Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

Well I have taken the advice offered by the lovely people on this thread. Have started tracking everything I eat. I’m doing ok calorie wise at least for the last three/four days. My main thing is I’ve cut out wine. I’ve stocked up on soda water etc and it seems if I can make it past dinner without vino I’m ok. So whilst I don’t think I’ve lost anything yet, and certainly feel I need to add some proper exercise, I think I might be in the right track!!

Ellabella989 · 14/10/2019 08:26

Last mon - 12 stone 7
Today - 12 stone 5.4

Not a massive loss but I got my period so I’m pleased with any loss at all as my TOTM usually causes me to gain weight and swell up with water retention.

Why does it have to be so hard to lose weight when it’s so easy to gain it :-(

Why does it have to be so hard to lose weight when it’s so easy to gain it :-(

Isn’t it just?

LooseAtTheSeams · 14/10/2019 09:49

No loss, no gain this morning - minor miracle given food intake at weekend so the running definitely helped.

Baguetteaboutit · 14/10/2019 09:52

Yesterday I had l: halloumi salad s: cake Hmm d: veggie chilli with brown rice.

I've got that half pound back again today, so down to 11 stone 1.5 but I think I'm going to just weigh every Wednesday now. It's too up and down doing it daily.

Baguetteaboutit · 14/10/2019 09:55

Also, I've started a yoga weight loss 30 day thing. Yesterday was day two and the tip was to drink a tonne of water, fine I think cynically and neck a pint before taking ds2 out to catch Pokémon. Anyway, turns out you lose weight by drinking water because you have to power walk two miles home to use the loo, so there might be some logic to it.

DownUdderer · 14/10/2019 09:59

I stayed the same today. I guess that’s good but a little bit annoying! I’d like to be a pound down tomorrow.

WoollyFoolly · 14/10/2019 10:29

😂 baguette
I'm still on 12.5 this morning - I'll happily take that after a slightly indulgent weekend! Also we had our family photographs done yesterday and it felt lovely to not be self-conscious about whether/how pregnant I was looking in any of the shots!

cricketmum84 · 14/10/2019 10:41

Still 19.3 today.

WFH so must resist the kids crisp and treats box in the garage. I have loads of healthy food in so I have literally no excuses. No 16:8 today as I hardly ate yesterday and am starving already.

Plan for today is
2 seeded flatbread thins with hummous
1pm - spinach, tomatoes and feta with a sprinkle of mixed seeds
Snack - 2 babybel
8pm - edamame bean and green veg stir fry

Hope everyone has a happy and successful Monday!

@Baguetteaboutit, the powerwalking back to the loo made me lol

My lovely jolly to Surrey and back for a university open day turned into 24 hours stuck in rural Oxfordshire with a broken down car, 2 arguing teenagers, intermittent wifi/phone signal and no proper help until yesterday afternoon. As a consequence after my lunch on Saturday and before I inhaled a burrito on Sunday at around 7pm I consumed very little apart from half a bag of Maltesers and a pain au chocolat ( mmm ) I felt a bit too wound up to eat.

As an upshot of that, plus my TOTM arriving, this morning I am down to 16st 3lbs. That's 7lbs lighter than last Monday ( a temporary weight gain due to Ben and Jerrys and alcohol last weekend) and 5 lbs down on my October start weight. 2lbs more and I will hit 3 stone lost since April. Maybe by the end of the month I will even have dipped under 16 stone ? fingers crossed.

Have a great Monday and a fab week everyone. xx

cricketmum84 · 14/10/2019 11:26

Ouch @Onesmallstep67 that does not sound like a fun weekend!!! I would have done far worse than half a bag of Maltesers 😂

Congratulations @Ellabella989 and @onesmallstep67. Sounds like a good start @Minidoofa.

I’m back to 75kg after a perfectly good weekend Sad. Hopefully just the weight of food inside me.

Egghead68 · 14/10/2019 17:29

L - 1/2 a pasta ready meal. Load of steamed veg (400)
D - same as lunch (400)
S - 1 teaspoon pistachio paste; 1/2 small bag trek protein bites, low cal hot chocolate (300)

Ellabella989 · 14/10/2019 17:36

B - fruit salad made with blueberries, pomegranates and pineapple
L - chicken and veg soup
D - slice of quiche with some chips and broccoli.
Snacks - 4 squares dairy milk, 2 caramel chocolates and 1 baby bel.

DartmoorDoughnut · 14/10/2019 18:31

Hope everyone is doing ok, had a good day food wise I think, breakfast was wheatabix and a banana (again!) and dinner was an omelette with pork and cheese and a side salad. Had a hospital appt so no exercise.

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 14/10/2019 19:34

I've had an ok day calorie wise and managed to do 18:6. I feel blahhhhh though due to TOTM.

L: soup and roll
S- low cal crisps
T: half pizza and salad
Planning a bit of chocolate in a bit.

Totalling 1100. Really hope I can keep it up all week.

flowerycurtain · 14/10/2019 19:48

Evening all.
I stuck to my cals today so pleased with that.

Have now put my braces in To avoid the evening snackage! Love reading everyone's menus - gives me loads of ideas.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 14/10/2019 20:06

Hi everyone.

Haven't caught up with the thread yet, but popping in to say I lost two pounds last week (same two I gained in the first week Hmm), & am back on the 18:6.

FashionFoodLaughs · 14/10/2019 20:23

Still saying the same weight, uuurgh! Feel sick with nerves today as have an interview tomorrow. Forced down a bowl of porridge for lunch as knew I had to have something so went for something bland and easy. Homemade chicken and spinach curry for tea and DH sweetly got me an orange Lindt bar (after the fruitless search for orange Twirls) still under Cals and hoping all the anxiety will burn some fat!

Mrscog · 14/10/2019 20:30

A day to forget calorie wise....have basically inhaled everything today. the key is now to keep on keeping on for tomorrow....must not fall off bandwagon!

Baguetteaboutit · 14/10/2019 20:30

Today was B. Porridge with blackberries & blueberries L. Black bean and kale salad w carrots and cranberries D. Veggie chilli and rice and one large milky coffee.

How are people doing the 18:6? Are you able to eat with the rest of your family on an evening?

I'm just over a 1100 calories.

Egghead68 · 14/10/2019 20:31

Good luck in the interview @Fashionfoodlaughs!

Did a Bodyblast class and ate a few sugar free sweets. Now 76kg, which is higher than my starting weight! Going to stay off the scales for a bit.

beforeIhit30 · 14/10/2019 21:15

Haven’t been very present here Blush it’s been over a week I think since I last weighed so not sure where I am at current! I’ve been eating okay, but had some days which are higher carb than my norm so don’t know how that might impact.

Had a bit of a weird day today, food was okay but I had a piece of cake after dinner. I’ve really fancied some for a while and I’m not much of a cake person. Feeling a bit down about my size, but DH has been reminding me I had a baby not long ago! I think because a year ago I was very happy with my size, then getting pregnant and being very ill in pregnancy from the start means that it’s only all really hitting me now that baby is here and I’m no longer ill. So it’s a bit like going to sleep slim and healthy and waking up 10 months later 2 stone heavier and weaker!

However I’ve been trying to do more steps, I’ve booked in with my physio, and once I’ve had my postnatal check (at 10 weeks... not 6... grumble...) I’m planning on joining a postnatal exercise class that is run near me.

I hope everyone else is well! Midway point, we can do this!

CalmConfident · 14/10/2019 21:24

Gym weigh in yesterday had sad news I gave gone up to 65.8kg. However...bodytrax machine tells me that my muscle mass has increased so technically that is not so bad!!

CalmConfident · 14/10/2019 21:27

Having had a look I seem to have muscled my legs a bit...the running might be kicking in !!
