’s really way too early for me. It’ll probably mean I end up eating crap and make it impossible to stick to 16:8 today. But if I eat after, I’ll be really hungry during the meeting and ready for my dinner by the time the meeting finishes. I just don’t know 😣

WingDefence · 07/10/2019 10:24

Morning all and welcome to the newcomers! (That was me just last week Grin)

Didn't have a super bad weekend, but also wasn't super good. I like pressing the little 'start fast' button on the Zero app after my evening meal as I find it is really helping with the no evening snacking goal.

B - one small slice of toast & butter
L - probably a humous and cucumber wrap
D - poss veg curry & rice, although I really fancy pasta so maybe a chuck-it-all-in quorn sausage pasta dish.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 07/10/2019 10:25

Morning!

Been catching up with all your impressive losses after a very busy weekend.

Onesmallstep it sounds like you've been through an awful lot recently Thanks

Amazing photos WoollyFoolly!

I'm on my usual 18:6 today. Eating between 9 and 3.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Crazzzycat · 07/10/2019 10:27

Sounds like you had a challenging few years Onestep. I find alcohol terrible for causing weight fluctuations, so your gain may be temporary.

It sounds like there are a lot of different things you’re working on at the moment, which is really good. I was in not too dissimilar position at the start of the year and it’s bloody hard work!

What helped me stay motivated was to simply accept that there would be a few setbacks along the way. As long as you keep picking yourself up afterwards and keep moving in the right direction, setbacks don’t really matter that much.

Keep sharing your progress here if it helps you 🤗

DownUdderer · 07/10/2019 10:30

@Tanaqui I’m on the central coast of nsw, so north of Sydney. The whales were off Norah Lighthouse beach. And today we saw a dolphin at Ettalong! It was magical!

Ellabella989 · 07/10/2019 10:35

Can I join please?
Starting weight - 12 stone 7
Would love to be just under 12 stone by my holiday in 5 weeks time.
Going to be calorie counting as that’s the only thing that’s worked for me before (I was 15 stone 18 months ago).

HollyTheHarrier · 07/10/2019 10:42

Checking in to start the week! I can’t remember when I last posted, but Friday was not good in terms of food intake! Just ate way more than I needed. Weekend was ok by weekend standards! Plan for today:
Greek yoghurt (90 cals)
Soup for lunch probably
Either dhal with aubergine or veggie lasagna from the freezer, depends how much time I have to cook!

HollyTheHarrier · 07/10/2019 10:48

I just resisted a free cup cake that someone offered me at work. I deserve the scales to move tomorrow for that alone 🤣

7Worfs · 07/10/2019 11:09

I just remembered a good snack food from my childhood - roasted pumpkin. Very filling, low calorie (if not glazed with honey) and delicious!
But I can’t find any white skinned pumpkins to buy Angry

WoollyFoolly · 07/10/2019 11:18

@7worfs could you try using butternut squash? That's delicious roasted. Or our Lidl had a variety of different winter squash in at the weekend.

Ellabella989 · 07/10/2019 11:50

Today i’ll be eating -
B - pineapple, blackberries and a banana
L - small portion of butternut squash and chickpea curry with brown rice
D - prawn pasta (brown spaghetti with a sauce made from half fat creme fraiche, lemon, chilli, garlic, prawns and parsley)
Snacks - 2 squares dark choc and a Muller yogurt
