Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Good morrow!
Weight today is same as yesterday; not unexpected as I ate a chocolate.

Couldn’t cardio this morning as my cold peaked last night, hope tomorrow I’ll be almost over it.
I’ll try to maintain in the meantime, would be a shame to reverse the good progress from the last few days.

WingDefence · 05/10/2019 08:30

Morning all :) 14:10 is working for me, I’ve not even been tempted to snack or have a glass of wine the past four evenings which is brilliant. I don’t eat too much crap in the daytime but I wouldn’t say I’m eating like I’m on a diet iykwim. Hmm

Anyway, I’ve got a church coffee morning today so will try to not pig out!

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 10:20

Morning all and welcome to Day 5!!

Thanks so much for all the ideas for increasing protein. I've just meal planned for the week, made a promise to myself to make time for lunch and one high protein snack a day and included lots of protein on my shopping list. Lots of mixed beans (yep for spicy bean wraps @Crazzzycat), babybel light (6g of protein each and only 50cals), cottage cheese, quinoa, Edamame beans and Greek yoghurt. Oh and some of those lidl graze style boxes.

I felt awful after work yesterday and only managed 350 calories for the entire day. Feeling pretty woozy and can't wait until 1pm when I can have food!!

Plan for today is:
1pm - pepper sticks and low fat hummous, little bit of Greek yoghurt with raspberries
Snack - 2 babybel light
Dinner - feta and olive salad with a sprinkling of mixed seeds

Couple of g&ts as it's Saturday :)

Hope the poorly ones are feeling a little better today, and the new mums have managed some sleep.

Happy Saturday!!

cricketmum I don't know what the light babybels are like but a normal baby bel only has 70 cals anyway so you could stick with an ordinary one for better flavour (based on previous experience of reduced-fat cheese!!) and not many more calories.

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 10:56

Good thinking @WoollyFoolly. That's not much difference at all!

I was posting on the September thread and all was going well :)

Not been to gym to weigh in for end of sept/Oct start so will try to do that this weekend!

This thread really helped me. Keep on going people, will be back soon Grin

DownUdderer · 05/10/2019 11:07

I’m down a pound so far for October. I’m pleased with that. If I can loose four more pounds this month I’d be down a stone! Wooh!

My day is done (I’m in Australia), I ate pretty good today. And I got in two walks, I managed 12k steps. I’m hoping for a pound off in the morning.

WingDefence · 05/10/2019 13:13

Inspired by @Crazzzycat and her spicy beans I totally cheated used a fajita pack I had already and did spicy bean fajitas for my family for lunch because it’ll be more of a sandwich tea tonight. It was delish - I meant to take a photo but forgot, and to be fair I tend to keep my MN habit away from my family so it would be a tricky one to explain! Grin

CalmConfident · 05/10/2019 13:15

Parkrun done and still fasting...managed to resist cake, crisps and chocolate so fat today!!! Cannot wait for lunch and. Proper cup of tea!!!

CalmConfident · 05/10/2019 13:15

So fat?!? So far!!!!

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 13:26

DH found me some little fresh protein pots when shopping in Lidl earlier. Edamame beans, sugar snap peas, spinach, chilli, soy sauce and ginger. Absolutely flipping gorgeous! Would definitely recommend!

Hi everyone I've lost 3lbs but that was over the last two weeks. 10st 5 now. Hopefully I can get to 10st but the end of this month. And then well into the 9s by Christmas. I think 5 lbs and my wardrobe will be alot more available to me.
I'm trying to get in at least 10000 steps every day of at least averaging over the week. So I find the watch keeping me motivated.
Going out for a run later as it looks like it is clearing up out there.

They sound lovely @cricketmum84 similar to a salad I found in one of the supermarkets earlier in the week. Makes a nice change.

Well done on the park run @CalmConfident

Mammyloveswine · 05/10/2019 14:11

First weigh in during October and I lost 3.5 pounds.... that was Tuesday. Weighed in again today and according to my scales another 2 pound down.

I think the fast800 style low calorie, low carb model works best for me!

Almost a stone down in 3 weeks!!!

WoollyFoolly · 05/10/2019 14:25

Ooh that sounds delicious cricket I’ll look out for those when I’m next in lidl. My favourite snack pot type thing is the lidl smokehouse barbecue crunch, I go through a lot of those!

Egghead68 · 05/10/2019 17:38

Joining in late if that’s ok. Currently 74.3-75.3kg. First target is 74kg, second is 70kg, third is 65kg. I’m no good at sticking to diets (or threads). I’m trying to eat 1400 calories of reasonably healthy food with less sweet stuff (my kryptonite) except at breakfast time. I exercise 3-5 times a week anyhow but will try to up the intensity (heavier weights etc). Good luck everyone!

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 18:13

Salad prepped and ready! Will be trying not to be jealous while DH and DCs are tucking into pizza!!

Looks delicious, cricket
It won’t fill me up, though! I’d be adding boiled eggs and olives Grin

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 18:32

@7Worfs I've added 10g of mixed seeds to hopefully make it a bit more filling. Toying with the idea of toasting a wholemeal pitta to go with it though 😂

Good inspiration here, I could make a salad for dinner! Have just been wondering what to have.

@cricketmum84 woozy doesn’t sound good! Sounds like you’re back to normal now though. I used to carry nut bars around for the odd day where I just didn’t get to eat much (as in when time just went out the window!), for fat (energy) and protein.

Today:
B: creamy coffee.
L: roast chicken and duck, coleslaw, rice.
D: thinking (now!) of a chicken salad - chicken, mayo, maybe some cheese, and salad bits (def have cucumber, tomatoes, pepper, radishes, olives).

DH still recovering and has gone to bed early again, at least this time it’s not a school night/bin night/laundry day etc so hoping I can just have some food, do bedtimes and hang out with baby!

Sigh81 · 05/10/2019 21:14

An okayish day food-wise today:

B: overnight oats, raspberries
L: lasagne, peas, 5 (!) Lindt praline chocolates
S: small bread roll, tomato/cucumber/feta salad. Banana and yoghurt.

Snacks: mini chicken skewers.
Drinks: water, black coffee.

CalmConfident · 05/10/2019 23:10

A crap weird food day...fasted till lunch, eggs & soldiers (with the DC), naughty plain chocolate bar, a big choc chip cookie, 2 slices pizza (stolen from DC), some flatbread and a zillion cups of tea. So basically carbs all day :( however not eaten past 8pm so trying to draw line under the day and eat sensible food tomorrow....managed to avoid wine tonight

cricketmum84 · 05/10/2019 23:48

38g of protein today! Still nowhere near where it needs to be but a huge improvement on the 20-25g I was managing before.

Well done cricket!

I'm 10.2.3 again today but have a friend for the weekend and we are treating ourselves! All most enjoyable so far!

DownUdderer · 06/10/2019 06:54

I’m 11st 8. I’m desperate for that number to go down! I feel so close to getting a stone off!

I’ve been out for a great hike, I took a wrong turn, but found the right path when I went back a bit. Then I sat on the beach to eat some late lunch and saw two humpback whales! One looked like a baby! That was a thrill. They were leaping up out of the water which is called breaching. Makes you feel small and insignificant, but excited too!

How’s everyone else going?

Mrscog · 06/10/2019 08:11

Hi everyone I’m away so not able to weigh etc. Sensible day yesterday though (for a day away) so fingers crossed tomorrow’s weigh in will be positive!
