Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Back under 74kg to 73.9....hopefully under 73 by end of the month..

Mrscog · 02/10/2019 07:58

@cricketmum84 that ‘rice’ looks great - what do you have with it?

WingDefence · 02/10/2019 08:10

Morning all - my first 14:10 fast went well and I only had a peppermint tea last night. Really hoping that having some sort of plan to stick to will curb my evening cravings.

I don’t normally plan my meals much but breakfast is porridge with cinnamon.

Sigh81 · 02/10/2019 08:17

Thanks for new thread @cricketmum84! Gorgeous boots from last thread btw.

So:
Start Sept weight: 58.9kg
Start Oct weight: 57.6kg
Target 1 Nov weight: 56kg

Am in awe at the progress of so many on this thread! It is a slower process for me but am pleased with progress so far. Just want to lose the bereavement weight I put on this summer.

Yesterday food menu:
B: overnight oats, fruit, skinny cappuccino
L: blue cheese and tomato sandwiches. 2 jaffa cakes
D: 2 slices toast, 1 banana. 1 oatcake with blue cheese.

Snacks: none. Drinks: black coffee and water.

Got in late last night after networking event so not the most balanced meal as just ate whatever was in the fridge. Grocery delivery then arrived so have lots of fresh fruit and veg to eat with lean protein over next few days!

HollyTheHarrier · 02/10/2019 08:28

No change for me today. Yesterday was a bit off track due to meetings (and lovely canapés and wine provided!) and travel but not too awful. 4.5 mile run this am to set the day up! Yoghurt and nuts for breakfast - no plans yet for the rest of the day! Must get better at planning!

7Worfs · 02/10/2019 08:31

@Tanaqui
To prevent overeating after gym I used to eat a protein bar before training.
Favourite was Quest brownie flavour, really hard and heavy, and so chewy it took 30min to eat it. After all that mastication you simply don’t feel hungry.

Then for dinner decide on portion beforehand and don’t deviate from it. When I’m feeling greedily hungry I tell myself I’ve had a big meal and feel very full. Often I convinced myself. Jedi mind tricks Grin

Gothamgirl1970 · 02/10/2019 08:33

@cricketmum84 well done.

Place marking. I lost 7 in September as well

cricketmum84 · 02/10/2019 08:41

@Mrscog I'm planning on just using it in place of rice. Last night I had it with lentil and bean chilli but it would be good with curry too. I'm a huge fan of broccoli and cauliflower rice it's just a pain to make when you don't have a handy blender type tool to make it.

LooseAtTheSeams · 02/10/2019 08:59

Cricketmum the rice sounds inspired - I need to try this.
Got really fed up last week as I've plateaued at 11 stone 1 or 2 but I'm motivating myself by remembering that's 3 pounds below my previous plateau and I've kept those 3 off!
Target for October is very simply to break below 11 stone and stay below!
I need to rejoin the gym.

Crazzzycat · 02/10/2019 09:17

Morning all. I had a good day yesterday, but went slightly over target as I didn’t measure one of my foods properly 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1621 kcals in total, which according to the app I’m using is a 444 kcal deficit. I’m not sure to what extent numbers like BMR etc can be trusted though. Does anyone know?

For today I’m planning spicy bean wrap with carrots for lunch and pepper and spinach risotto for dinner. Snacks will be 2 satsumas, corn thins with hummus and quorn ham, a few almonds and a small homemade peanut butter oat bar. That sounds like a lot!

beforeIhit30 · 02/10/2019 09:21

Tried to post a couple of times yesterday but got sidetracked or lost what I’d written!

Yesterday was fairly good, lamb and salad to start, got takeaway for dinner as we were tired, had Turkish food so mainly had grilled meat, salad, and yoghurt dip, had a bit of flat bread too so more carbs than I usually aim for but not horrendous.

FWIW I eat LCHF (low carb high fat) hence my food logs contain a lot of cheese and cream! I find posting about it here very helpful though for accountability and presence of mind, without going through detailed logging (which I don’t like doing).

Today isn’t planned yet (oops!). Having a creamy coffee, then going out shopping so might eat something whilst out - not sure yet what that would be. Making either duck or oxtail for dinner. Today is a lot less organised!

WingDefence · 02/10/2019 09:44

@Crazzzycat I think I saw you post the spicy bean recipe (when I was lurking previously) but would you please be able to share again? Flowers in advance!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 02/10/2019 11:23

Morning everyone!

I find it so interesting to read everyone's menus. We're all so different! If I was rich, I'd pay for one of those dna tests which tells you how your body personally reacts to different food groups.

For now, I'm learning to listen to my body properly (after a sugar-free reset).

Plan today:

9am Brek: toast, butter, 2 fried eggs, maple syrup, coffee.

2:30pm: roasted salmon, Ned veg & spicy couscous.

I'm actually fasting for 18 hours rather than 16, Monday - Thursday. I've got the zero app, which I mainly use for the badges.Blush

Have a hunger-free day, losers.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 02/10/2019 11:24

Med veg.

Ned has nothing to do with this.

DownUdderer · 02/10/2019 11:59

I’m going to jump in, if that’s ok. I’m finding lots of support on mumsnet at the moment.

I’m 11st 10 today. And I’d be happy to loose weight this month!

I’m doing 16:8.

Crazzzycat · 02/10/2019 12:00

@WingDefence no problem! Here’s the recipe:

www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetable-recipes/cool-mexican-bean-wraps/

I make mine without the onion (as they make me ill 😭), but add a little bit of extra garlic and 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika to the mix. I also allow 25g of cheese per wrap and add chopped jalapeños and sometimes hot instead of mild chili powder.

Basically, it’s a recipe that’s pretty easy to adapt!

DownUdderer · 02/10/2019 12:03

Breakfast: cheese and tomato on low GI toast
Lunch: yogurt (low carb), crackers and babybell
Snack: hummus and carrot, mozzarella
Dinner: chilli made into a soup with cheese and sour cream

WingDefence · 02/10/2019 12:17

Thank you Crazzzy!

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 02/10/2019 13:28

Hi everyone!

Not weighed in today but feeling slimmer- woop!

Out tonight but friend and I are planning on having a lowish calorie meal before we go and limiting what we drink. It's a work night anyway so we won't have too many. I've managed 1000 most other days so even if I go abot over 1200 tonight hopefully it won't do any harm!

I really need to try them bean wraps @Crazzzycat even DH likes the sound of them!

DulciUke · 02/10/2019 13:46

Hi, new person here. I'm determined to start my weight loss journey this month. (Of course, I said that to myself last month and ended up gaining 3 lbs...)
Current weight 16.3
Goal for the month: 5 lbs

Fingers crossed

Crazzzycat · 02/10/2019 13:51

@AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter I can confirm they’re good. I’ve been testing them pretty much everyday for the last 4 months 😂

WingDefence · 02/10/2019 14:05

Argh, DH bought tiger bread which is my absolute downfall. Had a cheese sandwich for lunch. Not a doorstop sarnie but still.

HollyTheHarrier · 02/10/2019 14:17

@Tanaqui re overeating after the gym I do similar to 7Worfs except after training rather than before. I have a small scoop of whey powder (chocolate flavour) with hazelnut milk - it’s not a full portion because I just don’t think I need that much extra protein, but it fills me up and stops me binging on toast and butter after long runs especially. It works out to about 100 Cals as I don’t have a huge quantity. It also tastes nice as hot chocolate after recent wet/cold runs, I add a spoonful of cocoa in that case 😊

HollyTheHarrier · 02/10/2019 14:36

Today has been good so far, I had butternut squash and lentil dhal from Pret for lunch and a skinny latte. So far on about 550 calories which is good and allowing for my run this morning I still have about 1,100 calories to play with.

TheLastStark · 02/10/2019 15:25

Hey everybody, hope there's room for one more!

I'm currently 87 hoping to get down to 70.

Currently go to dance twice a week and hoping to add on a swim once or twice a week
