Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

I have been up and down for the entire month so far! 182.5 down to 180 back to 181 down to ... Today 182.5 again. I have had a birthday, two biopsies (all clear thank goodness), large dinner party, birthday cake two days running. Did walk 7.5 miles two days this weekend, and have not been below 5 miles a day, so can't believe I'm stuck in this same spiral. Groundhog Day of Weight.

Onward and Downward I say.

DownUdderer · 15/10/2019 05:35

I’m glad your biopsy was ok @2018SoFarSoGreat. I’ve eaten pretty well today. I’m definitely low calorie the last three or four days. I’m trying to stick to low carb, without having to calculate anything, so basically steering clear of bread, potatoes and pasta. I’ve strained my back though so I’m like an invalid! Argh!

cricketmum84 · 15/10/2019 06:53

Good news about the biopsies @2018SoFarSoGreat

I haven't weighed this morning. It been pretty similar in just hovering between 19.1 and 19.3 since the start of October. Wish my whoosh would come!

Been up since 4 and now on the train to London for a full day meeting so will be a bit quiet today. Hopefully I will make good choices although I've already had a spiced pumpkin latte. Don't really have much of a plan for today as I'm not sure what's happening.

@2018SoFarSoGreat that is brilliant news about your biopsies, you must be so relieved. Your health is priceless x

Egghead68 · 15/10/2019 08:46

Great news on the biopsies @2018SoFarSoGreat!

Plan
B - choc muffin (424)
L - veg curry and couscous (small portion) 450
D+S - Fruit salad, high protein yoghurt, rice ball, hot choc, sugar free sweets 540
Circuits class

7Worfs · 15/10/2019 09:42

@FashionFoodLaughs Good luck, I’m also interviewing, a bit daunting while on mat leave but my ambition is off the charts still.

@beforeIhit30 I feel exactly the same, my well exercised size 8 body is like a distant memory. Currently size 14, even though I am mere 5kg heavier than pre-pregnancy.

Mid-month weight today is 67.2kg (2.1kg down since start of Oct), scales finally moved after a week of plateau.

Bearintheknow · 15/10/2019 10:52

Morning!
Weighed myself this morning, had a fairly good weekend apart from 1 glass of red on Saturday night.
I’ve lost 1lb so I’m not 9st 9lb,
Not overly impressed with this considering I’ve been dragging my ass to spin 3 times a week but I’ll take it!
Good luck for the rest of this week everyone!

FashionFoodLaughs · 15/10/2019 13:19

So weighed this morning and down to 10.11 but by far the best news is I GOT THE JOB! Delaying celebrating until the weekend but yay! Plan for today after just now eating my breakfast of porridge is
L - poached egg on toast
D - Jamie Oliver seabass with pea and asparagus mash
S - would it be wrong to have one celebratory G&T????

Ellabella989 · 15/10/2019 13:54

B - banana and bowl of blackberries
L - chicken breast with spinach & broccoli
D - homemade beef chilli with brown rice.
Snacks - 3 squares choc, 1 kitkat and a couple of dried apricots

Ellabella989 · 15/10/2019 13:58

@FashionFoodLaughs YAY congrats!!! Definitely have the celebratory g&t 😃

WoollyFoolly · 15/10/2019 14:30

Congrats @FashionFoodLaughs! When do you start?
I've taken a leaf out of cricketmum's book this week and have just meal planned the whole week. So lentil ragu on the menu for us today. Didn't have time for lunch though so have just had toast 🤨

FashionFoodLaughs · 15/10/2019 14:40

@woollyfoolly not until start of December but great to know now!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 15/10/2019 15:30

Great news on the job front Fashion!

Clipperclopper · 15/10/2019 15:44

I guarantee if you are not losing weight you are not cutting cal as much as you think.
We severely underestimate what we consume. 1 biscuit can be 50+ cals.Blush

Clipperclopper · 15/10/2019 15:46

Carbs are not the enemy. Saturated fat is...highest in cals.
Stick to lean meats/ fish..veg..fruit and salad. NO SNACKS

Egghead68 · 15/10/2019 15:49

Congratulations @FashionFoodLaughs!

7Worfs · 15/10/2019 15:57

Congrats, Fashion, well done!

Baguetteaboutit · 15/10/2019 16:50

Clipper did you just name change to advice bomb the weight loss threads? Grin

cricketmum84 · 15/10/2019 17:58

Congrats @FashionFoodLaughs that's fantastic news!!!
Just got home from that there London. Avoided the sweets and chocolate during the meeting and got a pret veggie box for 247 calories for lunch. But then ended up having 2 big glasses of wine while waiting for the train as ours was cancelled after some poor soul was hit by a train at Newark.

Kinda makes you realise what's important.

beforeIhit30 · 15/10/2019 18:40

Thanks @7Worfs sorry you feel similar but comforted by the reminder that other women go through this! Have been kind to myself today, I can tell I’m having hormonal fluctuations (wondering if my period/ovulation is returning Hmm) so I’ve not worried too much today about food. Not going overboard, just being gentle and getting my head back into a positive place for weight loss - I find trying to lose weight with a negative attitude (eg ‘I don’t like the way I look’) isn’t as successful as being positive (eg ‘I feel much better when I eat x foods’).

Congratulations @FashionFoodLaughs!

That’s sad @cricketmum84 I normally into central London daily and have heard those announcements too often Sad

Speaking of Pret, they have some new foods which is always fun to try. Got the spinach and bacon omelette, full of optimism... nope! It tasted like egg white only (maybe it was? Need to check the small print!), and it had lots of water at the bottom presumably from the spinach. Such a shame as I hoped it would be a decent low carb breakfast option on the go! They do a feta and pepper one, perhaps that's better...

beforeIhit30 · 15/10/2019 18:44

Just checked online, it is an egg white omelette! Why can’t we have full egg omelettes?! It just says omelette on the front, it should say ‘egg white’ in big letters so I am not poor unsuspecting souls are not disappointed... Grin

DownUdderer · 15/10/2019 23:59

I’m still the same weight. Weight loss has slowed down for me. I’ve got to get used to this new slower pattern. I agree with @beforeIhit30, a positive attitude makes it easier. I enjoy my food when I have a positive attitude and I enjoy racking up my step count if I have a positive attitude.

I ate a big cookie last night as pudding and it made me feel queasy! So that was a lesson learned. I’ve been enjoying some skinny cow ice cream as a tiny treat and they’re a bit too nice! I won’t buy them again for a couple of weeks!

Tanaqui · 16/10/2019 06:21

Congratulations on the job @FashionFoodLaughs and I'm so glad about the biopsies @2018SoFarSoGreat.

Those of you wirh tiny babies be kind to yourselves! It takes time and your hormones will still be all over the place- especially if breastfeeding.

10st3.5 today (sigh). That is all I lost on August and September back on! Hope just a blip 🤞🤞🤞but I know it is toast and cheese. Will also try to be kind to myself! Have a lovely day everyone.

WoollyFoolly · 16/10/2019 06:34

Still on 12.5 here, trying to be patient and stick with it but it's hard when you don't see any movement for a while. Must keep on keeping on.

FashionFoodLaughs · 16/10/2019 06:40

Down to 10.10 and 1/8 according to scales, hurrah! I have maintained for over a week so nice that scales are finally starting to budge again. For all those struggling with the shittiness of plateaus, just keep going.
