Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

I’m down another pound I’m amazed! I’ve had a good couple of weeks plateauing and feeling like I wasn’t progressing. Then this week I felt determined to up my step count in a proper focused way and secondly I have dropped how much cheese I was eating. I’m very happy. I’m 11st 3 and I feel so close to getting to the 10st bracket!

Mrscog · 24/10/2019 07:04

Hi everyone I’m back! Having being too scared to weigh in after a few blips I just gave and I’m the same! This has motivated me back on the wagon - I’ve only got 1-2kg (not sure what will look best but will stop as soon as I’m happy) left to go for gods sake!

Baguetteaboutit · 24/10/2019 07:26

10stone 13 today, 0.75lb down from yesterday. I think those weeks when I hit the plateau that I must have lost weigh but masked the loss by holding on to water. Nice to see the scales being obedient.

Yesterday b: Porridge l: Hummus, carrots, celery, avocado d: mushroom barely risotto. Also, in a proactive bid to ward off colds, I tried a tumeric tea using soya milk, cinnamon and honey - and that was actually alright, so I'm going to start making that as an evening drink.

WoollyFoolly · 24/10/2019 07:28

Morning all. @mrscog I think it gets harder and harder as you approach the end!
I'm on 12.3 still. Kept within calories yesterday but had way too much bread.

beforeIhit30 · 24/10/2019 07:46

That’s great @DownUdderer.

I agree @WoollyFoolly as you get closer to goal there is less to play with. But it’s also a good time to really get into the rhythm of how you are going to eat sustainably at your new weight, to try things out and make sure you can maintain that easily.

Yesterday:
B: eggs, bacon, creamy coffees.
D: braised oxtail, coleslaw.
S: hot cocoa (no sugar).

Have a great day all Smile

Mammyloveswine · 24/10/2019 07:50

Weighed in Monday night..lost 5.5 pounds so far this month! Need 4 off to hit my 20 pounds in 6 week target (and get my money back!!).

Can no longer trust my scales as they say I've put 2 pounds in 🙀🙀

Weigh in next Tuesday morning... living off eggs, fish and green veg and green tea and water.

Egghead68 · 24/10/2019 08:33

Well done @Downudderer and @Baguette! KOKO everyone else.

72.8kg today.
PLAN
B porridge 300
L poke bowl 385
S yoghurt & fruit 270
D small slice pizza, salad 500ish

Onesmallstep67 · 24/10/2019 08:37

@cricketmum84, thank you for your kind thoughts. I seem to be in a better place than I have been at times in the last few weeks and trying to be philosophical about the stuff that doesn't matter.

16st 1lb this morning so the walking is paying off and I have now lost 3 stone since starting. Yay !!
Hoping to possibly see 15 st something before the end of October. Everything crossed. Well done everyone, seems to be lots of positive posts and losses at the moment Wink

7Worfs · 24/10/2019 09:09

66.5kg today, which is this month’s lowest.
Looking at the app, I started strong and it was a gradual, but very obvious slow down.
Just got to stick with it!

I’ve moved from 14:10 to 15:9 inadvertently due to change in baby nap times 🤷‍♀️

Forecast for a lot of rain today, so probably no walk - I haven’t mastered pushing the pram and holding an umbrella at the same time.

WoollyFoolly · 24/10/2019 17:56

Did you manage to get some more sleep last night @7Worfs?
Super tired today, menopausal hot flushes are keeping me awake at night, I've just ordered a wool duvet which is supposed to help.
Lentil ragu for tea today, had a chicken burger for lunch.

7Worfs · 24/10/2019 18:13

Woolly Sleep was in 1 and 2h chunks, which becomes a problem after a few in a row. Can’t wait for weaning in a month.

Hope your sleep improves soon! Us women can’t catch a break.

Lentils ragu sounds delicious.

beforeIhit30 · 24/10/2019 19:39

Us women can’t catch a break < The older I get, the more I really feel this!

Today:
B: ‘noatmeal’ (low carb porridge style dish, made with coconut flour and flaxseed) with peanut butter and strawberries. This was a new recipe for me, was alright actually but could only manage 1/3 of the bowl!).
L: three keto small sausage rolls and two mini pizza scrolls (also part of experimenting with new recipes!).
D: feeling lazy Blush so will probably have some berries, nuts and yoghurt, if I’m really hungry I’ll have a couple more keto sausage rolls. No veg today Confused but I’m sure I’ll survive!

DH is out and I’m always less motivated to cook just for me, and I just don’t fancy yesterday’s leftovers (though it was nice). However I’m feeling smug as I’ve already done the bins Grin

FlyUpAndDieWitch · 24/10/2019 19:43

Yes, night flushes are grim. I have a chillow pillow which really helps.

KOKO here.

WoollyFoolly · 24/10/2019 19:53

Ooh I'll have a look at a chillow. I'm resisting going back on hrt which I know would sort out the hot flushes but the best bit of meno is the lack of periods so I'm not keen to go back to them!
Men have such a straightforward time in comparison.

cricketmum84 · 24/10/2019 20:40

Hello everyone!! Sorry for late check in today. Been working flat out whilst also tending to a poorly sick little DD who is coughing like crazy and feverish. Just taking 10 mins away before I go back to my evil spreadsheet,

Hardly eaten a thing today. Had a slice of toast with proper butter while I was doing some soup for DD, then I had a few spoons of cottage cheese straight out of the pot. Just had a fish cake and some new potatoes. No salad in the fridge and haven't been able to get out.

Hopefully this madness will settle once my payroll has been sent, going away for a few days next weekend and I am so so ready for a rest!

Vebrithien · 25/10/2019 06:53

Sounds like everyone is under lots of pressure right now. I hope things improve soon.

My weekly weigh-in puts me at 89.4kg, which is a slight gain of 200g. Frankly, I'm not surprised. Fighting another chesty cough, and the sugery cough syrup that helps, has lots of sugar!

But, am on half term now, got some lovely things planned, and as soon as I'm better (TOTM as well), I'll be back on track. Am still over 21kg lighter than I was in April!

cricketmum84 · 25/10/2019 06:57

Morning all and happy Friday!

18.13 this morning! Yay! Finally broken into the 18s after hovering above all month! There's no way I'm gonna hit target this month but every pound is a bonus!

Plan for today is
L - pumpkin spice latte (almond milk and no whipped cream)
D - promised the kids takeaway so I need to pick something off the usual Indian/pizza takeaway menu that's veggie plus low in calories and fat??

Night off from working hopefully so will be partaking in a posh gin or two!

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

OP posts:
WoollyFoolly · 25/10/2019 08:39

Oh well done @cricketmum84! To be honest if all else you are going to have today is a pumpkin spice latte, I'd get whatever you like for takeaway and forego the drinks. But then I'd take food over gin any day!

12.3 still today, have swapped one plateau for another!

cricketmum84 · 25/10/2019 08:46

I'm thinking I may pick up one of the vegan pizzas from Iceland and chuck that it the oven while we are waiting for takeaway to arrive. The hummous and spinach one is particularly nice.

Think I may have little ones virus. Have the worst headache ever from coughing :(

OP posts:
FlyUpAndDieWitch · 25/10/2019 08:56

Morning! Sorry you're feeling poorly cricket.

Just had a pancake with Nutella. It was lovely, and should fill me up until lunch.

Fridays I just do 11:13, & have three meals instead of two.

Total for this month is still 2 pounds. One week to go: will try and shift one more by then to salvage the month a bit.

7Worfs · 25/10/2019 09:18

Good morrow! After about 10 days of plateau I shifted 1kg in 2 days Confused

My days are more or less identical food-wise, so probably water retention/more feeds/milk supply difference. 🤷‍♀️ I’ll take it though.

Will chill today, rain will likely prevent a walk.
Ordered decaf coffee so can drink more than a cup a day, yay!

I’m cheekily approaching competitors on LinkedIn to connect and explore job opportunities. 🤫

Egghead68 · 25/10/2019 09:31

Well done @7worfs! Hope everyone poorly or struggling gets a bit of a break/feels better today.

I ate 2 slices of “loaded” pizza last night which was stupid and I’ve been up all night with indigestion. No reason why I couldn’t Have stopped at one.

Trying to get back on track today:

B small portion muesli, SS milk, lots of fruit, teaspoon dulce de leche
L: roasted carrot & bulgar salad
S: fruit, poss cereal bar
D: slice pizza, salad
No exercise since Tuesday due to work and won’t be able to fit in any till Monday Sad

Onesmallstep67 · 25/10/2019 09:53

Well done @cricketmum84, great feeling when you break through another stone barrier.

Going pretty well here too, 16st this morning so that's 8 lbs down for October and nearly another week left. Fingers crossed I am seeing 15 something soon.
Met a guy yesterday for the first time and we went for a walk !! Another first. Sadly I think I will keep the walks but not the guy ! In the words of Bonnie Tyler " where have all the good men gone..?."
Off to Kent today to my old drama college with my DD. Not risking the car after the fiasco trying to get to Surrey.
Have a great weekend everyone

beforeIhit30 · 25/10/2019 11:30

Seems to be something in the air, some really great positives! I’ve also had a loss, I hadn’t moved much by mid-month as I had been in a hormonal mood and craving too much (my suspicions have since been confirmed, I must have been ovulating, as my period has now returned, first one since having baby). Well the past week and a half have gone much better, weighed this morning and I’m 4.6lb down since then (definitely some of that was bloat/water) so feeling like that’s a good kick start for me to keep going Smile

Today:
B: keto sausage rolls (I’m rather enjoying these Blush), creamy coffeee.
D: going to make some burgers, having them with melted cheese in a lettuce wrap and some veg on the side.

I think I may want to eat something else today, which would likely be yoghurt, berries and peanut butter, or celery with pate.

7Worfs · 25/10/2019 11:52

Fab reports, great job everyone 🎉
