Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Egghead68 · 21/10/2019 15:27

Logging:

1 pot M&S West Country Yoghurt 675 (OMG - I thought it was 450)
6 figs 280
1 nine bar 225
8 grapes 25

1200ish already so not going to be very low today (yoghurt was an accident)

Planned D: Veg stirfried in a tiny bit of oil - 200ish
Body blast class

Hope everyone is having good days.

Cauliflower cheese soup sounds amazing!

cricketmum84 · 21/10/2019 16:03

@Egghead68 OMG 675 for yoghurt?!? That's outrageous!

OP posts:
CalmConfident · 21/10/2019 16:06

Yoghurt...sure that cannot be so!?!? Check it is not a 30g pot and that is not the 100g number instead (or something Similar!)

Egghead68 · 21/10/2019 16:11

To be fair it was a 3-serving (450g) pot of yoghurt but even so... Totally not worth the calories. I could have had a main meal instead!

CalmConfident · 21/10/2019 16:16

I am regretting my bread earlier today too...shocked, could have had more chilli and forgotten the pitta!

CalmConfident · 21/10/2019 16:16

That is a big pot of yoghurt Grin We are all learning together on this thread !

cricketmum84 · 21/10/2019 16:17

Just in case anyone wants the super green soup recipe (even the teenager ate it and loved it)

Serves 4 - 189 cals per serving

Full broccoli head broken into florets
2 cups frozen peas
Full bag spinach
1 tin coconut milk
600ml veg stock
3 cloves garlic
Bunch of mint
About 2 inches fresh ginger
Juice of a lime

Pop it all in the soup maker except the spinach and the lime. Once it's hot I then added the spinach and stirred it in so it wilted otherwise there was too much stuff in the pot! Once it's done add the juice of the lime.

It's exceptionally tasty, very good for you and perfect for staving off colds at this time of year!

cricketmum84 · 21/10/2019 16:19

Oops also either a red chilli or a teaspoon of chilli flakes depending on how spicy you want it!!

Thanks cricket that soup sounds delicious, I may try that later in the week. Don't have a soup maker though, good old pan and stick blender for me!

beforeIhit30 · 21/10/2019 16:46

@7Worfs Grin true...

I’ve had similar happen to me in the past @Egghead68 so at least you’re not alone!

That green soup sounds good too. Need to start making soup! I also don’t have a soup maker and now wondering if I need one... Blush Grin I’ve tried blending in my food processor before but it doesn’t really get it soup-y, I cant put hot liquids in my smoothie maker, I could get a stick blender I suppose... (thinking out loud now).

cricketmum84 · 21/10/2019 17:05

@beforeIhit30 and @WoollyFoolly up until lovely DH bought me the soup maker last year I did all mine with pan and stick blender and couldn't see the point of a soup maker.

I totally see the point of a soup maker now 😂 just bung everything in, press a button and 20 mins later you have got smooth and piping hot soup! I don't think they are very expensive either.

I don’t need much encouragement @cricketmum84 Grin you’re already selling it to me I’m already looking on Amazon...

Egghead68 · 21/10/2019 18:01

That soup sounds amazing @cricketmum84. Thanks for the recipe.

7Worfs · 21/10/2019 18:17

Hmm soup maker... I need to be mindful of counter space, but maybe it will be useful for weaning?

I just ate some therapeutic chocolate. No regrets, as I was super strict during the plateau week, and needed a bit of a pick me up.

WoollyFoolly · 21/10/2019 20:36

Change of plan for tea, we actually had miso-glazed aubergine which was completely delicious. MFP is telling me I have had zero iron today though, yikes.

DownUdderer · 22/10/2019 02:31

I went shopping yesterday and struggled to find a sport bra to fit me. In the third shop I found one, but I felt pretty fed up by then. And why are the mirrors so unflattering, it’s the lighting I think. Anyway I was starting to feel down on myself. I mentally asked for a shake from everyone else trying to loose weight on mumsnet and then I tried out a positive attitude instead! With the new sport bra hoiking my boobs up I looked much slimmer and I found some moderately jazzy sports leggings that are high waisted, I hadn’t realised, but they were also slimming.

So I had an extra walk around the block last night and felt good for putting in the effort. I wasn’t hungry at all yesterday, but today I’m eating a bit more in case I need more food.

This morning at the park with my son I walked around the whole time trying to get my steps in and did a little bit of jogging in between.

I just want to shift a pound! Then I’ll be a stone down!

Good work everyone. And good luck.

cricketmum84 · 22/10/2019 07:06

Morning all! Happy Tuesday!!

@DownUdderer glad we were able to help :) a positive attitude gorsbsuch a long way and you are doing fab getting the extra steps in!!

Haven't weighed today so hoping I'm still at 19. I did good yesterday and just had the soup for lunch and the fish for dinner with no snacks in between and just one gin in the evening.

Plan for today is to break the fast at 1 with a portion of the super green soup. Dinner is a saved portion of the squash and spinach curry from Sunday with rice and chia seeds. I've got one of the aldi protein nuts boxes in my bag in case I get snacky.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I've lost another 3/4lb. So now I'm 11stone 0.75.

Yesterday was another round of porridge, black bean salad and veg chilli.

I've got hold of a tea called 'apple crumble' which I'm trying to use to phase out afternoon coffees. It's lovely but probably laced with sugar - It'll do, I'm just trying to brake the habit for now.

Baguetteaboutit · 22/10/2019 07:10

Glad you were able to successfully battle the inner bitch and find a great workout outfit downudderer.

WoollyFoolly · 22/10/2019 08:56

Apple crumble tea sounds delicious! I bought myself a loose leaf tea pot (recommended on the Xmas threads!) recently in a bid to be more environmentally friendly and have found the most amazing earl grey tea so I have that for a treat.

Winging it today as not sure where I'll be for lunch, but can always compensate for a heavy lunch with a light tea.

7Worfs · 22/10/2019 08:58

Nice one, baguette

Another horror night of wakings, not ashamed to admit I cried this morning! I’m okay now, but again too weak to exercise (3rd day in a row!).
Same weight as yesterday, but not beating myself over it, I just need to survive this. Baby will turn 5mo in a few days, maybe nights will improve slightly then... I just need one 3-hour stretch of uninterrupted sleep, please God.

WoollyFoolly · 22/10/2019 09:02

Oh 7Worfs you poor thing, you are doing amazingly just being able to write coherently! My second baby was a hideous nightmare with sleeping, he'd wake up 7-8 times a night so I never got longer than a 45 minute stretch for months and months. Nearly bloody killed me. It's so so so so tough, be kind to yourself and just keep going. One day it will improve!

7Worfs · 22/10/2019 09:10

Thanks Woolly Smile
I’m getting my bearings after coffee and toast, but before that it’s just too much.

cricketmum84 · 22/10/2019 10:12

For you @7Worfs

I cried this morning too. The teenager still won't get up and go to school. It's been 2 years of this and it's 3 weeks since she last went. Had to pay for a full days parking at work just to turn around and come home because they are sending a child protection officer out. She has got me to breaking point. Can't believe I came off the ADs thinking everything was gonna be fine after the school hols.
