Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Thanks @7Worfs and @HollyTheHarrier - I am going to have to get to grips with the protein thing as it was also suggested as the solution for the nights I'm at my evening study class! Annoyingly lots have gluten in though, and I am not keen on the taste of soy. I think the problem is I used to exercise in thr morning, have a big brunch and big dinner, and all was good! Now I exercise less, and in the evening, and I think I am a bit disgruntled about changing my habits!! I need that positive mental attitude!

WoollyFoolly · 02/10/2019 17:44

Oh @WingDefence, I love tiger bread too, hope you managed to resist.
I've tried to keep cals low so far today, it's our wedding anniversary so we will be having a bottle of wine and meal deal for 2 tonight!

7Worfs · 02/10/2019 18:03

I needed to snack today, but made good choices- a handful of dates and a small can of tuna.
Dinner was at 5pm, now in bed with baby.

7Worfs · 02/10/2019 18:04

Congrats on your anniversary, Woolly Smile
Last year I forgot ours Blush

cricketmum84 · 02/10/2019 18:11

Oooh tiger bread. Literally the best smell in the whole world!

Managed to swerve the bake sale at work but then got stuck in a meeting and haven't had chance to stop for lunch!! Really looking forward to having some dinner and getting some flipping food in me! I'm being lazy and bought ready made mashed potato and ready made carrot and swede mash.

@Crazzzycat I love spicy bean wraps. I love doing them in little gem lettuce leaves topped with a bit of cheese and sour cream. The crunchy lettuce always makes me really satisfied! Plus I can have a bit extra cheese if I don't have the wrap.

Welcome to all today's new joiners :)

Happy anniversary Woolly!

K1ngmarbs · 02/10/2019 19:22

Happy Anniversary @Woolly enjoy your wine etc

K1ngmarbs · 02/10/2019 19:23

Oct so far so good! Just back from swimming and dinner cooking. Stuck to my three meals and two snacks plan Smile

cricketmum84 · 02/10/2019 19:51

Happy anniversary to Woolly and Mr Woolly! (Or Mrs Woolly? No judgement here!)

OP posts:
WoollyFoolly · 02/10/2019 20:21

😁it's Mr Woolly. Had a lovely meal and just one glass of wine. Only 200 cals over the daily limit so not too bad!

cricketmum84 · 02/10/2019 20:48

Well it is a special day!

I'm sure you could do some extra exercise (wink nudge) later to work it off 😂

DownUdderer · 03/10/2019 03:59

My legs are aching today, I definitely worked them on yesterday’s hike!

Mrscog · 03/10/2019 06:34

Thursday weigh in for me - 1.1kg down on Sunday but I’m pretty dehydrated this morning, so might expect it to jump back up. I’m going to think of it as more of a 0.5kg loss as I could easily drink 500ml water right now. Also away this weekend so we’re in a danger zone there too! Will be trying on the ‘barometer dress’ again on Sunday.

Plan for today is to fast until 10.30ish then have a beans on toast brunch to see me through until evening.

Have a good day everyone!

cricketmum84 · 03/10/2019 07:00

Morning all! Welcome to day 3!

Temporary gain yesterday was just temporary Smile back down to 19.2 today.

Plan for today is:

L - feta and olive salad
D - a portion of something from the freezer, either lentil chilli or chickpea and spinach curry with the green rice

Following 16:8 again so lots of water and green tea this morning.

As a fairly new vegetarian (April onwards) I seem to be really struggling to get enough protein in. Do any of you more experienced veggies have any suggestions? I don't really like nuts and quorn is proving to not agree with my stomach!

OP posts:
pontiouspilates · 03/10/2019 07:10

Good Morning! Managed my first 16:8 yesterday and was amazed that I wasn't hungry! I'm feeling motivated today and determined to make some better food choices.
How often does everyone weigh? I've heard pros and cons regarding both daily and weekly weighs.

lightlypoached · 03/10/2019 07:13

Morning all.

I've been off the wagon as I've been ill with a fever and bad throat. So there's been no yoga or dancing either. And the weird thing? As soon as I stop the exercise I start eating badly (pizza, tunnocks wafer, wine and chocolate cake yesterday ) and I feel even more rubbish for it.

So as soon as I'm up for it I'm back on the exercise. But before that an 8 hour round trip for a customer meeting. Waaaahh as I'm still feeling ropey.

I'm going in. Wink

poshme · 03/10/2019 07:14

Can I join? I really need to start making a proper effort.
Currently 10 stone 2, want to lost at least 9lb.

Downfall is savoury snacks and wine and portion control.

Was aiming to lose 5lb in September and gained 2 instead. Sad

Going to try and pop in here to keep on track and be encouraged by you all!

cricketmum84 · 03/10/2019 07:18

@pontiouspilates I weigh daily. I think it keeps me more accountable as I can see straight away the results if I've had a couple of very good days... or a couple of very bad days!!

@lightlypoached hope you start to feel better soon! Travelling and feeling ropey is never a good mix!

OP posts:
FashionFoodLaughs · 03/10/2019 07:34

@pontiouspilates daily weigher here too, I record it in a weight trend app so it shows me the general trend. It helps to keep me on track and not freak out about any water gains.
@lightlypoached I had exactly the same. Just recovered from a nasty virus after 10 bloody days. Doing a half marathon on Sunday the only positive is that I’ve enthusiastically carb loaded and my physio says my body’s in good shape from all the rest.
Plan for today:
B - chia seed yoghurt with mashed banana
L - chicken, cous cous, salad and feta
D - seabass with Spanish potatoes and asparagus
S - a celebratory G&T as Thursday is my Friday!

HollyTheHarrier · 03/10/2019 07:55

Hello everyone and welcome @poshme and @TheLastStark and anyone else new that I have missed. No change for me today. Plan for today’s meals:
B: Yoghurt and nuts/raisins - going to hold off on this as long as I can
L: Sandwiches at meeting, will have to try to limit damage!
D: smoked salmon wrap with guacamole and salad

7Worfs · 03/10/2019 08:03

Fashion what’s the app? I also weigh in daily.
Still continuing 14:10, not ready to progress to 16:8.

Slightly indulged at breakfast with double spread on my toast (rosehip jam and peanut butter), will take it into account for the rest of the day’s intake.

makingmiracles · 03/10/2019 08:09

Can I join you all? Finally got my head back into it after going a bit mad on my holiday at start of sept!
weight on 10th sept when I got back 19.2
Weight now 18.7

I had Big shock in that my mum who is wheelchair bound, went from 24.5st back around 4 months ago to weighed after holiday and was 20st! Despite costa coffees and cakes etc. Means she’s only marginally more than me now which has shocked me into action and since the holiday I’ve been pretty strict with myself. I guess it irratates me that she can lose so quick without being able to move about, I’m happy for her though. My downfall the last two weeks has been Morrison’s own pure peanut butter, nothing added, I’ve eaten 3 jars of it over the last week or so Blush I’ve not bought any with the food shop this week but I do love it with chopped up apple.

Hoping for 10lb off in Oct as im so big it shouldn’t be too unrealistic!

makingmiracles · 03/10/2019 08:14

Last two days

B: 1/4 pot greek yog, 2-3 strawberries and tiny handfulblueberries with 6 cashew nuts chopped on top

L:2 egg omelette mushroom and Stilton with salad

D: cauli rice, steamed green rice and hake

S:none

Ihatesundays · 03/10/2019 08:53

Lost some weight. Always chuffed/surprised 73.8 to 73.4. Hope to see 72 in the next week

WingDefence · 03/10/2019 08:54

@cricketmum84 I'm also a relatively new pescatarian (still eating fish once a week as otherwise I think I'd get bored!), since Feb I think. Beans and chick peas so pulses are my go-to for protein. Have a look at this BBC article too:www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein-vegetarians

Hope you all have a good day!
