Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

7worfs here are some Thanks for you and a Brew to wake you up. DD used to be like that. It is hell, & you have my sympathy.

And here's some for you as well cricket Thanks

Seem to have lost a pound already this week, which means 2 pounds lost for October. I'm 11 stone 9, starting weight 12 stone 11. I couldn't stop weeing yesterday, so I think water retention was playing a part in the plateau. (TMI I know).

I fasted for eighteen hours from 3pm yesterday until 9am today. Breakfast: a cuppa, live yog, nuts, seeds, cranberries and psyllium husks.

L will be creamy pasta with nuts and greens.

Have a great day everyone.

7Worfs · 22/10/2019 11:04

Thanks Miles and well done!

cricket that “went out... and came back” made me laugh Blush.
I hope things get better for you at home soon - how old is your DC (I haven’t been on previous threads) and is it stubbornness/bullying/a case of CBA with school anymore?

cricketmum84 · 22/10/2019 11:22

@7Worfs she is 15. She has been a school refuser for 2 years now and I'm so exhausted with the battles every single morning.

She has run away numerous times, loses her temper and punches me and numerous walls (I really need a plasterer), took an overdose last year. I could go on but it would be an extremely long post.

She came out as trans a couple of months ago. As in born a boy but now we use female pronouns. She is angry at the whole world and I spend an awful lot of time crying. I'm trying so so hard to help her. She won't engage with a private counsellor, GP or CAMHS. I've self referred to social services but stuck on a waiting list x

Oh cricket Sad
I hope your whole family gets the much needed help.
Are you in contact with other families going through similar? I imagine they'd be a good source of practical support.

Egghead68 · 22/10/2019 13:20

Flowers for @cricketmum84 (do you think there is any chance your teenager is on the autism spectrum? So common in children who label themselves as trans currently) and @7worfs. Well done @MilesJuppismybitch!

73.1kg this morning. Would love to go sub-73!

Logging:
B High protein yoghurt 116
S Fruit salad 150
L Cauliflower bite things 440

Egghead68 · 22/10/2019 13:20

Damn - and spoon of pistachio spread - 120ish

cricketmum84 · 22/10/2019 17:47

@Egghead68 we are waiting on a diagnosis. Both school and CAMHS have submitted reports and we are waiting for those to go before a panel for an official decision. I do think she is in the spectrum though. All those little things from when she was younger suddenly madr sense. Food issues with certain textures, we would find batteries and wires with bite marks in all the time, she hates any physical contact, lots more but too many to go into. I was absolutely devastated that we hadn't spotted all the signs earlier.

I hope you all get the help you need soon @cricketmum84. So horribly stressful. Flowers

beforeIhit30 · 22/10/2019 23:19

Great to hear of positive attitudes and some losses, yay!

Oh @7Worfs you have my sympathy, you must be drained, but on the flip side think of how well you’re doing considering how you’re running on fumes! Definitely go easy on yourself for that.

Lots of Flowers for you @cricketmum84. Don’t beat yourself up about not spotting signs, I have DCs with diagnoses and the only thing I sought extra advice on was speech (as they were delayed), I hadn’t a clue about anything else. It was actually MNers on a thread here that pointed out some ‘red flags’ when I was posting about something else, and a doctor who happened to be at an appointment in the background spotted some behaviours and referred.

Today:
B: creamy coffee, omelette, smoked mackerel.
D: pork belly, spinach.
Evening treat!: cup of cocoa (cream, cocoa powder, hot water).

DownUdderer · 23/10/2019 06:11

I’ve lost a pound and I’m down 5lbs for October. I’m happy and relieved. Keep on keeping on everyone.

cricketmum84 · 23/10/2019 07:23

Thanks @beforeIhit30 :) she actually had speech therapy at 3 as she could only make bowel sounds for a long time and nobody suggested autism. She is high functioning if she is somewhere on the spectrum as she is an absolute genius at music and maths and primary school put her on the gifted and talented register: I'm just astounded nobody suggested it until year 10 of high school.

Anyway, it's day 23 and my month is just going awful. Right back up to 19.2 this morning. Trying not to swear! And so tempted to say F it and get a vegan roll and a spiced pumpkin latte.

Plan for today is:
1pm - super green soup (only one portion left)
7pm - everyone is having pork meatballs and pasta. May just have a small portion of pasta with the tomato, garlic and basil sauce,

Must. Avoid. Vegan. Rolls.

12.3 still this morning. It's funny, it feels as though the weight loss has massively slowed down now (and admittedly I've been less strict since reaching my goal of having a normal BMI) but actually so far in October I've lost 4lbs so I'm well on course to lose 5lbs in a month which is what I've done most months. Weird! On MFP, I've started clicking on the Complete Diary button at the end of a day which I haven't really bothered with before. It gives you a nice message - if every day was like today, in 5 weeks you'd be xxx weight. Which is good to keep motivated.

Egghead68 · 23/10/2019 08:26

72.7kg. Broken the 73g barrier! (for now - I expect I'll be back up to 75kg by tomorrow).

Celebrating by wearing my favourite tight dress!

Plan for today
B - Muesli bar, fruit - 350
L - veg stew, high protein yoghurt - 400
S - rice cakes, fruit - 270
D - dunno, maybe another yoghurt.

Baguetteaboutit · 23/10/2019 08:33

That sounds hard as nails cricket. Hope you answers and some helpful support soon x

I'm down again today 10st 13.75. Wish the weight came off my belly but looking at how sad and deflated my bra looks I'm guessing not Grin Oh well - it has to go eventually, right?

cricketmum84 · 23/10/2019 09:10

@Baguetteaboutit 😂😂😂

Guys, I slept! I had an uninterrupted 3-hour stretch in the night, and I feel like a new woman. Halloween Grin I did a fasted HIIT and will savour today, as who knows when I’ll feel like that again!

Scales 67.0kg today, 0.3kg heavier than yesterday, but it’s probably a temporary blip.

Egghead68 · 23/10/2019 09:18

Woohoo about the sleep @7Worfs!

7Worfs · 23/10/2019 09:24

I know! 🎉 🥳🤩
I hope everyone has a fab day! 🤗

FlyUpAndDieWitch · 23/10/2019 09:50

Morning morning!

Glad you got a long, luxurious three hours 7Worfs Grin

Sleep is the thing I appreciate the most now my two are older. You never take it for granted again!

Finished my eighteen hour fast with my usual yoghurt-nutty breakfast.

I'll have sticky chicken with salad and baguette at 14:30, then start all over again. KOKO.

FlyUpAndDieWitch · 23/10/2019 09:51

(It's MilesJuppIsMyBitch here btw: got my Halloween costume on). Halloween Smile

Onesmallstep67 · 23/10/2019 10:03

Morning everyone, sending lots of positivity to those of you who are having a rough ride for different reasons at the moment. This morning's updates seem to show things are improving , so pleased to hear that.

I've had a bit of a rollercoaster few days including blokes I can't trust, getting very, very drunk and having to part with £1000 for car repairs I have now been advised to trade in before anything else goes wrong. On the upside I seem to have come through it and yesterday did a four and a half mile walk with my friend, something that would have been unheard of 6 months ago.
Currently 16st 2lbs, 6 lbs down for October and 1lb off hitting the 3 stone loss since April. 9 days left of October, would love to shift that final 1lb and hit target for second month in a row. I'm finding the accountability of being on here a real motivator so thank you to everyone for sharing their progress, tips and being so open about the highs and lows. Have a great day

Baguetteaboutit · 23/10/2019 13:02

Grin Yes. That definitely sounds like my body's approach to weight loss cricket Grin

If you can manage all that on 3 hours sleep 7worf then you must be a utter legend on a full 8! Long may the sleep stretches continue.

CalmConfident · 23/10/2019 22:40

Ate out tonight at a local restaurant tasting night...so many calories I dare not count them!!! Feel so stuffed and a bit ill now 😫😳

cricketmum84 · 23/10/2019 23:03

@Onesmallstep67 that sounds like a shitty few days. Hope you are ok?

Stuck to plan today. Still sat working and contemplating a gin.
