Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Yay, whales! 🐋

Still ill, maintaining weight because I can’t exercise (68.5kg third day in a row)

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/10/2019 08:52

Debating whether to go for a run - ground rather soggy! But DH and DS2 will be out for an hour so would be a good time to go. Managed yoga yesterday but rather spoiled it with half a portion of chips in the evening!
Graze protein pots are nice but I bet the Lidl ones are better value. I am still enjoying the oats, yoghurt, blueberries and flax seed breakfasts but I'm going to add a small portion of chopped nuts.

WoollyFoolly · 06/10/2019 10:01

Good intentions went out of the window yesterday, had a busy day with lots of physical jobs to get done so when DH suggested a chippy tea, I caved! Had most of a portion of chips and curry sauce and then flapjacks afterwards. Back to 12.6 today but that's fine, I'll get back on track.

I find it really interesting that one blip from one meal can make you go back up immediately but you can do days and days of low calories and it can still not have an effect! Why is that?! Sod's law I guess.

cricketmum84 · 06/10/2019 10:13

Morning all and happy Sunday!!

@WoollyFoolly yes Sod's law indeed!! I've been so good all week, below calories, no treats at all and I'm still losing and gaining the same bloody pound all week! Chips and curry sauce is my favourite thing

@LooseAtTheSeams they are exactly the same as the graze ones but 69p each rather than the £1.25 that graze charge.

@Mrscog hope you are having a lovely time away!

@DownUdderer omg I bet that was amazing to see!!

19.3 this morning so back to October starting weight!! How?!?! I am so so strict with myself and cannot understand why it's not shifting this week :(

DH is making a big meat pie for dinner today so I'm having a LM country pie with swede and carrot mash and steamed spinach. The pies are quite high in calories but I don't imagine I'll be able to manage all the pastry so will probably come in lower.

Planning in a couple of snacks, couple of babybels and some Greek yoghurt with a tiny bit of honey and some blueberries.

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing Sunday!

Morning all! I didn’t have a particularly good day yesterday. I just about managed to stick to calories, but most of those were used on chocolate and popcorn 😳

For today I’m planning spicy bean wrap and carrots for lunch and pasta bake with a green salad for dinner. I’m not sure about snacks yet, but I’m sure I’ll think of something 😄

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/10/2019 11:00

Cricket I'm going to stockpile those!
I did it! I went for a 5K run this morning and I didn't even fall in a puddle! Today's meals:
B: oats, yoghurt etc
L: lentil soup
D: roast veg bake with nuts and breadcrumbs on top. Rest of family have it with cheese sauce. Peas on the side. Have to try to eat small portion not 2 huge ones.

WoollyFoolly · 06/10/2019 11:40

Sharing a progress picture - deflating the dome of doom! First pic was January when I had good intentions of tackling it but didn't actually start doing anything until May.

cricketmum84 · 06/10/2019 11:42

Oh wow @WoollyFoolly!! That's incredible progress! You must be so proud ❤️

DownUdderer · 06/10/2019 11:51

Amazing progress photo! You must be chuffed.

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 06/10/2019 11:53

Wow @WoollyFoolly your progress is amazing. Well done!

I've weighed in today and suddenly lost 2lb/1.1kg. Now 10.5/65.9 Grin!

MiniDoofa · 06/10/2019 12:15

Hello may I join please?
Currently 11stone11pounds.
Have been this weight for about 3years (am 43) buy prior to that always around 10 stone 3 pounds without much effort.
Bad habits have crept in, so my plan is to up my exercise- walking, swimming, bike riding and not snack in the evening. A lot of my calories have been coming from wine (and associated snacking) so cutting that back dramatically too.

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/10/2019 12:16

Woolley you are amazing!

cricketmum84 · 06/10/2019 12:37

Welcome @MiniDoofa

I am also naughty with the wine creeping in! I try to stick to gin and diet tonic now.

Woolly that’s really impressive!
Seams great job on the 5k

🥇 for both of you

beforeIhit30 · 06/10/2019 14:24

Fantastic @WoollyFoolly! Star FWIW the immediate gains when you splurge, as far as I’m aware, are usually temporary and aren’t ‘fat’ gains. It’s usually bloating/water retention caused by having food that is higher in salt, ‘poor’ fats (like hydrogenated fats) and possibly eating things with more irritants (a lot of splurge type food like takeaways tend to contain things we don’t typically eat on a regular basis). I always give it a few days post-splurge before taking the scales seriously!

Today is going better (yay!), got groceries this morning and have a bit of a meal plan so made sure I bought plenty of things for the week. My issue is I tend to underestimate how much food we need Blush always need a top up in the week for a few fresh things but mainly things like milk, some fruit and veg, we don’t usually buy a lot in the week.

So anyway, today:
B: creamy coffee, omelette style eggs, roast chicken, roasted tomatoes.
L: muffin (see below!).
D: going to use up the cooked chicken and duck, probably salad style or stir fry style. More likely stir fry style!

I’ve made some low carb mini muffins today, mainly for the DCs lunches. So I’m going to try the muffin to see how it has turned out as I’ve never made them before. If it’s good I’ll eat a whole one! They’re really cupcake size I guess. They’re made with banana, coconut flour, butter, cinnamon, vanilla and tahini (and some baking powder and bicarb).

cricketmum84 · 06/10/2019 14:36

Great advice @beforeIhit30.

Also I do love a meal plan!! I always do mine on a Saturday morning for the week and do the shopping list from that. I find it stops me buying unnecessary items at the shops. I don't understand how people survive without one!

beforeIhit30 · 06/10/2019 14:39

Oh, and eggs, the muffins have eggs. Tried one, I like them! Very filling. Will see what the DCs think...

WoollyFoolly · 06/10/2019 15:10

Aw thanks guys!
I am proud but I also feel a bit foolish for not having tackled it sooner. I know that's daft though because I wasn't a) well enough or b) in the right frame of mind.

That's really interesting before, I shall proceed to ignore today's scales then!
Every week I mean to meal plan but I never get around to it, I really should.

CalmConfident · 06/10/2019 17:53

Weighed in...still exactly 65.0 kg just like end of Sept. However, viewing this as good news as I have been sliding a bit with the wine and snacks so stable is good.

So target is to get under 63kg this month. Goal is to be in the 50s for the start of 2020.

CalmConfident · 06/10/2019 17:56

however, also keen to up my activity and strength levels so will see what effect that has...have a Christmas dress mission

Mrscog · 06/10/2019 18:51

Wow just caught up with everyone’s progress - well done everyone. We’re back and I’ve just had a healthy omelette. Sunday is barometer dress day - tried it on and it is slightly more wearable again this week than last...although still not quite wearable!

Time is of the essence on the dress now as I have an event in early November I need it for.

Planning a really good week, and DH is away next weekend so can have a really good weekend then too. Will weigh in Tuesday, fingers crossed!!

twobambinos · 06/10/2019 21:48

Not a great day as was at a party so had a few nibbles but not as bad as I usually am.
@WoollyFoolly great pics. How much weight is the difference.

Well done to all the losers keep up the good work. I'm getting over the 10k steps so I'm pleased with that. Went for a run yesterday and a walk today. My average daily steps would be alot lower if I didn't make a conscious effort to get a walk in.

Went to lidl today but couldn't remember what you had recommended @cricketmum84 ended up picking up some Halloween themed chocolate Blush
Better luck next time. Haven't eaten any of it yet though which is good. Maybe I'll give it to the dds.

Egghead68 · 06/10/2019 22:04

Great progress pics WoollyFolly!
Day at the seaside today so not exactly healthy but I’m proud of myself for only eating half of some things:
B: half a cheese toastie
L: piece of polenta and raspberry cake
S: half a scoop of ice-cream
D: big bowl of lettuce and roasted veg with a squirt of hoisin.
I think around 1500-1600 calories in total which is OK.

poshme · 06/10/2019 22:17

Well I had a disastrous weekend & drank far too much wine.
Must do better this week!

Not looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow. My will power is just nonexistent at the moment.

MumOfDiamonds · 06/10/2019 22:24

Hi! Can I join in please?

I started sober for October on the 1st and on the same day I started the nutracheck app, logging everything I eat.

I started at the beginning of the month weighing 13st 5.5lb and I weigh next on Tuesday. Really want to get down to 9st 7lb.
